Elliah was as bundled up as much as possible. Cold was the worst. Why the weather had to just up and decide it was high time to start chilling out, she would never know. Warm weather all year round would be perfect in her opinion. Not even the cute fashion that could happen with all the layers was enough to mollify her.
The adorable pink-and-purple stocking she had gotten when she walked in had made it almost worth the trip. Honestly, she was probably going to just get some of the cute trinkets she was seeing people walk around with and then bail. Back to her dorm where she could slide under a half dozen blankets with something warm to drink. The bag of peanut brittle she'd gotten shortly after the stocking would be especially delicious with that. Now, where could she get the trinkets she was wanting the fastest? Games maybe? Fighting off a shiver, she tried to think as she looked around.
Munnin clapped happy to be up and about. He was hoping to get his first familiar today. Father had tons of familiars and everyone knew about his mom’s love of Nezubats. Munnin was still sometimes confused on why she was trying to get a degree in archeology and anthropology instead of something to do with the fuzzy critters. It didn’t help that even mani had a familiar. Of course Yue still wanted to get rid of that creepy pumpka, apparently it kept crawling into Mani’s crib when they were younger. Suddenly something went crashing into the back of his head with a chirping sound. “Owww that hurt Munnin’s head” he pouted rubbing the now very sore spot. There was a lot of angry sputtering or what Munnin assumed was sputtering. He looked down at the familiar who was currently flapping there way up to claim a spot on Munnin’s shoulder. Ah… well wish granted.
Hades wasn’t quite sure why he had left his room. Oh that was right one of his dorm mates had mentioned the librarian was giving out free books. Since Hades was a bit of a bookworm he tore himself out of whatever he had currently been doing, admittedly this was using a deck of cards to build a house, and walked down to the festival. Well hopefully they would have good drinks and not too many people would bother him but if he didn’t make a couple friends then Zeus would probably be all over his case. Ah had to love younger brothers some time. Sure enough he found the books however and quickly grabbed his favorite. He had lost his copy of The Halfling when they had been forced to come to the academy. It would be nice to have it for his collection again even if he still wasn’t talking to the book for its ending.
Ugh this was just peachy. It was turning out to be one of those days it seemed like. He had been enjoying his book and curled up under a bunch of comfy blankets when the door had been opened and he had been dragged out by the caretakers saying that he needed to interact with others more. Okay so it was strongly suggested and he may in fact have been bribed. However it was still cold, and on top of being cold and not under his blankets he had lost Cirro. Cirro was quiet and didn’t talk to many people besides Alto what if someone tried to bully him?
How was he supposed to have fun with out his twin… Did they ever think about that…? Ugh Adults seriously. Well he might as well stay in the area and try out some games. Cirro could be looking for him and he didn’t want to move around a lot and cause his twin all sorts of worry. The fact that he won a plushie from said game… may or may not be slowly improving his mood… maybe…
Suijin wasn’t sure if he liked this many people. Sure it wasn’t as crowded as it could get but he really wasn’t used to this land, and he was always afraid of not being around water for too long. It didn’t help that he didn’t know any one either. He had been handed a plant earlier which suijin was holding to his person and wondering what did one do. How did people make friends? Maybe the plant would help. Aaah who was he kidding he was so terrible at this. There had to be someone here he could learn how to people from.
Yup! This was becoming more and more exciting as the two wandered about. There was candy EVERYWHERE and Hailey was trying so hard not to just go snitch it all up! It would really be a bad thing if she did... getting in trouble and all and missing out on all the fun. Giving a grin to Malachi, she swung their arms to and fro as they walked. "Where do y-- AH! LET'S GO HERE!" she shouted out, dragging him to another game stand. This time it was a bean bag toss game.
Malachi was pretty surprised to see Hailey so calm for once in a festival setting. Usually she was all over the place, but she really seemed to be trying right now. He was feeling pretty darn proud of her. But, then she tugged him off to another game and he gave a small yelp in surprise... laughing after the fact because it was just how she worked.
Yessss! This game was awesome! Hailey totally loved playing these games and rocked them pretty awesomely!... usually. Th this time she only managed to get two of five bean bags through the holes! Well, luckily for her, it was still enough to win the snowball fight bucket! YES!
While Hailey was distracted with the game, Malachi had wandered to a stand just a bit away. He managed to get her a bracelet and a huge vespercat plushie for gift giving. He quickly stuffed them away in the stocking before standing back next to her. "It's okay, Hailey. You at least got the prize you wanted~"
Janine pushed herself up from her chair, ready for the festivities at hand. Her stocking was hung by her dresser with care before she made her way out, scarf not even on as she ran out the door. It was exciting to see that they had new arrivals to the below, especially the Daydreams... Well, wasn't this the best time to welcome them to their home?
Izar quietly made his way through the crowd, curious about these festivities. He had heard that there were visitors to the Below, but he wasn't quite sure what he would find. How different were they from the nightmares that inhabited the below? ... But these curious questions left his mind as a vendor threw a scarf his way, his eyes shining at the thought of owning that shining fluff monster.
Ash hugged her mother as she looked upon the festivities. There was so much for the little demon to take in, she couldn't believe it! "Now, you'll be careful, right? I don't want you getting hurt." A frown lingered on Elsie's face and Ash grinned, trying to get her to do the same. "I'll be fine, mama!" She hopped back, hoping to see all the things this place had in store. It was her first time at a festival like this! She could barely contain herself from running off, quickly finding herself at a game.
Hmmmm... Dodger couldn't quite decide on what he was going to try next. There were so many sights and sounds and distracting things that he couldn't even quite focus on any one thing. That is, until he saw a hoops game. Sure he wasn't the athletic type, but he enjoyed throwing b-balls around. Wandering up to the game, he eyes a couple things he wanted to try for, and handed over his tickets. Grabbing up the ball, Dodger took his stand, dribbled it a couple times, then took his shot!
Oh yes! The shots were going down so good! Score! After shooting his limit, Dodger did a little victory dance and grinned. He picked out the Peanut Brittle and a huge a** Fennekit plushie. He laughed at the thought of his yappy mutt getting a load of it. All grins, Dodger tossed it over his shoulder after stocking the brittle and wandered off to find his next spot.
Bobbi continued to wander about. Though the games and vendors didn't hold much that would be attention grabbing for the Litch, still, xe found xyrself enjoying the people watching. What was it about the holidays and festivities that made them go so crazy? That thought was at least something Bobbi could find amusement in. Well, people watching and good books. As xe came across a game that surprisingly offered a decent variety, Bobbi handed over a ticket to at least give it a try.
After doing surprisingly well at the game, Bobbi picked out the book that seemed most interesting of the bunch. Giving a grateful nod as it was put into xyr hands, xe ran a couple fingers along the spine, a smile settling on xyr face. But that peaceful moment was broken as the person at the stand shouted 'WINNER WINNER COCKATRIEL DINNER!... but not really!' and shoved a small cage with an angry looking bird at xyr. Bobbi blinked, holding the cage out at a distance. What was xe supposed to do with this thing?
Jezebeth was quite thrilled to have travel between Above and Below open. Sure, they Daydreams and Nightmares certainly had their differences, but this was a chance for Fallen to learn more about those Fallen who were from Above as well! It was a chance for them to learn more about their own history It only Cassiel had lived to see this...
There were more reasons to celebrate however, with Winter Solstice quickly approaching. She made her way out to the Carnival where student from the Academy and Universities were already beginning to mingle. They were a few Daydreams mixed in, but she was much too timid to approach any of them on her own, for now she's stick to trying to win some prizes. She'd like to share some of them with Enoukn.
She made her way over to a booth that required throwing basket balls into a net some distance away. She had to admit she was attracted to it because of the large plushies that were being given out as prizes. They looked so cute! She just had to make three out of five baskets. Her first shot was perfect, barely hit the ring at all. The second, bounced back and nearly hit the boot runner. Woops. Her third shot was much like her first, but the fourth one spun around the ring into falling away from the basket. She took a deep breath before aiming the last one....!
And nailed it! She let out a little squeal of excitement as she picked out the big fox plushie. She couldn't wait to show Enoukn!
It seems like this school was throwing a new event every other month, not that Foras could complain. Another chance to win some treats wasn't such a bad thing in his book. They were celebrating for a good cause as well, besides the Winter Solstice alone, they were also partying it up with the Daydreams! What a world changing event really, this day would most certainly go down in history. There would be new students in the Academy soon and, oh it was pretty exciting!
As he was passing by a booth someone flew past him, but as they did so they dropped a boa around his neck. They seemed to be passing them out to people at random, and giggling as they did so. Well, some nightmares were certainly strange...
However, s smirk came to his face. He wondered if Ganymede might be around. He didn't think this was really his cup of tea, but just in case he did manage to find that adorable little Geist....
nepsah
Mwuahahaha.
Piper was still fairly young, but she could understand that the carnival and events weren't just a celebration for the Winter Solstice. In fact, her Mom had even made it down for the events! Rosali had been kind enough to explain to her the significance of what had happened. About how those people whom had warred with us in the past, were now free to visit with us. Trade with us. Mingle with us. And be our friends! It really was quite exciting to think about.
"Happy Solstice!" Someone called their attention and gave Piper a little bundle of candy canes. She returned the phrase in kind and thanked the gift-giver before stuffing the candy canes into her little stocking. She'd be quite happy to share them with someone later!
Anyone at all!
Please feel free to interact with Piper! ♥
Everyone was going to the Carnival, and Eilwen didn't want to just stay behind in her room alone. So she had ventured out for the evening. If anything, she would enjoy seeing all the different booths and how they were set up. She did quite enjoy seeing all different types of architecture. From the really big, to the really small. It was all quite fun to see. And so she had made it out into the Carnival area, but she kept her eyes off of the other nightmares and daydreams. Instead she looked at the light and all of the wonderful colors. It was so pretty!
It was then that she saw the little booth that was giving away the small potted plants. Oh! She had, not too long ago, planted a flower around campus with a friend from class. She made her way over to the booth and picked out the little seedling with the blue and white base, it reminded her of home. Home which was always covered in snow....
So Daydreams were now allowed in Below. That was some pretty big news and he was honestly surprised it was being allowed at all. Would they always be peaceful? One certainly had to hope so now that that could come down into the Below whenever they wished. Of course, that meant Nightmares could go above as well. He wondered what it was like up there, but he had a dream to realize down here first. Oh! Imagine being the first Nightmare Pop Stars to play in Above....
He shook his head, that was getting a little bit ahead of himself honestly. For now there was a carnival to enjoy! And boy, did Miss Ava outdo herself with the prizes this year. People were practically giving things away in every direction you walked in. Still, one of the large plushie prizes caught his attention and he wandered over to water gun race booth. He hunkered down, eyes his competition, and then blew them all out of the water. Somewhat literally. He smirked as he chose his prize, one of the big blue and white vespercat dolls. He didn't plan on keeping it for himself. He wondered if Cherish was around here somewhere....
As he was leaving the booth he was pelted by something that was both soft, and really, really cold! "Hey!" He turned around and someone thrust a bucket of cotton-balls into his hand and that ran away yelling "You're in now!" Did that mean he had to throw these things at people? With a smirk, he sought out his siblings.
Camrine smiled as she picked up the familiar with a warm smile. She loved his red fur with the white drops. Already she was thinking about knitting a sweater for her new little friend. Then Cam picked out a bought a book to read, she could imagine curling up with a cup of hot coco, Berry on her lap. Reading the new book she picked up. She smiled warmly just thinking about it.
Coco shyly entered the festival area, she found a simple, common bell to play with. Coco tied it to a piece of her hair so she would jingle when she walked. Then Coco went to play another game, she won a plushie. Coco shyly asked for the plushie that looked like a seal.
Glykeria skipped through the fairgrounds, looking for fun stuff to do and new people to meet. She tried her hand at a few games, before giving up she did find a new book that looked fun, though.
Jasper and somehow managed to drag Nihls off to the Carnival with him. This was a big event, not only for the Winter Solstice and the Daydreams, but for him to be with his musical partner. Jasper had simply been so inspired by the litch when he'd seen him play. It barely mattered that the music he played wasn't suited to his usual style. He just wanted to dance to it anyway! He needed to branch out some anyway, he couldn't really make a living just break-dancing all of the time.
"We should play some games first~!" And with that said he slide his arm around Nihls' arm and took off into the crowds. He was always pretty good at squirming his way through them and despite Nihls being taller than him he kept them clear of running into anything. Somewhere along the line he was given a stocking, which already had a cute pair of bell earrings in them, but he was more concerned with finding a cute prize to win.
He spotted the ring toss game and stood in line. They were giving away cute little salamanders! He'd always wanted one. They were easy pets to care for and totally adorable. He only let go of Nihls once it was his turn to toss the rings on the bottles, which he certainly took his time doing. He couldn't mess this up after all! The very last one was close, the ring spun on a bottle for the longest time before finally dropping over the top properly.
"Score!" Jasper threw his fist into the air with a little victory pose just for fun, and then picked out one of the adorable red stripped salamanders.
Ryuthulhu
For Nihls! ♥

The book safely stowed away in zeir bookbag and the stocking rolled up and tucked away, Zalir wandered over to the next event. There were an awful lot of games around. How could zey choose between them all? Going in order, of course. Some booths would let you go multiple times, but the paper jar had not. The next game looked like a multi-try game, though. This one was horseshoes--a hand-eye coordination game. Zalir didn't always do very well on those, but there was an opportunity for prizes here, and zey would be foolish to pass it up.
Zey accepted four plastic horseshoes from the attendant and whispered "thank you." Zey positioned zemselves carefully and threw.
Zeir throw earned zem a book. Zey picked a promising looking fantasy novel and prepared for another throw.
The darts booth was offering Bath another go. They had enough space for at least three people to play at once, and replacing the balloons was apparently pretty easy. Bath shrugged, stepped aside to let someone else have a go, then stepped forward for his second try when they had finished. He picked up another dart, aimed, and threw.
The card inside the balloon entitled him to another book. Bath scooped up one with a promising title--sounded like a thriller. Then he caught sight of the cover. He covered a groan. A romance? A torrid romance! Gross. Oh well, he'd made his decision.
The day had gotten off to a good start. Xeno had a book that Dad had recommended to him--which was as good as a gift, really!--and a new stuffed animal. He'd have to take down his neighbor's big book of mythology to figure out a name for this one. He didn't know very many goats from mythology! But he'd figure something out, he was sure. He and Jurvik wandered over to an area in the center that had been fenced off with rope. Tires, traffic cones, and blocks had been set up in three lines, each one longer than the one to its left. A Demon was seated in a fold-out chair next to it.
"Excuse me? Um, what's this?" Jurvik asked.
The Demon smiled. "Obstacle course! Well, courses. One for freshlings, one for juniors, and one for seniors and adults. You and your...father? Can both go if you'd like."
Xeno smiled. It was nice that someone had recognized that Jurvik was his dad! "I'd love to! Um, can I leave my stuff here?"
The Demon nodded and pointed to a very large plastic bucket beside them. "Of course! I'll keep them safe right here, I promise."
An obstacle course, eh? That sounded either very fun or very awkward. He was, after all, wearing a kilt... Well, good thing he'd put on a pair of bike shorts underneath. "Sounds like a deal you've got there!" He set down his bags next to Xeno's in the bucket, and lined up.
"Ready--set--go!" the Demon cried.
Jurvik and Xenophon took off on their respective courses. They did okay, though not exceedingly well. They had earned some prizes, though, and that was good enough for Jurvik at least. Xeno was frowning, though.
"Would you like another go?" the Demon asked.
Xeno nodded. "Yes, please. I like earning prizes, but I don't think I did very well. I think I could do better."
As a naturally, easily distracted Nightmare, Gaius was even more so with all the festive designs that were strewn all about. He had naturally started to just follow all the decorations that were covering the interior of the hallways, pupils sharper than ever with awe! He seemed oblivious to the excited squeals and dashing classmates that would tear past him as he continued to take his time in admiring the scene that was around him.
Eventually, though, his distracted meandering lead him to one of the grand doors that lead outside, Pushing it open, his tiny wings twitched with surprise at the boom of extra festive additions. Booths! tottering out, his eyes flickered from one to the next, venturing over to get a closer look at a few. When he met his first booth owner, they were kind enough to lean down and offer a small, cute plush to him. Accepting it with a light smile, the Geist looked it over, and gave a 'Thanks' in return. Plushes were pretty nice. But he knew someone who would probably appreciate it more... mulling over his decision on what to do, he let his gaze wander again, overlooking Elli at first, but backtracking when his mind caught up.
Oh hey, he knew them.
After the small delay, he walked over to them to peer at what had their attention. When he spied the precious sprout, his interest was instantly taken, "Whoa..." he murmured in a starstruck tone, "Nice find."
Remaining where the music was being played, Ziron thought upon what else they want to do today. They could get some food? After all, many of these foods wouldn't be here come after the season, since they were holiday foods. While they were thinking though, they were handed a think of peanut brittle. It sure looked good! Now for them to get some peppermint flavored hot chocolate. Yumm!
Candy ( 7 )
Bringing Phyre to the game booths, Candy brought her daughter to a game that involved tick tack toe. The two of them could play it together and get on better terms again. After Phyre won (And not because Candy let her), Candy was given a thing of candy canes. Seemed fitting enough for her. Maybe it was time to get her freshling some food? ", Time to get something to eat Phyre. Anything you want specifically?"
Phyre ( 17 )
Phyre quite enjoyed playing this game with her mother, creaming Candy at this game of tick tack toe. Was Candy really this bad at such a simple game? No worries, because her mother still got a prize for effort, and she had gotten this really cool bracelet!
Now it was time for food according to Candy, her being asked what she would like to eat. Looking around, she saw lots of things that looked good ", Something sweet, like me!"
Lazarus ( 13 )
Still just sitting around, Lazarus found himself being given a hair of antlers and another plushie. Maybe the other nightmares around were giving him stuff to try and cheer him up? Well, it wasn't working, but they were right. He shouldn't be sad come this time of year. He should be having fun!
Yihad ( 10 )
After visiting a few booths, Yihad found humself being given yet another book. This time it was a fantasy that Yihad quite enjoyed, The Goblet of Secrets. Hu had actually been thinking of getting it from the library to read again, so it was a good thing it had been given to hum.
Vivek ( 13 )
Coming to one of the stands, Vivek saw the bucket of what looked to be cotton balls. What were those for? When the nightmare in charge of the booth saw Vivek, he offered the freshling a chance to touch the cotton balls. Touch them? Why would he want to do that? No matter, Vivek did as was told, touching them and feeling the coldness against his hands. Wait... was this supposed to be like snow? He had never seen or touched snow, but he had been told it was cold.
After the booth owner explained what it was, he then gave Vivek the bucket and something else, a plushie that Vivek had never seen before. Well, Vivek liked it anyway.
Somansh ( 3 )
Coming to a booth with a bunch of plants as prizes, Somansh decided that she wanted to have one of them. She loved nature, so why not have some plants in her dorm room? After barely winning the trivia game, she close the plant with the blue pot, also being given a kidden plushie.
Jacintha ( 19 )
Jacintha continued to run around the festival, stopping at pretty much every booth. When she came to one of the booths, the owner simply just smiled at her and handed the freshling some candy canes and this gigantic plushie. Best day ever for sure!
"How could you not want to see it?!" Odessa stood up in exclamation but when she realized how loud and perhaps rude she had been, she sat back down sheepishly. A blush was beginning to burn at her cheeks and she frowned, "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that.." She tried to apologize though she wasn't sure how Kara would take it. "I just... I mean.. I've been excited since I first heard about the Above as a kid, and now that it's open.. I can't wait to see it and all the Daydreams that will start popping up at school." She wrapped her arms around her chest, pushing her book close. "All the things to see... and do... I can just imagine that it'll be great!" She had a dreamy touch to her eyes again.
Kiessi smiled at their mother, tugging her arm gently as they presented her with a small package that contained a pair of earrings they had picked up earlier. They knew it wasn't much, but they hoped she liked them!
Kara's head tilted when she heard Odessa's outburst and she nearly jumped. She had never seen Odessa being quite so forward before. When she finally calmed down, Kara took a breath and tried to steady herself, she knew that she hadn't meant it that way, though something did strike a small cord within her. "I guess that's just where we're different." Kara tried to explain. "I dunno.. I'm more worried about things that are than what could be. I'm not saying that's a bad thing.. but it's just not me." Taking a breath, she stood up and looked around. "Though, I think if we're going to make it to the festival, we should get out there before it gets over. But one more thing.." She grabbed something and looked at Odessa. "I got these for us. They're little cacti. I thought they might be neat to grow together."
Anara was looking around at all the treats that she loot, when she spotted a small little mouse flitting around. She smirked, pulled up one of the treats and offered it to the flitterrat.
Rorie was still wandering around when he spotted the candy canes. He just stood there, staring for a while until the attendant noticed and pulled them down for him with a small smile. "Thanks!" He exclaimed and began pulling one out when he noticed the look that his caregiver gave him. He frowned, sighing a little and handed her the candy. Well.. there was always later he guessed.
