Harper’s face grew a light shade of red as Corey started to laugh; it was great to hear someone laugh without hesitation or worry even if it was only for a short moment. It was almost as if she had forgotten what it sounded like. “I may just have to take you up on that offer one day, it would at least be a great stress relief.” Only if Corey was free and didn’t mind the distraction, and Harper wasn’t overly imposing upon her, it was good to still have a friend around.
“I don’t think she liked him that much he was just really super hot and she wanted some sort trophy boyfriend to hold over her friends. She was one of those outgoing roommates who was friends with the all sorority chicks type but wasn’t actually in one because she didn’t want to make the effort but if she could make them jealous or feel bad she would.” Harper waved her hand in a dismissive manner, “but seriously I am sure he probably puked a few times in his life too. I mean who doesn’t go through their college life not puking at least once. I think he was just rolling with it as a great excuse not to see her and her craziness again.” There wasn’t much doubt that Harper didn’t miss her roommate, or the drama that came along with her. In fact she hadn’t really thought about where some of those people where now, same with her classmates or even her professors.
“Anything but math homework, or science, anything that involved me solving an equation would be great to just skip over.” Harper held up the calculus book in her hand before nailing it to a small hole along the hallway wall, it could have stayed there forever and she wouldn’t have missed it. “I do miss the art discussions, the critiques, the constant unspoken rivalry of who was the best designer in class. I wonder if any of the resident professors could even draw? Maybe doodle some things that have happened, leave them for someone to find one day.”

"I'll hold you to it~" She teased, waggling her fingers. If she had been more awake, she probably would have also been a charming shade of red. But as it were, she still managed to look pale (for her) and drained. "I think we could both use a little, ah, distraction, right?" The smile she flashed at Harper was crooked, though for a moment she wondered if maybe she was making the other girl uncomfortable.
"--Ah, one of those." Her hand waved again, as if gesturing vaguely to a group of people that no longer existed. "You're right though, people who go through their college years without puking your guts out are seriously missing out!" They created some of the best stories. The best. "I have quite a few fun crazy roommate stories myself - and actually, my ex-room-mate is a very current thorn in my side." Continuing to cause problems. So many problems.
"We could always have a 'school' night." She mused. "Play some trivia games. Pictionary. Doodle wars. Goofy s**t." Another book, nailed into another hole.
Harper looked at Corey for a moment as she waggled her fingers teasingly, looking at her pale and drained face. For a brief moment she felt as if she should do something more for Corey, something to help her in any way other than a distraction. Instead she gave her the most sincere smiles she could put on her face that wasn’t over run with being exhausted, and feeling slightly dumb for not taking more of a risk especially after Corey’s crooked smile. “You better or else I’ll be oh so sad you didn’t hold me to it.” She flashed a pair sad eyes with a what she thought was a cute pout before grinning, “I think everyone could use a distraction though something that they like doing even if for a brief moment.” Maybe not a whole lot of distraction, Harper thought about her words, but something to take just a second to take their minds off of everything going on outside of the dorms something to remind them that they were still alive.
“Exactly, if you don’t have at least one experience hugging the toilet you totally had a boring college life and you will never be able to sit down with friends and share in the traditional old college day stories.” That was really before hell broke lose, before the thought of not seeing tomorrow was more of a possibility. Harper didn’t want to think about it though, not quite yet.
“Oh? Who is your ex-room-mate? And what was your worse roommate story you have?” Harper raised a brow as she tried to think of who could possibly be a thorn in Corey’s side, sadly she hadn’t really paid enough attention to who all was doing what to really think of a face.
“A school night would be fun, trivia I would lose at easily unless it was something over art…maybe but it would be a hell of a laugh especially Doodle Wars.” Harper stopped kicking away a vent cover that the blades where torn out by someone or something. Placing the board she hammered over the vent hole, leaving a small gap at the bottom that she used one of the books to cover over afterwards. It wasn’t pretty but it was better than easy access in.

"Now that I know I'm your type, I have no other choice, do I?" She briefly made kissy noises at Harper, briefly, and continued back on to work. The sincere smile had been nice. Very refreshing from the griping, pissy faces of some of the rest of the group. She nodded in agreement to the time-honoured tradition of embarrassing college stories, and then let out a massive groan as Harper pressed for more information on her ex-roomate.
"The answer to both those questions is ******** Charlotte." She ran both hands down her face, after rubbing the sides of her nose in frustration. "She used to rearrange my bedroom to make it all feng-shui or whatever. Claimed it kept ghosts out. She's a nutcase - and - now? She thinks I'm patient zero. That all this-" She gestured wide, to all the damage the university had taken, to the scarcity of people, to everything. "-is all my fault. She's a conspiracy nut, and she's awful."
"I'll consider the throwback to school then!" She announced, dropping the last of the books on the last hole. "-And - <******** FINALLY!" She threw both arms in the air, cheering as loud as she dared. "Jesus, I didn't expect this duty to be this tedious."
Not that she was going to change it...

Harper laughed freely as Corey started to make kissy noises at her. “Nope you have no choice now.” It felt good, just for a minute to really laugh at something as silly as fake kissing noises.
Frowning as she looked at the ground, Harper felt guilty for even asking about her ex-roommate, she was prying into something that Corey didn’t want to talk about. She wanted to take it back but it was obviously too late to do so the box had been opened.
“Patient zero? Why would she even think that? If a patient zero existed why would they be here? Wouldn’t have been better to assume it was some lab or somewhere more accessible to something genetic experiment like? Sort of like in the movies…sort of thing.” A puzzled look was on Harper’s face as she looked at Corey, to the ground and then towards the ceiling as her mind tried to make any sort of sense of it. Nothing. She had nothing other than chunking it to what Corey had said that it was nothing more than a rambling of a crazy person.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry more we can drop that part of the conversation all together and instead celebrate that we have now successfully managed to repair the building using books. Lot’s of books…” Harper’s face grew a little red, more in a flustered way after thinking about how guilty she felt asking about the ex-roommate yet she stupidly blurted out more questions again. Always jumping before looking.

"She's insane, that's why." Corey lamented, with a heavy sigh. "She's always been insane, she always will be insane…she's just…insane." Corey had no other way to describe the other girl. Not a single one. Well, that was a lie, but Harper was already looking like she regretted her questioning, so perhaps it was best to leave it as it was.
"Hah, yeah, alright. So no food talk, and no Charlotte talk. That's a great deal." She nodded in agreement, her hands on her hips as she looked at the darkening face of her old friend. "We did fix a lot today." She stepped closer, her motion rather smooth, and reached out her hands to take both of Harper's, drawing them up until Harper's hands could rest on her shoulders. If Harper would let her, she'd then rest her hands on the other woman's sides. "A celebration can be a small distraction, right?" She mused, that slightly crooked smile still on her lips.

If Charlotte was that insane then Harper was going to do her best to avoid her, maybe. The question of why she thought such an insane thought still sort of bugged her but it wasn’t worth risking digging her hole any deeper. She would just keep her eye on her, just out of the corner of her eye if something strange started to happen. “Sounds like a perfect deal.” The food deal was going to have to be one that everyone kept she thought as her stomach grumbled at the word.
Her heartbeat increased, just a little, as Corey took her hands, drawing them up to her shoulders. It wasn’t what Harper had expected but it certainly was not something she would even think about opposing. A slow grin spread on face as her fingers brushed along the nape of woman’s neck, stepping even closer as Corey put her hands on her side.
“Of course, it can be.” Her eyes watching Corey’s crooked smile.

"I thought so." Corey chuckled softly in regards to the 'perfect deal'. It was a great trade off: down two terrible subjects, up one pretty awesome one. Her smile grew a little bit wider as Harper stepped closer, not refusing her advances, but seeming to welcome them. The fingers that grazed her neck drew a small shiver of delight from her; how long had it been since she allowed something to simple?
"I'm so lucky you're so agreeable!" Corey chuckled quietly, amusing herself for a moment or two. Her hands stayed on the other woman's sides, her fingers pressing very lightly into whatever fabric and skin lay under them; she had wondered about this before, and now that she had a real opportunity, she wanted to take it in. Especially with the apocalypse looming over their heads.
"Very lucky." She repeated, her voice low as if sharing a secret. She then leaned down, just enough to press a gentle kiss against Harper's lips.
