Ash shuddered. She didn't see Aunt Nereus as attractive. But Aunt Nereus was a lady and that wasn't something Astridr was into. "Who knows... Maybe we're related to the whole island or something... Guardians know our family is huge." She frowned, kicking something out of her way. Tiny rock...
"If Aunt Nereus catches us, I don't think she'd tell our dads. Maybe Uncle Junior, but not our dads... Uncle Junior is cool, I think we'll be fine." Ash said, fully confident in that line of thought. Uncle Junior had only ever told on her once, and that was cuz she'd gotten into some serious trouble. Lots of sunlight and not a sibling or parent in sight.

He frowned deeply, pondering her statement. Surely they couldn't be related to EVERYONE, but it's not like he had any personal experience to back that up. "Well, our family had to become huge from somewhere right? I mean, Dad isn't Papa's cousin or something...I hope. Maybe we'd just have to go really far away? Do you know how big the island is?" He didn't. But when he flew up above the trees it spanned farther than his eyesight. "Maybe. Not a chance I'd like to take though. If we see her we should keep low and not run up to her. I know how friendly you are."

That was a pretty good thought. How on the isle could they possibly be related to every pae on it? And then Leif had to go and ruin her train of thought. Astridr cringed, shuddering. "Ugh. Our dads can't be related. That's just nasty." How could anyone look at their family like that? "The island's gotta be huge. Otherwise.. Ew."
She stuck her tongue out at Leif. "Not like I'm going to be out sunning myself like you will. It's really sunny out there"

"Hey, you don't know that. It's gross to us, but it could be either cousins or fish ladies!" Why else would Uncle Junior go for a naiad instead of a normal looking pae?
Was that racist? Or just ignorance? Why oh why didn't their dads just take them out to the real world sometimes? It felt like they lived in a little family bubble. "Keep sticking your tongue out like that and your face'll stick that way!" Leif teased as he fluttered over a fallen tree trunk. "Too bad you can't enjoy the Sun without it hurting. It's like a really warm hug."

"You know, I think I'll take the scales. But do they have to be ladies?" She could handle scales, those could be pretty. Sparkling in the sunlight, or the moonlight, a gem on a body she'd never be able to touch... Astridr's mind started to wander, only snapping back when Leif scolded her tongue sticking out.
"Thanks Dad." She rolled her eyes, the same way she'd have responded if it were their parents telling her that. It was also followed by a laugh and a groan. "Ugh. Don't remind me. I wish I could enjoy the sun with you and Natta and Dad and Daddy... It really sucks being the one stuck back in the shadows while you all get to go out and play."

"Well, we've only seen lady naiads. So. As of right now, yes." Until they got more information. Which perhaps on the beach trip they would. Maybe there were half naiads...It made him wonder if Uncle Junior and Nereus would ever have a baby, what it would look like.
"Just trying to n** a childish habit in the tail!" He laughed with her, especially at the rolling of eyes. She was too fun to tease. "At least you don't have to do any outside chores. And you don't have to worry about uneven tan lines." With his skin fairer than Natta's, there had been a time or two he fell asleep outside. Ended up with a pale hand shape on his stomach with that tan.

"Are you saying that I'd need to be a lesbian if I didn't want to date a cousin? That can't be right. There's gotta be some males out there that aren't related to me." Astridr chewed on her lip. She didn't want to date one of her cousins, or a lady. Even if scales were involved, the lady parts were a hard no...
"You say that, but you don't have many inside chores either. I take care of the inside of the house cuz you two get the outside." The femme pointed out, remembering things very differently than they usually occurred. "At least you get to tan. I could burn to a crisp out here and still be as white as I was before the burn!" She threw her hands up. This whole being pure white thing sucked.

"Well...doesn't it make sense since Dad and papa are males?" Couldn't have a male naiad so was stuck with a cousin. By this point he knew he was overreaching, but it was fun to see Astridr all puffed up over it.

Ash frowned. She didn't want to think the only way she'd ever fall in love was if she found a cousin or a woman. Women weren't her thing. Leif could have every free member of her gender he wanted. All Astridr wanted was one man she wasn't related to. "I hate that it does..." She whined, hating it when her brother actually made sense.
"Oooooh. Then you can tell me how gorgeous you think the color white is. Cuz I have to tell ya, it sucks."

"Don't push it. Just look at the bright side instead of being all mopey about it. Each of us has flaws, you just have to make those flaws into bonuses." He wasn't always the type to hand out pep talks, but it seemed like a good point to do so. When the call for a good big brother sounded, he always answered. "Whew, is it just me, or is this walk longer than usual?" He spoke with a chuckle.

"How on this great island am I going to make allergy to the sun a bonus? I could go nocturnal and not see anyone ever again, but that would suck. At least living in the jungle I don't have to see a lot of the sun." She shrugged, twisting her hair. The only time she saw the sunlight was when she went out the front of the house and into the village. Any of the villages nearby for that matter.
"Nah, it's just you Leif. Remember you're walking with sun allergy, we're taking the long route so you can stay at the beach with me longer."

He literally face palmed. It was like arguing with a tree. "I don't know. Some pae might like the extremely white look you have. The cousins or fish females, which ever you choose. Someone is going to have to love that I look like I'm part tree."
He rubbed the back of his neck at the reminder, a trait picked up from his dad. "Right, right. What a nice brother I am."

"Lets hope these fish ladies like white then." Astridr tried to cheer up, play along. All things together, it all looked pretty bleak. "Trees and water? I think someone's going to fall hard for you Leif." She grinned, slugging him in the arm. Her punches were never rough, no strength behind them. Yet again, something she didn't inherit from Dad.

"Just you wait. You'll get a fish lady before I do." He spoke with a chuckle that turned into a laugh with her slug. "Best there's EVER been eh? Don't conveniently forget that when our birthday rolls around." He was the older brother, but being triplets it wasn't by much. Birthdays would look like a pile of presents with all the gifts from each sibling and parent.

Astridr rolled her eyes, smirking. No way she was going to get a fish lady, she didn't even want a lady. Maybe there were fish guys she could look at instead. "Just don't forget I'm the best little sister ever. Who else would be your wingman?" She didn't want to knock their sister, but would Natta be a wing man for either of them?
