Most of Scholomance's mentality boiled down to hurry the ******** up in the latter seconds of his cast. The pain burrowing into his bones slowed time to a crawl; even as Thraen explained his thoughts, Scholomance felt as though the blonde issued an unending lecture. All interest waned in the face of slow internal rot.
If Methone intended to follow Thraen's convention and cast, he hoped she did so in the coming seconds. Scholomance knew not how long his magic would last, though he felt that he hadn't much vitality left in him to withstand the grueling effects of the magic on himself. He began to wonder if, perhaps, simply being in this bizarre illusion as well as a part of reality enacted the toll. Was there some way to simply choose his preferred location? Could he join those who are evidently sequestered, rather than watching both worlds? Scholomance couldn't begin to guess how such a change might manifest.
The seconds passed that Scholomance could allow, and he released the magic with a heavy sigh. Its toll remained evident in hunched shoulders, his weary countenance, and his panting despite no outward physical activity. "********, that's hard," he cussed to himself.
From the sight of missed attacks, Scholomance gathered similar applications to the ones Thraen suggested - effectively, if he was careful and timed his magic appropriately, he could prevent someone's death, corruption, or perhaps even purification. He could prevent restorative magic from reaching its target. He could prevent devastating magical debuffs from landing. All assuming, of course, that he managed the proper timing. "I appreciate your insight, Thraen." Straightening, Scholomance groaned slightly. The world swam but once. "And for coming out here to try it. You're right about its potential uses, assuming I can position myself to cast at a proper time." Largely it sounds like a stroke of luck. At what point will I ever happen upon a battle just to watch someone's hand going toward someone else's chest? Useful yes, but only in exceedingly rare circumstances.
"I think the question about agent teleportation is one I can answer on my own. The quantum mechanics behind the magic might be better suited to physicists. I lack the formal training to be able to tell you anything about dimensionality or even if it qualifies as some type of dimensionality and not just...some kind of shift in matter. Like a physical state change of water to vapor, though applied on people.
"What did you find, Methone? Were you able to come up with anything?"

Methone summoned her attack, after touching the items and did it, luckily within a span of the time Scholomance was casting.
Unlucky that her magic didn't do a single thing, and while she had called its name, the magic actually never produced. So once he was done, the senshi headed over to the squire and laid a gentle hand on him, feeding him a bit of her energy to at least...ease some aches. She couldn't fully heal him, but it would be a nice warm sensation.
"Magic doesn't work, I called my attack, nothing happened." Methone looked up at Thraen. "I didn't get a chance but I thought I'd see if my transcendent magic work on him as well, at least pushing the energy at him." She wondered if negaverse could do that.
"Nothing that Thraen hasn't already explained." the girl offered, "While you casted, you were the only clear person I saw. Thraen became nothing more then a shadow. The world was crumbling but the space is still the same. If the wall is there...It's there. Even if it looks like its crumbling away." She rubbed her arm and then smiled.
"I have no clue about dimensions or alternate spaces." She waved her hand. "But I can tell you that I was worried that I couldn't summon my magic."

'one I can answer on my own,' Is it now? I wonder if that's just passing the guff of working further this session, due to fatigue. The toll is apparent enough. It could as much mean that this knight is the same as Hvergelmir, and others, and freely bandies with the enemy of any free living force. Time will have to tell. And if there's invitation to further sessions, or if he mentions any teams to explain who he will weigh out the other factors with. Troubles of information and having to learn new people. The wholesale hand-waving on both on the matter of 'expertise' on dimensional spaces or magic was just further prickles of annoyance. Wryness tasted acrid and cloying all over his mouth. Of course none of them were experts. 'Magic' as a real thing was wholesale passe doff as faerie tales, and quantum physics wasn't a common field of night reading, but it didn't prevent them learning. There's no other magic users stepping forward, alive for centuries, with potential good will and more helpfulness than Cassandra or the Mauvians. It's up to Senshi and Knights to have to learn or relearn the consistencies, paradoxes and histories as best we can, faced though we be with a Garden of Forking Paths or no. Civilians can't even see through the glamour to see a palace on the Moon- they can't help. "I admit, I've not seen a magic that taxes it's use physically, the way yours seems to, before. When I've used mine many times, I'll feel tired, but not wear the markers of pain. It'll be up to your own preference and discretion if you feel like practicing your magic more often to build up tolerance, and endurance. It might help for accuracy, speed of casting, or duration. I don't know if Knights' magic can be increased that way- I'll ask around though. " "Do you both travel, or patrol, together often? Getting information between Knights and Senshi is still spotty when not done in person. But our mutual findings about any other specifics to magic could be easily shared via the phones through Methone at least from my end. Your note came through without any hindrance, Scholomance. "

Scholomance huffed some of the pain out before he straightened. Methone confirmed a similar experience to Thraen's, indicating it was not necessarily a subjective experience, and that they gained nothing further by casting upon her. The squire questioned himself of his curiosity about other stipulations of his magic, set against his current condition. Mentally he concluded that further trials in the magics of Scholomance would wait for another day.
"Even if I can't increase length of cast or tolerance, reaction times and accuracy are still under my control. This magic isn't going to be very useful if I don't use it, and there's not much good in using it if I can't react quickly enough or target the right person or persons. We haven't solved all the questions about it yet, either. We should meet again to test it." It was curious, however, that Thraen explicitly stated his lack of pain in casting himself. If Thraen knew many magic-users and had yet to meet one that succumbed to pain during the process of the magic, then the conditions of his spell must be quite rare (or, he suspected, magic of their kind was ill-understood). Regardless, the spell warranted further study. He could not escape such a blatant conclusion.
Hands drew up to his shoulders to massage idly his trapezius muscles. "Unfortunately, I don't often patrol with Methone." His gaze cast outward, toward the streets where the slow crawl of cars formed veins along the city. "Most of the time I find I'm by myself when the time for patrol finally reaches me. I've noted, though, that I can send messages whether as Scholomance or as a civilian. Keeping in contact won't be hard for me. Perhaps we could arrange for a patrol sometime? Either you, Thraen, or, of course, Methone." Both proved highly aesthetic, and quite powerful by judge of signature. Safety was promised in their very presence, though Scholomance wondered whether that judgment was a lull of false security or a true bastion of safety.
"If I need to be reached, though, and you find you can't do so directly, then Methone has my cell number and can pass along a message. It's worth a shot to see if one of your phones can make contact with a ring." It hardly made sense in the realm of technology, but magic showed time and again that it knew no similar restrictions.
"And thank you for your help," he finished. My body says it wants to lay down. Damn, I hurt.Ivynian herp derp watch me take forever Pixie Nyxie trying to get through more old tags

"Again, then, at a later date. " Was he hearing right? Was it a power limited to Scholomance alone, or to all of the knighthood, to be able to send messages of a powered nature even while not in uniform? That was an equally powerful tool, one that should have boosted organization of order long ago pending what was the truth and length of it's existence. It was a missing link between the separated lives, and the dispersion of information both safely and accurately. He wanted to know more, everything about it that the other man could or would divulge. "If they can communicate, it would be worth much. And if so, finding out the foibles of it, " Thraen restrained what he could of the eagerness for information, like lashing hotbloods to something meant for draft. The man looked more and more spent, wilting in timelapse. "I'm generally available between midnight and five, any given day. I'll try to contact you on the morrow, to set up something next. If you don't hear from me, then contact from phone to ring didn't work. If I don't hear from you, I'll know it didn't work and message Methone as much. Let me know when you're free, in such a case, and wish to try more. " Thraen looked to Methone for confirmation from her and that this was all well and agreeable by her. "And I'll look forward to it. " Testing magic at least has an immediate benefit and increase in any of our serviceability. And it's ...fun. Fun to think of the variables and limitations there might be in order to try to predict as many tactical applications as one can. It is a nice change from hunting. Or at least more wholesome feeling.
