His eyes slid down to the shadowy body and then, with a little frown, Ever noticed something in the dirt and the nubble beneath it: a single playing card, not unlike the ones he'd found on his civilian during that first cursory once-over. Slowly, he stooped to a crouch to pry it free and flipped it over, several times. A seven on one side. A message, perhaps, or a clue, he didn't have any idea, but he could add it to the rest in a bit.

Matt pulled his spear out of the clone’s shoulder before it fell to the ground. De-summoning he stuffed the rather ornate necklace into his jacket pocket before giving a grin to Pey.
“Thanks, your knife skills are pretty good too.”
He didn’t have any answer to the question of why it looked like Ever, it was likely some sort of horrible trick set up for the very reason to make another feel uneasy. For some it may have been really hard to face killing something that had their face attached to it.
“Your welcome I think.” He gave Ever a faint smile as he noticed the still scrawny frame; standing on a doctor’s standpoint it wasn’t healthy. On a hunter’s standpoint Matt wasn’t going to do anything, it wasn’t his business to unless he showed up in the infirmary. He picked up a wattle bottle that had rolled over from one of the cars, it seemed as if it was still sealed. Maybe it was ok, maybe.

Peyton plucked a playing card from beneath the body's foot, tucking it into her pocket before straightening and offering a shrug. "Maybe you were the first person it saw?" It was as good an explanation as any, she thought.
"Hmm, maybe I should check on my civie..." She frowned, folding her arms and glancing back the way she'd come from initially.

"Yeah, I definitely meant more why me and less why one of us." He huffed out a sigh as he said it, annoyed in a faint, directionless way -- mostly just with his skin still crawling. He'd seen enough Taym clones to know that they were creepy, they were trouble, and he didn't really think he wanted a whole bunch of him, broken into tidy fractured reflections of his personality, running around out there. One last look, and he stepped back to his car, opening the backseat to haul on Austin's feet and add the card to his tidy, organized little supply. With that done, he heaved the civ up onto one shoulder. "Plans, anyone? I feel like I should store him somewhere safe..."

Peyton snorted softly, eyes flicking back up to Ever before dropping to the clone again. "Just lucky, I guess." It was one of those things that had no answer. Or at least no answer that would satisfy. Her nose twitched in distaste, lip curling as she looked down at the thing, then she turned to walk away from it. Watching the Life attend to his survivor was a decent distraction, but served as a reminder that she should probably get back to her own to check on him. "I should head back to my civilian." Lips pursed, she glanced down the road in that direction. "I've got him tucked away in a secure place for the moment, but I probably shouldn't leave him for long periods of time."

Leon grunted in agreement with Ever. "Why not just secure your civ in a car, mines in the back seat, passed out. "He explained, taking a few strides to the dinged up muscle car and paced the newly acquired frying pan next to his charges unconscious form, the hunter was sure the guy would put it to good use. Hopefully not on his own noggin. "And if he wakes up, ill just have to knock him out, easier to manage that way."
His smile was wide and full of mischief with the promise of pain.

"Can I put mine with yours?" This was offered to Leon more than Peyton -- because, honestly, a car sounded better than a closet. Worst case, they could break their way out of a car, escape to freedom. Ever adjusted Austin just a bit higher.

Leon gave Ever a nod and opened the car door and re-adjusted the blonde with the frown to sit up with the frying pan in hand. "Just strap him in with the seat belt, just in case." he advised. If another thorn horse comes up and he has to do some swerving, hed like them to not get brain damage. If they woke up that is. "You'll have to ride shotgun then until we find a larger vehicle, Ever " its a honor, there are lots of people who would want that.

Just one brief pause -- and then he dropped his bundle into Leon's back seat, all buckled in and carefully propped up against the other sleeping beauty. With that done, he'd linger one more moment before climbing into the passenger's seat and hauling on his own seat belt, in a defensive, pointed kind of way. "Let's see if we can find some portals." bloodlust dante exit maybe? I'd be down for another thread at some point, too, if you wanna! Or maybe they just end up fighting the big horse now. XD
