Before her the Firani was dripping with blood from the many wounds that the angler Merkora had been able to land. The wounds were scattered all over it's body in the areas that were easy for her to reach and had her grinning a bit despite the fact that she was panting a bit now. She too had been wounded here and there from scratches, bites, and some burns... and she wanted nothing more then to soak once more in the oasis. It was something that she meant to do once the battle with the Firani was over.
It was a battle that she knew would be ending sooner then later given that the two of them were getting near spent. One of them would be bound to make a big mistake leaving themselves open to an attack by the other. She just meant to keep from being the one that was killed. She had far too much to do to be killed! Not to mention that her clan was waiting for her back home and she wasn't about to just let them down because she'd let some dragon get the best of her. No, she would just have to prove her strength by taking this creature down... but first, she needed to find a really good opening, one that would allow her to get her many sharp teeth on the dragon's vulnerable throat!
Giving a rumbling sound she set to running toward the Firani in a zig zag pattern, looking for an opening, her silver eyes sparkling. It was as she was moving toward the dragon in the more unpredictable manner she gave a pleased hiss, seeing the opening that she wanted. Giving a snarl she sped up, heading toward the Firani at full speed, mouth open in anticipation of her teeth sinking into soft flesh...

The dragon wasn't expecting the ferocity in which Khaldera attacked with, likely having guessed that the Merkora was all but spent. It was mostly adrenaline that had kept her going and the moment she saw the opening that she needed she'd gone for it. Her many sharp teeth sank into the throat of the dragon, digging in deep, and she set to work shaking her head violently from side to side. It was a process that was quite brutal but it was what was needed, because it was likely to be the last attack that she'd be able to do given how exhausted she was feeling after the long, drawn out battle that she'd had with the two Firani dragons. They were fierce opponents but she would be glad to finally be done with the pair of them.
The dragon started to crumble away, dropping both Khaldera and the Firani's orb into the sand, leaving the Merkora standing there in a daze. It felt like an eternity before she was able to shake off the haze. Once that was done she shuffled forward, scooping up the orb in her teeth, before heading toward the oasis's cool, crisp water once more. The Merkora slid into the water, sinking to the bottom, and curled up in a ball around the two Firani orbs that she had fought so hard for. It wasn't really all that long after she'd entered the oasis that she'd slipped into a deep sleep.
Later, a lot later, Khaldera came to again. It was night time once again, the stars glittering overhead, and still Khaldera didn't surface. No, she was happy where she was and meant to stay in the water until she'd recovered all of her magical energy so that she would be prepared for whatever came next. Here was to hoping it would be more good battles she thought to herself as she set to work finally inspecting the beautiful orbs that she'd fought so hard for.
