Xenophon tried to think. He wasn't really that interested in history--but there had to be someone really famous that he thought was neat. And there was, as it turned out. His dad had played a ballad for him the other night on the stereo about really admirable person. True, they weren't a Chimera--but there weren't a lot of famous Chimeras in history. Or at least, there weren't a lot of Chimeras well-known to people outside of their territories, which unfortunately included this young one. Thankfully, several other people had mentioned members of the group he was thinking of...
"My favorite historical figure is Saint Fanyuel," he said. "She wasn't a Nightmare--she was a Daydream--but she helped Below. She gave information about an attack on Cassiel's Watch and prevented the city from being destroyed. She was killed by her bosses. That's why she's called Saint Fanyuel the Martyr." He sat down, pleased with himself.

Ugh, a famous figure from history? He knew that their teacher said there could be repeats, but there seriously weren't that many people from history that he thought was interesting. He felt like he should mention a Litch, but he didn't know very many, if any at all. Demons weren't very interesting, really--their most famous figures in history were a jerk and a kidnapped princess. No, thank you! "My favorite historical figure is Argus the Stoneskilled. I know he was already done, but he's my favorite, because without him, none of us would be here. I wouldn't be alive, and neither would most of the kids here. He sorta made everything happen. So yeah." He made a face. He'd made the exact same argument as Charmstar, only worse! He slumped in his seat and yanked on his own ears in frustration.

Mytrax was sensing a pattern to the answers of her classmates. The imp gave an explanation of the Imps' courtship, the fallen gave an explanation for the fallen, the litch had done for his own race, and so on. When it was the chimera's turn, Mytrax gave her classmates and teacher a professional smile. "Most chimeras are already engaged by the time they become juniors, often through arranged marriages." Whether Mytrax herself was engaged was not something the chimera thought worth mentioning. Instead, she continued, "In situations where the chimera in question is still single and they've taken interest in another, there is a possibility that their behavior will be thought of as showing off or being a braggart." Here, the quirk of her mouth turns into a smirk, the tone of her voice shifts from matter of fact to excited, "Chimeras have a pressing need to prove themselves worthy to their potential partner. Be it through material possessions or on the merit of their abilities, sometimes, maybe even often, it's a combination of both. If you're on the receiving end of a chimera's grandiose display it's very likely they want to be more than friends." When she finished, she sat back down to wait for another classmate to share their knowledge.

Oh, this was just the sort of subject that Samira adored! Favorite historical figures, and she had to pick just one?! This would be hard. The girl only half listened to her fellow classmates listing off their own favorite historical figure and the reasons why the chose them. She had deciding to do. It took some whittling down, but she finally came to settle on a singular person. Sami wasn't entirely sure if she was supposed to stand and speak or just speak loudly enough to share, so she scooted to the edge of her chair and straightened herself up to speak clearly when it came around to her turn. "I chose Saint Cassiel. He's one of my favorite historical people because he set himself to trying to record where the Fallen came from, where from we, they originated." Okay, so she was a hybrid, but she still counted herself among their number. "We don't really know, but he took it upon himself to write out the founding of the Winged Isle and tried to dig deeper into our origins to try to learn of the truth. It must have been interesting and rewarding work. I really admire that." She paused to mull over anything she might have forgotten to add, but thought her answer was pretty good as is. So, with a little smile and a nod, she scooted back into her seat more fully, looking rather pleased about her answer.

Historic figures didn't often drift through his thoughts as history wasn't exactly a favorite class of his. So, the task at hand was to tell of a favorite person from history. Did he even have one? Emmet narrowed his eyes as he pondered. There weren't any really stand outs, except maybe one his mom told about. One of her favorites would do, he supposed.
He realized it had come to his turn as he was thinking. He cleared his throat softly as he rose to his feet. "Sorry. My favorite historical figure is one my mom introduced me to, a favorite of hers too. This person is Rex Imara of Alycone. She brought all of the Baphomet together under one rule. She was generous and strong, bringing them together as she conquered. She must have been just and merciful to bring them all together under one banner. The kids of hers who followed in her place carried on her tradition for a long time too. It must take a special person to do something like that, and that's why I picked her."

Ick, government. It wasn't really a topic that engaged Callessa that much. But it was the assignment in this class, and so she'd just have to go along with it. She didn't know what subject her classmates were going to pick--most people in these situations picked the government of the race they belonged to. Cal...didn't want to follow the norm...but on the other hand, she might as well discuss it. She didn't feel like it had anything to do with her, but heck, if she was a Fallen, she might as well admit it. Besides, her mother wanted her to learn about her heritage...
There was enough information in the textbook about the Fallen government. She coupled that with information her mother had told her growing up. When it was her turn to present, she took a deep breath and spoke in a loud, clear voice. "The Fallen government is a gerontocracy. That's a form of government where the young are ruled by their elders. Their--our--government consists of the Arch Regents, who serve as a council of elders. They rule both the Winged Isle and Cassiel's Watch. Fallen society values the teachings of our ancestors, so it is natural for us to be ruled by the elderly."
Personally, it was something that Cal detested, but it wasn't like she had much of a choice in the matter...

Eidil wrinkled her nose. Oh. Government. They talked about that a lot in her family. Not because there were a few members of the family in government, although there were, but because it was such a...well, a prominent thing in their lives. Her family was rich. Rich people talked about government a lot, usually in reference to what their taxes were going to support, and how high those taxes were. It was usually in this part of her conversation with her parents that she started to zone out and think about more interesting things.
She could practically recite Demon culture from heart, though she didn't need to--it was extensively covered in the textbook. She shrugged. Go with what you know... "I picked the Demon government--not only because I am a Demon, but because it's the government that I've had the most experience with. I grew up with Demons, I live in a Demon territory. Demons were once ruled by a powerful royal family, one that made history across the world. They were allied with nobles called "lieges" across the territories. But these days, having a big, crazy, messed-up royal family isn't really good for business or structure. So the royal family has given power over to the Great Council, and lieges are now elected officials called governors." She shrugged and sat back down in her seat.

Finn stood up when it was his turn and started to talk about his chosen historical figure. Or figures. "I chose the three Geist princes that sacked Alcyone, Prince Kora, Prince Laure, and Prince Ulli. I chose them because my papa is a Geist, and I wanted to learn more about that part of my heritage. They stole a lot of things from the Baphomets, but they didn't have Alcyone long before Baphomet soldiers ran them off! The three princes returned all the stuff they stole and told the Baphomets that they pretty much did it just to see if they could and get away with it. But they apologized to the Baphomets so that's really important! I think Geist history is really cool and I can't wait to learn more."

Was she even sure who here favorite historical figure was? She definitely didn’t want to do a demon, even if she was one the people she had to pick from weren’t exactly someone you wanted to admit to. A greedy prince who murdered all his siblings for a crown and some girl who got herself kidnapped and threw below into a war. Sooo, demons were out. I think my favorite historical figure is Graven Frostfyre, which is probably weird considering I’m a demon.” Pherein began. “However when my race drove all the imps north, he could have kept the land for his people and let the imps find their own spec of land, yet he didn’t. He gave up litch land so that the imps would have somewhere to live. I picked them because it was a nice thing to do, and maybe we need more of everyone just looking out for each other like that“ with that she sat back down and waited to see what other people were going to say.

Hmm favorite historical figure? He was glad that the teacher hadn’t made them pick a historical figure from their own race. He was still a little mad at Chimeras in general or at least adult chimeras. After all it was a chimera couple or triad that had decided he wasn’t good enough and had thrown Kadali and himself away. So what other historical figures did he like? “My favorite historical figure would probably have to be Saint Lionel” Baum finally decided on.” He was a double agent that helped us for decades during the war, eventually though he was found out and executed and the fallen made him into a saint. I picked him because he did what he believed in even if it was turning his back on his government. he knew it was a death sentence if he was found out and he kept doing it to help us. It must have taken a lot of courage to help people who weren’t his own. So that’s why he’s my favorite” Baum replied and then took a seat.

Oooh Government... Now this was something Lior was interested in. He wasn't good with science, or talented with math, and definitely couldn't do a most art - but social studies were his favorite things to do! He listened to Tethys' brief lesson, and then listened again to his scanner as it read the textbook through his headphones... Mmm yes, he knew what he wanted to do.
"Baphomet government is broken up into three factions, which are in Bramblewood, Moonspear and Alcyone. Those are ruled over Rexes, who still have some power but they also defer to the Great Council, too. Beneath them in individual areas, Elders are in charge on a more day-to-day basis." He nodded, pleased with his ability to remember it all - he didn't stammer or say "um" even once! He'd chosen Baphomet government since that was what his best friend Nimbus was.

Oh nooooo....Seoul had no interest in these kinds of things! But the more they thought about how boring this was...the clearer the answer became. "Graven Frostfyre, the Warden of the South." Seoul nodded before continuing. "Because he wasn't greedy and nasty. The imps could have been homeless, and he could have made them go out and find their own place to live. But, uh, instead of being mean and selfish-" Such a better word than 'greedy'. "He gave up part of litch lands for them, so they would have a home!" Seoul smiled, tilting their head to one side. "I think if more were like him, the world would be a better place. I picked him because I like when others aren't selfish."

Arya stared down at the floor for a bit trying to think on just which historical figure he would like to talk about. He wasn't very sure if he had any 'favorites' to pick from really but since he had to at least try to choose one he pondered on the question for a few minutes while others took their turns. Why was it that there were no notable Chimera figures in history? He frowned a bit but stopped when it was his turn to speak up. "Rex Imara of Alcyone was said to have united the Baphomet's under one ruler." He said, finally just picking someone from his memory. "I picked the Rex because working together is a good thing."

Favorite historical figure? She could do that! Nikora smiled as she thought of who she would pick to talk about. There were quite a few that she admired so the only trouble she would have was narrowing it down to just one to talk about. Thankfully she had it figured out by the time it was her turn. "I like Saint Cassiel! Cassiel was the one who gathered all the evidence they could find and put it together so they could write about the history of the Fallen!" She said. While she wasn't a Fallen herself, Charmstar was and she liked her pretty pink friend so she was glad he could know his history.
