Oof, and then there was hugging. Kitchi really couldn't stay mad at Lita for long. She'd been scared and she'd overreacted, people did it all the time. It wasn't rational or smart, but it happened. Returning the hug Kitchi smiled. "I guess it's fine," she said, letting out a dramatic long suffering sigh and an overly large shrug. "Just come back with me, alright? I don't want to have to send a letter home about how you got eaten by a feline or something." That wouldn't be enjoyable. A movement of blue caught her gaze and Kitchi's eyes darted to the dragon and then back to Lita's face. Well, at least there was ocean on one side so the teen's fleeing options were restricted somewhat. Momentarily Kitchi felt a twinge of annoyance, she'd told them to stay put. Of course a dragonrider pair would just decide they knew best and force themselves in anyway. Oh dear, seemed Lita's anti-dragon stance was starting to infect her too. "Lita, I need you to keep looking at me, okay? There's nothing dangerous, nothing is going to hurt you." She just needed to keep Lita calm. Given their surroundings she rather crying in a heap to running screaming. Neither would be great, but if she had to pick one, that was what she wanted. Looking over Lita's shoulder she sized up the dragon. It was only a little one. Then again Lita had been hurt by a baby. Both times actually. "You need to stay there." She said flatly, doubting that the blue would listen to her anyway. As for answering him, well that question hadn't really been meant for her.

Lucath swayed slightly and blinked his faceted optics at the girls expectantly, "Please, why are you scared? Maybe I can help ease your pain." The dragon spoke once more. Usually they didn't speak to anyone's mind but their own riders; but this was a special circumstance. This girl had exhibited fear, and that hurt the young dragon who didn't know why it would happen.
"Please, I'd like to help you?" The dragonet finally offered a vocal chirp to his words. He didn't move however, hearing Kitcha demand it. He snorted softly, but heeded her words as his eyes swirled with curiosity and admittedly hurt. He wanted to ease Lita's troubles.
D'rec tripped. Onto his face the young man growled in irritation. Where was his dragonet? Had he run away from him? Mine! The rider called to his blue; but the creature simply would not listen. Lucath had a mind of his own, was strong willed; perhaps that's why they got along so well. The dragon rider rose to his feet and hurried towards the sound of women speaking. Perhaps that's where his dragonet was!

Lita managed a short giggle at Kitchi's dramatics. She really was the best friend; Kitchi never got too mad at her no matter what. The teen nodded and wrinkled her nose. "Do you think they'd really make you write the letter?" Not that Kitchi would let it happen to her, Lita was sure.
Her eyes were about as wide as they could go without her eyeballs popping out of her head. She nodded as Kitchi ordered her not to look anywhere but her friend. Oh she wanted to, and yet she really, really didn't want to turn around either. Something surely dreadful had to be behind her, but Kitchi said it wasn't dangerous. Who to trust? Her instinct or her friend? Kitchi wouldn't put her in danger. Barring y'know making her walk up a dragon blindfolded of course.
She trembled as that voice sounded again in her head. Her eyes squeezed shut. Kitchi hadn't said she'd heard anything. Was she finally loosing her mind? The last comment forced a response from her. "How could you?! How could you even understand?!" Lita cried out in reply, covering her eyes and sinking slowly into the sand.

"I'd rather not find out really." She said with a shrug. Who knew how they handled these things? It'd certainly be more personal coming from her, but to someone grieving there child that probably didn't make a great deal of difference. Kitchi slid down into the sand with Lita, resting her hands on her friend's shoulders. Maybe talking it out was a step in the right direction. They said talking through a trauma was supposed to help and Lita certainly viewed what happened as a trauma. Kitchi wasn't great with minds. People were confusing at the best of times for her. "It's okay, Lita. Your safe, just say whatever you want to." Would that help? She really didn't know, but Lita hadn't been the most open when it came to talking about the issue.

D'rec 20 Turns && Weyrling Dragon -- Blue Lucath Lucath sat poised, his haunches scrunched slightly as though he wanted to gallop forward to investigate this heinous, unsightly situation. The young blue's hide rippled with disdain. This girl was clearly in turmoil and as such it was his duty to keep her docile and calm. He didn't understand human emotions too well yet, there was always something about the humans that proved disastrous to their health. The multihued blue dragonet chirruped once more, his voice vocalizing broadly through the small area. With that, the creature spoke once more, "Please, you've nothing to fear with me. I won't harm you." The dragonet's bursting empathy could not be spared as his swirling eyes watched the girls from his hiding place.
"Lucath!" The young man roared as he suddenly burst from the path on the opposite side from the girls, his muscles twitched and he lifted his head high above his shoulders. "Sorry." He grumbled in Kitchi's direction, shrugging his shoulders slightly and raising his hands in defeat. D'rec said nothing more, looking around him until he spied passed Lita to where his dragonet was lurking. The below average built blue trumpeted his disapproval of his rider's interruption but quieted as his rider strode passed Lita with his eyes forward. Mine, not everyone understands the dragons. Not everyone wants them to come near them. He warned the little one, gently reaching through the branches of a brush to rest his warm hand atop the blue's ridges.
Lucath softly chuffed at his rider, his facetted optics glancing around the rider towards the young girl. D'rec, mine, I cannot abandon this. She is hurting. A wher has brutally scarred her and it is my sacred duty to mend what has been broken in her mind. The creature huffed and then stepped free of the brush, his fore limbs reaching towards his rider and friend. Will you not help me, mine? Blinking his eyes, he cocked his wedged head and then laid a "hand" upon the man's shoulder before walking forward on his hind legs. He had to get this out. "You've suffered greatly, but are not the joys of companionship at the hands of dragons and humans worth something? You were searched to the weyr for a reason, yes? Surely you're not terrified of me completely." The dragonet came forward and swung his head around to the side of Lita, brushing his warm ridges against the sixteen turn old's arm. "I won't hurt you."

Lita shook and felt her breath coming in harsh gasps. It helped that she had Kitchi's support. She wouldn't be able to handle this without that support and friendship. Her experiences weren't something she liked or wanted to talk about. Usually when the subject came up, she left the room and let others fill them in.
That voice in her head felt so sincere. Made her want to trust it. Which was the danger wasn't it? Lita 'listened' to that voice with a stillness. She forced herself not to pay attention to the rustle of branches. Did she want companionship? She had Kitchi, but Lita sensed that this voice was talking about something more. It.. no the voice she admitted was a he. He had a valid point. She had been Searched for the weyr with the goal to impress a dragon.
The teen sat still, although she still didn't open her eyes, as a soft skin brushed against her arm. Was she scared of this? Somewhat. The memory of pain and terror lurked there at the back of her mind constantly. Was she afraid of him? That took a little bit longer to answer. Lita searched hard in her mind and her heart. Of this one, no. tentatively with a shaking hand she stretched out her fingers until they lightly brushed against soft skin. Her fingers rested lightly on a neck ridge.

Okay, maybe this wouldn't be too bad. Lita wasn't bolting like a frightened herdbeast and that was definitely an improvement. No shouting either. Maybe if things just stayed calm and quiet then it'd work out. Let Lita get to know the blue, feel safe around him and then she could watch him grow into a full grown dragon and see that throughout it all the dragon was the same individual. Kitchi imagined that Lita would still have some apprehension about hatchings, but really they didn't come around that often. Plus, once Lita impressed she wouldn't have to attend a hatching ever again if she didn't want to. A shout had Kitchi's head whipping around to pin her eyes on D'rec. How was it that the dragon was so considerate and yet the rider managed to just plough in yelling? At his apology Kitchi merely rolled her eyes, looking back at Lita and shaking her head. This better work. If it didn't then she was thoroughly putting these two in the 'more trouble than they're worth' category. The blue approached and Kitchi curled her toes in her boots. It was a handy way for her to tense without going rigid. She needed to appear as comfortable with this as possible for Lita's benefit, yet she was mentally preparing herself to have to sprint in case the blue being close caused Lita to bolt again. Lucath brushed against Lita and nothing happened. Good start. Kitchi held very still as her friend reached out to touch the dragon. Look at that, she didn't even need a blindfold to help with it. "You're doing really well Lita," she said softly in an attempt to encourage.
