21 - 30: A rickety wooden bridge is ahead, obscured by fog that's the sort of cold that runs all the way down to your bones. In the distance, you hear the steady beat of hooves against dirt, but they never seem to get any closer. A plank snaps underfoot, and one of your feet slips beneath, touching the water-- and something grabs your ankle for just a moment.

Stepping from the portal the youngest hunter joined back with the group, a cold chill bringing hands up to fold over his chest for a hug of warmth. It was calm and dark which was admittingly a good thing it let some of the trainees worries flood away as lights passed through the trees to briefly shine on face. A look was given to those in company before the woods was motioned to by Ever, it seemed the more logical choice so Cain didn't argue simply followed behind Matt still hugging himself.

Given the position Evers condition hadn't been noticed since stormy eyes focused on the wandering Matt. Where was this guy going? Steps brought Cain steadily closer to Matt before it struck his mind to tell Ever, stopping movement he turned back peering into the darkness of the woods. That cold chill came as fog rolled in, luring the blonde towards what looked like a bridge in the distance, "hey...a bridge.." The words rolled casual from tongue, lost more than likely as he moved further towards it in a sort of ********.." Cain breathed swearing if not for the fog covering around face that the breath could be seen given how much colder it felt in this particular area of the woods. The chill of it hitting hard and making body shiver, feet shakily moving under the creaking boards under them. It was faint to the sound of the bridge below him but there in the distance the sound of something broke through. The noise catching attention pulling the disoriented trainee towards it. That soft thump of hooves was recognized after a moment given the Roy family had owned horses, but even like this to think that it was only a horse was to fool himself.

One step, the wood gave a terrible sound, two step the wood threatened again but the captured trainee didn't hear. Step three was the final straw, a plank gave way under what weight Cain carried and sent him down with a loud yell of, "********!" The word echoed in the sleepy woods, all around then another joined it when something grabbed his ankle in cold dark wetness below, "HELP!" The touch had startled him, scared the blonde who was now thrashing around in a wild panic as heart raced and blood ran cold since he couldn't get his foot unstuck the way he was.

61 - 80: You come upon a grove with a crumbling mausoleum, looted and rotting. Trying to go around it, somehow, pulls you right back to its entrance. Upon going in, you have a vision of your own death, however fantastical it might be. As soon as it's over, you snap back to reality, and the mausoleum is gone, leaving behind an open grave, a number of skeletons piled high in the dirt.

He'd taken another route, but somehow -- indescribably -- Ever had ended up at the same mausoleum as Matt, had stepped through its doors, and had been thrust immediately into a familiar dream: water pouring down his throat and into his lungs, filling his nose and eyes, the murky depths of a dirty pond with grasping weeds reaching from the mud at its bed. He sank down, down, choking and drowning, let out a low keening noise --

And blinked up to find Matt in front of him, instead, the other man looking a bit pale himself. A similar dream, both of them faced with just a pile of dirt. The mausoleum gone. He opened his mouth to say something, but his attention was drawn away by a distant cry, instead.

"s**t." His knees were wobbly, but he started off in search of Cain anyway.

He didn’t notice Ever near him, it wasn’t until the sound of the younger hunter’s cry and the shuffling of the figure wobbling on its knees that Matt realized what he was doing and where he was going. Trailing behind the other, they headed back towards the path in the direction that the cry had come from as wisp from a fog started to roll in crawling its way slowly across the ground. A wooden bridge was up ahead, the same one the blonde was struggling as a creeping cold shivered up Matt’s back as the fog grew even heavier.

The first few steps on the bridge creaked under his weight as Matt drew closer, his fingers tugging the sleeves of his jacket down further around his fingertips. It was colder than it was earlier, as the sound of hoof beats echoed in the distances, causing him to turn around briefly confusion on his face as he stepped forward as the sound of snapping sounded underneath. Much like the other his foot ended up through the bridge something wet and cold slipping around his ankle pulling down.

“s**t, what is that?”

The blonde was more focused on getting free of the rickety old bridge than on the approaching steps. Likely an occupational hazard but that didn't matter at the moment. The only thing that did was getting free and away from the shiver inducing cold that the fog here contained. A chatter of teeth on teeth and Cain's head snapped to the sound of another victim of the bridge.

Matt had fallen.

Great now all they needed was Ever to come join the party! A hiss sounded around them, a low masculine noise, as finally the short blonde managed to push himself up. Leg free, standing on two feet goosebumps were rubbed viciously as they took over tanned arms. ******** it was chilly here, Cain needed to move though not entirely because of the cold. Pale eyes glanced down to Matt as the other spoke no doubt having been touched by the same thing that startled him.

“How the hell should I know genius.” He snapped bitterly, having lost what little faith was in this so called team since he essentially rescued himself. A huff, a puff and Cain was walking away leaving Matt to do the same unless Ever helped him out. Determined to check things out then get the hell away from everyone so he could check out the leg that was grabbed in paranoid peace.

Swift steps brought the blonde to a crumbling mausoleum, it was rotting to pieces in this hell. Maybe it too was trying to escape, not that he could blame it. A shake of head, then move of feet and he was going around only to somehow end up right back at the entrance. "The hell..." he muttered baffled at how this could even be possible. It wasn't, was the point, but that logical thinking didn't make the vision received upon entrance any less real.

Sliced right down the middle, split in two halves as he tried to protect one shadowy figure from another, hot and cold at the same time. Blood, screams and chaos everywhere. That same chill from the fog sweeping over the blonde and making shaky knees give out just in time to send a silently weeping Cain to a floor of bones.

Staring down at a skull now, one hand swept up to clutch over mouth and into his palm Cain screamed as loud as he could. Not scared, not really, but not entirely sure how to feel....

You see an old man, stooped over as he makes his way down a path. His head is ducked down, focusing intently on watching where he steps, a candle in his hand. Trying to get his attention to ask him about anything at all results in his head turning all the way around, his eye sockets completely empty. In the blink of an eye, he's gone, leaving behind only his candlestick holder, still smoking.

Ever trailed Cain for a bit, quiet in his wake, more serious now -- and with a headache building once again behind his eyes, a slow pounding at his temples, making his stomach twist just a little. It made things blur just a little, made his attention wander.

In the distance, he thought he saw a man: he gestured, briefly, to Matt, pointing in that direction, hoping that he wouldn't go alone or at least they'd come looking for him if something happened. It seemed unwise to wander too far from each other. Still, he couldn't quite resist moving closer to the stranger, voice raised just barely above a murmur to try and get his attention,

"Sir? Excuse me? I think you probably --"

Before he could finish the thought, the old man's head turned around, empty eyes peering into Ever and cutting off whatever else he'd been about to say. He swallowed once, slowly, uneasy, took a stumbling step backwards again, and blinked several times to clear the vision from his eyes.

It worked. Nothing there, he thought, until he spotted the candleholder, candle still burning. Ever stepped forward slowly, one hand on his weapon, to collect it -- and then drop it again, at the sound of Cain's scream.

His eyes narrowed briefly at the other hunter as he walked by as if giving some sort of attempt to shoot daggers into the back of his head. If Matt didn’t have any sort of morality he would have done so, toss him to whatever was under the bridge, and would have been more than happy to leave him there for dead. Of course that would result in problems and paperwork and not to mention leave a mark on his mostly decent reputation that for the most part he had tried to maintain. No, instead he just grinned and bared it as he pulled his leg up freeing it from the grasp of the bridge before trailing behind Cain silently. He tried to keep an eye out for Ever but there wasn’t a sign of him nearby, or at least not a visible sign in the dark and fog, leaving Matt more at the mercy of following the other not wanting to separate the group and scattering even more.

Following him silently he kept a few swift steps behind him, noticing the crumbling mausoleum again, or maybe it was a different one from before? Matt couldn’t particularly tell as he followed behind the younger hunter, his hand outstretched to pull him back to warn him. It was a trap, not to step in, to get away.

He watched as his fingers wrapped around the hunter’s wrist not realizing it was enough to pull him through the entrance. The younger hunter grinned, turning around as he sank a knife into Matt’s chest as if cutting through butter. He let his fingers slip, a look of confusion and horror fluttered across Matt’s face as he tried to gasp for a breath of air, the feeling of tightness, slowness, as if something stopped working in his chest. Stumbling back, he landed on the ground, hand around the handle as they fumbled trying to pull it out to stop the pain, everything moving slower and fading to a blur.

A scream ringed in Matt’s ears jolting him back to reality as he faced the pile of skeletons in front of him again, the younger hunter was looking at a skull, hand over mouth as if disturbed by something he saw. Getting to his feet Matt snorted before brushing the dirt off his coat and walking a few brisk steps away from the hunter and the unwanted pile of bones.

1- 20: IN the woods, you hear a wheezing sort of laughter, ringing in your ears. Amidst the fog, yellow-orange lights bob in the distance, steadily growing closer no matter where you go. Your vision blacks out for a few seconds, and when it returns, a singular jack o lantern is resting atop a branch, its candle snuffing out abruptly.

When that sick feeling in the pit of stomach finally subsided Cain dropped the skull. Glancing back at footsteps to see Matt walking away, not wanting to be left alone he got up. Following and brushing off bone dust as he tried to catch up to be at least a few steps behind Matt. This place, it was worse than the island with the dolls. At least that hadn't mind screwed him, hadn't made everything shake within him.

A deep inhale and the younger hunters smart mouth was tightly closed. Teeth grinding as they walked into the cold, dark foggy place deeper. Cain wanted to leave, but they couldn't. Not until they found whatever the hell was- The trainees thoughts cut off abruptly when a wheezing laughter broke through air. A swallow and he called in a soft whisper to Matt, pausing as he did, "did you hear that...?" Blue greys squinted into the fog, spotting yellow-orange lights bobbing in the distance. He jumped slightly startled and started to move again, but they were following, Cain tried to calm his heart beat. Refusing to run this time as every ******** time he did it only got worse.

By the time he looked back to the swiftly approaching lights he was hit with a sudden dizzy spell, a hand moving out to catch him against the trunk of a tree. The world was black, his face hot against the cold night, and then the fog in body lifted. Slowly his vision and heart rate came back to normal, though a flicker of light had eyes glancing up to a jack o lantern atop a branch above his head. "..What the hell..." Cain breathed softly, reaching up for it only to stop abruptly as the light went out.

"Cain! Matt?" His voice was hoarse and distant to the others' ears; Ever's attempts to find the rest only leading to a slow circle of the forest, an aimless wandering that, it seemed, took him back to where he'd been before: a mausoleum that stared at him malevolently as he stood facing it, frozen in place. He knew what would happen if he approached, remembered the visions, swallowed and tried not to choke. Instead, Ever tried to walk away, pivoted to the right -- and somehow, stepped right into it.

This time, it wasn't water but insects. A swarm, familiar, that battered against his breast, against his cheeks and his eyelids and his throat, that struggled between his lips to fill his lungs. It downed him, choking and coughing, frantic as they pulled him into death --

But at least he woke up. And, he thought he saw Matt moving away from him as he stood, raised his voice again, "Matt!"

Matt didn’t give any heed to Cain trailing behind him, instead he put all his thought of keeping an eye out for anything else strange that lurked in the darkness and for any sign of where Ever had disappeared to. Everything in the forsaken woods was starting to mess with his head and it was grueling on his nerves more than the hunter wanted to admit to.

They had hardly taken any steps away from the mausoleum before the fog easily wrapped the two hunters into the darkness of the woods again a shiver of cold running along the hunter’s spine before Cain whispered something, hearing something. Matt turned.

He was gone.

s**t, Matt muttered under his breath turning around and walking back in the direction he had left, or maybe it was best to say assumed he had left before he heard Ever’s voice call out his name. Heading towards it the fog made it hard to see, obscuring most of his vision until he stepped past the threshold of the mausoleum again, the sounds of vague curse words rolling off his lips.

This time it was a woman, familiar in appearance as his mind screamed at him the impossibilities of her existence. She drew closer her voice soft and lulling as she spoke the words failed to make any sense to him as he watched her as if trying to still tell himself it was a dream but wishing it wasn’t. His body frozen where it stood she was close enough now to wrap her fingers around his neck and squeeze, his eyes watching her smile until it faded to black.

Matt awoke, standing staring at the pile of bones before groaning and shaking his head looking around to where Ever’s voice had been earlier.

"Cain! Matt?" Ever's voice broke through his fog and the young lifer croaked out, "I'm here! I'm coming!" Not that he thought he'd be much help with whatever Ever was yelling about. But now after all this, going alone was biting off more than one could chew here. There were to many illusions traps, to many bumps in the woods to keep a person sane alone.

Hove beats started again and Cain sprinted faster in panic.

Another call for Matt from Ever and Cain picked up the direction, speeding towards it in a sprint to hopefully find the two men. Though his run was blind and ended up leading him right back across the very bridge he fell through before. Just like last time a foot went right through the rotten wood and ,splash, Cain found himself in a full body chill as something ran over leg. "It's not real...it's not real Cain.." The blonde chanted to himself as hands hit palms down on the more sturdy wood, terrified but pulling himself together and up from the hole.

When free he started towards the sound of steps hoping they were the other mens, "Ever?...Matt?" Cain called out into the woods, swallowing a thick knot of stress in throat.

"Cain!" He saw a man on the horizon, smaller than Matt, he thought -- dark with his head down, it had to be the younger man. But as Ever got closer, it slowly resolved into a more familiar shape, the candle in hand once again. This time, though, Ever just turned around and walked in the other direction.

He wasn't falling for that again.
