yes, that is true. though in all fairness, it is probably one of the worst clinics in existance, and most of them are more clean. that doesn't justify what happens in them, though.

But then, some clinics are better then others. I find my doubts as well, now that I think about it... But then again, any well known business that are set up all over the counrty, such as the abortion clinics, there are bound to be some cleaner and better then others..

Of course 99% of abortion clinics, even many in third world countries, would be better run than this particular one. I think people are getting confused with the point of this article. Its not trying to prove that abortion clinics are all horribly well-taken care of. It is trying to show something that is a well-established fact, that abortion clinics are one of the most unregulated medical clinics in the world. This is especially concerning because it is mainly a surgical procedure, yet they arent even held to the same level of scrutiny as your local family health-care provider. Little kids playing doctor are more carfuly watched.
Because reproductive rights are considered one of the most important rights to women by a large portion of the nation and media, these clinics go unwatched and the media wont touch the issue. This is the point the article is trying to make, and the point I would try to make by using it.
Neither my wife nor I would be so ignorant as to believe even a siginifigant percentage of abrortion clinics are run this poorly, we are just concerned that even one is able to do so for so long without being held to the same high standards we place on all medical establishments, or hell the same standards we place on McDonald establishments.

That's exactly the point. And it didn't make the news. I don't think anyone in here believes that all clinics are horrible, dirty places. They shouldn't, since most clinics are pretty sanitary.
But they are given a lot of wiggle-room, in this state at least they've got more room for messing up than regular doctors do.
And none of it ever makes the news. You'd think people would want to know about it. You'd think that it'd be a women's rights issue, wouldn't you? Women are being treated horribly and put at risk without even knowing it. Why isn't this a news piece? Are they afraid that people will think, "Well this means all clinics are like this!" Wow, is that fear really worth endangering the lives of people by keeping silent?
It's sickening. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of them playing Russian roulette with women's lives just to keep their precious reputation. The fact that people who are pro-choice on here don't even care enough about this one clinic, not all clinics, ONE clinic, mistreating women is sickening and it says a lot about where their compassion really lies. It's not with women. It's with themselves. They know enough not to go to a clinic like that, so why should they care that women who don't know that are being hurt? Why risk the reputation of abortion providers when no one they know would go to a clinic like that?
Some compassion.

Honostly though, it is a womans issue. If any one makes a statment about how it was just one clinic and it shouldn't be a big deal will show that they really don't care. What if some one was having a tonsalectomy (since they like comparign aboriton to getting your tonsels removed to abortion) and the same thing happaned? "It was just one instence, lets over look it." No, they would be hell-fired up and wanitng the doctor behind bars
But, since it was an abortionist, their egos and reputations have been shot at, and it was a direct hit. And now they have to cover the wound so no one will see
Woman's rights my a**!

Well said, Broorel and lymelady.
*rubs temples* *long breath* Damn. This disgusts me, guys.
I almost threw up while reading that. I felt queasy, and choked.
Men like that deserve to be circumsized with a pair of chopsticks and a toenail clipper.
What a repulsive place to get ANY procedure done. Whether it be an abortion, or just a stop by to get a prescription to pick up some medicine from Walgreens on your way home from work, I am finding myself gagging at the thought of those conditions, as well as the monster running the place.
Abortion is a poverty through my eyes; an atrocious act. But it's legal today, right now. Broorel and lymelady have excellent points. Broorel pointed out that there are some clinics out there that actually CARE for their patients. And this man is a poor excuse of that.
But lymelady also proved a good point. How long are we willing to wait to spread word about this place? Penguin Spoon is also right: There are plenty of abortion clinics out there better than this one. By ALL peoples' standards.
But why are people remaining silent? Because once people see this clinic's condition, it's going to end up just like the release of the movie JAWS. Now EVERYBODY hates sharks. Why? Because of one fictional character.
Now EVERYBODY'S gonna hate abortion. Why? Because of one filthy clinic.
Hang on to your hats, Planned Parenthood! Your "movie" is about to get released into "theatres" EVERYWHERE.

Ebony the Peacian Vampire Men like that deserve to be circumsized with a pair of chopsticks and a toenail clipper.
Agreed. It should be done in his own clinic, too. I wish it had been some other kind of clinic so that people WOULD be more cautious when going to doctors. I mean, it's like you said with the Jaws thing, people are going to be more afraid of doctors now but it can bring good things too, like making sure you know your rights as a patient. If it'd been some other type of clinic, there'd be no politics involved and it'd be reported. People would be safer. But no. Oh no. It's about abortion. Let's let politics override the safety of women and men everywhere, because hey, we don't want abortionists losing any money due to public fear.

I wouldn't go to that clinic even if I wanted an abortion. Highly unproffesional. Rusty equipment, no gloves, blood on the floor, hardly any aenasthetic (sp?) and to make matters worse, some of the women were sexualy harrassed! eek
That's just bad. I'm glad it was shut down. It was shut down right?

nuwa I just read that and its horrible. How could that just continue to go on? Because if word goes out about such a filthy clinic, people might just be a little more cautious about getting such a life-threatening procedure done, all for the sake of a government's precious abortion rights.

It's true, though. If people knew more about what they were getting into, Planned Parenthood could lose thousands of millions of dollars they make each year.
