Hearing her mother finally leave Kaia's eyes opened tentatively. Once she confirmed that she was indeed alone Kaia rose from her nest before giving a quick shake of her body to get off the colorful feathers her mother had placed as a blanket off. As much as Kaia was enjoying the story of the ocean, it also had served a bigger purpose. It had gotten her thinking about the idea floating around in her head to leave The Flock for the outside world. As much as it would break her Mother and her Sister's hearts...Kaia felt there was no other choice at this point. She couldn't handle much more of this everyday torment!

It wasn't like she was thinking she could raise herself from now on, oh no! Kaia had made detailed mental logs about every little detail her mother let loose about their father, every map of the Kawani land she had seen drawn with a talon in the dirt, all the warnings of the dangers. Kaia had a plan to escape this life and start anew out there, finding her father and learning her true purpose in life.

Taking a quick glance back to where her mother had stormed off Kaia frowned grimly. Knowing her mother's temper she would be gone most of the night. As much as Kaia wanted to believe her mother that this wouldn't happen again Kaia had a sickening gut feeling that, yes, it would happen again. And again. And again. Till she was finally broken down.

Kaia couldn't stand the thought of that bleak future she faced. Surly the great spirits had more in plan for her than what was offered here!

So with that grim reminder of just what was at stake Kaia got the boost of courage to bound off, heading to her hiding spot that she was using to mark out her great escape and plan out how to work around the strict patrols that were non-stop around The Flock's territory.

Kaia had one shot at this. Every little detail had to be calculated. A plan worked out how to counter any issue she might face. Even then Kaia knew it would take some serious luck and the spirits on her side to be able to pull this feat off.

But spirits be damned she had to try.
