She shrugged, and clearly expected him to go along with her decision. In fact, it seemed like she was very used to that. Athena was the younger sibling, but taking charge had always been her expected duty.
"Yeah, that's what I thought. Thank god this place has working machines. Can't imagine being stuck for a month in a place that didn't. Prison inmates are grubby enough as is," she didn't bother saying no offense, where others might have, "and being around you lot unwashed, well. Riots have been caused over lesser things, I'll tell you that much."
She pushed open the doors to the laundry room, the buzz of fluorescent lights above almost a comfort, and went to fetch detergent.

Al shuddered visibly at the thought, deciding it was best not to ask what sort of stuff she'd seen crammed up people's asses. "Whoa, whoa! I showered regularly when I could!" He protested, but he didn't seem to take any real offense.
"If electricity works though, that means a grocery store might be heaven... if it hasn't undoubtedly been ransacked." Definitely worth investigating....
He'd go snatch some detergent of his own, still growling over the state of his inmate attire. What he wouldn't do for some real clothes.

In a robotic fashion, Athena began to dress herself down to skivvies. She may be washing other people's clothes, but her own were in filthy, and like hell she was waiting. "They made me run cardio this morning, can you believe it?" Off came the top and undershirt, and then her shoes, socks, and pants. "Nothing worse in this world or any other." Once her clothes were off, it left her in a full coverage bra and boyshorts, revealing a few faded tattoos-- an owl that spread its wings across her shoulders, her namesake, and a jellyfish on the back of her left calf.
She put her own clothes in with the rest of the washing, and took a seat on an inactive washing machine, dying for a cigarette, slumped over, not in any attempt to be coy or foxy. She was tired, and cranky, and honestly?
"God. You ever get to the stage where you're past the nicotine addiction, but you'd still throttle a small, cute animal for a cigarette?"

"Wow." The man remarked, glancing over wryly when the woman started to strip down before he did the same. "This place really is hell." A little cardio might do him some good, he thought. Sure as hell wouldn't feel good, but did it ever? It had been quite some time to be fair, he thought with a rueful look at his belly.
He was wearing briefs for the sake of running, because God knew when he might need to haul a**. He poured out some detergent, frowning for a moment... then poured in a little more than necessary. Couldn't hurt, right? He smelled bad.
Al's laughter was rough as he leaned against a machine of his own. "Like every damn day here." Would punt a ******** puppy right into the zombie horde.

"Mmmmm, no kidding. I was telling the girl I was in the gym with: I would rather, and historically have, jump out of a plane instead of go running." Brown eyes caught glance of his tattoos, following the lines of tribal ink. Huh. Unsurprising, except for maybe the extent of them.
"Before this, I lived off of three things."
Athena held up a finger as she listed items. "Adderall. Nicotine. And Adrenaline. And now I only get a bit of the last when I watch people in fight club." She sighed, cracking her neck. "Well, that and when the shamblers get too close. Not the same. I used to do all sorts of s**t. Sky diving, swimming with sharks, bungee jumping, ziplining. I miss it."

Miss Ordinary was full of surprises. Al listened for a moment, clicking his tongue thoughtfully against his teeth. "Christ. Why swimming with sharks? Bastards have way too many teeth." Hell, why bungee jump or throw yourself out of a plane, either?? Adrenaline junkies. Well, he got his own fix... but normally it came at scamming people.
"Shoot a few more zombies in the face. Might give you the same rush." It probably wouldn't.
"Wonder if we can find a smoke shop that hasn't been completely ******** to hell."

Her smile wasn't exactly sweet. "Do you honestly think I'm here by choice?" she asked, and raised a singular brow. "This is the lot I got stuck with. I'm not exactly jumping for joy about it." "Not really the kind I enjoy, but if I could just figure out how to shoot them and keep them dead, then maybe it'd make me feel better. Watching them get back up again is just nauseating." Athena walked two fingers up his bare back, tapping him in the middle of his spine, and then tapped, too hard. "I don't trust anyone here, present company included. I'm not saying I'm going to stab anyone in the back, I'm just saying I have my priorities straight, and they all involve me, myself, and I, if it comes down to it." She withdrew her hand, not lingering. It was to prove a point. "You know, I'd actually be willing to go out and explore for that. That, and I think I'm finally going stir crazy."
