Whispering Minstrel Evening of Day Two All the other folk headed to bed, hoping that this night would be more peaceful than the last. GaleminusAs the creature followed the odd thin thing of two legged proportions, it came upon a strange square...thing. << ....Whaaa?>> In the moment the Galemn took to study the strange... object in front of it, it almost missed the two-leg going inside, it's desired food upon its shoulders. << Where go?>> It sat confused for a moment, not knowing what to do next. It began to snuff around the trees and objects around the new place it had discovered. << Many Smells, what is, ...huh?!>>Soon a very tantalizing smell came from the new thing it was circling. It began to drool, ideas forming in it's head as to what those new savory things were. << Plan... what do?>> After some ill conceived deliberation, It decided to lie in wait, maybe the two-leg may reappear and the secrets of the smells may be revealed! It was drowsy, and hungry. a sleepy combination the two feelings turned out to be. It drooled softly snoring as it drifted off in front of the cabin door...

The morning dawned once more, and this time seemingly without incident or disturbance from whatever had arrived. The people awoke refreshed and began their day with the fears of the previous day behind them...until a disturbance alerted them that all was not well. The innkeeper was frantically looking around the town, her hair lacking their usual curl and overall kept manner. Her thin face was drawn in worry, and it looked as if she had not slept at all. "Cailly...Cailly!" she called, her voice cracking from strain. Her eyes sighted on the short frame of the town healer heading toward her herb garden, and a scowl defaced her normally pleasant expression. "You! You did this didn't you?!" she shrieked, pointing an accusing finger at Yvenne. She knew it, the girl never did like her beautiful pet. And with all the fear going on about things in the woods, it would have been the perfect opportunity to get rid of her precious Cailly. Yvenne simply stared at Martha or a few seconds, before sighing and shaking her head at the woman. "Martha...you know I would never do such a thing. It is against my code." she spoke calmly to the distressed Innkeeper, reaching into her bag for a small bundle. She took one of the other woman's hands and placed the package in it, saying,"Make some tea with this, it should help you sleep. I will search for the...creature, for you." She was going to say pest, but that would have only made matters worse. The willowy lady gave a sniff to the healer, before turning and heading back to her inn. Yvenne watched her go for a few minutes, making sure that she really was going to go to sleep, before making her way to the house of Beety and Otis. Nikole had come down with a slight cold again, and to her that was more important to take care of at the moment than a pest that probably was just getting into trouble somewhere. As she was walking, she nearly slipped on some odd substance on the ground. Following the it with her eyes, she saw that the slime made a trail all the way to the town gate... ------------------------------------------------- Indeed, Cailly had gotten into mischief, along with her new friend the slime monster! Spending the night in the apple barrel, the furry thing scurried back to the top of the barrel, bouncing on top of it to try and get it rolling again. But, it would seem that the fun had ended, as it had gotten stuck between some large tree roots. Her tiny stomach growled, and soon she was traveling the undergrowth in an attempt to find any manner of fruit she could eat. It wasn't used to being outside for a long period of time without the shrill-thing, but it was going to have some fun before she came and got her. She always did, anyway. ------------------------------------------------- At the farmhouse, just as the sun was rising, the Twiggs got up to begin their days. Lonnie heading to the back to go and check on the animals, and Leira through the front with her bow in hand. She had a request from the Nightwatchman to try and get something big for his family. She shook her head with a smile as she opened the front door. That family always needed so mu- Her thought was cut by her suddenly tripping over a large thing laying in the path of the door. Hand going out to try and stop her fall, she felt a painful twinge as her weight hit the ground. Trying to her to her feet quickly, she looked back at the door and froze. There was something large, scaly, and seemingly monstrous sleeping on their front porch. And she may have just woken it up.

Galemnius<< No wake, sleep little longer>> When the weird two-leg tripped over it, the Galemn stirred from its slumber. After blinking a few times in the early morning light it settled its focus on the strange thing the other thing had disappeared into the other night. The thing in front of it was open! It got up to its feet slowly and stuck its head in. after sniffing a bit, it concluded there was no food here, only lingering scents. << Where smell thingies?>> In the absence of food it turned around. Seeing the two-leg before it, it cocked it's head to the side and began to think. << Thing with legs get food... Bring here... will wait or follow till food... tired hunting.. roots yuck..>> It stayed like that for a while...

Goopy had quite the exciting night, eating apples and making a strange furry friend, but then the furry friend curled up and just sat there for hours. Did the friend need food? Goopy searched deeper into the woods for something for his friend to absorb and become active again, leaving a trail behind while returning with the branch of a berry bush sticking out of him, the berries themselves on the outside of Goopy's body and the stick part on the inside, dissolving much slower than the apples had.
When he returned to the barrel, Goopy found the friend was moving again! How peculiar! He slimed back over to the barrel and wibbled a little, shaking the berry branch back and forth to try and get the hairy one's attention.

Leira stood there, still as she could possibly get. She did not want the creature in front of her to suddenly attack her, so running was not a good option. Neither was calling for her brother, as that might provoke it as well. She glanced around to see any viable option, and was alarmed by the fact the beast sat between and her house...no, it was starting to move away. Towards the front door! She noted that it moved rather sluggishly, wide feet slapping against the wooden porch. She might have a chance if she bolted for the tree line. While its attention wasn't focused on her, she moved slowly to pick up her bow from the ground, wincing slightly from the sudden pain in her wrist. She must have sprained it from the fall. The thing stopped sniffing around the inside of the door and looked back at her. Was it looking for something? Maybe it had followed the scent of the boar? Which meant it was hungry. This was not a good scenario, especially if it saw her as food. "Easy now big guy..." she said, her voice kept low so as not to startle it into action. She slowly moved her foot forward, toward the door. There were some left over bits she was salting in the back for winter. Maybe if it got something to eat it would leave her and the other farm animals alone... ---------------------------------- Being a (somewhat) domestic creature suddenly thrown into the wild, foraging for food had not gone all as planned. The green thing had left while Cailly was asleep, so of course the first thing she did was explore her surroundings! Which involved finding something sticky, and nasty to try to clean out of her fur, so she sat rather glumly with leaves sticking to her face. Her ears perked up at the sound of something slowly making its way toward her, and she gave a happy chirp when she saw it was the green thing again! It started to wave something near her face, and she tracked the movement with her whole body, swaying like a metronome until she leaped up and snagged the thing with her tiny teeth. Feet moving quickly to remove it from the slime's body, she was pleased to see that it was a branch, with tiny red berries dotted along it. Pincers wiggling, she peeled the outer layer of the berries skin and nibbled on the pinkish insides contentedly. Continuing this with the other berries, until she was full, she began to chitter excitedly and wriggled around in circles. What were they going to do next?

When it made no move toward her, she eased her way past it, slowly opening the front door and slipping into the house, closing the door behind her. Leaning her back against the door, she breathed a sigh of relief, glad to have made it out of that predicament alive. She peeked from the side of the window, checking to see if it was still out there, which to her dismay it was. Just...sitting there. Watching the door. In her current condition, she couldn't even think about killing the thing. The sprain wouldn't allow her to draw the bow string, nor could she climb anything speedily enough to get a height advantage. She would have to settle with drawing the thing out of the towns vicinity and hope that it stayed away. But first...her brother. He was probably still out checking on the cow and the chicken coop, and no where close to be coming back to the house. Which was both a good thing because he would be safe, and a large inconvenience on her in case the thing decided to attack. She couldn't go out the back either, for fear the thing would follow her to the animals. She would have to settle with leading the thing out. Stepping down into the cellar, she took a large portion of the meats she had been curing for when the snows came in. It would be a loss to their food supply if things grew bad, but once her wrist healed she could go and hunt again to make up for it. She returned to the front door, opening and closing it again behind her, before stopping to asses the creatures reaction to the food in her hands.

Goopy watched very curiously as the furry friend took the berries and stuffed them into her mouth. Is that how this creature eats? Not like a Goopling at all, that's for sure. What would happen in she missed her mouth? Would the berry get swallowed up in that fur? What a strange friend Goopy has made...
And the furry friend seemed anxious to do something else, which was a good plan, Gooplings must always be on the lookout for food and shelter, so going out to find a cool place to wait out the bright sun was a good idea. Blubbering to the furry friend, Goopy led the way and slimed around the outskirts of the woods in search of some good shade among the trees, keeping to the shade of the trees as best as a Goopy could.
While slime-ing along, Goopy came across another tall monument of wood and brick on the edge of the forest, the Woodsman's Hut. And lo and behold, there was a biiiig stack of wood on the side of the house that cast a long cool shadow, a perfect place for a Goopling to rest, so he went on over to stay cool and investigate.

Watching as the green goop slowly made its way through the brush, Cailly followed behind, scampering energetically along tree trunks and rocks, stopping every once and a while to stare at their surroundings curiously. Fairly soon they came to a house thing, that wasn't the shrill-voiced ones, but it had a familiar smell to it. If only the fuzzy thing could remember what it was... The slime made its way around the side of the house, behind a giant stack of logs that smelled freshly cut. Climbing on the pile, she wove herself through the little gaps between the wood and chirped for the slime, her head poking out at a different gap than the one she had entered.

As Goopy came to the pile of wood, the furry friend scampered on ahead, and very dexterously slid and climbed through the tight crevices of the log pile, her head poking out in a totally different spot. Well Goopy can play this game too! Going right up against the wood logs, Goopy oozed his way into the crevices, his goopy body filling up the spaces in the log pile and spreading the slime creature thin along the cracks until he met up with the fur friend and blurlbed happily while poking his own head out, look he made it too!

Clambering to the outside of the woodpile as the slime worked its way into the crevaces, Cailly bent craned herself down to look through the holes as the green thing started to emerge! Bouncing excitedly, she snaked her way back through an open one, to one that exited near the bottom. This was a fun game! Her ears began to twitch as the sound of heavy footfalls drew near to the mischievous duo, and a large shadow fell near the side of the house. Big monster thing! Cailly gave a squeak and burrowed her way back into the woodpile, the sap covered fur pulling a little painfully as she did so. Hopefully shrill-one would give her a bath once she came to get her. Trent the Woodsman whistled a jaunty tune as he carried some fresh fired wood round back. With fall coming, winter was not far behind. Had to make sure there was enough to keep every one warm this year. He chuckled to himself, knowing that this towns old bone population would definitely keep him busy. As he stepped around to the woodpile, his foot fell in some odd slime. Not expecting the sudden slippery change, he lost balance and crashed to the ground, logs falling everywhere about him. "What the...what is this?" he grumbled, lifting himself to a sitting position. Looking around, he noted the slime trail leading right to his wood supply. "What the devil's goin' on around here...?" Getting up carefully, he walked over to the wood pile to inspect it. He would have to do so quickly, as the sunlight was just about to fade. ------------------------------------------------ "Okay...here big guy..follow dinner," Leira said, half kicking herself at that remark. She could've been referring to herself for all she knew! All she had to do was lead this thing away from the farm and town, and they should be okay. And so she began, walking slowly so as to keep the attention of the beast, offering tiny morsel by tiny morsel, deep into the forest She had to stretch it out so that way it would keep following her and not lose interest in the food she offered. She managed to keep it up for quite some time, the sky turning orange by the time she had gotten down to the last piece. Looking around, she nodded to herself in some kind of internal agreement. The place was far enough away that it could easily find prey to eat, and not have to go back toward the town. Holding up the last piece of boar, she made sure the things eyes were on it, before tossing it further into the woods. Now all she would have to do was hurry back before it thought to eat her!

Evening of Day Three Lonnie stepped into the farmhouse just as the sun's light faded from view. It had been a busy day, he'd finally been able to milk the cow, got some eggs for Beety to make some of her famous cakes (and a few for breakfast), and made sure there wasn't any more damage to his wheat crops. He even ventured into the town for a bit...just because. Well, mainly to inquire about how the healers herbs were going, and to offer any assistance he could. Any. Assistance. As usual, he was turned down by the calm mannered young lady, with her saying that she has full confidence in her abilities. He sighed at the memory, wishing she would let him just spend a little, or any, time with her. Looking up, he felt something a bit off about the house, walking around the small number of rooms, venturing down into the cellar, and stopped back at the main entrance. His sister wasn't home. Odd, but not terribly uncommon. She might have been tracking something far into the forest today, or dragging home something heavy. Whatever it was, he was sure she had her reasons for it. Placing his hat on the small table, he absently began gnawing on a piece of dried fowl that had been prepared earlier and a small bun, taking a sip from the water barrel. Then with a yawn, he, and the other townsfolk save Otis, prepared to settle down for the night.

Whispering Minstrel Mister Monster Guy "Okay...here big guy..follow dinner," Leira said, half kicking herself at that remark. She could've been referring to herself for all she knew! GalemniusIt chased off after the last piece of meat. as it was busy with it's salt cured feast it failed to notice the two-leg thing making a hasty exit from the scene. After it was done gorging itself, it noticed it was now alone. It sat for a moment with it's thoughts. << Leg-thing gone... Back to square thing?... Foods+Square thing=Tastier foods... NEW OBJECTIVE: Bring foods to square thingy for better foods...!>> With a sense of renewed purpose, the Galemnius started to look for a suitable offering to give to the square thingy. After some not so subtle tracking through the woods, the Galemn had picked up a scent: Elk, in a thicket and asleep. << Old four-leg sleep.... good meat four-leg...>> Scrunching up on its hind legs it charged blindly into the four-leg nest. The elk had only a moment to stir before a heavy claw made it still again. As it drug its prize through the forest, the carcass was tempting, but the noble(?) Lizard soldiered forth to the cabin of the Huntress. << Four-leg heavy, good for square-place, yes?>> When it got there, it dropped the elk carcass against the lodge door with a heavy thunk. Then it's tail began to wag as it waited for the door to open and magical food to appear... << Where two-leggy?>>

It had all gone smoothly, the beast did not see her slip away into the darkness of the forest, too intent on devouring the flung piece of meat. Hurrying back the way she came, carefully avoiding roots and fallen trees so as not to add any more injuries for the day, she arrived within the area of habit within an hour of sprinting on and off, checking periodically behind her to see if the thing was following her. The moon shone clear above the treeline, lighting her way home. Tired and out of breath from running, she quietly slipped onto the front porch, trying not to step on any creaky boards, and made her way inside the house, locking the door with the heavy bolt. Catching her breath, she quickly ate a small bite of bread and prepared herself for bed, laying tentatively on the thin straw mattress. She would have to see Yvenne in the morning about the wrist. She frowned down at it, irritated by the swelling and discomfort. But most of all irritated at her sudden inability to hunt big-game for a while. They would have to rely on trappings until it healed, and that might pose a problem for supplies later on. But...that would have to be dealt with later. Right now she needed to sleep. She can discuss things with Lonnie in the morning. Closing her eyes, she drifted in to blissful oblivion. THUMPHer eyes flew open, expression of abject horror. Lonnie shot up in his bed, rubbing bleary eyes with a "Wuzzat?" It didn't...it couldn't! Throwing the blanket off of her, she rushed to the front door, the source of the noise. Flinging the door open, she was greeted by the sight of a large dead elk laying across the entrance...and the thumping tail of the creature from earlier. "Oh you have got to be kidding me," the Huntress groaned, placing her face in her non-injured hand. Lonnie came up to the door and gave a start that the scene before him. "Uh...sis...is there something you want to tell me?" he said flatly, staring at the elk, and then back at the creature. "Yeah...we have a slight problem," she replied, heading around to the back to go and collect her tools. The Farmer just watched the thing, its rudder-like tail pounding the earth in anticipation. "Were you the one scaring my cow?" he asked it, not really expecting an answer. Rubbing the back of his head, he turned to look in the direction his sister had gone in, "Whewie...slight is not the word for this."
