post 8 almost there! Not too mention holidays! My family is big on them so my time writing is just.. gone....

Sanele chuckled; his way of life would have less stress without the need of money!
"I wish I didn't need the money and could just go out and claim some land but then I'd be too far out of the city to really attract customers.... Need money to make money. I could just have a farm for fun I guess..." Her nose wrinkled at that. To live without a purpose was... lacking to her. She needed that goal to keep moving to not be bored.

She chuckled at the mention of the perzi collecting old ladies; "If we'd have had the food for it y mother would have been one." She said wryly. "Now that we do she's turning into one... Personally I prefer them larger, scalier, and with beaks!" She definitely planned on being a crazy xaraan lady!

Sanele listened eagerly to his plans; it all did sound grand! "Collecting music and dancers like I want to collect beasts eh?" She grinned. "I think Yeal sounds fascinating! All super secret and mysterious... pity about the crazy alks that live there now... I think they'd find you as exotic as you'd find them honestly! They probably haven't seen blue people before." She chuckled.

“Well, that’s your calling.” He grinned when Sanele explained she preferred her creatures… well, more zaraan-like. “The bigger they get, the more they eat! But you know what far better than most, I’m sure. Anyway, there’s good money in the xaraan trade, as far as I can make out. The moment your stock wins enough races and turns enough heads, I’m sure your venture will take off before you know it.”

Her comparison between her beast collection and his music research drew a surprised grin to his face. Why, it was oddly similar, wasn’t it? He’d never thought about it that way.

“Well, right, the extremists. I was just about to say that music-collecting is probably a lot more safe and peaceful than beast-gathering, but… you’ve gone and reminded me that it might not be the case, if I end up with an angry alk on my tail. It’s not like I haven’t had run-ins with bandits and the like already… it’s the funniest thing, folks thinking that all this costume jewellery is the sign of a rich man. Really, it’s just silly. Have you seen any rich nobles going around dressed up like this?”

He shook his arm around to display some of his ostentatious jewellry, and the sound roused the little blue kitten. He stretched out a tiny paw and batted at a golden bangle.

“Aw, you little sweetcake.” Match pursed his lips, nudging the creature’s nose with the tip of his finger. “Thanks again for this little fellow. I think we’ll get along well.”

post 9!!!! Hmm you appear to be awakening my writing muses a bit.. perhaps this focusing on one character is what I needed to get back to writing...

"There is." She nodded in agreement. "Though I also race; its helped big time getting money to buy xaraans of my own! Hopefully I can make a name for myself racing and it will help with the farm." Racing was far ore than just making money to her though; she adored it for the thrills and sheer speed and adrenaline rush!

Sanele laughed when he mentioned bandits not being able to tell costume jewelry fromt he real thing. "You'd think they'd realize you're traveling musicians and they don't exactly have a lot of valuables!... But then they are bandits and smart people don't become bandits."

Sanele smiled softly as the kitten woke up. "No problem. I like finding happy homes for critters... means they get as much joy as their owners do an at least they'll live longer."

if that works for you, sure!
i go a little stir-crazy working on just one at a time, but... it does get overwhelming trying to do everything at once.

“Well, of course. It’s all about the racing at the end of the day, isn’t it? That’s what people really want to see.” He wrinkled his nose, thinking of all the crowded events he’d had a chance to attend. “You know, I’m sure some folks will tell you it’s all about the money that the racetracks and big-time gamblers make, but that’s nonsense. Even when I went to races as a slave, I loved it. You got your heart set on one racer winning -- maybe you liked the looks of their xaraan, or maybe you just liked the looks of them, and then… when they edged towards the finish line, it didn’t really matter if you were a slave or the richest noble.”

He shrugged and turned to laugh at her comment about bandits and their apparent lack of smarts. He wasn’t sure if that was entirely true -- he’d heard word of many a clever bandit making a good go of robbing Oban caravans right in the wake of the war… but in any case, the sorts of bandits who tried to rob travelling Matori musicians clearly weren’t that clever breed.

“Well, we’ll see how happy this one is once I start hauling him back and forth across Tendaji. Once I set out by myself, I’m not expecting to enjoy the comforts of a wagon like I do with the troupe. It’ll be back to sleeping out under the stars for me, like I did when I was younger.”

"It is." She nodded in agreement. It was the thrill of the race, feeling the xaraan's strength and speed through your legs, hearing the roars of the crowd....
"He ought to be fine; might need a special bag so he can sleep in it as you travel." She shrugged. Czar did just fine sitting perched on her shoulder or one of her Xaraans when ever she had to leave and took him with her.
"Czar does just fine and always manages to find me even after he goes wandering!" She gave the small kittens in her bundle a pet before nodding at Vodanyoi.

"I'm off to give these ones away before I head off to go train my newest xaraan-- good luck on your travels!"
