Fifteen was his usual hit limit - but he'd hit twice on fourteen and had gone bust each time. He chewed his lip for a moment before throwing caution to the win and tapping the table. What did he have to lose? Oh, right. His life.

His gamble paid off and he was dealt a five, bringing his total to twenty. The dealer slid his coins forward and Elliot pocketed them hungrily. He was only 3 coins away from affording his freedom.

It paid off. A nine was revealed and this time Elliot did jump out of his chair. The dealer pushed the coins forward and offered him another hand - offering him double or nothing. Elliot took the coins and shook his head, stepping away from the table and onwards to freedom.
