Strength born from remembering what there was left to protect was a stark contrast to her own views, which aimed at eradicating the things that held her back. Then again, many of the things she had wished to protect had already, unfortunately, been lost. The vision of a face encased in crystal flashed through her mind and her eyes shut against the world around her, as if she could stave off her own thoughts with such a simple diversion.
Hver's silent question had not been missed.
"Who knows what is best for a creature the world has never seen before? Even I'm surprised, sometimes." A laugh escaped her then, soft and disbelieving, like someone unpleasantly surprised. As she forced herself to banish whatever thoughts Hver had conjured up for her, her eyes opened and she offered the Knight one last, polite smile.
"Thank you for the chat, little duckling."
As the words died on the night air, she disappeared with a snap, as if her very being had been ripped out of space and time with force. A residue of chaos energy lingered behind her, a smudge on reality itself, before it faded like thin tendrils of smoke into the atmosphere. What was already lost could not be regained.
