May Day allowed himself to breathe a few times as she got up to answer the door. He still didn't want to ---and couldn't-- think straight, to giddy with joy to do anything but try to keep himself from laughing like a loon. He looked over at La Muerte, who opened one eye curiously at him, and shone the full force of his smile at her.
When Candy came back, he nuzzled against her. Now that he had had a chance to be close to her, he never wanted to do anything other than that.
"I'm okay with that if you are," he said. "More than okay. And anyway, we're still friends--just--you know… friends and more than friends."

More than friends. THAT made her heart beat a frantic rhythm. Was she ready for that? She looked at him. A few strands of that papery hair were rumpled, and his eyes were glittering like her own.
"I think I'm very ok with that."
Now it was her turn to bring her lips to his. She felt her heart melt, and her legs turn to jelly.
Yeah, she could definitely get used to this.
