.........................................

Zulfiqar had kept his eyes keenly aware of the changing scenery as they moved further and further from his home. Each passing day seemed to solidify his decision and the fact that there would be no turning back. He hadn't been naive enough to think it might have been a possibility of doing so, but it had been a bit of an annoying lingering sentiment.

At least the conversation with Twilight had been pleasant enough.

Even more so as she explained their nearing of the final destination. The surroundings were... quite... different than the harsh environment of the Dragnid, the peacefully colorful flowers almost sickeningly sweet to the eye. It about took all his conscience to not grimace in reaction; that would have been rude, after all. Couldn't be offending the other mother when he already had one on his tail. What a pain.

The teen could not hide his dumbfoundment at the sight of the cat darting away, however. Staring, eyes wide and mouth ever so slightly agape, he reactively moved out of her way and, in doing so, closer to Twilight. How were they okay with such a... beast... living with them?! His eyes narrowed and he turned to look at it running into the distance, about ready to bare his fangs and defensively hiss, when he heard a distinctively different voice call out for 'the boy.'

It took but a moment for him to regain his composure as he turned to face her. How different. Much preferable to the one he'd been traveling with; much more like Twilight.

"The pleasure is all mine."

As her sister bounded into view, she couldn't help but feel the warmth melting her cold exterior. Dayht always had a way of lighting up the darkest corner. Apollo leaving had cast a shadow over her, but Twilight had brought her shining again. Her eyes flicked back to the two teens, just catching Zulfiqars dumbfounded look after Trill.

So...he didn't like cats? The faintest smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. She knew where Trill was sleeping tonight.

"Yes. That's...the boy. I'm going to freshen up." As she spoke she moved more into the house, heading towards the washroom. Days of journey she was looking forward to washing the grime of the woods.

Dayht paid no mind to his behavior towards the feline, suspecting that he was simply surprised by her. No, she was far more interested in him as a whole. He did look like Twilight! Reminded her of Mama Blues all those seasons ago freaking out about nasty snake buggers. But he didn't seem all that bad. "I'm sure you already know who I am, but it's impolite not to introduce myself." The bright fae smiled brilliantly while lifting a hand out to him. "I'm Dayht. I know it's not much, but I hope that you'll grow to see this place as home. Come on inside, I'll show you around."

Was he afraid...of her cat? She couldn't help but smirk at his agape face before feeling her face warm as he shuffled closer to her. She didn't know if he was considered attractive for their kind, but he was certainly attractive to her. "I'll see you later mom." Twilight called out as Niday left, but of course the midnight fae didn't so much as look towards her.

Still in the snakehouse. Curses.

Her focus shifted to Dayht, the day fae all but beaming at Zulfiqar. So embarrassing. But a better welcome than Niday had given.

Zulfiqar was not one to become so easily flustered by his moment of reaction, but it did remain certainly embarrassing. Best to continue on as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened, and hopefully they would not think anything of the outburst. Still... If they had seen some of he felines he'd encountered in the Dragnid... perhaps they too would be more wary of keeping even a small one nearby. Never knew what they were cunning, when they might strike.

Ahem.

"And I, as I am sure you have heard from Twilight, am called Zulfiqar." He smiled what appeared to be a genuine smile and firmly shook her hand (what a strange greeting custom these vermin had), finishing with. "I do hope so as well, as I also hope you will be patient in my adjustment to your very different accommodations." It reminded him somewhat, the exterior at least, of Venus' Temple, not that he had any other structures to really compare it to.

At her reques
t, he came closer so that he might enter and be shown around the house, pausing only to glance back at Twilight and see if she too would follow.

And he was polite! After slipping her hand from his she took a step to the side to let him in. "As long as you make an honest effort you'll be welcomed. And outside of Niday's current tizzy she's generally patient. Just give her some time, she'll warm up to you." With a sympathetic smile she turned into the home, heading left. "So down this hallway is the kitchen. Don't mind the wash bin, I was doing some dishes." The fae spoke as they entered the decent sized room, as it also served as their eating space. A table to the side, counters and cabinets along one side. Everything hand made by Niday -with some help from Raken. There were large windows that dotted the walls to let a lot of natural light in, and a little plant that hung in one of them. "We meet here most mornings and nights for breakfast and dinner. Lunch you typically get yourself when ever you are hungry."

Of course Twilight followed Zulf and Dayht inside, closing the door after them. The warmth and familiar smells eased her stress. It wasn't much, but home was home. As they slithered into the kitchen she wondered how different it was from his life. Did dragnid homes have kitchens? Did they sit down at a table and talk about their day? Probably not. It must seem so bizarre to him. She stole a glance in the corner of her eye at the male, wanting to gauge his reaction. Hopefully he wouldn't be overwhelmed at all of this.

Zulfiqar responded with a polite nod of the head as he motioned ahead of Dahyt, making notice to not hit her with his tail as he did so. Although she would be the one to know if that black one truly was more pleasant most of the time, the snek still found himself somewhat unconvinced. She was cold enough that the beasts of Dragnid would have likely found camaraderie within her. She certainly had found companionship with the lesser of one such beast in the form of that horrific feline. Eris be damned he would never understand such a choice in pet.

Wash bin? What in the...?

At the mentioning of some peculiar tools, the snek was pulled from his thoughts back to the present, his eyes looking to each and every way in the kitchen. While not entirely unfamiliar - Venus' Temple had a large room of similar make - he found himself questioning the practical value of such things. Would they not simply be in the way when it came to the dismemberment and distribution of their prey items? Perhaps it was to catch the blood (these others must have difficulty in their eating)? Breakfast and dinner were other new concepts; a strange gathering of sorts associated with the daily rhythm of morning and evening?

He looked over to Twilight, a small smile on his face as his eyes met hers. Oh, such wonderful naivete... All his for the taking, for the training, for the breaking. It was already far, far too late to be having cold scales about his decision. There was only one thing left to do: finish.

After a moment, he broke his gaze to focus on Dayht, nodding when appropriate as she continued on about the peculiarities of their abode. Soon enough he'd have the social customs of this culture memorized and perfected.

Happily buzzing along, Dayht started to move out of the kitchen to the next room connecting it. The sitting room. Larger than the kitchen, the space was needed for the various furniture. "Ah, the sitting room. This is where we typically unwind during the evenings. We play small games here, read -though we dont have very many books- meditate, or what ever activity you like to relax with." A large comfortable chair in the corner and a cushioned couch with a table in front of it. A bookshelf against the walls held the few books they had, only a handful. Raken gave them the ones he had reread so many times they were memorized. So nothing fun. Books about biology, one a strategy type book, another about light reflections. Sometimes Niday would brave one.

The highlight was the fireplace on the opposite end, a source of comfort and warmth during the winter nights. "Be careful about sitting too long though or Trill will visit you." She spoke with a light giggle, noting how previously he had seemed frazzled about the cat.

When their gaze locked she felt her face warm. He smiled, for her. Her stomach felt tingly, like someone was tickling her. The naga followed her mom to the sitting area and slightly grinned at Dayhts warning. "Trill will sit on you all day if you let her."

Zulfiqar's eyes continued to lazily look around the house, taking note of the details of where each of the items she mentioned was and its supposed use. Everything seemed simple enough, although he wasn't quite so sure what she meant by the phrase books. Apparently they were those items sitting upon a storage vessel by the wall. As to what they could possible hold that would be valuable, he was unsure, but the naga was, too, unfamiliar with the concept of literacy. For all his knowledge, those 'books' could be small chests or the like.

He had to restrain himself from instinctively making a grimace at the thought of the cat paying him particular heed. There was little he wanted less than that.

"I... shall keep that in mind..." His eyebrow and smile may have just twitched a bit right there.

"Just make sure to put back or away anything you pull out. With an additional pae underfoot its easy to make this place messy." With that she turned and walked out through to the kitchen to go back to the hallway. "So on that side of the house is the kitchen and sitting room. On the other is the bedrooms and washroom." As she walked she seemed to slightly sway with a little pep in her step. She stopped at the first room, but the wooden door was closed. "This is the washroom. I'd show you but...Niday is still in there. So you can just poke in there later. There's a large basin for baths, towels, a mirror...We don't have running water obviously, we aren't Headquarters or the City, but its a nicer set up than some folks." Continuing along. A few steps forward and there was another door. "This is Niday's room. And I guess mine now. We can't have you staying with Twilight obviously so we've tweaked my old room. Which is next!"

Twilights attention changed to her mother at the mention of rooms. "You...gave up your room mom?" She had just assumed they'd stick him in the living room or something. Mom is so, so nice. Doing this for me. Convincing Niday to let Zulf stay, giving up her room, welcoming him. She was the best mom.

Zulfiqar's increasingly-glossy eyes were the synergistic result of two conflicting emotions: boredom and general overwhelment. This culture of theirs was even more bizarre and outlandish than he could have possibly imagined. What in Eris' name was the purpose of most of it? Some of the phrases he was familiar with, others he'd likely recognize after seeing them due to his time spent in Venus' Temple. But for the most part, the information being spoken to him went in one pointed ear and out the other.

Nod, nod, his head went.

He wasn't sure what she meant by him having his own room. He was an outsider, after all, not one of their kin at all. Where others might have felt some sort of warmth or humbleness from the action, the snek instead felt something akin to disgust. It was almost creepy how far she was willing to go... The dark one's poignant attitude might have been more preferable to such an ignorance.

Still, as the two began to converse between themselves, he maintained a quiet, small presence. No benefit to be had for speaking out.

"Well I figure it won't be long. One day you'll be old enough and leave me." She spoke with a chuckle, but was tinged with bittersweet sadness. Of course every parent knew the kids would leave to start their own lives, but it seemed to be coming so quickly. She continued down to the next door and opened it. "Here is your room. It might be a bit...I don't know, 'girlie'? But again, this was my room." She'd moved most of her things into Niday's room. Poor, poor Niday. Including her bed and most of her knicknacks. But she did put up a makeshift cot, made from boards, a thick 'mattress' that was a large sleeve stuffed with wool, and a bear skin blanket from Raken. There was a large window which let in the sunlight, and various shelves that were largely empty since she took her things. But the walls were decorated with painted clouds, pressed flowers, and the room smelled of honeysuckles.

With a deep breath, she moved towards the last room. "And down here is Twilights room." Dayht reached out to open the door.

She really emptied out her room! Dayht had acquired a lot of items which meant...oh Nidays room would be crammed. Added reason for Niday to be displeased with Zulfs arrival. They moved forward, towards her room. Her room. "NO!" The naga suddenly yelled as she dashed forward to put herself between her door and Dayht. Eyes narrowed, her brow furrowed. "MY room! I don't want him there." Why was she angry? She was always normally...territorial about her room. But for some reason the thought of Zulf going into her room was just...no. Couldn't happen. She couldn't fathom it.

'Girlie' was an understatement for the general atmosphere of the room shown to Zulfiqar. Its demeanor was so utterly different from his own that it might even be fair to call the room a foil to his persona, just as Dayht was clearly one from her sister Niday (the snake had, in fact, noticed the similarities and differences between them, appearance- and personality-wise). He couldn't help but wonder how utterly rubbish is had been with all of its previous items inside, much like the fey herself. At least this one was less irritating than the other had been. He likely wouldn't do much to the room itself; he was but a temporary resident. Even if it was "his," his knowledge of etiquette stated he shouldn't do anything too dramatic to mark it as his own.

Now what he was interested in was how his future mate pretty little female kept her own space. Would it be like this, or would it surprise him?

A single eyebrow rose as he watched her outburst, his interest clearly piqued by how the edges of his lips rose into a coy smile. It seemed this one still had some instinct remaining. Good. In that case, it would be even easier to do what he wished with her in time.

As he dampened his expression, he looked onwards towards Dayht almost apologetically. "I thank you for all this; it really is far too much for a stranger." He would help distract Dayht from Twilight by speaking now. This would certainly earn him some favor with the both of them. "If it is not asking too much of you, I really am quite tired..." he softened his voice as he feigned fatigue and a yawn. Surely she would take the inexplicit cue.

Her hand stretched out to the door. NO! The shout echoed in and down the hallway as a purple blur shoved itself in between her grasp and the door. Dayhts pale eyes widened in shock, completely caught off guard with the outburst. "Twilight! What has gotten..." She bit her tongue, wanting to choose her next words carefully. Zulf was there, watching. He was new to everything, and would be judging her reaction towards Twilight. What her discipline was like, what was tolerated. Before she had fully planned on what to say however, their new guest spoke up. She turned her gaze from the narrow stare of her daughter to the much sweeter -in comparison- face of Zulf. "I'm sorry. It has been a long day for both of you. You guys traveled a long ways." She shot though a pointed look at the female snake. She'd chalk this short temper to being tired from the long trip. But they would talk about this later.

Looking back at Zulf she smiled sympathetically. "Go on and rest, you can explore outside later. Don't worry, I'll knock ts dinner time so you don't miss out."[b/]

She knew as soon as her name left Dayhts mouth that she was in trouble. But she still wouldn't - couldn't move. It was HER room and she wasn't comfortable with Zulf seeing it. She didn't know why specifically him. She liked Zulf. He had been nothing but polite and here she was acting like a crazy pae about something as silly as viewing her room. But she still couldn't move. She HAD to stand her ground even as the wheels spun in her mothers head thinking of how to chastise her.

Then Zulf spoke, and thank the Goddesses he did. She visibly relaxed as the pressure came off of her. "Y-yes. I'm, really really tired." That had to be it. They were right. She gave a small, grateful smile at the male for saving her tail. "A nap sounds like a good idea."

Zulf's eyes flickered over to Twilight as Dayht's attention came off of her, not ignoring the clear change in behavior. Looked like that spine of hers wasn't long-lived after all. Well, that in it itself wasn't so terribly bad; in fact, it would probably be beneficial for his purposes. She was already (figuratively) dancing exactly as he wanted her to on his outstretched palm, with time, it would come as second-nature to her.

He flashed her a minute smile as he turned his attention back to Dayht.

Raising his hand to his head, he rubbed the back of it while (again) feigning a weary laugh. "Yes, it has been quite far, hasn't it." and most of the stress had come from trying to maintain his composure and facade around that black demon. "I would appreciate that greatly, thank you." He offered her a small nod of recognition before turning to return to her his room. It was time to begin the rest of his life here.

Here within this absurd "Clan Tartara."
