Talanah couldn’t help but grin as her sister hugged her. And, in a way, she felt better after having talked to her. There were always going to be people like those two girls but her sister and her were strong (as strong as a ten year old can be) and they had fathers that cared for them deeply. When Tana pulled away she blinked and watched her make her way outside. She padded after her, leaning against the railing just as the lightning struck off in the distance. Storms had always brought a kind of peace to her — strange as that might sound to others, she loved them. She especially loved how the lightning lit up the sky all bright.
When her sister brought up clan choices Tala tilted her head and glanced over to her. “Clan choice seems even harder to decide on than weapons. There’s so many more to choose from and they all have good and bad qualities to them. Every single one of them appeals to me in some way. But…” She let her words trail off as another strike of lightning showed itself. Tala smiled and turned her attention back out to the sea. “There’s just something about lightning and the way it looks and smells and feels. I think I might go kiandri.” Tala glanced back to her sister, eyebrow raised. “What about you? Do you know yet?”

Tanarah hummed, tipping her head back and savoring the push of storm winds across her cheeks and through her hair. “Ayrala, I think,” she answered. “Wild like a summer storm…” She spread her arms, “…and freee! I could fly early that way, draw the wind to me like haawhhooooooo—!” She imitated a howl, more canine than gust-like, but swallowed half by the storm breeze regardless.
At the end of it, she glanced back towards her sister, smiling.
“I could move so fast, and twist like birds do…but then…” She shrugged. “I like Papa’s element, too. So strong and steady—and heavy. I could do like mama and make my own armor with it. Bash anything and everything. Travel through the earth. Those two are my favorites, I think…ayrala and gaili.”

Tala smiled and watched the rain hit against the railing of their deck. Her sister had such wonderful ideas, sometimes, and she wished that she had as much initiative when it came to certain things. “Kiandri is my all time favorite, for sure. I did play around with the idea of peisio, though. To heal like daddy. Or even ysali. The amount of possibilities with that clan are vast. I could heal or I could poison. And people always underestimate ysali. They’re seen as weak.”
Tala shrugged and turned around, resting her elbows against the railing and glancing up towards the sky. She closed her eyes, just letting the rain fall against her face for what seemed like ages before she let a small giggle escape and said, “Daddy would be so mad if he caught us out in this.”

Tanarah gave a snort of a chuckle, and then hopped down. “Yeah, well…what Daddy doesn’t know won’t hurt him, hm?” she said, tossing her sister a smile.
They stayed out for a period longer than that, chatting more aimlessly until Tana was thoroughly convinced of her sister’s improved mood, at which point, she sidled back towards the door. The dried and redressed in appropriate nightclothes before slipping back into their respective beds, and this time, worries softened for the moment, they slept.
