As Talisia looked back so did Dris'rynne. It was hard not to, knowing what she was walking away from. For the briefest of moments she closed her eyes, took a slow inhale and exhaled. The attempt was half-assed at best, though it allowed her enough clarity to keep moving.

Nodding, she turned onto a well worn path, and led the way through the jungle. The glowing fungi that kept the eternally darkened ground levels bright seemed dull compared to their usual vibrancy. Through her eyes all were a sort of monotone grey, mixed with red and images of her mother. She rounded a rather large tree trunk, slipped down a little embankment and walked over to the forge. It's shelter was a mismatched building, one that might have been considered 'ugly' but it was formidable to withstand not only the humidity of Jauhar but the heat from within.

Thankfully, there was no smoke emanating from the chimney, which meant she could avoid her grandfather for a few more hours. Dris'rynne reached out to touch the door...though she didn't open it. Instead she allowed her hand to fall as she turned back to look at Talisia. "Your...brother, what is he like?"

Talisia' heart weighed her down as they went towards the forge. Not only was Briza hurting, but so was Dris. Just the thought made Talisia's chest knot up. All of the shame of her heritage seemed to slam down on her. Once she had gloated that she had the best father in Zena...and now to find that he was someone else's that he should have never been her's...it broke her heart. All of those years of abuse under her mother's reign and she had never taken a moment to wonder why her father had fallen in love with the Zenan.

I was such a fool.

Thankful that the forge appeared vacant for the time being, Talisia stumbled at the sudden question. "Ciaran?" She replied as the name sent a knife through her chest. How was she supposed to let Dris know that her twin...Dris'rynne's half-brother may be dead for all she knew? It made her sick to her stomach and the girl had to hug herself in support, "He was a lot like fa...Kaleo. He looks so much more shifter than me and was great with music. Our mother..." She almost spat the vile word, "Kept him close once Kaleo passed away, but he would risk so much to help me out." She smiled softly, "He was a very noble sort for that and always made me feel safe." Even on those days he had treated her with such cold indifference she understood now. Everything he did was to protect her from their mother.

It was such an odd concept that the word 'brother' stuck in her mind. Dris'rynne couldn't let it go. Of course she'd know that Talisia had one, but she hadn't bothered to ask in depth questions before today. It hadn't been necessary; not then. Now it was a strange truth that rang true for her.

Dris'rynne wasn't the oldest of three, but of five.

She could understand his protective instincts. Dris'rynne had sacrificed much of her own youth just to take care of her sisters, and dealing with her mother's depression was an everyday battle. If he was still alive out there...she wanted to see him. To meet him, even if just for the one time, just so she could visually confirm that a brother existed.

Without saying a word she pushed the door to the forge open and walked inside. It was cold, quiet, and without the usual sounds that filled the space. Dris'rynne didn't stop until she was next to a grinding stone, and then she sat down at the stool in front of it. She lowered her face until it rested against her knees.

Talisia just watched Dris. Such talk had left a confused knot in her chest and now bringing up Ciaran only served to make it worse. If possible her guilt already was doubled and she felt like just disappearing on the spot, "He should be the one here, not me." She finally admitted in the silence. It was true. Ciaran could have dealt with this situation and easily talked anyone into a smooth reunion. He was much more gifted with charisma than Talisia. Even if she felt like her mask was perfect, his was so much more. Better yet that he could make genuine feelings through his music and calm any storm.

Even as she walked into the forge, Talisia blinked back stinging tears. As Dris seemed so defeated Talisia wanted to reach out to her, comfort her in someway. Yet fear and uncertainty held her back, "He saved my life when I left. She, our mother, tried to kill me." The confession came out as the softest sigh, "I don't even know what happened to him since he yelled at me to run." Not caring for her skirts the girl settled on the floor and brought her legs up against her chest, "I'm so sorry, Dris. If I had known....I would have never bothered you with any of this. My existence...our father...none of it."

To her it didn't matter if he had been the one here over Talisia; facts were facts and this was how life had turned out. She didn't want to move. She wanted to stay hunched over with her face buried, forehead pressed against the grinding stone until things made sense again.

Dris'rynne didn't blame Talisia or Ciaran for having the father she should have known. She didn't blame her mother for likely chasing him off, nor Kaleo for leaving in the first place. It was just...a lot of information to try and process all at once.

"You couldn't have prevented it," she murmured, rising only slightly so that she sat a little straighter on the stool. "Sooner or later we would have found out the truth." She turned her gaze so that her one good eye could see Talisia. "All we can do now is wait out mother's tantrum and move forward." Dris'rynne held a hand out to Talisia with the ghost of a smile. "I don't expect you to call me sister, but I'll be here for you, all the same."

"I suppose." But she could have prevented it by never stepping foot in Jauhar. If she had just kept to her place in the shadows locked away in Zena then Dris may have kept her happy family. Now everything seemed so askew...and Talisia felt like it was all her fault. What if Kaleo had stayed here? She could have been born a full blooded shifter, even if she had still existed, and life would have been so much different. Ciaran and she both could have lived as they pleased, not hiding cause of their mixed blood.

"You think?" Blinking tears from her eyes, the hybrid glanced up in surprise to see the hand. "Really?" She had felt so shattered, but seeing Dris standing there as if she could accept her touched the girl's heart. "Thank you...Dris." She smiled faintly, "Same here. I suppose it just means we have more to rely on now." She had lost her brother, but now had a sister? Maybe even one day she could even call Dris sister, but for now at least she had a friend who she could count on. It was a start.

Only the future could tell exactly what would happen to them and their paths. But for now she had to focus on the present and on living life the best that she could.
