While his lord and friend brought up more about why the ice should be a concern, Volga thought more on it. Every time he came up with the same conclusion as before. They were an unknown entity and had very little grounds to concerned with at this point other than that they were a strange and unknown entity. There was really nothing more to it than that. They had no more intel on them. It would be a boon to find someone on the inside who know more about the lands. Someone from the actual tribe and not a part of their own colony. Unfortunately all they had was the words of Maximus, a fire kin, about those who he saw dwelling in the dark lands. That would not be a bad place to start, the dark lands, but it was not something either of them were capable of doing at the moment. Perhaps if he spotted Maximus again he would suggest that he find someone in the dark tribe who knew more about the ice. That would be a great boon indeed. Again, not something he could do at the moment. His concerns and time were now for his lord and friend in counseling him on what should be done about the crazed empress. Still, he opened his mouth just slightly to suggest speaking with Maximus about everything, but before Volga could comment about the ice tribe situations he took quick note of Vuk's rapid change in expression. His maw closed than tightened a bit. Than he drew a deep breath.
"Your priorities should first be with yourself, my Lord. How can you take care of a nation if you cannot even handle your own needs? Xiaofan is an extension of yourself... I believe it is a matter that you should tend to as a great priority."
Volga spoke boldly. The look in his friend's eyes negated Volga's former thought on keeping the matter to himself. Vul brought it up first, that meant he was willing to talk about it. Or, at least, was a sign he sought advice. Obvious thought. Volga knew he could be wrong and if he was he was fully willing to accept the consequences of his rash actions. That much he was willing to do. Everyone was responsible for their own action and Volga was no different. If he made bold choices he needed to be ready to answer to them.
The tahtil standing before him was his good friend and above all his lord. There was nothing he wouldn't do to ensure the lord was well. Even if that meant giving advice that would earn him a swift claw across the face. Not that he believed his words would, but there was a chance that they would and he had to be fully prepared for that.
It was something he believed his lord and friend needed to hear. One must take care of themselves before they may be fit to take care of anyone else. Vul was in charge of his own nation, of anyone who wished to call this tribe their home and alliance. He could not afford to become unhealthy because of so much concern and worry piled upon his shoulders from the actions of those that should be leading with him. It was unfair of his mate to throw such a burden on his shoulders, but that did not mean that Vul had to lay down and give up. If anything, this event can show just how bright his flame was!
Volga drew in a deep breath again. His eyes remained upon his friend unblinking as he continued with his advice and concerns. Ones he believed should be thought on in the current moment aside something that might not even be a reality.
"If her condition spreads to affect more than within these palace walls, and the public become aware... your kingdom's image, all of her people, yourself, are at risk of being severely tainted. The tribe itself will be no more than a joke to any who hear its name."
Volga gave a moment's pause for his words to sink in. The matter was a very serious one. There was the possibility of word spreading outside of the tribe like a wild fire and consuming the image of the lords and the tribe itself. Everyone within will be pinned with the same insanity that the empress has shown whether they follow it or not! It was something that would definitely give them cause to go out to war. Which, would be nothing short of a disaster with their current military position. They had little defense against any attackers other than their strength and the mountain itself. The ice may not have been able to reach them, but who knows if other b'alam could? The earth for example. Volga had heard word their magus was very powerful. One of which was a fire b'alam. Hopefully they would not attack thing they were weak because of the insanity of one, but Volga had no idea what the characters of these magus were. They could be very cruel for all he knew. All he knew was that there were three magus within the earth tribe and that the earth was a mighty force. More speculation, but it was far more believable than the ice becoming a threat. Especially since his informant was Maximus himself, the informant he trusted.
"I do not wish to see your name as a joke. My hands will be full with silencing many..."
Volga added the joke hoping that it will keep some of t he light mood about them. He had grinned at the thought of a battle. Though it may be foolish, he had thought of what it would be like to have combat with one rumored to be so powerful. A worthy opponent, but that battle best be kept as one that is friendly. They did not need to have enemies at this point, not now. Not until they could strengthen themselves and become an incredible nation.

Vulkonus removed his paw from his head, glancing over at Volga. He knew in his heart that his bodyguard was right. He just didn't know how to go about it. "I feel as if I'm going a little crazy myself. I am in constant thought about the Empress and this fiery kingdom in which we were both supposed to rule over. I do not know how to take a firm hold of this situation and make it appear to the general eye that everything is as it should be. I know the The Grand Weaver has plans for us all when he weaves his creations into being, but I do not believe he meant for this to happen. Am I to be alone in rectifying it?"
The Fire Lord turned and slowly padded back over the to lavafall, looking up at it as it smoothly ran down the rockface. "This is my kingdom, Volga. I must run it with a firm paw. I am the embodiment of the volcano, and I must protect her and her denizens. I just do not know what I must do, or how to even begin." He was silent once more, having spoke his mind. It was apparent that the Fire Lord's mind was troubled, and he was eagerly seeking guidance from his most trusted adviser.

Volga's eyes never left Vul as he responded to the hard advice that Volga had to offer. One must always study an opponent's body language and be ready for anything, though Vul was not an opponent he was stressed and Volga needed to know how to respond properly. There was so much of the situation he did not understand. Volga could not imagine what it must have been like to have your other half in such a state. He had never really considered going out and finding a mate for himself. There was too much to do and that to him seemed like a waste of time. If he were to go out and do something that seemed so foolish to him, than he might as well go and travel around with Edia. The joy of having a daughter was enough for him, he did not need to go out and search for someone to be his companion. With that thought in mind, there may never be a day where he would understand what his lord and friend was going through with his mate. Hopefully he never will. Which was all the reason to be visualant and read the body language of his friend before responding. It was a matter he would not fully understand but regardless he would do his best to ease his lord and friend's mind.
"It is because we are no mere pawns in the design. We have free will to do as we please. " Volga responded after a moment of thought.
There really was no other way to put that. Everyone had a choice to make, and everyone was to be accountable for those choices that they decide to pursue. The empress has fallen into a strange state of mind, but one can question how she fell into such a state of mind in the first place. She made a choice to follow some idea. Just like Volga had made a choice to comment on it, to remain loyal to the fire tribe and to remain friends with the lord. All of it was a choice. Life would not be as surprising if no one got to choose anything. Unfortunately that comes with both good and bad choices. The good ones were a pleasure to deal with, but the bad ones were often why there needed to be warriors.
Volga drew in a deep breath before advancing forward so that he stood just behind his friend. He glanced out over the lava that rolled by the windows and took in their beauty. Once again he found himself appreciating them and what they stood for. It had been so long since he had taken time to appreciate them. The power if the lava, the volcano itself was a physical representation of what this nation needed to be, strong and ever flowing with lava and life. This was the perfect symbol for his lord and friend, this mountain. He would have to learn to be just like it, and and such stand tall and forever burn bright with ambition. Volga himself had used that analogy with his pupil and had used it as a personal motivation to continue to be better. He wanted to be a great warrior, but he knew he had to work at it. This volcano was an inspiration and he was actually glad it was here to serve as such.
"You are strong, like the volcano that protects us all. These troubles are but trials in your life. What you make of them will affect your people and, even more so, your mind. A true warrior takes his circumstances and uses them to become even stronger. You have that potential. Xiaofan will need to be dealt with, but when that time comes you must trust that you will know what to do... that is what will make you a great king, My Lord."
Volga drew in another slow and deep breath as he thought on his own words. It would be hard for Vul to do anything harmful to his beloved. It had to be. Volga knew he would be hurt to have to harm his daughter should anything come to that, and he hoped it never would. But he knew he would act if need be. He would strike down his daughter if that was the right thing to do. Still, it would be difficult.
Volga internally shook that thought from his head as he refused to think his pupil, no, daughter would disappoint him that bad. Unspoken to anyone, she was his volcano. Since he had taken her under his wing he had felt that he was stronger, that he had more purpose in life than simply finding the next battle. Volga wanted to be strong so that his daughter would never have to know what worry was, never feel as though she were weak and alone. Even while she was away on her travels she would feel the brightness of his courage with her and in turn inspire her to burn just as bright. No, brighter. She would surpass him and that caused Volga to well with pride at the thought of his little girl surpassing him. Yet, she was out there alone...
Once again he had to internally shake the thought away. He was showing weakness and distrust by dwelling on such a thing. Edia was going to be fine. Though, the sudden thought of her finding a mate caused the fur on his tail to prickle. Hopefully that went unnoticed. If he should cause her the sort of harm that Vul was going through right now, Volga knew he would tear the cur apart without a single breath being wasted. Without a single thought against it. There would be no force on earth that could protect the wretch if he should dare harm his little Edia... that is, if it should happen. Perhaps that was as unknown as the ice tribe's presence. It was a matter that should not be dwelled on at the moment. His friend needed comfort, Volga knew he should not be distracted.

"The free will is slightly maddening."
The Fire Lord continued to watch the ever-falling lava. He knew that everything Volga was saying was true, but he was internally struggling with accepting it. If the Fire Tribe were to be proud and strong, Vulkonus would have to take up charge as he should, no matter what was standing in his way. He would have to take matters into his own paws and deal with them accordingly. Would The Grand Weaver help? Maybe, but there really was no telling. Vulkonus was not one question the grand scheme of things, but he did have to wonder if there was any kind of plan already in the works that he was unaware of.
"I am the embodiment of the mountain in which we make our home. I am blessed with knowledge that not even normal kinsmen know of, for they follow my rules and believe what I say. My actions will always speak louder than words, for I am The Fire Lord. Xiaofan... Is slowly becoming more unstable with each passing day. What am I to do about it? I do not know. The entity known as the 'Spish' is corrupting her mind, but I do not know how to stop it. I do know though that if this 'Spish' has a physical form, I will tear it to shreds the day I discover it."
With that, Vulkonus held his peace again. He knew his friend would have more to say, and while the large, ruby-coated feline could go on, he wanted insight as well. Thankfully, no guards were around in the central chamber to overhear the conversation. Otherwise, Volga would have an order to carry out.

Volga remained still in both body and word while his lord spoke of his concerns for the tribe's future. There was a great deal of weight on each word spoken and Volga knew his nation was in trouble. It had been on his mind constantly among other things that were not related to the tribe's well being. There was nothing the could do about the empress, at least not by himself, but what he did know was that even the weaver would not allow such a thing to continue for long. Something would happen regardless of action from their lord. The empress needed to be stopped before word got outside of the tribe if it already has not been by some means. This would be a disaster for his lord and friend's image and the nation as a whole. It will make the powerful volcano appear as if it were no more than a bubbling puddle of lava that should simply be stepped over.
From the corner of his eye he could see the lava drifting downward at a leisurely pace, as if time had slowed down just outside the window. The fire itself seemed disturbed by the land's predicament. Disturbed or faceted by it. Volga did not really think that the land could care either way if it had a thought, which it did not. The lava was simply an entity that represented this tribe and his lord and friend, it did not have life. That kind of thinking might have been what lead the empress to her current state of mind. Volga chose not to go down that rabbit hole. What kind of creature was this "spish" and how did nit come to be. The empress had not left the castle, he assumed. So what could have spawned such a delusion within the walls of this palace? Volga briefly recalled the scarf the empress wore around her neck and how it had that strange creature on the edges embroidered in fine golden silk. Perhaps their tailor would have something to do with the delusion? Was he to blame? Volga had no idea who even made that. Perhaps the spish came first and the creator of the scarf only made that out of fear. The coward. He should be struck alone for feeding such a delusion if that was the case. Hopefully they can find such an entity so that they might kill it where it stood and put an end to the delusion that it had some divine power over anything. Surely that would set the empress right in the head. Or drive her to further madness and have cause to strike her down as well. For Vul's sake, hopefully that will not come to pass. Still, the spish, if it truly did exist, should be eradicated.
"And I will be there to destroy this creator of delusions along side you." Volga assured his friend and lord after he was done speaking.
"The answer will come in time, I am sure." He drew a deep breath before continuing. "Forgive me if this is out of line of me to say, but my Lord, it will be unwise for the time being to allow her out of the palace. Until her delusions are clear we cannot allow others to hear her or even be swayed into thinking the same. Surely it will make us the laughing stock of the land, but more importantly, it will divide your people. It might cause those who dwell in other tribes to attack us. Ones who could enter the land. We cannot have a war now, we are unprepared and unguarded."
Though the Ice tribe was unknown, there was still the earth, dark, water that were known. Volga knew little about each and was not sure if they would take opportunity to attack another land. Or perhaps they will in the name of stopping a heracy from spreading. Volga had heard the water tribe was very devoted to the weaver. Whether or not they were aggressive was something else he had very little clue about. As much of a mystery as the ice tribe if there was one to even speak of.
The thought of a divided nation wrenched his heart and gut. There was nothing more deviating than a land divided. Though the thought was something that was merely a hunch and had nothing in which to be used as an example, but the fear was real. If the land was divided than the threat could come from inside. There could be those who start a civil war within the tribe to try and establish a stable set of rulers. There were very few members within the tribe as it was, it would be a shame to have to put some of them down for going against the will of the emperor. Loosing the numbers they had would not be pleasant as well. It was not a concern his lord and friend needed at the moment.
"That will make us weak and mock your rule. Something I do not wish to see you undertake. I will be too busy defending your good name to have any time to have these conversations with you..."
Volga added with a slight grin, hoping that it would lighten the mood if but a smidgen. The topic was most severe and should be taken with the weight it contained, but he also knew that his Lord was weary from his terrible dilemma. If a war should break out in any form, neither of them would have time to rest. They would have to defend their walls with all they had or else they will surely fall to their attackers.
Still, what could be done about the empress? The land? Volga knew the two solutions went hand in hand. The land would improve if Vul could focus on more than his empress being sick of mind. If she could help him with a sane mind the land would prosper. Right now it seemed but a foolish dream to think as such. They were the fire tough, they would prevail! (1021)
