Kilian laughed and nodded. “Yes, we’ll still stop by Valla’s. And later, I’ll make you proper sheaths for those swords, yeah? Some fit just for you. And I’ll make new ones as you grow, for as long as I’m able.” Despite it not being his intention when he brought her here, Kilian was kind of glad he got to experience her finding her weapons with her. Though he was sure Casseth and Lithian would be a tad disappointed they weren’t there to see. They would, however, be proud of her. Who wouldn’t be? He wrapped his arms around her and held her close for as long as she allowed it. When she peeked around him and over to the store owner, he smiled again.
“You can call me Atald.” He gave a small laugh and waved off her apology. “If you hadn’t touched them, you might not of found your weapons. It was an honour.” He gave a toothy grin, his wings twitching and stretching out. “I’m sure you’ll be a proud warrior one day.” Kilian thanked Atald once more before he ushered Tanarah out of the shop and down the street towards Valla’s shop.

Tanarah beamed, waving on the way out and making note of the man’s name: Atald. Whether or not the man took her seriously now, she meant her promise. She would bring honor to her blades, and when the time came, if the opportunity arose, she would see to it that word of their maker came back around. For now, however, showing them off to her grandmother came first. After Vallarah’s shop, they stopped briefly back by her grandfather’s home so that he could size the blades in order to plan the shape and dimensions of proper sheathes, as promised, and for the time, he fitted her with temporary protectors and a belt she could strap them to.
Then, came the ‘big reveal.’
Tanarah thumbed back and forth over the hilt of her blades as they approached her family home, her heartbeat quick with some combination of thrill and nervous anticipation. When they arrived at the front, Tana opened the door, peeking in without knocking. “Tala? Daddy? Papaaaa…?”

The instant Tala heard her sister’s voice she was moving. She flew down the stairs, grinning as she caught sight of her grandfather. “Grandpapa!” She threw herself into his arms as he squatted and opened them up. Hugging him tightly she flushed when he kissed her cheek. When they pulled apart.Tala glanced towards her sister, instantly noticing the new blades at her sides. Her smile turned into a small pout as she moved over towards Tana. “You got new weapons?”
Just as she finished, Casseth came in from the back deck, eyebrow raising. “A new weapon?” he asked as he glanced towards his father, arms crossed over his chest.
“Well, about that.” Kilian gave a small shrug and looked at Tana. “Would you like to explain?”

Tanarah flushed, excitement, abashment and pride all warring for a place on her cheeks as she glanced from her sister up to Papa, and then over to Daddy as he emerged, moving into place beside his mate. “Grandpapa took me out and we got sweets and then he let me go look at weapons at this one place with lots of them and they had all sorts for huge stretches of wall and racks like swords and knives and bows and staves and maces and axes and while he was talking to the man he knew there I looked and couldn’t quit looking and then I found these and—”
She drew a deep breath, and exhaled, eyeing her two fathers from beneath her lashes.
“—I’m a warrior now? This weapon…even though she comes in two parts, she’s my queen, and she’ll fight by me always. I promised the owner—he said we didn’t have to pay for her—but I promised him, I’d bring him honor with her, and I will.”

Cas’ eyebrows rose as he look from his daughter up to his father. Kilian only gave a shrug and a smile in response. “Warrior, hm?”
Before he had a chance to say anything else, Tala was already speaking. “You imprinted? That’s so cool! Bring them out, I wanna see them.”

Beaming, Tanarah happily obliged, and drew out her blades so as to show them off to her sister and watching parents. In the end, though they were — potentially — a touch disappointed not to have been a part of the selection process themselves, both of her fathers welcomed the news, and Tanarah felt giddy with her choice. True, both she and her sister had a half of their decision making yet to undertake, given the mix of their bloodline, but in Tana’s mind, they were even now: each with a weapon of their own choice. Talarah with her clan magic, lighting beating in her veins, and Tanarah with her blades.
The only great wait left now, was for the opportunity to test them.
