One of his favorite songs? Rob blinked stupidly, then stopped his noodling on the guitar and sat there for a moment to think about it. He had a LOT of favorites, both songs he'd written and traditional British folk songs, as well as some Celtic rock songs. Those latter were mainly part of his busking repertoire, though, and he'd likely be playing those for her later. For her current request, he thought maybe he should play her one of the songs he'd written for Torgo, his temporarily-on-hold punk band. But which one? He was a rather prolific songwriter, or had been before he moved to Destiny City and all this senshi stuff happened.

"Alright," he nodded at last, having finally picked a song. Taking a deep breath, he started playing a driving chord progression that had his fingers dancing over the fretboard of the guitar. He kept his voice fairly low when he started singing so he wouldn't disturb the neighbors, but one could still sense the passion in his words. He sang about the primeval forests, the majesty of the trees, how they had been here long before humans and would be here long after humans were gone. He'd written this song after visiting his homeworld, after that first trip where he thought he was lost but somehow knew his way. The song was about beauty and hope and survival and the power of nature.

He finished the song with a flourish, letting the final chord ring through the apartment before bringing his hand down to still the strings. Looking up at Aitana, he grinned. "That was one of mine. What did you think? I hope you liked it."

The problem with playing a musician like Rob is that I have to write all his music as well as the tags. XD

She waited patiently, not attempting to rush his choice as her hands came to settle within her crossed legs. The request wasn't necessarily an easy one, especially for someone that was much more connected to music. But when he finally seemed ready she watched him intently her eyes at first on the guitar.

She wasn't sure what she'd been expecting but it most certainly wasn't what she got.

It hadn't taken long into the song for her eyes to leave the guitar and focus more on him, transfixed by his voice. The depth of the lyrics, the obvious passion behind them, she could feel them in her chest along with the actual physical vibrations of the guitar's melody. It was beautiful and at some point her eyes had closed to simply take it all in, opening once more near the end to watch his fingers dance across the strings with a flourish before bringing the song to an end.

She'd been silent the whole time, only responding finally after he spoke, a wide smile crossing her face. "Was fantástico! You really wrote yourself?" On one hand she believed it, the amount of passion behind it made it seem very personal, but at the same time...

"You are very talented!" She was legitimately gushing. "The music was amazing and the words they were..." Not able to find a word to describe what she wanted to she simply clasped her hands to her chest.

She'd heard him playfully mess with instruments before. But actually hearing him sing and singing it all together at once. Perhaps she was a little partial but she thought he was pretty damn amazing and it was an expression very clearly read across her face.

Oh I totally understand XD Feel free to be very vague with me if you like, I don't mind. Or even just toss me some links if he's going to play non-original songs. heart

I'm still debating what song she's going to sing for him later because fufufu she needs to punishreward him. ninja

"Thank you." Rob returned Aitana's delighted smile and nodded. "Yeah, I wrote that. Fairly recently too. I have to say I'm rather pleased with how it came out." He thumped a hand on the body of the guitar. "I never know exactly how a song's going to evolve as I'm writing it -- they change sometimes and become something different than what I initially started working on. But this one… I had a specific image in my head that I wanted to convey." He grinned proudly. "By your expression, I nailed it."

He idly strummed some chords as he watched her face. She was genuinely blown away by his music. "I'm really happy you liked it," he beamed. "Would you like me to play you something else?"

"Is very good." She reiterated as he expressed his own pleasure with it. He had every reason to be proud of himself in her opinion. It had sounded great and she did not know how it was even possible to create something like that. The words.. the muscial arrangement. Aitana wouldn't even know where to start in that regard, far more like a dumb jock then the sensitive artist. Though she could understand things changing on the fly and having to deal with that.

When he asked if she'd like to hear more she laughed. "Of course. I thought I was promised day of music."

Narrowing her eyes playfully, she teased. "You would not be such tease would you? If you are not playing then I guess I will not be resting and relaxing." That was the deal after all. And after how much she liked the first song Aitana wasn't going to just let him out of it.

tatterpixie
Maybe he can play a couple more songs - and then she'll offer to sing him something. And then at that point I'll have her actually lay down to listen (and he can play as much or as little after that as you like.) ???

Laughing at her laughter, Rob nodded. "Yes, yes you were. I promised you a day of music. And I plan to deliver." His expression narrowed into a teasing grin. "I can't have you not resting and relaxing. How will you heal then?" The implications were such that the faster she healed, the faster they could do… other things.

He strummed a few more chords as he thought about what to play for her next. Deciding on something traditional, he began to play a little more aggressively, then paused. "Right, this is a British folk song called King Henry. It's kind of about one of our kings. Named Henry. Though we've had rather a few of that name, so I can't say which one in particular." With a grin and a wink at his joke, he began to sing. It was a longish song, the lyrics telling the story of a supernatural encounter and a grisly feast and the breaking of a curse. He hit the middle section where the ghost starts demanding things and started singing dramatically, complete with broad gestures that he hoped would get her into it.

When he finished, after King Henry had woken up next to the beautiful girl instead of the hideous ghost, he grinned at Aitana. "I hope you liked that one. Perhaps a bit too lively for someone who's supposed to be resting and healing, but I like it. It's a fun song."

That sounds like a plan to me ^___^

"Sim.." She agreed with a nod of her head, still giving him a playful 'I dare you to try and get out of it' glance. Though that glance shifted into a more amused smirk as he teased her about healing. "Must get my fill of musical medicine before I am healed enough for other kinds."

While he thought of what to play she mused silently about a song that had popped to her mind, something she'd heard a handful of times while one of the classic rock stations was blaring at working. The words were a little fast for her to understand entirely but it had never matter, the guitar by far champion of the song, always making her swing her hips even while teetering on high rafters. Well and of course the hook. Dr. Feelgood. It took a lot of restraint not to giggle - the thought pushed away for a later time. She wondered if he would be amused if she teased him with such a name after playing doctor for the past couple days.

As he began to explain his song choice she perked up, listening thoughtfully. So much story telling! She was far used to more.. silly songs, vapid stuff that passed off as modern music as was played from every car she walked by.

He need not worry about her getting into it. She had to try very hard not to instinctively sway and move with the music, though her shoulders did shift and rock a little even despite her efforts.

When he finished her hands lifted to give him an appreciatory and amused round of clapping. "It is fun yes! Do all of.. busking songs you do tell stories?" She asked curiously.

And then with a grin and a playful gesture with her hand. "And do you usually busk with no shirt? Make good tips I should think." She liked watching the subtle shift of muscle while he played the guitar, but when he'd really gotten into it and started gesturing, well there had been an appreciatory glance or three.

tatterpixie
Sim just means - yes, of course, absolutely. I figured her tone in saying it and motions afterwards would get the point across ICly but I know you can't hear tone. ;3

"Most of them do," Rob acknowledged, hands quiet on his guitar. "They're very old songs, hundreds of years old, and back in those days music was a way to transmit information and news as well as just a form of entertainment. So yeah, most of the songs I sing when I'm busking are the types that tell stories." He chuckled, thinking aloud. "In a way I suppose I'm carrying on the tradition of the bards of history. Only I'm doing it with a bit of punk flavor."

At Aitana's next remark, his face reddened ever so slightly as he looked down at his naked torso. "No, I'm usually wearing something more than just me trousers," he said with a wry grin. Putting the guitar down, he idly ran a hand over his abdomen. "I don't know about the bigger tips though."

He looked up at her and smiled as he admired her. Here she was, mostly naked with bandages over those terrible gashes on her back, and not thinking a thing of it in front of him. She was something special, and he couldn't wait for her wounds to heal so they could pick up where they had left off, patrolling and frolicking with each other.

Speaking of healing, he was supposed to be singing her songs to help her heal, wasn't he? He thought for a moment. "Alright, here's another one, Rosebud in June. It's more of a traditional festival song." He didn't pick up his guitar, though, just closed his eyes and started singing. His voice rang clear through the tiny apartment as he sang about sheep-shearing and laying with one's lover in the grass. When he was done, he opened his eyes and met her gaze, trying to read her expression and her reaction to the song.

Ready for Aitana's song! heart

She'd of course heard songs in her past that told stories. Lullabies and festival songs. Surely there were some Brazilian songs that must have been like the ones he knew.. that told stories from years and years ago. But she really didn't know that many of them. Really the whole 'folk' thing was brand new to her, but she liked it. It was interesting and new. It felt kind of like when Rob had been sharing stuff about himself specifically - but on a larger scale.

Actually he was sharing something about himself too, wanting to carry on a tradition. And that was kind of neat itself, and also made sense why he'd scoffed originally when she teased him about the reason he'd created his band.

The reddening of his face drew an amused look to her face, and as he questioned his own looks she mused, reaching far enough to poke him lightly. "You are much cuter than you think. Charming." She made a motion like she was going to pinch at his cheek but didn't, settling back down on the bed as he prepared for the next song.

This one was a little slower then the musical she generally liked. But the story behind it made it interesting and then of course there was his voice. It was nice with accompaniment, but without it when it was showcased on it's own... It was really wonderful. Smooth and melodic, his accent perfecting the particular words he was singing.

When he finished this time he received no clapping, just a very deep and satisfied sigh. And of course the look on her face - full of admiration.

She was silent for a moment, nothing more than a simple pleased hum escaping her, before her eyes widened a little excitedly.

"Oh, I will sing for you too!" She insisted, not giving him much of a choice as she gazed upwards trying to make a selection. Her brain flipped through all the American songs, and partial songs she knew. They were mostly silly though compared to what he had been singing. Songs about hook ups, loneliness, or partying. The obligatory love song. There were some that were more about things like revolution - and she liked those ones but she knew too few of the words. In fact after a long moment her brows furrowed, until finally she settled on something.

Sure it was still entirely vapid. The song was about nothing more than dancing. But... a lot of Brazil was about dancing and passion. And besides it seemed fitting she should sing something from her home if he had sang from his.

"Okay then." Posture straightening, she took a deep breath before beginning to slowly sway to music that only she could hear.

Like her regular speech Aitana's singing voice was fairly husky, definiately more of an alto than a soprano. The Portuguese that passed through her lips was sung with a comfort far more than if it been English and the song was fairly short. Her singing was average at best, not unpleasant, but certainly nothing at all special. But there was enthusiasm despite the lack of talent. Enthusiasm that extended to her body, her shoulders and hips swaying the best she could from a seated position.

By the time she was done her arms had lifted above her head as she twisted her back a bit, not thinking, ending the song with a tiny gasp of pain and a bit of a laugh. She didn't seem worried about the pain though instead lifting a hand to hide her sheepish grin. Aitana was well aware she was nowhere near his league when it came to singing, not even close, but it hadn't dampened her mood.

"I am better at dancing then at singing." She mused apologetically. "I show you sometime later."

"I think you will like, latin dances are much like sex. Sultry and beautiful."

Mas Que Nada

I was originally going to have her sing something in english but this seemed more fitting. I'm sure she'll treat him to something in English eventually.

And now Rob can force her to lay down and quit overexerting herself. >[

"Alright, sure," Rob nodded when Aitana offered to sing him a song. "I'd love to hear you sing." Talk about turning the tables -- here he was supposed to be the one serenading her while she rested. He figured maybe she was inspired by his singing, and he felt a bit flattered by her reciprocating with a song of her own. Resettling himself into a cross-legged position, he watched her stare at the ceiling, clearly contemplating which song to sing.

When she finally started singing in her warm alto, he listened with rapt attention. He'd heard her utter smatterings of Portuguese before, of course, but he couldn't remember hearing her say complete phrases in the language that weren't curses. It sounded beautiful. He watched her sing and sway to the song, lost in the music, and he started to move as well, nodding his head in time to her singing. He was no dancer, but she looked so happy and into it that he couldn't help himself. He was enjoying her singing, and the song, and her moving to the rhythm.

It was only when the song ended, when she made a tiny noise of pain, that the mood was broken. He leaned forward quickly to touch her knee, concern evident on his face. Clearly she was okay, though, because she laughed a little and gave him a sheepish grin. That made him relax, though he kept his hand on her knee. "I think you sing very well, actually," he smiled at her. "I really liked that song. It was very… full of life. I can absolutely see you dancing to it."

Moving closer to her, he touched her face. "I'd really like to see you dance. Like, a lot. When you're better, though." His expression turned slightly scolding, his smile wry. "You need to rest, love, so you can get better. So you can dance."

I love that song! ^___^

She luckily hadn't done enough to mess with the bandages or even really do much damage. It'd just been enough of a tug to send a sharp twinge of pain up her spine. A subtle reminder that she was supposed to be chilling out. Rob's hand on her knee just further confirmed the realization.

"Full of life is very much Brazil." And her, but he of course knew that. "You will get to see when I take you to Mardi Gras. Is not as good, but good enough."

When he playfully scolded her she gave an overly dramatic sigh, before nodding in agreement, a grin on her face as she grabbed one of her pillows and placed it at an angle where she could still watch him.

"So bossy." She crooned as she laid down on her stomach, arms crossing under the pillow to try and get comfy. It took a moment of shifting, her long legs stretching out, one shin coming to rest brushing lightly against his leg.

"What will you play for me now?"

Aitana was full of life and passion, which was why Rob knew this had to be so horribly frustrating for her, having to remain fairly immobile so her back could heal. He could sympathize; he'd broken his arm once as a kid and had to be less active than he typically was (and he had been a pretty active child). He was actually quite excited for her to get better, and quite excited when she brought up the local Mardi Gras celebration again. She would be fully in her element then -- he couldn't wait to see that.

"Yes, I'm being bossy," he grinned back, "but it's for your own good." He watched as she lay down and made herself comfortable, one leg touching his. He had been planning on moving to the floor, but the physical contact changed his mind. This was nice, he thought, just relaxing on the bed touching each other.

At her question, he pondered for a moment. What should he play for her now? "I'm tempted to play a lullaby so you'll pass out and sleep," he teased. "But nah, I won't do that to you. Hmm." He finally decided on another of his own songs, since she seemed to like the more lively stuff. Picking up his guitar and setting it in his lap again, he began to strum fairly aggressively, then started to sing. His voice was snarly and angry, but the words he sang were about being a little kid in London -- fairly happy for a punk song.

When he was finished, he played a few idle chords, then started into another song, this one a bit more melodic but still lively. No words, though, so he didn't sing, just played the guitar. He switched between chords and single-note fretting deftly and quickly, bobbing his head and focusing on his playing, lost in his own little world of music.

We can go on a bit longer if you like or wrap this soon? heart

The face she made when he teased her about trying to lull her to sleep was entirely undignified and included a childishly stuck out tongue, before she snorted in amusement, nestling her cheek more deeply into the pillow.

She actually wouldn't be surprised, or mind terribly, if she eventually did fall asleep while he played for her. But she was pretty awake at the moment and still ready for plenty of music.

Especially when he went in with another of his own songs.

It wasn't as hard as she might have thought to relax and simply enjoy being serenaded. The songs were interesting, the stories they told both exciting and different. And just from a purely aesthetic standpoint both the guitar and Rob's voice were incredibly pleasing to listen to. Perhaps she was biased, but Aitana thought he sounded as good as anything she ever heard on the radio, especially the ones he'd written himself.

And as she listened and enjoyed she found her mind drifting softly off.

For as good as he was she didn't know why he wasn't on the radio, it wasn't for lack of talent and she highly doubted it had to do with lack of passion. But she was not sure exactly how the music industry happened either. But one day, for sure, she knew he would be famous.

The thought made her sad for the briefest of moments, a soft grief at the loss of her own chance at fame. As a young girl she used to dream of the honor and fame of being on the Brazilian national team. But that was gone and it was something she'd slowly been coming to terms with - thanks partially in fact to the young man currently serenading her, though he was likely oblivious to all the ways he had helped and touched her since they first met.

The sadness was incredibly short lived however as her thoughts turned to him instead and the idea of his fame. On the radio where everyone could enjoy and share in his creations. Being praised, adored, and held to regard for the talented and wonderful person he was. She could picture him touring, with throngs of adoring fans. On the television and in magazines. Following the traditions he'd spoken of earlier and bringing great honor to his home and past. She wondered, idly, if he would move back overseas when it finally happened. His song about growing up there a clear sign of how much he loved it. It made sense if he did decide to move back and yet...

He'd once promised he wasn't going anywhere.

But people made promises all the time... And it wasn't like he was lying even if it happened, things would have simply changed. How could she begrudge Rob of that, if he was truly and completely happy? How could she keep him tied to a silly promise he'd made if it kept him from his dreams. She most certainly couldn't.

The sadness returned again, a soft and sick twinge in her stomach at the thought of not getting to patrol and have fun with Puck again. But she'd done it alone before. She could again. And maybe she wouldn't miss him as terribly much if she knew deep down that he was happy and living the dream. If she could still hear him from a far and know he was happy and safe.

Her eyes fluttered open as the sudden connection was made. What if Small Lady was happy wherever she was..? Happy and safe? And Aitana had just been too busy being selfish and angry to ever realize it? It was too much and she pushed all the heavy thoughts away once more. For another time.

She didn't want to think about losing Rob or Puck right now. And so, with the subtle warmth of his legs barely touching her she watched him with a smile and half-lidded eyes, clearing her mind. Transfixed, mystified, pleased. She'd almost completely forgotten that she was stuck here and hadn't simply just chosen to spend the day in such peaceful bliss with her friend.

As Rob finished his song and started another one, he looked up at Aitana and was pleased to see her relaxed, her lids at half-mast over her green eyes. A few more songs and he'd have her asleep. This pleased him, both that she was doing as he'd ordered and resting, and that she felt so comfortable around him. The bandages on her back reminded him of how close he'd come to losing her -- the youma that left those horrible gashes could just as easily have killed her.

A sick feeling settled in his stomach at the thought. If she'd been killed, if he'd lost his friend…

He shook the feeling off, concentrating on the song he was playing to take his mind off such sad thoughts. And they were sad, he realized, slightly surprised. Aitana was a good friend, but there was maybe a little bit more to it than that. He wasn't sure, but he was beginning to get the suspicion that he was falling for her, just a little bit. And who wouldn't, really? She was gorgeous, she was fun and flirty, and she was a strong woman and a fighter. And an amazing lover. A bloke would have to be a fool not to fall for someone like her.

That scared him too, a little. He'd never been in love before, so he had no idea what it felt like. As far as he was concerned, love was something of an inconvenient emotion, at least the sort of love he'd seen on the telly -- that intense, blind romantic thing that had people being all stupid. He didn't want to be like that. He loved his friends, of course, and his family, but that was different. Maybe.

He realized he was just noodling now on the guitar and tried to focus back on the music. Watching Aitana, she looked like she was finally nodding off, so he softened his playing so as not to awaken her. But he kept on playing for her. He wouldn't stop for anything.

Aww, thank you! heart I have had an incredible amount of fun RPing with you and Aitana/Juno, and I hope we can continue to have fun with them! And I'm so glad I was able to help with both character development and getting her to Eternal -- you've helped a LOT getting him to Super, and with character dev for him as well. ^___^

And I think that's a wrap, unless you want to drop one more tag! <3 Thank you again for the awesome RP heart
