Rob's own face was flushed with anger as he glared down at Sid. A few screws loose? "Right, I'll ******** show you! Wait right here," he ordered, wagging his finger at her. Turning sharply on his heel, he stormed off out of the kitchen and down the hall, stomping loudly up the stairs toward his room.

He didn't get it. How could she deny what she had seen with her own eyes and experienced first-hand? Oh yeah right, she was chalking it up to a "bad trip." That would have had to have been some good s**t to cause the kind of hallucinations she thought she'd had. He felt secretly a little hurt that she thought he was deliberately taunting her, making fun of her. And that hurt made him even angrier. He hated the feeling.

Rummaging around on the floor next to his bed, he finally found his henshin pen, shoved into a pocket of a pair of jeans. He grabbed it and thundered back down the stairs into the kitchen. He'd show her, all right.

"Here you go," he growled, practically shoving the weird-looking pen in her face. "You satisfied now, or shall I ******** transform for you too?"

Sidney glared at the taller blonde with narrowed almond eyes, her fingers tapping a beat on her hip bones. She had an overwhelming urge to stick her tongue out at his back as he stomped off, going to get his pen or whatever it was he thought he had.

This whole thing was ridiculous. Why was he doing this? If it wasn't to be cruel, which her instincts told her Rob was the farthest from, then he was seriously delusional and had never grown out of that childish belief in unicorns and mermaids. While he banged around upstairs, she banged around the kitchen, shoving the toaster out of the way. She threw the knife into the sink with a clatter and gathered up the toast she had made, stomping over to shove it into the trash. She wasn't hungry anyway... There was no sense in keeping it.

When she heard Rob come stamping down the stairs again, she turned to face him with her arms crossed, one foot tapping the floor. To her surprise, he actually had a pen that he shoved at her and she blinked stupidly at it, reaching to snatch it out of his hand. It looked weirdly familiar... a frown drawn between her brows as she flipped it over. It looked like the one that cat man had given her, sort of. Same strange shape, but this one had different colors. She remembered the other being in bright colors, a rainbow of blue, yellow and pink. It had a different symbol too, the one she had gotten had a stupid heart embossed into it.

"This doesn't prove anything." Sid said stubbornly as she shoved it back at him. "Its a pen. A weird pen, but just a pen. I probably saw yours and just don't remember, but my mind supplied the shape of it."

The short woman wrapped her arms around her chest, crossed firmly over her ribs. She sighed heavily, wishing she hadn't even started all of this with him. She didn't want to fight with him, not about this or anything else. Sid wished, more than anything right now, just to leave...

"Look, I don't want to argue about this. Can we just forget about the whole thing?"

"No, I don't want to forget about the whole thing!" Rob shouted back. He was fully pissed now, and ready to do anything to prove to Sid that he was right. Including transforming into Puck in his own house. Yeah, there was a risk -- powering up could potentially send any Negaverse agent in the area to his location, and he really didn't want to put his family or his home in danger. But dammit, Sid was being really stubborn about this!

Stepping back from her, Rob held the pen high and recited the stupid phrase to activate the transformation. A shower of sparkly green leaves rained down on him as he glowed, and when it all faded Sailor Puck stood in front of her, his scowl intact.

"Well?" he demanded. "D'you believe me now, Sidney?"

The small woman's shoulders hunched, her eyes dropping to the floor. She didn't like the shouting... didn't like fighting with someone who was supposed to be her friend. She didn't want to be doing this... She'd rather be anywhere but right here, right now, and she mentally drew back, closing up...

She might have checked out completely, but then Rob did something unexpected. He stepped back, lifted the pen, and said words that struck her scarily familiar. Like his pen had. Like his whole story...

And light was suddenly pouring from him, like someone had turned him into a spotlight. Sid's eyes jerked up from the floor and she stared at the leaves appearing out of no where, swirling around him like a storm. Her mind blanked out at it, fear creeping up on her as she watched, her lips parted. Rob, the boy she had known since she was tiny, changed, right in front of her eyes. What was there, when the light faded, as not someone she knew.

Sid stumbled backwards, kicking the trash can before her back hit the wall. There was no way to explain what had happened... no way to deny that what she was seeing was real. s**t... Was it real? How was that possible? Did this mean... she could do that to?

"Jesus ******** Christ..." She moaned, pressing her hands to her eyes to grind into the sockets.

Did this mean... Did this mean the whole episode last night was real? The cat and the people in weird outfits and the monsters? Oh god... Sid's knees folded as she slid down the wall till her butt hit the floor and she shook all over, struggling to draw air into her lungs.

"I was <******** eaten alive, Rob! A ******** talking cat threw a pen at me. What the ********> is going on?"

The anger melted out of Puck as Sidney crumpled to the floor, shaking as the realization hit her that it had all been real. He crossed the kitchen and knelt beside her, tentatively reaching out a hand to stroke her hair. Poor thing, what a way to awaken.

"Didn't anyone explain anything to you?" he asked gently, then followed with, "No, I suppose they wouldn't have, given that it was in the heat of battle." He sighed. How could he explain what was going on when he was still so new himself?

"Okay, love, it's like this. There's a war going on, between the forces of Order -- that's us -- against the forces of Chaos -- that's the Negaverse. Their side use monsters, called youma, to terrorize the city and try to defeat us. And they have magic too. But so do we. And our magic is better. The pen allows you to change into your senshi self -- that's what we're called, senshi. And the cats are there to help us, like guardians of a sort."

Lightly touching her face, he moved his hand to touch her trembling arm. "What happened to you was real. Sounds like a big ******** youma and some plot by the Negaverse to collect energy or starseeds or some shite like that. Bastards." He reached around her shoulders and gently pulled her into his arms. He really hated those people.

"Do you know where your pen is, Sid?"

She drew a deep breath and it caught in her throat, sounding more like a sob, as she felt fingers in her scruffy hair. She resisted the comfort of it as he spoke, trying to explain to her what the people on the train had been saying last night when she refused to listen. It helped, that what he said seemed to mesh with some of things they had... it made it harder to refuse it outright, though no less hard to take in.

A real out-and-out war? Really? How could this even be possible? Why had she never heard about it before the train? How could you hide something like that?

"What am I supposed to do with this?" Sid burst out as his fingers found her face, finally dropping her hands away to drop them palm up on her knees. "I'm not a soldier, Rob! I don't know how to fight. Who on Earth would think I'm in any way fit to be be one of these... senshi people?"

Her voice rose in pitch, getting dangerously close to hysterics before the blonde pulled her away from the wall. Her knees dropped to the floor as she went willingly, breaking half way and reaching for him as a sob broke from her. She stifled it as she wrapped her arms tightly around his chest, burying her face into his shirt. He was solid and warm and he was someone she was fairly sure actually cared about her, and that was what she needed right now. She didn't want to deal with any of this... having Rob there to hold her was like a barrier between her and the harshness of it all and she clung to him desperately.

"I dunno." She mumbled against his shirt. "Maybe it got put in my bag."

Sid didn't want to think about the stupid rainbow pen... She wanted to stay right here, safe and held, on the floor of their kitchen.

"I don't know why we were chosen," Puck said quietly, shaking his head as he held Sid tightly, gently rocking her back and forth. "It has something to do with reincarnation and starseeds and being aligned with the White Moon." He wished now that he'd listened a little more carefully to Faust -- the cat had skimmed over a lot of information, but he had managed to get across much of the basics.

"You got something in you that's a warrior, whether you believe it or don't. I believe it -- look how much you've been through and you fought your way through it. You're a survivor, Sid, and a fighter. I believe you can be a soldier." He shook his head. "I know this war doesn't make any sense, but the Negaverse are out there killing people for some reason -- innocent people. And we're the ones who can stop them. You have the strength in you to help, and the magic. I don't know what you do, but I'm sure it's more awesome than what I can do," he chucked softly.

"We'll look for your pen later. It's not important right now. But it will be later." He dropped back down into civilian form, and it was once more Rob who held her on the kitchen floor. "I'll hold you as long as you need me to."

A survivor she might be, but a fighter? What a laugh. It took two very different skill sets to be each. In one you ran towards battle, in the other?

You ran away. Running away was Sidney's forte. She was small and quick and she cared more about her own skin than someone else's. It's how you survived, when the odds were against you. You didn't stand up to the uncle with the heavy hand. You didn't push for a relationship that wasn't there any more. You gave the mugger your money and your stash, because he had a gun and you didn't. You slept with a woman because she liked the rainbow in your hair and you needed a roof over your head for a few days. It's what you did, because running away and giving in kept you safe.

How on earth was she supposed to be expected to fight?

It was an unexpected blessing that Rob was here. He had been at this longer, he liked to fight and he had some sort of sense of what was going on. If she stuck with him, he'd take care of her, surely. Sid felt his shirt reform under her cheek and she lifted a thin hand to grip the material in her fist. It felt nice here. Safe. She knew it wasn't a guaranteed thing and she fully planned to watch her own back, but having someone around she might be able to count on a little felt good, after losing Ice and the entire foundation of her life.

Sidney shifted after a moment. One hand dropped to a lean thigh under soft cotton and she pushed herself upwards, scooting in closer. The fist in his shirt was leverage to pull herself in close and she angled her head up to find him. This time, it was not simply a friendly or playful kiss she pressed on him, but something more, something that begged for a response in kind.

Caught by surprise, Rob reacted almost reflexively, returning the kiss with the same fervor as it was given. He pulled Sid closer, almost crushing the small woman to his body. The tension and pressure of this whole senshi thing, building up over the past weeks, were released with the kiss. In the back of his mind there lingered a little guilt over it, the fact that he was kind of seeing Aitana, and he felt the slightest bit like he was betraying her, even though it was mostly a friends-with-benefits sort of relationship. But he'd known Sidney since they were both children; she was his oldest, dearest friend.

He would do whatever he could for her, whenever she needed him. And she needed him right here, right now.

After awhile he gently broke it off. "Don't worry, Sid," he said softly, kissing her forehead. "It's all going to be alright." He still held her tightly in his arms, one hand coming up to tangle in her multicolored hair. "I'll make sure of it. I'll teach you what I know, we'll find others to teach you too. And I'll make sure nothing happens to you."

His response was everything she wanted and Sid made a low noise in her throat as he held her tightly against him. Rob was warm against her, solid and real. It was like a shield to hold up between herself and the things she was afraid to face. Her tongue slid across his lips before she followed it with her teeth and when he pulled back, she let out a long, slow breath as her lashes lifted.

"I know..." She murmured softly, brushing her lips against his chin with a light touch as he kissed her forehead. It was such a gentle touch... an affection she hadn't had in a long time. Hook ups didn't do something so innocent as kiss your forehead. Releasing his shirt, Sid slid her hand down Rob's stomach and snagged the hem, working both hands under the cloth to press flat to his skin. They smoothed across him, up over his chest, as his fingers found her hair.

"I trust you." Sid hummed as she claimed his lips again, taking full advantage of the opening he gave her by kissing her back. This was what she wanted... strong arms and hot skin. And Rob, who cared about her, wanted to take care of her. Maybe she could lose herself in him for a little while and forget about all of this. She could deal with the hard stuff later, when they were both in a better frame of mind. She shifted, crawling up into his lap till her knees settled around his waist and her nails trailed around his ribs to run down his back under his shirt.

Rob let out a soft sound as Sid's hands slipped beneath his shirt and ran over his chest. He hadn't expected this, but he wasn't going to fight it. She was so very special to him -- he couldn't deny her anything, not even his body.

He returned her kiss, making another small noise deep in his throat when she crawled up into his lap, wrapping her knees around his waist and sliding her hands around to his back. She felt so good in his arms, so tiny and vulnerable. He knew she was really a strong person inside, whether she believed it or not; he'd just have to convince her somehow. But that was a task for another time. Right now Sid needed him, wanted him even. Trusted him. And he wasn't about to disappoint her.

His hands slid beneath the back of her camisole, still holding her tightly to him, then ran down her back to the waistband of her boy shorts. Suddenly he released her, and with an irritated grunt pulled off his shirt before wrapping his arms around her again, his mouth returning to meet hers with a passionate, deep kiss.

Whimsical Blue
He's more than willing, clearly XD I figure we can go for another couple posts before fading to black? I don't know what you want to do after that, pick up again after the deed is done or wrap it there?

Sidney's breath rasped in her throat when he tore his lips away, coming faster now as she watched him free himself from the cloth. Teeth scraped across her lower lip as her eyes swept down his chest and stomach, tracing the lines of lean muscle. He wasn't Ice... no one would ever be Ice, but she liked the shape of him, the feel of his skin under her fingers. Her hands smoothed down over his abs until he pulled her close again and then she met him eagerly in another kiss, wanting to sink into him, feel him wrapped around her. It was warming, exciting, and she had no reservations about sliding her tongue between his lips as her fingers caught in the waistband of his shorts, working under them to trace the ridge of his hip bones.

They had been friends as children, but they'd both grown up since then, learning and changing even as they'd matured. Rob wasn't that gangly young boy any more, though his sunny smile remain the same. It was time their friendship grew up too.

---

It was later that Sid, finding the floor uncomfortably hard on prominent hips and shoulder blades, rolled over and sprawled across Rob's chest, sweat slick across her shoulders and an elastic euphoria finally settling in to soothe away the rough edges on the world.

Everything felt better, listening to Rob's breathing rasp and watching the sunlight through the windows light up the inside of her eyelids. All the scary things felt very far away and dream like, which had been entirely the point. It was hard to hold onto the fear and worry when endorphins buzzed through her system, or give the supposed monsters she'd seen as much weight in a sun-drenched kitchen with a warm and delicious body under hers.

The need for a smoke gnawed at her, but she was reluctant to move yet, her cooling skin making her shiver. Sid thought, briefly, about food and discarded it. As usual, she couldn't dredge up actual hunger and getting food was more effort than she was willing to spend.

The kitchen floor felt deliciously cool beneath Rob's sweat-soaked body, and he sighed contentedly as he lay there trying to slow his breathing. Nothing like a little hot sex before breakfast. And it had been ridiculously hot. Sid was a responsive, hungry lover -- wild in a different way than Aitana was, but still a lot of fun. And she seemed to be much calmer now, he noticed as she draped herself across his chest. That made the whole thing well worth it.

Raising one arm, he placed a hand on the small of Sid's back. He still felt the tiniest bit of guilt over what he'd just done, as though he'd somehow betrayed Aitana. That of course didn't make any sense -- sex was just sex, after all, and nothing was to be meant by it. He had only helped his dear friend get over her fear and confusion over suddenly discovering she was a senshi, like him. Yet there it was, that tiny little twinge in the back of his mind. Could it mean there was more to his feelings for Aitana?

That was a problem to ponder another time. Sid was here right now, and she still needed him.

He lightly petted the small woman's back. She was so slight, she hardly weighed a thing. "How are you doing, love?" he finally asked, his voice soft. "Feeling better?"

Rob was saying something as he stroked her skin and Sid mumbled something as she shifted, sliding her thigh up to wrap a leg around his. After a moment, she cleared her throat and tried again, though there was a still a raspy quality to her voice that only came after a period of vigorous sexual activity.

"M'Good..." She hummed, arguing with herself for a bit before finally forcing her body to move. Her slender hands braced on his chest and the floor as she pushed upwards, settled on one hip as she reached to run her fingers through her damp hair. "There isn't much a rough ******** on the kitchen floor won't fix."

She chuckled richly as she tucked her fringe behind her ear and bent down to press a kiss to his lips, lingering over it as a smile curved her mouth.

"Can't say I wouldn't like to do it again sometime... I enjoyed it a lot." Her fingers trailed up his chest to finger a bruise her teeth had left on his collarbone and she bent to press her lips to that too, her breath fanning his skin as she let out a relaxed sigh. Hopefully this wasn't going to change things too much between them... just in the good way, where they got to be friends but also got to have sex once in a while. She could admit that jumping him while she felt vulnerable probably hadn't been the smartest thing to do, but it was done now. She'd just have to deal with whatever this meant now.

"I'm not expecting anything from you, just so you know..." Sid said as she straightened up, her lashes low over magenta eyes. "It was just fun, I'm not looking for any sort of new relationship. I mean, you wouldn't want that any way, to be my rebound guy."

Rob's eyes closed as Sid's lips met his, returning the kiss happily. He could have purred, he was so sated. "Good. I'm glad." He was happy he could help her at least calm down over the situation they both found themselves in. Of course, he'd had a little more time to deal with the senshi thing, and in the end for him it wasn't such a big deal. He viewed it as license to get into fights, and yeah, he had the altruistic helping-others thing going on, but that wasn't the big reason behind why he hadn't just broken the pen and told Faust to ******** off. But that was him; there was still Sid's situation to deal with.

But that could wait until later. He watched her as she kissed the mark she'd left on him, and his hand came up to tangle lightly in her hair. It was more productive right now to deal with the moment. "I enjoyed it too," he murmured with a smile, "and I wouldn't mind a repeat performance at all sometime." It was true, too. Despite the niggling little guilt about Aitana, he wouldn't turn down another opportunity for him and Sid to screw themselves senseless.

He raised an eyebrow, though, at her next remark. "Sid, love…" He turned and propped himself up on his elbow. "You… you're my friend. I'm not expecting anything from you. I know you had a rough go of it, and I really sincerely appreciate your concern. I don't want to be anybody's rebound guy either." Giving her a reassuring smile, he reached out and touched her cheek. "It was a lot of fun. But that's it. I don't expect you to fall in love with me just because we ******** ourselves stupid."

His brown eyes met her magenta ones. "We all good then?"
