The tall woman went down, all right… but so did he. Lichenite gasped in pain as she twisted his wrist, forcing him to drop his grasp on both her head and his plushie weapon as he was dragged toward the ground. His downward motion was stopped, however, by a knee to his gut, the leg and foot that followed it coming perilously close to his crotch. He yelped loudly as he flew a** over teakettle over the senshi, landing hard on his back.
Scrambling quickly to his feet, bracing with his hands on the ground, Lichenite snarled at her. "Nice move, honey, but I got a few moves of my own!" He ran at the senshi like a linebacker, aiming to leap on top of her and pound the s**t out of her. It was a move he'd perfected, and it rarely failed. Of course, there was a first time for everything.
Puck nearly fell forward from his own momentum when suddenly the captain whose lights he was trying to punch out wasn't where he expected him to be. Bouncing off the wall of the alley, he whipped his head around, dreadlocks flying, in an attempt to locate him, finally spotting him a couple of feet away. How the hell?... Then he remembered that these guys had magic too. This one must be able to teleport. That was almost like cheating!
With a growl, Puck spun to face the captain and lunged at him again. This time, though, he was doing his best imitation of a rugby player. It had worked on that other captain, after all, the one with the youma in that first fight at Juno's side. He was going to nail this b*****d in the gut if it took all night.

Without being able to teleport out of the way, and quite literally freaking out about what to do minus that option, the next lunge at Senseite landed easily, the agent stumbling backwards until his back hit wall. A hand went towards his stomach, which was screaming with pain, the other hand held defensively in front of him as the menshi pounded on him. And for a moment he simply took the hits, grunting and huffing as pain exploded at the site of each punch.
Thankfully though, after a few seconds and the taste of blood in his mouth, self preservation finally kicked in clearing the agent's head. The hand still holding his weapon jutted out, attempting to hit Puck in the face with the side or palm of his hand and try and push him away.
The feeling of the starseed in his pocket gave him an idea, and his lower hand jutted forward suddenly trying to reach through the senshi. His aim was terrible though with the first attempt and he withdrew his hand before trying again.
Upon successfully throwing her opponent Juno took a moment to try and pick herself up off the ground, rolling from her back to her knees before beginning to push herself up. It might have been off putting or strange that she actually laughed at Lichenite's snarl, but she couldn't help herself. If anything, even despite the pain, Juno looked downright delighted. It had been far too long.
Perhaps it was that rustiness that slowed her usual agility or maybe it was just that Lichenite's perfected strategy was that good. Though she tried to get out of the way the senshi of the canopy found herself crushed by the weight and force of the lieutenant.
Pinned she wriggled, dodging and deflecting the blows as best she could, grimacing as fists hit her forearms, shoulders, and chest. But finally, as he drew back for another punch pushed her knees against his chest and then caught his neck between her thighs, knees wrapping behind his neck before applying as much pressure as she could.
Lichenite grinned as he pounded on the senshi, even though she was evading and deflecting his blows pretty effectively. He was still having fun -- beating up a senshi was his idea of a good time, after all. And he was landing a few where he intended to despite her best efforts. Nevermind that the energy ball in his pocket, delicate as it was, had long since dissipated. For the moment he didn't give a s**t about meeting quota.
Then the woman somehow wormed her legs loose and planted her knees against his chest. Before he could react, she had wrapped her legs around his neck and was squeezing with a force he'd never felt before. Normally this would be an excellent place to be, between the thighs of a hot chick, but not when the chick in question was trying to strangle him. "Urk," he managed, ceasing his punching and attempting to free himself.
Puck was having fun with his opponent as well, happily punching the crap out of the Captain. Suddenly the Negaverse agent's hand shot out and the metal baton in it clocked Puck upside the head. Not hard enough to knock him out, but enough to ring his bell and interrupt his pounding. He eased up just enough for the Captain to free his other hand…
...And plunge it into Puck's chest.
The senshi had never felt anything so horrifying or painful in his life. Faust had said that he was supposed to protect his starseed by whatever means necessary, because Negaverse agents could rip them out of your body. He'd seen a small glowing jewel in the hand of the Captain before they had leapt down to take them on. Had that been the starseed of the woman who now lay limp on the ground nearby?
When the Captain withdrew his hand to try again, Puck reacted instinctively, shoving the man against the wall and leaping back. He wasn't about to let the man near his chest again. "You b*****d," he growled before charging him again, ready to do some serious violence.

The sudden distance between them was welcomed, though the force of his back hitting the wall was less so. His body ached from the flurry of blows that had be inflicted on him, why was he still here, this wasn't supposed to be happening to him.
And suddenly the senshi was charging him again, somehow even more pissed than before. He could only imagine the damage he would do now. Senseite's hand fumbled for his pocket, withdrawing the starseed. Maybe the burst of energy would be enough to allow him to overpower the senshi. Teleport to Lichenite and then get them the hell out of here. He just needed to be fast enough.
"I cannot hear you. Where are strong words now honey?" Her shoulders were being ground into the pavement, his fingers gripping and digging as best they could into her muscular legs in his efforts to escape, but she just continued to squeeze. Juno didn't care, she could barely feel the throb of pain that remained on her cheek well after his well placed punch, nor the poking prod of strong fingers that would surely leave bruises the next day. She was surprised and delighted by the effectiveness of the move she'd stumbled upon and her gaze turned towards Puck and his opponent, intent on boasting until she saw the glint of something familiar in the captain's hand.
"Do not let him eat!!!" She yelled out suddenly, concern apparent in her tone, not noticing the fact that in her attention to the captain her grip on the lieutenant had loosened.
Lichenite was beginning to see spots and darkness before his eyes when the senshi's grip with her thighs loosened around his neck. With a final tug at her legs, the lieutenant's head popped free from her grasp and he fell backwards onto his butt on the pavement. He sat there for a few moments, gasping and coughing and clutching at his throat, until the oxygen returned to his brain. "s**t," he rasped hoarsely. b***h meant business.
He looked over where the senshi was looking and saw Senseite with the starseed he'd yanked from that woman's chest. If he ate that, he'd be able to get them out of here and away from the two aggressive senshi. "Eat it!!! Eat it!!!" he shouted encouragingly, his attention completely off the green-haired woman on the ground in front of him.
Hearing Juno's shouted warning, Puck spotted the shimmering starseed in the Captain's hand. "Oh no you don't!" he shouted, grappling with the man as he struggled to get the starseed away from him. If they could only get it back into the woman somehow, maybe she might wake up. If it wasn't already too late…
Puck twisted the Captain's wrist hard and in an unnatural way in an attempt to force him to release the precious jewel of energy. As he grasped the man's wrist, he lunged forward and rammed his forehead into the Negaverse agent's head as hard as he could, in the hopes of disorienting him or even knocking him out cold. It was his patented headbutt move, and it rarely failed to have an effect.

He hadn't expected any interuption in his attempts, so it startled him when the girl yelled and all of the sudden the menshi's hand was on him, grappling and trying to grab at his prize. Senseite really wanted that boost and he didn't plan to give it up easy.
His teeth gritted as his wrist turned and twisted a hiss escaping him as he worried that the senshi was going to break something. He didn't even notice the quick motion of the headbutt until the world exploded in pain and his eyes rolled back into darkness. Body going limp the starseed fell from his hand.
While her opponent gasped for air and clarity Juno was making her way back up to her feet, her eyes still however caught on Puck and the starseed. She was less concerned with the return of the starseed, sure if they could it would great, but more so with the knowledge of how difficult it could be to already be fatigued in battle just to have your opponent suddenly back to their pre fight strength and stamina.
When Lichenite piped up she turned to him with annoyance. "Hey. Shut up!" Juno growled as the man she was fighting voiced his encouragement, an unhappy grimace touching her face and with one quick movement she pivoted, kicking him hard across his chest and shoulders, inadvertly sending him flying a little closer to the other two men.
Whether he was just dazed or actually out for a few seconds Senseite was uncertain. All he knew was intense pain, the taste of blood in his mouth, and a foggy dizziness. His eyes focused on the starseed as he watched it fall towards the pavement. He didn't care if it cracked and if he lost it anymore. The loss of all their energy gathered would be looked over if he could get himself and Lichenite out of here. Especially if they could take out one of their opponents.
His weapon appeared in his hand once more, left hand settling over the right hand and with both hands and all the strength he could muster Senseite swung downwards aiming straight at the head of the menshi who seemed focused on going after the falling starseed.
Her lips pressed together in momentary satisfaction as the man flew, her eyes on him as he hit the pavement semi near Puck and Senseite. The expression was quick to fade however when she say the captain make his move and the world suddenly seemed to be moving in slow motion.
"Dense Foliage!" The words slipped from her mouth out of instinct. Words she'd have swore she forgot long ago. And as energy began to glitter around Puck it became apparent. It had never been about her not being able to use the power in the past years. It had just been that there was no one worth using it on.

Dense Foliage Pressing her palms together Juno leaches energy from her teammates (it takes a bit of their endurance, enough to make them a little tired or winded, but not enough to cripple them unless already fatigued). A stream of glittering energy travels from her to her ally(ies) and a shield of dense branches, vines, and leaves appears around them (like a half dome). The shield is slightly stronger then before and can withstand a few attacks (unless firebased or higher leveled magic) ~ Shield only shields allies, not her (steals their energy to protect them)
If you want to have Lichenite grab the starseed Senseite can try and get them out of there in the next post!
Lichenite landed in a crumpled heap against the wall of the alley. He still wasn't fully recovered from the throttling he'd endured at the hands (or rather thighs) of the senshi, and her foot connecting with his chest certainly didn't help, knocking the wind out of him.
Slowly the lieutenant sat up, holding his head in one hand as he tried to catch his breath. Then he realized he was closer to Senseite than he had been before the b***h had punted him. He saw the struggle for the starseed and saw it fall from Senseite's hand. Moving to his hands and knees he quickly crawled into the fray, and grabbed the jewel as he shoved at the male senshi in an attempt to get him away from his and his Captain's prize.
The headbutt was really effective, Puck observed with pride, the Captain left reeling and bloody from the blow. He was sure he was bleeding too, but he didn't care. His only focus was grabbing the starseed away from the Negaverse officer. Reaching down, he very nearly had it when from out of nowhere another black-clad arm appeared and snatched it away. "Oi!" he yelled angrily, smacking at the arm with his fist. He was so focused on getting at the starseed he didn't notice the Captain brandishing his weapon.
Then suddenly he was surrounded by a canopy of branches and leaves and vines. What was going on? He felt strangely fatigued, too, and dropped to his knees, hands on the pavement. The fight hadn't been that strenuous -- he could think of no reason to be this tired. He had to stop the two Negaverse agents, but he couldn't because of the canopy...
Canopy. Senshi of the Canopy… Was this Juno's magic?
The sound of a blow hitting the branches above his head startled him into awareness again. He remembered that the Captain had that baton-staff thing -- that meant he was probably hitting the protective canopy with it. That also meant that if the canopy hadn't been there, he'd have gotten the full brunt of that blow on his head. That got his adrenaline flowing again. "Juno!" he shouted. "The other one has the starseed!"

Senseite was startled as his baton hit the sudden wall of branches and greenery, his arms ached from the sudden stop to all the force he'd been trying to put into the blow. In frusteration he hit the wall again a second time but despite the sound of leaves shivering and rustling it stood firm.
He'd been about to scream in anger and frusteration when Puck's words caught his attention and he looked to see Lichenite not only within reach but also with the starseed in hand.
"Good job lieutenant." It was perhaps the least sarcastic and most mentor-like thing he'd even said to Lichenite, and in a swift motion Senseite leaned, grasping the shoulder of his companion before using all the energy he had to teleport the two of them out of there. He'd probably dehenshin as soon as they arrived, maybe even pass out, but it didn't matter. The two would live to fight another day and had a small prize to put towards their quota.
She was afraid it wouldn't appear quick enough or be powerful enough. But the appearance and intertwining of vines and branches was almost instantaneous, and as she heard the rattle of the baton hitting branches instead of bone and flesh Juno breathed, the world once again speeding up.
As Puck called to her she tried to make her way over, but between the distance and the sudden wall of foliage she couldn't make it in time. The Amazonian could only watch as the two suddenly disappeared, taking their prize along with them. The frown on her face as she skidded to a stop was so tight that it actually hurt her cheeks.
Taking the last few steps towards her friend and the magical barrier, she inspected it curiously, almost barely believing it was there. "Are you alright?"
After a moment's hesitation she added, "I am sorry. Is because of me you could not get back crystal..."

It really is such a weird/crap power but the ecology/biology major in me couldn't resist. XD Since the canopy protects the understory and everything, but at the cost of sucking up/stealing all the water and nutrients in the soil. *dork*
"I'm fine." Still on his knees on the ground, Puck reached up with one hand and worked his fingers through the dense protective canopy. All thoughts of the starseed had left his mind. "Juno. You saved my life. That b*****d would have bashed my head in."
This had been his first real fight with the enemy, and it left him sobered. Until now, he had thought of this senshi thing as hunting youma and patrolling and not finding anything. He'd been excited for the battle; now he thought of it as a duty. The Negaverse were no joke; they were more than capable of killing, and more than willing to do so. The residual pain in his chest from where the Captain had tried to grab and remove his starseed was a testament to that. As was the body of the woman whose starseed they had successfully won.
The blond senshi sighed deeply. And Juno… she had used her magic and saved him. That meant more to him than anything. He still felt weary, and he wondered if that was a side effect of nearly having his starseed jacked, or if something else was going on. Regardless, she had prevented him from being killed. He owed her his life.
"Are you alright?" he finally asked. He had glimpsed her on her back on the ground fighting that lieutenant. He was more concerned about the state of her wounds, still healing from the youma attack. "How does your back feel?"

I think it's an awesome interpretation of canopies heart

"Is what partners are for." She replied nonchalantly. Though she was not nearly so calm as her statement. Her heart was still racing from seeing him danger. The opponents they had faced were capable and tough and Puck had been up against the captain. While rank didn't always mean everything it still meant something. She was glad she had been there to help and she knew quite well he would have done the same if the tables had been turned.
"Besides, I would have had to go back to patrolling alone. And that is boring." She teased softly, a vain attempt to try and run that unhappy expression off of his face following the heavy sigh that escaped him.
The question about how she was feeling was met with a thoughtful expression, Juno looking down as if to try and access the answer. Adreneline was still running through her body dulling the aches and pains that would likely come in with full force shortly. But for now it was not pain she felt, rather euphoria. She was finally back out on the beat. They'd actually won their battle. And most importantly, Puck and her had made it out mostly unscathed (physically at least).
"I am fine." The Amazon answered finally, stepping over as she offered a hand down to help him up. "Some scraps and little cuts, I am sure some bruises will come to. But I am fine. Nothing broken and back feels okay."
"You did good you know." She added lightly after a moment, soft smile on her face.
The canopy had faded away, leaving Puck crouching on the pavement. He still felt a little weak and weird, but he attributed that to the adrenaline wearing off, so he didn't try to push himself. "Yeah, patrolling alone is quite boring," he grinned up at her, catching her teasing remark. Thinking about the other stuff could wait until he was feeling better.
Wiping a bit of blood from his nose, he accepted the hand up from her. He was sure he'd be finding more cuts and bruises tomorrow. "Thank you." Rising to his feet, he continued to hold her hand. "You did good too." Though of course she was a much more experienced senshi than he was, so of course she'd do better. But she was coming off a period of enforced rest and some serious injuries.
He looked around. "So they got away. We still gave them a proper arse-kicking." Noticing the two civilians lying on the pavement, his expression turned serious. "Um, I think maybe we should get out of here before somebody comes along and finds them…"

His grin was a welcome sign and when he was finally on his feet, and returning the compliment, she couldn't help but give a small little laugh before she winked, and flexed her free arm. "I know, is because I am an Amazon. Very tough."
She enjoyed the brief moment of levity before seriousness returned following his gaze to the couple - one who would awaken eventually and one who would not. "Yeah lets go."
A soft tug of the hand still held in her set the motion, her strength more than enough to pull them back up to the rooftops once more. Glancing out at the skyline she paused before turning back to him. "Would you like to come back to my place? I can play nurse for you this time." Another playful wink accompanied the secondary statement.
"Or would you rather just go home?" She wouldn't begrudge him if that was his choice, it'd been a fairly heavy evening.
"You're very tough indeed," Puck winked back. Not everyone would have been able to come back from the kind of gruesome injury Juno had sustained like she had. He playfully touched her flexed bicep. "So very strong."
He allowed himself to be pulled with that strength up to the rooftops; he was still too drained from whatever it had been to make the leap himself. Once there, he slipped his arm around her waist as she made her offer of playing nursemaid to him for a change. "Yeah, you know, that sounds really wonderful, going back to your place" he smiled back. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I reckon that fight took more out of me than I thought it would." He wiped his nose, noting the faint trail of blood it left on his hand. The fight really seemed to drain him; it could have been the adrenaline draining out of his system. Or it could have been the other things on his mind, how close he had come to death.
"Yeah," he agreed again. "Let's go to your place."

Absolutely! Maybe another post to wrap it?

The feeling of his arm slipping around her waist was pleasant. The warmth, the weight of his presence. It was when he mentioned his fatigue though that a knowing smile crossed her face, her own arm sliding around his shoulders. "Mmm... that may be some of my fault too." Her free fingers brushing mildly through his dreadlocked hair. "Sometimes my shield will make you tired." A quick kiss pressed against his forehead, a small apology before her eyes glanced back out into the night and in the direction that she knew her apartment lie.
"But this is okay. I will just take you home and clean you up."
Sly smirk touching her face she mused aloud, things that he probably figured out without her even saying. "And then you can tell me where it hurts and I will make all better."
"Can be gentle if need be." Juno teased before finally motioning off more seriously. She'd have enough strength to carry them both off, but she respected him enough to know that he'd probably prefer she didn't sweep him up like a damsel in her arms. He'd probably get a bit of a second wind along the way anyway, but in the meantime she could support him a little as they traversed the rooftops towards her apartment. It was only fair after all - partners supported each other and beyond that Juno was just thrilled for his warmth beside her.

Yep, this can be a wrap unless you want to toss in a close post yourself. <3
