❅xxH u y a n a The End of something beautiful
While his days went past he managed to keep an eye on the pregnant woman and knew the day she had given birth. Huyana even knew the name of the infant before the woman's family did. Gossip was a powerful thing if one knew how to use it and who to trust.
Now, however, he was spending his time with a slightly older boy, who as it happens was already taken. Not that it stopped either of them. Dressed in his usual rich attire the young Icling lounged rather languidly on the lap of the male and watched a small performance by a traveling troupe. The older boy was running a hand through Huyana's hair while the other draped around his waist in a possessive nature. None of this bothered him as he continued to sit there and enjoy the entertainment. After all, what did he have to do? Nothing.
By the end of the performance he had taken to practically laying on his companion. The muscles on his body providing a rather comfortable bed for the young Zaltana. "Mm, did you find out what I wanted to know?" He voiced his question with a yawn. Huy was starting to feel fatigue catching up with him. The other boy nodded and leaned down to whisper into his ear. What he heard put a small smile on his face and he nodded his head in response. "Thank you, Ryin." In a moment of affection Huyana reached up and cupped the side of the boy's face before pulling him into a rather engaging kiss.
None of this was out of place for him. Huyana was affectionate with just about everyone that proved to be worth it to him. He believed love was a general thing to be given out freely. At least, for now. As the kiss started to get a bit more serious it was interrupted by the clearing of a very feminine throat. This noise caused both males to pause and pull away from each other to find out who it was that wanted their attention. What they saw was the older boy's fiance with her hands on her hips and a pissed off expression. Huy only gave a sly smirk before he gave a sideward glance to the male he sat on. It seemed that he had been caught in the middle of cheating, or about to be cheating.
To save the male the stumbling over words Huyana spoke up as he slowly, and rather sensually, removed himself from the boy's lap. "Can we help you? Did you wish to join in?" Of course he knew that this woman wasn't like that, and in fact she was a firm believer in monogamy, but he couldn't help himself. Meddling was just what he did and this was no exception. The look on the woman's face was answer enough for him and he lifted his shoulders gently as if to say it was her loss. "Perhaps you have something to say?" He inquired.
The boy who's lap he had just been on jumped to his feet and tried to console the angry female. A task that Huyana left him to do alone. Soon enough the two were screaming at one another. One accusing the other as the second tried desperately to defend his actions. When Huy heard his name mentioned and saw the woman look at him he gave his sweetest smile and wiggled his fingers at her in a charming gesture. It didn't work on her but he enjoyed the effort. In a last ditch attempt to keep the woman from leaving him the older boy went down on his knees and begged. The sight was rather interesting but anger clouded the woman's eyes and she refused to listen. Once she stormed off Huyana moved in to console the broken male. "There there, Ryin."
Leaning down he wrapped his arms around him and gently placed kisses to the male's neck. His affection was contagious and soon the boy relaxed against Huy. "I am sorry that she left you, that was not my intent." And truly it hadn't been. Though in the long run he was semi glad that the woman was out of his friend's life. She was such a bore and often times more mad than she need be. It was stifling. And not at all healthy for anyone involved.
"Shall we watch more of the dancing or do you wish to go elsewhere?" It was a true question. At the moment he wanted to help his friend forget about the pain of being left. If dancing would help then they would watch more of it, no matter how boring Huyana found it to be. Or they could go to another location and do something else. Perhaps some shopping would cheer the male up. When he got his answer it was that his friend wanted to enjoy more of the performance. So with a nod Huy pulled his companion over to the place they had been sitting before and settled in. "There we are. Now, lets watch the beautiful bodies as they move." True to his flirtatious nature he let his hands find their way into the male's shirt and stroke his flesh.
The gentle touch would add some comfort but also provide a distraction. Within minutes Ryin had relaxed some and was paying more and more attention to the dancers. Huyana, on the other hand, was thinking about what he had been told from earlier. The news that he had been waiting for. It pleased him but at the same time made him feel anxious. There was a small part of him that wanted to leap up onto his feet and run to check it out for himself. However, he knew he needed to play it cool.
For the time being he would need to keep his distance. At least until things settled from the rumors. His mind wandered on as the subject claimed his attention but his hands continued their task of stroking Ryin's skin. It was what gave the boy the comfort he needed to relax.

❅xxH u y a n a The path to being a Merchant
Upon returning home for the day he was met with a smothering hug from his mother. "Ack, Mom, can't breathe." He gently tapped at her arms as they held a crushing grip on his ribs. Huyana should be used to this type of greeting from his parent but it never ceased to amaze him that such a small woman had that much strength in her.
"Where have you been, Huyana Zaltana!?" His mother's hands went from around him to on her hips in less than a second.
Huy rolled his eyes at her actions but answered her anyways. "I was with a friend. We got a little wet and had to wait for our clothes to dry." Of course his mother would take that at face value while his brothers in the background started to snicker. Leaning to the side so that he could see around his female parent he glared. "Oh be quiet. Nothing happened."
"Uh huh, suuuure it didn't." His eldest brother winked at him but was nudging his other brother and the two soon fell into laughter yet again.
"I believe him." His adorable little sister said as she came from the back room. Her eyes were so trusting as she looked at Huyana. It was one of the things that kept him honest.
"Thank you." Now that that was out of the way he turned and started toward the kitchen. Huyana had turned down food when he was with Eirlys but now his stomach was protesting to the idea. He wanted food and he wanted it now. Just as he reached for the bread he heard his father come in and turned to look at him. In the man's hand was a nice rabbit that he'd apparently hunted. "Oh, hey Dad." His greeting was mixed in with everyone's as the whole family acknowledged their patriarch.
The man grunted his reply and made his way into the kitchen with his kill before tossing it onto the table. There was a vague mention that Huy's mother should skin and clean the animal so that they could have meat for dinner, but all Huyana really paid attention to was how his mother slapped his father's arm with a tsk. A grin formed on his lips as he took a bite of the bread. Since he wanted something else to go along with the dry food he started to rummage through the cabinets for the cheese he knew his mother and little sister had made that morning.
"So when are you going to let me teach you to hunt, Huyana?" His father's deep voice rumbled through the house.
Pausing in his search Huy turned to look at his parents and then at the knowing faces of his brothers. "Dad, we've been through this. I'm going to become a merchant." He gave a nod of his head then went back to searching for the cheese. If he could just find it then he could leave the kitchen with his food and be out of sight. Out of sight out of mind, that was how he avoided this conversation most days.
"Now son, being a merchant isn't a decent job. Your mother will worry about you being far from home all the time." He tried to use Huyana's mother against him but it didn't work since his mother chimed in.
"I think it is a good choice, dear. Imagine the wealth Huyana can bring home."
A sigh escaped him and he shook his head. In truth he knew that his mother wanted the exotic fabrics and accessories for his little sister. Not that he was against that idea. "I won't change my mind. I'm becoming a merchant." As if to defy his father he took a hard bite out of his bread and chewed obnoxiously. Though he did pause long enough to mention something to his mother. "I even have a companion that is willing to travel with me." Of course that depended on when the two were actually ready to set out. Huy wanted to make sure that Valek would be alright before he set out and left the boy to his own devices. And, now that he thought about it, Eirlys would likely want to make sure her siblings would be cared for in her absence.
"We won't be leaving tomorrow or anything, but.." He shrugged his shoulders. It was still a possibility. And that was all he needed. A small spark of hope that he could have someone to travel with while he worked toward his dream. He would make Zena a trade hub. Exotic goods would be brought in and sold, proceeds would go to the community, and he could watch as his family was set for life. Huyana's goals were high but at least he had some.
"That is wonderful, Huyana!" His mother burst out.
"Awe, no fair! I want to go!" The small voice of his little sister came from somewhere in the middle of all his family members.
Huyana chuckled and shook his head. "You have to stay here and look after Mother." Not only would he not want his baby sister in any danger, but taking her along would drive him insane. Partly because he would be more busy defending her honor than he would obtaining goods. That was something he refused to deal with. He would leave that job up to his two older brothers. They were just as protective, if not more so, as he was. There would be no male that would ruin their little sister. "Besides, you would get bored. I would be haggling and talking price." With one hand he made a vague waving motion as if to push the subject aside.
"I will not have my daughter running around all of Tendaji." His father chimed in to help him there. Thankfully it sparked a small argument between him and his daughter that the rest of the family chuckled at.
During this time Huy managed to find the cheese and slip out of the kitchen and to his room. There he enjoyed his stolen meal and thought about where he would travel to. Surely he would need a game plan. Perhaps he'd talk to some of the merchants in the market in the morning. Learn where the best goods actually were.

❅xxH u y a n a Future on the horizon
Things were looking up for him. Not that they were ever really down. Huyana had a way of making things work out even when they seemed to be a disaster. At first he'd been against having to take on his father's errand to Sauti, but the more he thought about it the better it seemed. And he'd been right! Already he'd made a small connection to a popular Inn. Granted he was only going to be delivering goods from Zena, but that would give him a foothold to work off. It pleased him to know his smooth talking was good for more than just flirting.
Plus, the young Iceling had managed to make a few other connections within his village. Those were easy to make since a lot of the shop owners adored him. Still it was a step in the right direction for him. Something he needed if he was going to become a full time merchant and make his home great.
Now all he really needed to do was get a wagon and beast to pull it. Of course his mother had thought about that and gifted him a familiar that was capable of pulling his small caravan. More than capable actually. It was a Mammu. Huyana thought that the large creature was a bit over kill for such a small wagon since he wouldn't be hauling too many goods for the first year or so. Still, he accepted it. His mother had decorated the beast in much the same fashion as Huy. "Definitely an eye catcher." He chuckled to himself. Still it fit with his personality and that pleased him more than anything.
The wagon was something different altogether. His parents had said that he needed to acquire one on his own to prove he was capable. If he wanted to do this path in life then he would need to know how to be self-sufficient. "Shouldn't be too hard to do, right? I mean, all I have to do is find a wagon for sale and haggle the price." Huy spoke aloud to himself as he walked toward the market. He wouldn't find what he wanted in the main area since that was mostly stalls of trinkets and food so he avoided most of those.
Keeping his eyes open for anything that looked like someone selling a wagon, Huyana tried to go through what he wanted in such a thing. "Some ornate wood. Lacquered of course, I can't have it exposed to the elements. A seat with a cushion so I wont end up with a sore bum. Beautiful wheels. Maybe some with that intricate spoke design I saw on a carriage." Huy ticked off his list on his fingers as he brain stormed. His expectations were set high for such a simple thing, but in his mind you went big or you went home and he was not going to go home. And just like that an idea struck him!
Correcting his footpath Huyana made for the carpenters. Why try to find a wagon that fit his needs when he could simply commission one from the towns carpenter? "I'm a genius!" He declared. It would solve all of his problems as far as the wagon went and he'd have more control over how well it turned out than he would if he simply purchased a used one from someone else. "I'll order it and go from there. Of course he'll need time to make it. I wonder if Eirlys would wait for it to be finished before taking off? Oh yea.. I'll need to make it big enough for us." Huy said "us" as though he knew for a fact that he would have the girl along with him.
Once at the carpenter's he began to describe what it was that he wanted and all the fancy details he expected it to have. Though with the thought of Eiri in mind he added a few extra things. Such as tether holds for any beasts she tamed along the way. Huy was pleased with the time and price, as it could have been a lot worse, and agreed to let the carpenter work. As he left he thought about other things he'd need for when he left.
"Supplies. A map. Any lists from the vendors." The more he thought about it all the more he realized that he had much to do before he could even set out on his first run. It was interesting. Not to mention a bit much to remember! As he reached up to brush his bangs out of his eyes he spotted a small stall in the market place that was selling journals.
"That's it! I'll get a journal and keep track of everything!" A ledger of what he needed and had and where to go. To him, everything was coming together nicely! Moving quickly he approached the seller and started to gaze over the journals that were available. They were all nice but a few stood out to him. They were more ornate than the rest. Some even had gold inlay. He picked out a dark blue journal with simple gold lettering and paid his bill before he walked away. Tucking his new possession under his arm Huyana felt a spring in his step.
"I'm finally getting ready for my first journey."
--------------------------
With most of the smaller things that he needed already assembled, Huyana went to speak with the vendors that he had made deals with. After all, he'd need to know which goods to bring back for them. Or if perhaps they would be interested in anything else he might pick up along the way.
"Hey Savron, do you have that list for me?" He asked the woman that ran a small trinket shop. Huyana made sure that he wore his best smile and turned on his charm. "I'm gathering everything I need for my first run and I would hate to forget the things you need." With a wink he watched her.
The woman blushed and laughed as she waved her hand at him. "You sweet charmer, I've got your list." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small sheet of paper that had been ripped out of a book. "It's all right here." Savron handed Huy the page and blew him a kiss. "You be sure to get everything I ask for."
"Haha! Of course Sav, I would never disappoint you." Placing the list in his journal for safe keeping he offered her a small bow then went on to the next vendor that he needed to collect a list from. His day was a productive one so far. As he came upon an elderly man that was in charge of a food stall he waved his hand in greeting.
"Hello Mr. Yallen. I'll be heading to Tale soon for my first journey, do you have a list of goods you'd like me to pick up for you?" He knew for sure that he was going as far as Tale, though he wasn't quite sure if he was going to go beyond that. It was one of those wait and see types of things.
"Eh? Oh yes yes. It's... well it's here somewhere." The man turned in a circle as he looked around him for the paper he'd written everything down on. It took him a minute but eventually he remembered that he'd left it in his coin box. "Oh yes." Moving toward it he started to mumble about remembering things. Once he had it out he handed it over and nodded at the boy. "Thank you, Huy."
"Sure thing Mr. Yallen." He gave the man a small salute of his hand then stuffed the paper in his journal with the other list. With a final wave goodbye he set off to find his next seller. The rest of his meeting went much the same way until he had all of the papers that he needed. Only five in total but that was enough to start out with. Plus, he still had goods to take out of Zena and deliver to Eira in Sauti. In all he'd have his hands full with that.
Exhausted from his day of planning and obtaining everything he needed, Huyana made his way home. He was ready to unwind and go over a few things with his father about selling his furs. His eyes went skyward as he checked the time. Onuelo should be home by now, he thought. With that in mind he picked up his pace and practically ran the rest of the way to his family house. Despite being ready to hit the hay he was excited about everything and wanted to make sure he had every detail, down to the smallest, planned out and accounted for. It would just make things that much easier for him. Not to mention he'd have a more accurate idea of where exactly he was going to be travelling as opposed to a general location. Tale was large after all.
------------------------------------
Once he was home he quickly set to work on his plans. Huy took over the large dinning table that his family shared meals at and spread out his map so that he could see all of Tendaji laid out before him. Leaning over the page he smiled as he spotted his own village in Zena. “Home sweet home.” Of course he'd be leaving his home within a week or so. Something that he hadn't truly thought about until then. He'd be on the road with no access to his mother's cooking, his father's furs, and his luxurious room. All the finery that he was used to would stay in his house while he traveled to parts unknown.
Staring down at the map he tried to imagine how life would be. Huyana was used to having the best clothes, thanks in part to his mother, as well as good food and coin to spend. Essentially he was giving all of that up so that he could spend his days and nights in a wagon. “I guess I'm crazy to want this..” He said to himself.
Slowly he sank into his chair, hands sprawled out over the detailed map, and let his mind comprehend just what it was he was getting himself into. A world of adventure, that's for sure. His thoughts came slow. I'll meet interesting new people as well.. Which was something he looked forward to in the long run. But.. His eyes moved around to take in the brightly lit room he sat in. I won't see this.. for a while. Just the idea of it was saddening but he couldn't say that he was making a poor choice.
Before he could form another thought within his mind he heard sniffling and shuffling of feet behind him so he turned to see who it was. Huyana saw his baby sister, though she had tears in her eyes, and he smiled. “Hey there princess, aren't you supposed to be in bed?” The young Iceling was about to get up and go to Miskla when she flung her arms out and clung to him.
“Moma said you're leaving. Why?”
There was a small groan that came from him as he tried to imagine just what it was that his mother said to his little sister to make her feel this upset. “I am, but Miskla, I'll be back.” Wiggling his arms free of her hold he wrapped them around her and gently smoothed her hair. “I promise I'll be back.”
Not only would he have to return in order to bring back the goods but he'd miss home. Huy would miss his mother doting on him, his father trying to convince him to become a hunter, his baby sister, and his brothers picking on him. Mostly.. he'd miss the safety of being in his family's home. I should invest in a weapon of some kind in case I run into bandits.. or cutthroats. He'd also need some quick lessons.

❅xxH u y a n a Big news
So he’d gotten the news not that long ago. Eirlys was with child. Huyana had to take a moment, or rather a few hours, to himself to actually process everything that meant to him. The child was his. Obviously. So he was becoming a father. Basically.. He was going to be like his dad. Responsible for a little one. A little one! Huyana’s eyes went toward Valek. The boy was no youngling, but he wasn’t quite ready to go off on his own. He was in that awkward stage. But Huy had been around the boy since he was little little. Valek wasn’t his though.
This baby, when it arrived, would be his. Look like him. Act like him. Oh sweet snow, the child was going to act like him! Huyana, who had been sitting down at that moment, stood abruptly and stared at nothing with a very stricken expression. While he saw nothing wrong with how he acted he couldn’t let his son act like that! It would make his mother upset! Eiri would blame him if their son was so forward with others. Reaching up he ran a hand through his hair and worried a little. Still, he slowly sank back into the chair to continue thinking over what all this meant. If they had a boy then he would act like his father. Though Huyana really hoped that he acted more like his mother. She had boundaries. Was respectful. Just how anyone would want their daughter to be.
A gasp left Huy and he was once again on his feet, this time fretting more. A daughter! What if they had a little girl and she acted like him!? Like an avalanche! Huyana swore under his breath. There would be no way he’d allow a precious little princess act like that! No way he’d allow another guy to act the way he did when dealing with her.
A groan left him. Huy was going to turn into a violent person practically overnight! If he had a little girl and she attracted all the guys then he’d be the world’s most protective father.
Then there were the beasts! Eiri kept pets and they were, sometimes, dangerous! What if one that was too big stepped on the baby!? Or the child wanted to ride it and fell off!? The Ice tribesman had faith is Eirlys’ skill with her beasts but he wasn’t sure, had no way to know, if their child would have that same confidence and touch. Huy was going to end up with greying hair before he even saw the child born! Oh! Would he get to see it come into the world? The pain that Eiri would feel! Instantly his eyes were wide and he didn’t know what to do!
His sweet, beautiful Eirlys was going to be in pain! And he did that! No! He’d find her something for the pain when the time came! He could do that for her! He loved her that much and more.
He started to pace around the room as he thought this through. Huy had never imagined that he would settle down with anyone. After all, it was his firm belief that everyone deserved to be loved. And if he had to be the one to love them then so be it. But now.. His eyes went toward Eirlys and they softened. There was something about her that made him stay. She had her own gravitational pull on him. It was like magic and she was the center of his world.
Looking at Eiri’s belly he let a grin form. Now he would have another center to his world. One that he couldn’t wait to meet. Would the baby be a boy or girl? Would they take after him or their mother? Would they ask questions about Valek when they got older?
Huyana just wanted to hug his woman. Her with her growing belly and glowing aura. She contained life within her and she poured joy into any room. The young man made sure that he would tell his child about how Eirlys caught him. It hadn’t been the other way around like in most love stories, but that didn’t matter. Their child would know that their mother was so beautiful, so captivating, that she managed to tame someone who didn’t think they could ever be tamed.
Lucky child. He thought.
Not only did they have a mother that was amazing, but they would be loved by a big family. Huyana and his family plus Eirlys and her large family. Though that alone brought about another problem. The child was going to be spoiled beyond belief! His mother alone was going to smother the poor thing in all the rich fabrics and new clothes. Huy could only imagine what Eiri's mothers would do. He had a funny suspicion that baby animals would be involved at some point.
He'd have to ask Eirlys to at least make sure that the beasts that were near the child didn't have sharp teeth or poison. Not that he thought she'd ever let such a thing near their baby but.. well he was new at this. So many bad scenarios and all he could do was worry about them all. "I have to ask Eiri how to do this.." He said to himself.
Sure, he could do the big brother thing and make sure Valek had everything, but it was a whole other thing when the child would be his! It was like a whole new set of rules applied then! "I'm so going to mess this up.." He worried. If Huy turned out to be a horrible parent, what then? "Eirlys will have my head, that's what.." Along with her mothers. As if it wasn't nerve wracking enough without the added threat. Rubbing his hands over his face he took a deep breath and tried to think. If he could make sure Valek survived then he could surely make sure his own child did too, right? With a groan that didn't sound too sure he pulled his hands away from his face and headed to his room so he could find Eiri and ask her everything he needed to know.

❅xxH u y a n a A Favor for Family
It was a visit home while he was in town. Nothing more nothing less. And yet.. Huyana found himself staring at his eldest brother as though he had suddenly grown Mammu tusks. "I'm sorry, it sounded like you said-"
"I need you to do me a favor, Huy." Hyan gave him a pleading look.
Normally he would have pushed this off as a trick but the expression in his brother's face was more than off setting. It was real. His left hand came up to pinch the bridge of his nose. Why did he have a bad feeling about this? As he took a deep breath he thought about what it would mean if he did this favor for Hyan. One, it would delay his return to Eirlys and their unborn child. A fact that he had yet to tell his family of. Upon exhaling he nodded his head and dropped his hand to his side. "Alright, lets have it. What's the favor?" Huyana thought he was going to regret this later.
"My wife is desperate to have a baby." Hyan began, though he seemed to stop speaking after that.
Instantly Huyana lifted his hands up into the air. "Whoa. No. I am not doing the honors if you can't deliver big bro." He might have considered such in the past but now.. it wasn't even plausible to him.
"NO! Not that! Huyana!" His brother seemed to be upset by the insinuation but sighed and shook his head. "No. We've been trying. Her sisters have all given the news that they are expecting or delivered. It pains me to see her this way." He paused once more as if he was considering his words. "I need you to get a fertility potion." He wasn't sure if it was he or his wife that needed to take it.
"Okay.. and where do you want me to get that? It's not a hot sell on the market you know." Huyana had yet to see such a thing being sold actually. Which made him skeptical that it even existed.
"There is a rumor that the witch, Baba, can make it." Hyan spoke in a hushed tone then, as if saying the name of the woman would make her appear before them both.
"Baba?" Huyana arched a brow as he appeared to be confused by the hushed tones and the name. Not to mention the witch part. Who called someone a witch? Oracle, sure, they lived up on mount Xi' but a witch? Unless it was meant as an insult, and that didn't sit well with him, he saw no reason for the word to be used in reference to a woman. Chivalry. It lived within him; to a degree.
"Shhhh.. Yes! Look, I need you to get this for me. I will give you whatever you want Huy." It almost seemed like Hyan was going to cover his brother's mouth his hands to keep him from repeating the name any farther.
He considered his sibling for a moment. If what he said was true and his wife was up in arms about everyone around her having children when she had not yet conceived then it would be painful to be around. If his Eirlys had been in such a condition then he too would go searching for a witch that could end her suffering. So he finally nodded his head. "Sure. Where can I find her?"
Hyan looked apprehensive about speaking more of the witch but he stepped closer to his brother so that he could whisper. "She live on the mountain in a house surrounded by bones. It's said her fence is held together by entrails and spells and an eerie glow makes it easy to see." Rumors were wild about this Baba. "Don't look her in the eye, Huy. She has teeth of iron and will pick your bones from them for the slight."
As his brother spoke his jaw came open slightly. Did Hyan really believe all of this? Did the villagers? Did he? That was the real question. If he did then his brother was sending him into the den of a she wolf! If not.. well then he was going to disturb some little old lady in the woods. Damned if he did. Damned if he didn't. "Yea, okay. Which direction, Hyan? And how far? I need to get back to my woman before the child is born."
Then shock showed on his siblings face. "Child? You're.. you're going to be a father?" It looked as though the news made him happy but also stung deep.
Huyana regretted that he'd said those words. Even though there was no malice behind them he hadn't meant to cause his brother pain. So he reached out and patted Hyan on the shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll get the potion and you will be surrounded with little ones." If it did work then he hoped his brother got a howl herd of children.
There was a nod before Hyan looked at the floor. "She is east of here." His words were laden with sadness. "Huy... I.." Appearing to be at a loss for words he turned away.
Huyana watched then sighed before he took a step toward the door. "I know, Hyan. Don't worry. I'll get it." What were brothers for? So he left his family's house with only a rumor to go off. A witchy woman, with teeth of iron, living in a home east of his village that was surrounded by bones, entrails, spells, and a strange glow. Shouldn't be too hard to find, right?
As he walked down the path he shook his head. It was unbelievable to him that he was willing to do this for his brother. However, the more he thought of it the more he realized that it was exactly something he would do. No matter how much he complained of Hyan and Hateo teasing him he loved them. They were his only brothers. "Alright, Baba, I'm coming for you." He said into the cold wind. "Wherever you are."

❅xxH u y a n a Leaving Zena
He was finally going back to Sauti. Granted it had only been a week since he left but he was in such a rush to get back to Eirlys. It was an odd sensation for him. To feel an urgentness to return to a single person. Before his Snow Queen came into his life he usually only sought others out because they had information or something else that he had asked that they get, and even then they typically came to him first. Now his days were all about this one woman. Even before he had learned that she carried his child within her belly. In truth it amazed him. Here Huyana thought that he would never find that perfect one to settle down with. He always assumed that he would be a free lover that never found just one being that completed him. Then, BOOM. Eiri waltzed into his life.
Wearing a grin on his face he thought about her and the times they had shared together. Huy should have known right when he met her. Erilys quickly became all he focused on. He made a custom request for his caravan wagon to be utilized by not only him but by her. The young merchant had made plans to take her along with him long before she had ever said that she would. A bit presumptuous on his part but he couldn’t help it.
Now as he headed back to the Inn in Sauti he gently patted a small trinket box that was in his lap. He had thought about putting it in the back with the rest of the cargo but this little box held something more important than any merchandise that he could ever dream of transporting. It held his future.
Something that he wa hoping would see him and Eirlys with more than one child running around. Just thinking about it made his grin get wider, if it was possible. He wasn’t sure what they were having now. A boy or a girl. He hoped it was a boy. As any man did really. So then maybe they could have a girl the second time around? Or just a house full of boys! He could work with that! Despite getting angry with his own brothers from time to time he had enjoyed growing up with them. When his little sister came into the picture it changed the family dynamic a bit. Everyone became super protective. Maybe he and Eiri could have that. Several boys and then a little girl so she would have lots of big brothers to look out for her. Protect her from players, like he used to be. Well whatever they had he certainly wished that any daughter would have brothers to keep her safe.
Now that he was on his way out of Zena he had shed his heavier coat for one of the lighter ones. It was still a bit chilly but he could manage until they reached better weather. He just didn’t want to be slowed down for anything. His Eiri was waiting for him. The woman that had given him the news not so long ago that she was going to have his child. The same woman that he seemed to think of all the time and dream of when he was sleeping. She was his woman.
With a click of his tongue and cheek he got his Mammu moving and they were well on their way into the Wind territories. While the harsh winds bit at his cheeks and bare arms all he could do was grin like an idiot. Huyana didn’t really care that he might get windburn the joy he would feel when his child was born would trump any pain in the world. Well, maybe not losing Eirlys. That pain and devastation would break him. However, he didn’t want to think about that. So instead he went through his head thinking of names yet again. Huy wanted to pick a name that would fit his child and make their mother happy.
The ice male was deep in his thoughts when his wagon hit a bump and the trinket box was sent out of his lap. “NO!!” Huyana made a mad dive for the box and caught it just in time! His long fingers grabbed it just before it rolled completely off the wagon and into the passing snow. He took a full moment to stare at it before he closed his eyes and let out a breath of relief. It took him another full moment to make sure his heart was still beating before he moved to sit up right. Not wanting to chance losing the trinket box again he tucked it into the blankets beside him so that it was safe and sound.
Once that was taken care of he took the reigns in his hands and ushered his familiar to go faster. The quicker he made it to Eira’s Inn in Sauti the quicker he would be able to present his gift to Eirlys. His golden eyes went to the blanket that concealed his present and hoped that his woman would like it. Since he wasn’t yet a full blown merchant he couldn’t afford the very best but he thought the sentiment would be enough. Along with some of the other aspects that it held. After all, she had been the only thing in his mind when he went shopping for it. So the gift was all about her. For her. From him. If she didn’t like it then Huy wasn’t sure what he was going to do. He had nothing else to give, other than himself, and he wasn’t sure if he was enough. Of course there was only one way to find out!
Flicking the reigns once more Huyana urged his beast to go as fast as it could, in a safe manner since he didn’t want any missteps. He wanted to just race over the land to make it back to Eirlys but he also wanted to be in one piece when he got there.

❅xxH u y a n a Family Man
It had been a few months since Eirlys had given birth to two adorable iclings. A pair of twins that just so happened to be a girl and a boy. So Huyana ended up with both. Not that he was complaining. His woman had done such a wonderful job at bringing new life into the world and in his eyes that made her the strongest and most beautiful female around. Of course now he didn't want to leave her side or his children, which meant that their caravan was suffering a little.
So now he was going over papers with Valek. The boy had been overjoyed to see the twins but he was always worried that there wasn't enough to sustain them. So after many months of him pestering Huyana he go his wish. The tall male was teaching him how to run the vans and take care of the numbers. "See here, I marked five and three. It's not fifty three though. It means that you have five cases and three singles. Do you remember how many were in a case?" He asked curiously to see if his young companion had been paying attention to the lessons at all.
"Oh uhm.. two dozen so, there are twenty four in each case." Valek nodded his head as he was fairly certain about his answer.
Huy gave the boy a long look before he smiled and nodded his head. He had to make him sweat, to see if he would second guess himself. "Very good. You've been paying attention to your numbers lessons." To say that he was proud of the young man was an understatement. After so many years he had come to view the boy as a son and treated him the same way. Now that he had two blood children of his own that wasn't going to change. In fact, it made his feeling stronger because now Valek was their older brother. He would grow with them and eventually watch them when Huy and Eiri had to go out and do other things.
Feeling accomplished Valek straightened up and grinned at Huyana. Then he gave his attention back to the ledgers in front of him. "So this one and four? It's one case and four singles, right?" He felt that he had the hang of it but he wanted to be sure before he started marking in the ledger book. He would hate to get something wrong and have to scratch it out. So far the book was very well kept and there were no mistakes in it.
"Yes. What happens when you drop below two cases?" Since they were looking at an item that had so few in stock he might as well bring up the subject of obtaining more. If Valek remembered how to go about that then he would start letting him handle the books more often.
"You need to get more so you need the item information sheet which is..." There was a pause as the boy tried to remember where he could find the other papers that he needed to look at for this problem. "Which is in the sales book." He perked up at the last moment as he recalled where he could find what he was looking for.
Huyana waited patiently, letting Valek figure it out for himself and when he finally got the answer right he nodded his head in approval then brought the sales book out. Setting it on the table he slid it closer to the boy and motioned for him to open it. "Make sure you match the item numbers then you can figure out where the item was acquired and at what price." All of his books were detailed and well organized. "If it's seasonal then prices vary so you'll have to pay attention to the seasons." He warned. Huy wanted nothing more than to lean over and point to what it was he was talking about but he knew that it wouldn't help Valek in the long run. It might even in fact rob him of the chance to actually learn about how the books were run.
After a few minutes the young man found what he was looking for and noticed that the item that they were low on was in fact a seasonal item. "It says that it's available only in the winter." Valek leaned back in his chair and then looked out the window. It wasn't winter. He felt a bit deflated at that.
"Valek, look again. That item is both seasonal and regional. Which means it's found in one region. Remember some regions have different seasons due to their location." He had hoped that the boy would have worked that out himself but the look on his face had prompted Huyana to speak up. With a soft smile he nodded toward the page again so that the boy would look for himself. Thankfully he did and to Huy that was a sign that he hadn't given up. There was clear promise there.
As Valek sat up straight again to look at what he had missed he seemed to understand. "Ah, then this item is available in Zena right now." He nodded his head as he spoke more to himself than anyone else. Continuing to read more about the product he heard the soft cry of a baby behind him. Instantly he lifted his head and turned to look in that direction. He always wanted to jump up the moment one of the little ones fussed but he always felt like he was imposing. So instead he looked at Huyana. "I think Eirlys may be tired so you should go take over for a while. I'll keep reading these if that's ok?"
He too had heard the soft cry. It was something that made his heart both drop and race at the same time. Huyana was always sure that there was something direly wrong with his children when the cried. As Valek seemed to react he felt a new surge of pride for the boy. Though when he heard his words he nodded and got to his feet quickly. "Yes, that's fine. If you'd like get out a clean piece of paper and write down what needs updated. Items we need and everything else. When I'm done taking care of the twins then I'll come check your work. Sound good?" When Valek nodded and eagerly got to work Huy headed toward the room he and Eiri shared with the new babies.
The smile that found it's way onto his face was unavoidable. Huyana found that he was enjoying fatherhood more and more. Of course that didn't mean he knew exactly what the hell he was doing. Often times he had to ask Eirlys or even Valek how to do something or for help but that didn't take away from the good feelings. His daughter was a curious thing and his son was usually so cuddly. Everything was just going so well now. He could barely remember the panic he felt before they arrived. Huyana had always worried that he wouldn't know what to do or how to help his woman. With a happy mood he slipped into the room and went to soothe his babies.

❅xxH u y a n a Living the Life
Over the years he had gotten used to the comfortable routine of being a father. Of course he had some issues with his daughter, she didn't much like him. Huyana chalked it up to her anger problems. There was no way he could believe that his daughter detested him that much. She had been his first born and was his little princess. Her and her brother were his world. Along with their mother, Eirlys.
If someone would have told him in the past that he would be a happily settled man he would have laughed at them. There was no way he could have settled for one person and tamed his affections for others. However, seeing Eiri and knowing what kind of woman she was, he could see it. He could understand how she managed to catch him. Huyana admired her and saw her for what she was. A strong independent woman. Eirlys didn't need him. She wanted him. And that was a feeling that every man loved. Sure being needed was a good feeling but being wanted by a woman like her, that was something altogether different.
He leaned back in the chair he was sitting in and looked down at the arm band he wore. It was silver with gold inlay and had snowflakes on it. It also matched the one that his wife wore. That's right. Wife. Eirlys was his wife. He'd bonded with her publicly. Forever letting everyone know that he was her man. A grin spread across his lips. He wasn't sure what else a man could ask for. Well, more children, but that was already in the works.
Yep! Huyana and Eirlys had talked about having more kids and both agreed. They wanted more, they wanted a big family. Eiri was already from a large family and she enjoyed it, Huy was growing used to the extra love and attention that came with a large family but he did love the idea of more of his own children running around. Even though Iriyana and Hulis weren't that old he felt that his babies were getting older and would soon have no need of him. When the two of them were little and running around he had likely been the happiest man in all of Tendaji.
Moving to get to his feet he headed over to the worktable that was nearby and ran his fingers over the wood that was being carved. When his first set of twins had been born he had been so unprepared. He had nothing for them and was panicked when they arrived. This time he wanted to have everything ready. So Huyana had been busy widdling away at some wood and making a crib. Surprisingly he learned that he was pretty decent at woodwork. Already the images of baby beasts could be seen etched into the surface. Huyana had decided to go with beasts to honor his wife since she was a beast tamer and the baby versions in honor of the baby, or babies, that would soon lay inside.
The ice male had also made sure that the crib would be big enough for more than one baby. He had made the mistake of thinking Eiri had been carrying only one child the last pregnancy. So for when they finally got the good news that she was expecting again he would be ready for a pair. An amused smile plastered itself all over his face.
When he heard a sound outside he looked up and out the window at the beasts gathered there. Valek had done a good job in getting the caravan ready for them. Huyana had plans to make a trip into Jauhar. Not only did he have goods to sell but he wanted to pick up some things as well. With how happy he had been feeling as of late he thought that picking up gifts for the kids and Eirlys would be a nice gesture. It would also help in the long run since Valek had expressed a desire to be the one that ran the caravans.
It meant that Huyana would be able to set up a shop in a local market. He wouldn't have to travel or leave his family as often. Not unless Valek needed him to go on a trip with him. So it was the beginning of Huy officially settling down. Even if he had done it backwards. He'd had kids, gotten married, and was now going to set up shop in a local village. All this made him chuckle. It was worth it.
He gave another glance at the crib that was in the process of being made then headed for the door. He paused only long enough to grab his log books and walking stick then he headed out the door. Walking over to Valek the older ice male handed over the books. It was a symbolic passing of the torch. On this trip the boy would be in charge of keeping records. If all went well then Huyana would be living the good life with his family when they returned from Jauhar. With that done he moved over to check the animals and be sure that the boy had done everything he was supposed to. Normally Valek had this in the bag so Huyana didn't expect to find anything but he wanted to make sure that there was nothing else he could teach the boy before sending him off on his own.
Once he assessed that everything was ready to go he nodded his head then motioned for the younger iceling to continue on. Huyana would stand back and watch as the caravan wagons were hooked up and loaded. Valek seemed proud of the work he was doing and would look back at Huy to get a nod of approval here and there but otherwise he was doing perfectly. Once everything was done Huyana gave his full seal of approval. The only thing he needed to do now was tell Eiri that he and the boy would be leaving for Jauhar and would be back in roughly two months. It was a short trip, one that gave little time for sight seeing. Huyana wanted to go there, do business, and be back home as quickly as possible.
(( Huyana is finally settling down! He has realized that after having kids and getting married he is ready to settle in one spot and set up his own shop rather than travel around. He is ready to pass the torch to Valek, his apprentice, as well as have more kids with his wife. ))
