JUDGES, HERE ARE YOUR ENTRIES! Entry #1
Teacher Name: Jeanine - #2 Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Ceramics – Academy and/or Grendel
Personality:
Jeanine loves to work with her hands. So much so that it’s rare to see them empty. She loves to help out anyone who needs it whenever she can and adores working with kids. The girl has a generous heart and she’ll freely give time, money, or items to her friends if they ask it of her. Ceramics is her main passion and she’s unashamedly kept almost everything that she’s finished. Unfortunately, this means that there are heaps of various ceramic work cluttering up her home that she should probably get rid of. There’s no such thing as a stranger in her mind, just people that you’ve yet to get to know very well. Jeanine smiles widely and often and tries to enjoy life to the fullest every day.
She was raised by the academy and would love to return and enrich the young minds there.
Example Activities: These are all general ideas for classes, when the class gets set up, the instructions will be more specific and ‘fun’. Most of the activities can and will be adjusted for specific age groups.
Bring me a shrubbery pot! – Find and post a picture of a ceramic item. (This could be specific or general, ie. Find me a ceramic cup, vase, figure, doll, etc.) Practicing on the wheel – Roll a 20 sided dice, anything over 5 passes and the higher the roll the better the practice turned out. Presentation – Write an rp where your nightmare ‘presents’ some pieces they’ve worked on and whether or not they like them Quiz – a list of questions about what the students have learned so far. Alternatively, this could also be made into a ‘What does your nightmare know’ type of thing. Know your vocab. – A quiz on various ceramic terms and their meanings. Could be made to be a matching worksheet as well.
Personality: Myra is young for an adult, and because of that she still has some of her innocent charm. She loves to laugh and can often be found smiling, no matter what she's going through on the inside. She is an encouraging teacher, wanting to see her students flourish. She's patient and tries to be as kind as possible, preferring to teach with a soft hand. She cares a lot for all her students.
Around her peers, Myra is often times uncertain. She always feels like she's still that child who is in a class and because of this she can seem a lot younger than she is. She listens to authority well and rarely ever speaks out against it unless she sincerely feels like something is hurting someone she cares about (especially her students). In her spare time she likes to write scripts for plays and is constantly reading. She can be a little bit of a nerd and loves rping games (and board games in general). She loves to host small get-togethers whenever she can, and would often invite her fellow teachers to get to know them better, if it wasn't against the rules.
Example Activities:
Drawing a deep breath, she was happy to see that a few students had made it to her class on time, though it hadn't stopped her heart from jumping into her throat, but she knew she could do this. "Alright class, I'm glad each of you could make it today." She stood up from her desk and smiled at them. "For your first assignment, I'd like you each to pick a paragraph from Hamlet and rehearse it as if you are the character." She pointed toward a pile of books. "Always remember to put emotion into your dialogue, and to make sure your facial expressions match."
Rules: 1. Pick a paragraph from Hamlet (it doesn't have to be long). Feel free to use this thread, if you don't have any particular ones in mind. 2. Write about your character reciting the paragraph, be sure to include facial expressions as well as hand placements. 3. Roll a 100 sided die. 50-100 is a pass. You can try 3 times. 4. Quote ___ with your attendance.
helpful Although he would prefer to be alone much of the time, Shef clearly loves being a teacher and is always looking for ways he might help others in academia or simply in life.
patient Shef loves resolving problems and will eagerly step in to mediate caustic situations, even if they have nothing to do with him and don't seem as though they will be easily resolved. He has an uncanny ability to endlessly listen to problems and appear interested, asking relevant questions and offering assistance even when his mind is elsewhere.
studious When he's not teaching, eating, or sleeping, Sheffield is studying.
indifferent In spite of his almost obsessive need to assist other Nightmares in the pursuit of their studies and goals, Shef can be rather dismissive of people without a defined path. He would never express as much to their faces, but as soon as they are gone, Shef has probably moved on.
loveless Sheffield has a difficult time with deeper, more passionate feelings, especially love, both platonic and romantic.
Example Activities:
Quote:
Find your Expression Number.
Once everyone has taken a seat, Shef gestures toward the board where he has written a brief assignment in his blocky, neat handwriting.
Using the Fadic System, reduce your name to your Expression Number. Write a brief paragraph on whether or not you feel you resonate with your number.
"The Expression Number is also known as the... Destiny Number, though I find that name a bit foolish. We make our own futures, the numbers do not dictate them. They simply show us the most pleasant path we might take and the challenges we face if we stray." He nods faintly. "Anyway. Begin."
Quote:
To find your Expression Number, take your character's full birth name and, using the chart below, list the numbers associated with each letter.
Then add those numbers together. Continue separating your sum and re-adding it until you are left with a single number. Once he has seen that you have finished, Shef will give you a slip of paper with the meaning of your Expression Number on it.
Example:
SHEFFIELD
S = 1 H = 8 E = 5 F = 6 F = 6 I = 9 E = 5 L = 3 D = 4
1 + 8 + 5 + 6 + 6 + 9 + 5 + 3 + 4 = 47
4 + 7 = 11
1 + 1 = 2
Sheffield's Expression Number is 2.
Expression Number sheets:
Quote:
1: This Expression Number represents the pioneering spirit, the risk taker and someone who is willing to put him/herself "out there" and try new things. Extroverted (typically) and very self-confident, sometimes even a bit too self-centered. This card speaks of someone with the desire to win, who will work harder than most to reach his/her goals. Independent and competitive - always growing and striving.

People with a 9 expression number are typically highly artistic and creative and use those talents to promote a cause.
Rules: Find your character's Expression Number. Write a brief paragraph (100 words) from the character's point of view explaining whether or not they feel their Expression Number represents them.

Assess Today's Challenge.
For the purposes of this class, participants will be provided with one day on which the class falls, so that they don't end up with different responses. In this example, I'll use November 30th.
This class begins early, far earlier than most students prefer to be awake. Even Shef is yawning, pressing the back of one hand to his open maw as he reaches for his coffee with the other.
"Seeing as how we have been slotted into this awful class period today, I thought we might have a bit of a prediction as to how the rest of your day might go, since there is so much of it left. Refer to these handouts to find your challenge number for today, then pay attention. Write up a little something telling me if the rest of your day follows the number's suggestion and drop it off in my office. Daily challenge numbers are a relatively new science, so it is quite likely that their predictions will vary wildly from reality."
Quote:
To find your challenge number for today, take your character's birth day and date and follow the following formula. Please use November 30th as the day the class is falling on so that everyone's answers are consistent.
If your character's birthday is March 8th, you would proceed as follows:
Subtract the months from each other: November = 11 March = 3
11 - 3 = 8
Always subtract the smaller number from the larger. You shouldn't have any negative numbers.
Subtract the dates from each other:
30 - 8 = 22
Sum the resulting numbers by splitting them apart until you end up with a single digit.
Your answers were 8 and 22. Do not simply add these numbers. Split them like so:
8 + 2 + 2 = 12
1 + 2 = 3
Your challenge number is 3.
Challenge number predictions:
Quote:
1 and 9: This pair of challenge number indicate that your day will be surprisingly free of hardship. It would be a good time to hang out with friends or conduct business with those Nightmares you normally clash with as today you will find them far more agreeable.
Quote:
2: The number two indicates that you will receive validation from an unexpected source when you least expect it. Be warned, if you try to seek this praise out, it will not materialize.
Quote:
3: You will feel scattered today and find it difficult to complete any small projects you start. The solution? Complete the ones you have been putting off instead.
Quote:
4: You will be tempted by recklessness today. It is up to you to temper it or let it overtake you, but be warned: your choice will greatly influence those you are closest to.
Quote:
5: Perfection reigns supreme. You will be irritated by the untidy, the imperfect, to the point of distraction, and as such some people might accuse you of being overly critical.
Quote:
6: You feel stubborn, challenging any views that go against your own. It might be best to stay away from anyone you wish not to butt heads with today.
Quote:
7: Today is the day of material excess. Watch your wallet and bring a frugal friend on any shopping trips you must make.
Quote:
8: Guard your emotions today. There is a great potential for you to hurt and be hurt, so take care.
Rules: Find your character's Challenge Number for November 30th. Write a brief synopsis (200 words) from the character's point of view on how their day went and if the challenge number predicted it correctly. PM these synopses to my username with the title Today's Challenge - Student's Name. These responses will be posted publicly at the end of the class, so don't send anything you do not want others to see.
Personality: Briena is somewhat reserved when she teaches. Because of this it can be sometimes hard to read her, but she does her best to try not to come off as intimidating. She has a couple problems knowing exactly how to engage herself in a group setting. One on one, she is pensive, and can show some insecurities, but she's also a lot more inviting and sincere. Having spent most of her adult life on her own and as her own boss, has her still trying to learn how best to be a teacher and take direction, while helping those around her.
She is still trying to find her place, however. When comfortable she will become more confident. She loves to smile and giggle at jokes and is always keeping an eye out for ways to get the perfect shot. It's not uncommon to find her lose her thoughts and become distracted by something she sees. Briena loves to travel and to see and experience new things. She's a bit adventurous and can be a little of a daredevil at times. Outside of work it can be hard to pin her down, some might see this as unreliable, but she's usually off trying to constantly improve her technique, believing experience is what makes you the best photographer.
Example Activities:
As the class entered, Briena raised herself to her full height (which honestly wasn't all that impressive, she was short, even for a woman) and smiled softly at her class. "Alright, Ladies and Gentlemen, the first thing we're going to discuss is lighting and the different techniques you can use when shooting people. The first technique we're going to discuss is Split Lighting."
Rules: 1. Fill out this small questionnaire using this site.
1. What are the four common portrait lighting patterns?: 2. What is Split Lighting?: 3. What is it used for?: 4. Where does your lighting have to be to achieve Split Lighting?: 5. What is "Catchlight"?:
2. PM your answers to (insert username here) with the title "Photograpy Assignment".
3. Write a short excerpt saying you attended class.
Entry #5
Teacher Name:Sokeri (Finnish for Sugar) Preferences for Sokeri: 7, 9, 2 Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: For Academy: Intro to Cooking ||| For Grendel: Culinary Arts If focusing on just baking, pastries, and desserts: For Academy: Intro to Desserts ||| For Grendel: Pastries and Baking 101
NOTE!:
The Culinary Arts normally go hand in hand with Hospitality in universities, not to mention the Culinary Arts is a huge field that covers everything from line cooks and prep to fusion chefs and pastry bakers. This is a HUGE field! Ideally Sokeri would just deal with baking and desserts, but if no one else enters to teach this particular field it doesn't make sense to parse it down to just the pastries when there's a lot of potential ground to cover.
If more teachers are hired for the Culinary and Hospitality field I'm ok with Sokeri covering any part of it (since I went to college for it myself and am pretty confident on being able to make classes out of what I went through and pull on real life experience to come up with some ideas).
Personality: Already an accomplished pastry chef, Sokeri worked her way up the line in the back of house for a high-end restaurant, starting out as just a prep hand while attending university herself. After a time she left the restaurant to travel and work at her own pace, finally settling down to open her own bakery in Cassiel's Watch for a time. Though she enjoyed her time immersed in the Fallen culture and came to love Cassiel, it eventually became stifling and she applied to teach her trade instead in Asphodel; the melting pot of so many cultures just as enticing to her as the prospect of passing on her knowledge to the next generation.
Her travels have helped round out her skill as she picked up culture-specific tricks as well as prepare her for handling a diverse customer base. Which will translate to her students. Her experience has granted her patience and understanding. However; the field is demanding and she tends to be blunt and doesn't hesitate to call out bullshit when she sees it, used to correcting other chefs below her and cutting through the kitchen drama without taking sides in order to get orders done in time.
Students that show a genuine interest are encouraged greatly, celebrating in their victories as well as pushing them along for growth. Those that are taking the class just to get an elective out of the way are politely tolerated, and those that are hoping for an 'easy' class to goof off in will quickly find themselves put to work cleaning. All with a brisk efficiency that brooks little nonsense.
When she's not in work-mode, Sokeri enjoys life at a much slower pace. Inventive, creative, and generous she's at her best while surprising her neighbors with cookies she baked while bored and trying out something new. Very outgoing, she normally enjoys being social and enjoys a culturally diverse outlook on life. She's a welcoming 'big mama' sort, but tends to slip into teacher mode and lecture friends and family on what -she- thinks they should do even if not prompted. She means well, but believes her life has given her unique insight into just about every situation (even when it clearly has not). Though she's not quick to anger, she is quick to dismiss things of not being worth her time, rarely wasting her resources (physical or emotional) on situations or people she sees as being detrimental.
This carries over to her students as well. Those that goof off in her class are met with appropriate punishment and responses, but she doesn't waste her time sitting down and talking to them about shaping up and flying right. She figures they'll either figure it out on their own or someone else better suited will guide them. For her, she sees her time and energy better spent on those students that are already trying hard and are focused on improving themselves; to them she gives the best of herself and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure they grow as both students and people.
Example Activities: For Academy - Juniors! The 3-ingredient challenge: Using just three ingredients, come up with a dessert idea. Explain how it's prepared, how it's served, and how it looks. Samples of the dish will be available to the whole class for your fellow students to try. (This opens up rp possibilities with other students and is super important for relationship building; giving them a chance to interact with each other. They'll have to create their own rp threads though to keep the Classroom thread from getting too cluttered.)
--------------------------------------- For Grendel - Design a complimentary dessert. The class is presented with a five-course meal, where everything's already planned except the dessert. The catch is that dinner has already started, your desert must only take an hour or less to make. Create a desert to compliment the rest of the meal that is possible in the time constraint and then explain why you chose this particular creation. A dice roll will determine whether or not it was a success. If the flavor profile is complimentary (if the first course was a salad with a raspberry vinaigrette and the student sticks to using raspberries or similar fruit in their dessert and address that in their explanation, as an example) they'll have a higher chance of success.
I HAVE SO MANY OTHER IDEAS THOUGH OMG
- The allergy challenge. Each student is given a hypothetical guest to make a dessert for, and that guest has a random allergy to a food. They have to design a food that doesn't use said ingredient for them. - The cake disaster. In this situation they're told they already were making a cake, but when stacking the layers it crumbled. Now they don't have time to make a new cake and have to use the cake pieces to come up with a new dessert. (This is actually a lot of fun to do in real life. Cake pops are a popular go-to for this.) - For a younger class, they could share their favorite dessert and why it's their favorite. - Culture appreciation. The class is given the history and background for a dessert made in a specific culture, and why. Then they're tasked to recreate it with a twist of their own that pays homage to that culture. (That twist can be presentation, not necessarily messing with the recipe itself.) - The calorie counter. Students are given a very small calorie total to work with and have to come up with a dessert that both tastes good and is that calorie count or less.
And so many others aaaaaaaaaah <3
Entry #6
Nightmare: 7 Teacher Name: Ishy Banir (Ms. Banir or Ms. B) Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Academy - Photography
Personality:
Positive
Appreciative - Ishy has worked hard to get where she is. Her childhood wasn't horrible but it wasn't one filled with vast amounts of belongings either. Her mother and father, not having gone to a university, lived pay check to pay check and even struggled to put food on the table at times. So everything that Ishy ever got as a child was appreciated. This has carried over to adulthood . Charismatic - Ishy has a sort of charm to her that invites others in. She's friendly, open and inviting and always compassionate. She almost always has a smile on her face --- putting off a warm vibe. Cheerful - As mentioned, Ishy almost always has a smile on her face. There's not much that gets her down and even when she is, she still tries to put a smile on her face for her students. Creative - Ishy has always been creative and from a very early age she showed interest in wanting to take pictures. So when her parents saved up the money to buy her a camera one year, she was very estactic and used it every day.
Neutral
Maternal - Ishy has always been a caring nightmare and the motherly type of any of her friend groups. If someone had a problem, they took it to Ishy. She carries this over to any of her jobs that she's had. Frugal - Ishy is very cautious with any money she makes. Since she grew up with her parents living from pay check to pay check, she learned early on not to spend any money she got on silly, unneeded things. She'll let herself indulge every once in a while but is sure not to go too crazy. Outspoken - Ishy has no qualms with telling it how it is and voicing her opinion. She is also not shy when it comes to every day conversation and can carry on talking almost endlessly if you get her started on a subject she's passionate about.
Negative
Clumsy - Ishy is a very clumsy nightmare. So far she's managed not to hurt herself too badly but walls, steps, chairs, etc always tend to get in her way when she's walking. She's also been known to come back from a photograph hike with various bruises and scrapes on her. Messy - Outside of the classroom, Ishy is messy. She'll leave dishes sit in the sink for a few days, lets laundry pile up until she absolutely has to and her work area is so messy and unorganized it's a surprise she gets any work done. It seems the unorganized chaos doesn't phase Ishy at all. Self-indulgent - Though Ishy is frugal with her money, when she does let herself indulge, she goes all out (which is why she keeps it to a minimum). Besides food she also likes sex and isn't ashamed to admit it. She doesn't think you need to be settled down and in love to enjoy oneself. She doesn't, however, annouce it to city or school or public and is very discreet in her relationships.
Example Activities:
Getting to Know your Camera - Juniors Knowing how your camera works is one of the most important things for a photographer. Take your school loaned camera back to your dorm or home and experiement. Look through the settings and try different settings as you take pictures. The next day, bring your pictures back to the class and explain to Ishy what you did in them.
Editing - Seniors Editing is a very important part of digital photography. Take a past photo, that needs some touching up, and edit it (remove blemishes, smooth wrinkles, remove an object from a photo, change the colors, brightness, etc). Save this photo to a usb drive and bring it back to class the next day.
Personality: Tamandani is a very soft-spoken Nightmare. She can make herself heard if she must, but she prefers not to raise her voice. She feels that if someone wanted to hear what she has to say, they will pay attention and she shouldn't have to raise her voice to do that. She makes friends fairly easily, but she doesn't mind being on her own, either. A lot of the time she can be found musing on her own, staring off into nothing.
In class, she's easy-going with a strict streak. She doesn't tolerate talking while she's teaching and has no problem stopping her lecture to wait for the talking students to be done. While she can be very opinionated, she tries to keep a handle on that when she's teaching.
Example Activities:
Tasseography
"Hello, class," Tamandani said in her usual soft lilt. "I hope you've all had a wonderful day so far. If you haven't, today's lesson ought to be relaxing for you." As she spoke, she set out a tall container of hot water kept warm by crystals and several different kinds of teas, each with its own label explaining the flavor and general uses. Each seat in the classroom was already equipped with small cups and saucers and a sheet of paper listing symbols one might see in their leaves. "We'll be going over tasseography, or divining with tea leaves." She gestured for the students to come choose their teas while she spoke. "Now tasseography is not just about drinking tea, though that can be a very enjoyable part of it. While your tea steeps, you should be working on clearing your mind."
As the class settled back down in their seats, Tamandani took the chance to choose her own tea and sat back in her chair. "When your tea is cool enough to sip, use your non-dominant hand to pick it up. Try to think of nothing in particular. If you are successful you'll get a general reading. If something keeps popping up in your mind, focus on that in particular to get a more specific reading." She sipped at her tea as she spoke, sighing quietly and emptying her mind. "Leave a small bit of tea in the bottom. Swirl it around your cup three times and turn it over, dumping it in your saucer and leaving your cup upside down for three breaths. Pick your cup up, and then you are ready to begin reading your leaves."

Include a short 'written' response that your Nightmare will turn in to Tamandani before they leave showing what they thought of tasseography in general. They don't have to reveal what the leaves held for them. 4. Quote _____ with your response.
Written Assignment
Tamandani had been having trouble focusing all day. She just couldn't seem to make herself concentrate on anything for longer than a few minutes. So that meant today was a written assignment day. "Take out your textbooks and a sheet of paper. Choose one or two types of divination and describe them and what you think of them." She offered the class a smile. "Once you've turned in your assignment, you may go."
Instructions~ 1. Using this website (or any other, I just linked this one for convenience!) choose one or two types and describe them and what your Nightmare thinks of them. Repeats are okay! 2. Post your response here and quote ______.
Entry #8
Teacher Name: Aqua’glow - Teacher #6 Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Swimming [Experienced] & [Inexperienced] - Academy
Personality:
Main Traits: Quiet, Observant, Strict, Caring
Aqua’glow isn’t exactly the loudest nightmare around unless she is giving instructions out to her class. Most of the time she will just mention to her students what they will be doing for the day and then watch to make sure they remain safe, answering any questions that may come up or going to help a student she notices needs help. Outside of class she hardly will ever raise her voice or even talk to others. Along with being the quiet type, it isn’t hard for her to catch on to when other nightmares are struggling in her class though, being rather observant of such behaviors since she spends most of her time watching others. This also applies to when she is just out and about, noticing small details that others may not even realize is there. With freshlings and inexperienced junior/senior swimmers though she tends to be more hands on, not wanting them to get hurt because they are learning the ins and outs of water.
Aqua’glow comes across as a very stern and strict individual, especially when it comes to safety around water. She knows that water can be dangerous, and makes to make sure her students know that and remain safe while swimming. This is usually how she shows her caring side for her students, only wanting the best for them and that they remain safe. It may not come across as that a lot of the time, but she really does care about their wellbeing.
Example Activities:
Junior [Inexperienced] - Looking across the Juniors who had come into her class, she noticed how all of them had no flotation devices on. Even if they were older than the freshlings, it didn’t give them any right to not be safe while swimming for most likely their first time “, All of you, before we even get into the water I will be giving you instructions on how to put on your flotation devices properly. You will not be getting into the water if you do not have them on, and therefore not get participation points for the day. Here we will be using life jackets as our flotation device of choice.”
--------------------
1. Use the code below for your post in this thread. 2. Use this image as a guide. Write a roleplay response about your nightmare getting their life jacket and putting it on properly. You have to use at least one of the steps from the image given in your reply, but you can use all four if you want. 3. If you did your life jacket wrong, Aqua’glow will come over and tell you what you did wrong. This is your second chance to reply before the deadline with another rp post on you doing it correctly (Or within 48 hours of USERNAME [me] writing a reply to your nightmare if USERNAME replies on the last day).
Username: Your username here Nightmare: Name of the nightmare participating here Rp Response: Nightmare participate's rp response

Senior [Experienced] - Standing before her class of seniors, Aqua'glow tried to think of what they could do for the day. She kind of just wanted to give them an easy day, but also didn't feel like they should just be given a full class period of free time. Perhaps she could give them a taste of both? “Today you will be seeing how fast you can swim your four laps in the pool. A really good swimmer can do it in under a minute, but the goal is four minutes and a half at most since you are all mostly not that experienced. You will be going back and forth only two times total, got it? After your laps you can have some time to enjoy the rest of class as a free day in the pool.”
--------------------
1. Use the codes below for your two posts in this thread. 2. Make an roleplay post, with the code labeled Post 1, about your nightmare before they are doing their four laps in the pool. Roll 4 die 10s with this post, as this will determine your nightmare’s time. 3. Make a second roleplay post, with the code labeled Post 2, according to what you got with a link to your roll. Use steps A and B accordingly.
A. If you roll anything below a 45, your nightmare has made it in the goal amount of time. Make a second rp post, using the code labeled Post 2, that is about how your nightmare feels about this accomplishment. You may also write about what they are doing during their free time in the pool.
B. If you roll 45 and above, your nightmare has not made it in the goal amount of time. Make a second rp post, using the code labeled Post 2, that is about how your nightmare feels about not meeting the goal. You may also write about what they are doing during their free time in the pool.

dedicated Cooking is Noth's life. He can't help spending every minute he's awake thinking of new sauces he might try or leavening he might use to create the perfect dinner roll. Though most of his attention is admittedly reserved for the culinary arts, Noth has been known to show just as much dedication toward friends and other causes he believes in. This one shining positive quality is pretty much what keeps him from being shunned by everyone he has ever come in contact with in his entire life.
eager From culinary techniques to a favorite song, Noth is eager to share the things he loves with anyone who will listen, at least until you fail to show the enthusiasm in return that he expects.
truthful Noth will tell you what he thinks of you, good or bad.
narcissistic Noth is beautiful and talented and he knows it. And if you don't agree? Prepare to be ignored. If you can't see those simple truths, you honestly don't deserve to have your opinions counted, now do you?
explosive Here's a little secret: Noth isn't really ignoring the Nightmares who don't think he is the best. He's watching their every move, storing up all of the minutes they are refuting his claims or failing to listen to him until his anger cannot be contained. At least Noth's fitful explosions are amusing to watch, as long as you aren't the source of them.
Example Activities:
Quote:
Assemble the perfect lunch.
Late to his own class, Noth rolls in a handful of minutes after the posted start time, pushing a cart with a number of covered trays on it to the front of the room. When he gets there he unveils the food he has prepared, filling the room with the most delicious smells.
"It's one thing to be able to produce culinary masterpieces," he says, gesturing at the trays he has brought. "And a whole other thing to be able to group them well, so that the palate is not assaulted in the pursuit of pleasure. Today you will assemble a plate that is both aesthetically robust and sensationally delicious. Choose your leading flavor first, then two accompaniments. What are you waiting for? Come!"
Rules: Roll 1d20 to choose your main food. Add two additional sides that complement your main dish by rolling 1d20 per post until you have rolled two numbers that are within five of your first. (The range wraps - see example.) You don't have to roll the numbers right after one another. If you roll a number outside of your range, Noth shakes his head and tells you to try again. Be sure to write a brief bit of RP with each roll! You may make up all of the foods Noth has brought as you go. Examples:
Quote:
You roll a 12. You must then eventually roll two more numbers that are between 7 and 17.
Quote:
You roll a 3. You must roll two more numbers between 18 and 8, meaning 18, 19, 20, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8.
Quote:
Successfully cook vegetables.
"Vegetables." Noth stands at the head of the clas, slotted spoon in hand and a smile on his face. "They can be tricky even for an expert. Like so many other things, the best way to get better at handling them is through extensive practice. That is why we are here today."
Rules: Roll 3d4. Start with 0 and add or subtract where indicated. The first die is your vegetable: broccoli kale spinach beets The second is your cooking technique: You overload your pan with water. Bleh. subtract 1 You add a little salt and decide to sear your vegetables. add 1 Your vegetables are spiced adequately, they're just not all that special. add 0 Somehow you come up with a mixture of spices that has even Noth turning his head. Good job! add 2 The third is how long you cooked your vegetables. Note: burning them does not automatically fail you! The vegetables are a little too al dente, but still edible! add 0 Your vegetables are perfect! You're a natural! add 1 Your vegetables are perfect! You're a natural! add 1 You've burned your veggies! Oh, well. subtract 1 RP your cooking attempt! If your total is a negative number, you have failed and must try again.
Quote:
Growing your own spices. (Thrown in as an extra concept because I see this as more of a freshling and junior activity, but who knows.)
The object of this class is to grow and work with spices over time.
In their first class, players would be given three seeds from Noth to plant via RNG. In their second, they would choose fertilizing or watering techniques that would alter their future spices. In the third, their spices would be fully grown. The characters who owned a particular spice would be able to use them in activities such as the class above to boost their dice and end with a better score and more IC understanding of how spices influence meals.[/quote

Teacher Name: Ranya - #1 Graduated From: Asterion Class Name: “Substitute” – See example activities for explanation; Academy
Personality: Stern, biased on ‘meras, taciturn, polite, glassblowing hobby, reserved, dependable, not easily riled, patient
Ranya was raised in a strict household and it’s no wonder she in turn comes across as serious and unrelenting. She doesn’t say much and when she does speak it’s often to the point. However, she was raised to mind her manners and always says ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and treat others well. It’s difficult to get her riled up and she rarely gets upset or ruffled over trivial matters. She works well with young children or preteens, but can manage well enough with seniors. Immersed in chimera culture right up until she entered university, the resulting bias to her own kind was inevitable. That being said, she tries to keep things fair for the rest of the races as much as possible. Once she’s given her word to do something for someone, it’ll get done to the best of her abilities. Most of the time, she doesn’t like to talk about herself, and when she does it tends to be less than what the other party had been wanting.
The Rani of her clan sent her to Asterion to get a degree. Once she’d graduated, she applied to a variety of schools in the area, with the blessing of her clan. (She’s not going to get the position she applied for at the Academy, but she will get one.)
Example Activities: This will be a 'blank' class where the teacher is a 'substitute' for other elective classes. That way there is an actual teacher present and managing the class but it isn't a set class.
Those entering would have to do like 200-250 words minimum stating what their 'elective' was, why their nightmare chose it, and what they did in class.
As a sub thing, there would be other activities (in addition to the rp minimum) so that the class wouldn’t be boring/the same every time.
All age groups) They'd have to roll a 10 sided dice to figure out how well they did in class. Higher score = Better grade and rolls 3 and under would be deemed remedial lessons. (Junior and Senior) ‘Presentation’ – User has to find (or make) a picture related to their class and post it. The rp has their nightmare ‘showing’ it off, either as a picture or the thing itself. (All age groups) Partner up! – User has their nightmare partner up with a classmate for a group project. Their partner can be an NPC if nobody else has their nightmare enrolled in that particular class.

Teacher Name: Shir - Teacher #1 Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Orchestra - Academy
Personality:
Main Traits: Stern, Caring, Introvert, Earnest
Shir is for the most part stern, having a firm grip on what she believes the academy’s orchestra should be. Those who step out of line will be talked to of course on their actions, but inside of a rather strict sounding chimera being the one speaking to them, it is instead a teacher who cares deeply for her students well being. This does not show often outside of that situation though unless the students apply themselves, her then doing what she can to help them on their pathways to success. Even if it isn’t for something music related, Shir will do what she can for her students. When she isn’t doing work for the academy or helping her students, Shir can commonly be found at her place trying to have some time to herself. After all, an introvert needs time to recuperate after a long day.
Example Activities:
Junior - “Have any of you decided on what you are going to be playing as an instrument in this class? After all, if you don’t play you won’t pass! This isn’t some easy course, and that goes for sure to those who think percussion is an easy pass!”
Pick an instrument from the list on this site, except the vocals. Vocals do not count as an instrument in this class. Also, Percussion is just an instrument of its own, so if you choose percussion you need to write for the section as a whole not just for the drums. If there is an instrument you want to play that isn’t on the list, message ____ and ask if it is okay.
Now that you have your instrument picked out, have your nightmare write up a report on why they decided to chose that instrument. Must be at the very least one proper paragraph long. If you choose to do this class as your Senior elective as well, you may use this instrument you picked as your main instrument come Senior Stage.
----------------------------------
Senior - “This year I have decided to let you, the students, pick which songs we should play at our concert! Isn’t that exciting? Now I am giving you some time to think over what you want to play, and the next time we meet up for class you will turn in a report on what song we should do and why. Just make sure it isn’t a pep band song. That is for another day.”
Pick an orchestra song of your choice and give a link to a possible youtube video, audio, or sheet music if there is any for that song you can find. Then have your nightmare write up a paragraph on why they think this class should do your song and do a small rp of them turning it in.

Graduated From: Leviathan Class Name: {Leviathan] Biology
Personality: To sum Kore up in a few words Kore is Passionate, hardworking, intelligent and extremely king. Kore is very dedicated about her work and she tries to portray that when speaking about the sciences. She is also quite fair, liking to have all the info about something before diving in to make a decision. She is a bit shy and can get nervous standing up in front of the students. However she wants to help her students achieve their dreams and be supportive. After all it’s the future sitting there in her class. She is also professional to the extreme and if she doesn’t know you then it’s extremely hard to get past her shell. However Kore is also a bit of a goofball on her off time, having a love of video games, writing silly stories or playing with her familiars. When not in teacher mode she will also become a bit of a hermit and it’s rare to see her leave her house except for on errands. She also has very strong morals and even though she is rather kind by nature if you do something to piss her off or if she feels like you are playing her she is not afraid of showing her backbone. Example Activities: [If for the Academy, specify the age group!] an example for Biology would probably start out between quizzes and rng options. An example of one of the quizzes would be: Find an animal Give its scientific name What family is it in? What are three characteristics about it (this can be where it lives or physical features about it)? Why did you pick this animal?
Entry #13
Teacher Name: Naga – 1 Graduated From: Asterion Class Name: Cultural Studies for the Academy as an elective
Personality: Naga is a brilliant nightmare who enjoys the finer things. Yet, she can be a little judgmental sometimes and very impatient. She likes being on time and expects others to do the same. But, she can be compassionate and more so to younger nightmares, letting only a few break the time rule.
She can be quite arrogant from time to time and finds it hard to believe that she's wrong, specifically with subjects she's majored in. Until given proof, she will deny it and even then she'll be skeptical. She is very proud in her knowledge and she will flaunt it anyway she can.
Her motto is to depend on herself and no one else. Her opinion on other races is positive, granted she's a chimera. And because of this, she decided to learn about anthropology so she can teach younger students their cultures and other race's cultures. She believes nightmares need to get in touch with cultures.
Example Activities:
For Juniors: Naga tapped her claws on her desk, waiting for all her students to enter the classroom. It was her first time teaching so she was a bit uneasy. She had to make a good impression on these nightmares.
Once they were all settled she walked in front of the class, eyeing her new students.
"Alright, since it's our first class I'd like to know more about your race." she said with a side smile. "Give me major three things about your race. " She thought this would be a good first exercise to see how much these nightmares knew about themselves.
Objective: 1. List three things about your nightmare's race. 2. Post it in the forum with a rp response and quote ____
For Seniors: Naga watched as the seniors rushed into the classroom. She should be a bit harder on seniors then the juniors, that's for sure. They should know a lot more about other races hopefully.
"Hello class. For your first assignment, we're going to be answering a little quiz. It's not too hard. It's just to see what your knowledge is on all other race's culture and not just your own. Its important to learn about each other if we're going to live in this world together." she said while handing out the test papers.
Objective: 1. Answer the questions below 2. Send them to ____ with the title named "Cultural Studies- Nightmare name here" 3. Rp your nightmare doing the assignment and quote me. 4. Do NOT post your answers here. If you do, I'd have to fail you.
----- Questions: 1. Who doesn't worship the nine? 2. Which race is known to use fire magic? 3. What race doesn't have rustic deities, saints or ancestor spirits? 4. Which races do Demons primarily trade with? 5. Which race(s) have large families?

Teacher Name: Amihan (Teacher #1) Graduated From: Leviathan - Majored in Physics Class Name: Flight Class for the Academy
Personality: When on the ground, Ami is a little air-headed and flighty, prone to spacing out as if lost in thought. But when she's in the air, she's focused and strict and very aware of her situation. Safety after all is important when flying is involved and she doesn't want anyone getting hurt.
Example Activities: Freshling: Strength Check
Amihan waited until the freshlings quieted down before greeting them, "Welcome to Flying 101. I'm..." she trailed off, then giggled, "I'm Ms. Amihan. How many of you can already fly~?" She smiled at the number of hands that were raised, clapping while her tail pointed to a pail filled with trinkets. "I want you to fly as high as you can while carrying that. I'll be flying within arm's reach of you so don't worry about falling." A beat. Her own wings unfurled and the dreamy look on her face sharpened, "Try not to drop the pail or spill it, okay? You'll have to clean it up if you do."
Rules 1. Roll 4d6, divide the total by 4 and round up. That's how many feet your freshling flew. 2. Write a short RP response of your freshling's performance. 3. Use this form:
Username: Nightmare:
Response:
---------
Junior: 360 Dodgeball
Amihan looked a little worried for class that day and it might have something to do with the ball she was holding. "Anyone recognize this dodgeball in my ha-" she paused and pressed a hand to her palm, realizing she just ruined her opening line. With a sigh, her wings began to flap and hovering in midair, Ami sounded more like a drill sargeant, "We're playing dodgeball today. But not just any dodgeball. We're playing 360 dodgeball. It's like regular dodgeball only everyone's flying and the ball can come from any direction, front, back, up, down, you get the picture. Split into teams and GO!"
Rules 1. Roll 1d20, that's how many times your student was able to dodge before finally getting hit. 2. Write a short RP response of your Nightmare's performance. 3. Use this form:
Username: Nightmare:
Response:
---------
Senior: Aerial Dance Off
Class was held outdoors and the seniors found Amihan surrounded by crashmats. "Ah, good, you're all here~" she waved, her fingers wiggling as the students approached. "Partner up and pick a crashmat~ Oh but your partner doesn't count, okay? Anyway, it may come as a shock to you that I have two left feet when it comes to dancing." The chimera began hovering in the air, "But that's when I'm on the ground," she grinned. "In the air, things are different. You might be able to impress someone you've been eyeing with your aerial boogie. And if said someone isn't able to fly, this is a good excuse for them to hold on tight. Now, let the dance off begin!"
Rules 1. Roll 2d12, even/even or odd/odd is a spectacular result, odd/even or even/odd... not so much. 2. Write a short RP response of your Nightmare's performance. 3. Use this form:
Username: Nightmare: Partner: NPC or Available (Available means the next player to post with a Senior can opt to quote you as if your students got partnered up. The person doing the quoting should not roll. This is all optional and just an opportunity for RP connections.)
Response:
If you quoted someone, please use this form:

Teacher Name: Adelaide Dasha (number 9) Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Architecture for Grendel
Personality: Adelaide has trouble staying on track. She is hyper active and bubbly with a habit for daydreaming and rambling. She's passionate about everything and has a love for life. She knows she will probably never be one of those calm and collected professional nightmares and she came to terms with it long ago. Her selling point is her likeability and passion.
Example Activities:
Activity one :
"Hello everyone! Welcome to Architecture! I'm Adelaide, but you are all free to call me Addi! Or really any variation of my name~ I also go by Sunshine or Sunny! It's an old nickname from my freshling years that just stuck. I'm super excited to be your teacher! As you can probably tell~" The demoness giggled. "This is my first year of teaching, so I am all for suggestions and criticisms to improve." She smiled happily and clapped her hands together, tail swinging about excitedly behind her. "Today we will be drawing blueprints~ It may seem boring but blueprints are a very important part of architecture. Ya gotta have a plan, ya know? Choose a room you know well and be as precise as possible!"
Out of character notes and rules :
-Quote me, ____
-Roll a 100 sided dice.
- 1-10 F - Did you even try? (You may roll again. You have two more rolls maximum.) 11-25 D - Umm... Let's try again, shall we? (You may roll again. You have two more rolls maximum.) 26-50 C - You passed! But are you sure you couldn't have done more? 51-75 B - Congrats! You passed! 76-90 A - A is for astounding! You passed! 90-100 A+ - You passed with flying colors! Your first masterpiece!
Activity two :
"Welcome back guys! As always, I am open to suggestions and constructive," Adelaide giggled and bounced in place, continuing moments later, "criticism on how to improve and make this class just as fun for you as architecture is for me! Today, I want to show you all Grendel University from an architect's eyes! It's a mini field trip! I'm gonna show you around our beloved university and do what I do best... Talk! While we walk about listen to what I say with half an ear. Think about what you would add to the building... Once we get back, it'll be presentation time! Tell us all what you would add! Explain why or how you would do it. You could even draw it, if you think better that way, and show us! Alright, let's head out~"
Out of character notes and rules:
- Write a rp response that addresses how class went. [Length does not matter as long as these main things are addressed : 1) how your nightmare felt about the trip and 2) your nightmare's presentation about what they would add.] Quote me, _____
Personality: Meade is one of those guys that tends to draw others in. He's charming and flirtatious, amiable and magnetic. He knows a lot of people, but doesn't have a lot of close friends. He likes to keep what he considers the important bits to himself, as he had a couple bad experiences during his time in school. While he tries to keep a handle on it, Meade can be fairly short-tempered. He can get frustrated, and when he does it tends to make his tongue sharper than normal. Apologies abound later when he's cooled down, but it doesn't always help.
As a teacher, he likes to challenge his students when he can. He also enjoys experiments that could possibly....explode. He does however, take precautions for such results and has several methods of extinguishing fires stashed around his classroom.
Example Activities: Meade smirked as his students filed in, waiting for them all to take their seats before cracking his knuckles. "Right! Today we're going to do an experiment." This was one of his favorite things about chemistry. "It should be a simple one to do, but chemicals can be volatile so everyone put on your safety goggles." He told them what page to turn to in their books and watched as everyone went about getting the right tools for the job.
Instructions! 1. Roll a 100-sided die. You can re-try the experiment up to 3 times if you fail.
1-25: Whoops! Too much of one of the chemicals! Your experiment begins to fizzle and foam, covering your entire desk. Start over. 25-50: Not enough of one of the chemicals. Your experiment sizzles and sparks.....and then does nothing. Start over. 51-75: Oh no! You left a chemical too close to the fire and accidentally knocked it over. Your desk flares up, but Meade is close by with a fire extinguisher. Clean up and try again. 76-100: Perfect! Your experiment starts to bubble and the liquid turns a bright purple. Pleasantly scented smoke begins to emit from the beaker. You pass!
2. Please RP each response as needed, you do not need to wait for Meade to tell your Nightmare to start over. Quote _____ with each response.
Meade sat sprawled in his chair at the front of the class. "We're going to be learning about elements, compounds and mixtures." It was easy for him to make the lecture sound interesting, he just hoped his students found that way. "Alright, so. Using what you've hopefully learned today," he said as he passed out worksheets, "Fill this out and hand it in on your way out."
Instructions! 1. Using this website, answer the following questions.
Quote:
1. Define element. 2. What are elements made of? 3. Can atoms be created or destroyed? 4. Name the two types of compounds. 5. What do ionic compounds contain? 6. What do covalent compounds exist as? 7. Which compound type has a high melting and boiling point? 8. Which compound type has a weak force of attraction? 9. What is a molecule? 10. Do mixtures have a constant composition?
2. PM the finished questions to _____. Do not post answers in this thread. Title your PM "Chemistry Questions - Nightmare Name" 3. Post a short RP saying your student came to class, and quote _____ when you do.
Entry #17
Teacher Name: Tryphaina (#7) Graduated From: Grendel Class Name: Literature - Grendel
Personality: Tryphaina, or Tryph as she prefers to be called, is a very easy-going kind of professor. She loves to teach and wants her students to love to learn, or at the very least not be bored to snores in her class! She's very approachable and doesn't mind giving her students extra help if they need it. She wants her students to do well, and doesn't mind giving up a little of her free time if it means helping a student to understand the work.
Outside of class, Tryph is very friendly and a little absentminded. She's been known to leave important things at home...like worksheets for the class, or her keys. She tries to make lists to combat this, but well. She forgets the lists. She can also be pretty easily distracted, but she tries to keep a handle on this at least while she's teaching. It's not quite so bad as Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny! It's more like she'll start talking about a subject and then something will turn her attention and she'll go off on a tangent. She enjoys reading and dabbles a little in writing her own short fiction and poetry.
Example Activities: Poetry Tryphaina was a little nervous for her first class, but beneath the nerves was an excitement she almost couldn't contain. "Good morning, class!" she said brightly. "Today, we're going to start off with something easy. The first section we'll cover is poetry, so I'd like you all to write poems about yourselves! You can choose any form of poetry you like, but if you choose a short form, like haiku, I ask that you write at least two." This was one of her favorite forms of literature and she was curious to see what forms her students chose to use. "I'll give you guys a little time to choose and to write, and then we'll all go around the room and read our poems out loud."
Instructions! 1. Choose a type of poetry. This site has a good list, and clicking the types will give examples. 2. Post your Nightmare's reaction to the assignment, as well as the assignment itself. 3. Quote _____ with your post.
Drama Tryphaina knew this section of the curriculum would have mixed results. Some students would enjoy the oral and dramatic aspects, but others would balk at having to get up and possibly act silly in front of their classmates. "Today we begin the drama section." She paused for any potential groans. "This assignment will be easy. I've got a word search for you. When you've finished, bring your work to my desk and you can spend the rest of the class browsing your textbook."
Instructions! 1. Complete this word search and PM the finished worksheet to _____, titled "Literature Drama Worksheet - Nightmare Name". 2. Post an RP response in thread showing your Nightmare working on the assignment and turning it in. 3. Please quote _____ when you respond.

SO! For Certing these guys make sure you list them as having graduated the university you submitted them as--
Also, you are free to make your class threads whenever you want! you do not have to wait for your teacher to be certed! (But please do cert them otherwise you can't actually RP them.)
Feel free to use the set up from any of the current classes if you need!
