The General answered his smile with one of her own fangs peeking past her red lips. She felt the pull, sloppy as it was, but compared with Galena, who had once ripped the energy from a drunk at the bar till he passed out? It was a wonderful first try. Just getting the feel for it, the confidence of knowing it could be done, would make a difference going forward.
She was pleased to see the joy of success in him. It boded well for him accepting his new role in the Negaverse and her own success in recruiting him.
"Good work." She said, feeling the pull of exhaustion. "I think that is all for tonight... Recruitment takes a lot of energy and I'm sure you'd like a little time to get used to your new self. Energy orbs like that, when you get them, are to be turned over to a Captain, who will bring it to the Citadel to turn it in. Here."
Cin took the orb from his hand and tossed it into her mouth, reclaiming her stolen energy as she dug around in her pocket. After a moment, she came up with something and she reached out to press it into his hand. It was a small purple crystal, about the length of her palm.
"This crystal is magically enhanced and it comes from the Rift. We use it to communicate." She said as she produced her own, showing him their similarity. "If you ever need to reach me, speak into it and say my name, and my crystal will respond, sort of like a shortwave radio. We'll be able to speak back and forth through it. You can also expand to a more public channel, if you want to reach anyone nearby, you just have to focus on it. I will assign you a Captain to turn your collected energy over to a bit later. For now, you can call me directly and I'll come and get it."
"Now, one of the most important parts of this..." Cinnabar straightened up then, tucking her crystal away before she reached to grasp Cerussite's shoulder, the grip of her hand commanding. "You can not tell anyone about this. Your identity in the Negaverse must be kept secret. You can't tell your mother, father, sibling or lover anything, is that clear? It is for their safety, as much as its for yours. The white moon is trying to bring us down. Knowing you work for us now could put you and the people you care about at risk if its found out. Secrecy is key."
Finally, the half youma released him, stepping back as she tucked her hands into her pockets.
"Will you be okay getting home? You should power down before you leave here. When you're powered, you give off an auric signature that can be felt by other powered people. If you concentrate, you should be able to feel me... just like I can feel you. Our signatures will feel different from the white moon's people, which is a good warning, but a double edged sword. If you power up too often at home, someone might wonder why an aura keeps popping up there. We can set up a time to meet again for more training at a later date. There is still a lot for me to show you."

He watched her with wide eyes as she took the orb and ate it, his own heart thumping with exhilaration. Cerussite had not expected that that was what you did with them, but maybe it was just the fact that she was grafted with a youma that meant she had to eat the energy gathered.
Either way, it was gratifying to know that not only had he done it, but he had done something well, her praise ringing in his ears. How long had it been since someone other than Hitch had praised him? Not that he didn't appreciate every time that Hitch did - he appreciated it more than he could say - but something about this, about hearing it from someone more powerful and stronger than he was made him feel almost giddy inside.
Finally he was doing something right.
Cerussite held the crystal up and gave it a look, his eyes taking in the appearance. With a nod, he tucked it into his pocket and then lifted his gaze to meet hers, his stomach giving a little lurch as she grabbed his shoulder. It wasn't exactly fear that slipped through him, but something a little more daunting, and not from the general herself.
He couldn't tell Hitch. He couldn't tell Fritz. Somehow, this was not surprising, but Cerussite felt the weight of the words sinking into him, and he gave a fervent shake of his head, swallowing hard.
"I won't," he said quickly. "I won't say anything."
Taking a deep breath, Cerussite drew himself up a little, and said, "Yes, I'll be all right."
A beat passed, and then he said quietly, "Thank you. For - for helping me."

Cin smirked at his thanks and lifted her chin to acknowledge him.
"You're welcome, Lieutenant. It was not just you that benefits from this though... the whole Negaverse does, and if you do well, I do too. Your success reflects well on me for having recruited you, so make sure you don't let me down." She winked as she teased him, her tail curling lazily behind her. "I'll contact you later to set up a training time. If you need me, just use your crystal to call. Its unlikely I won't be available, particularly for you. Safe trip home, Lieutenant."
Then, between one breath and the next, she was simply gone. The space she had filled was empty, as though she had never been there at all for how little mark she had left. Even her power signature winked out, taking its darkness with it, and Cerussite was left to make his way alone.
