”I thank you for your kind compliment,” Ethiriel said, her voice light and nearly playful. A gentle smile raised the corners of her lips. She also offered a small bow, her hand hovering where her stomach would be.
Henry smiled before returning his attention back to Nell. ”It shouldn’t be too hard! All of the guardians and Raevans I’ve met have been beyond nice! So no worries!” he said in his usual, puppy-like excitement. Mimicking Nell’s thoughtful sound, he brought his hand to his chin again. ”Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a thing! It all really just depends on the individual Raevan!”

"Oh, don't mention it!" she said with a wave of her hands. She found herself momentarily jealous of how naturally graceful the Frei was, but brushed it off as best as she could. No use thinking such ill things about someone who seemed to be so kind and gentle, after all.
It was much more difficult to contain the impatient sigh that managed to escape from her lips. "Yeah, I guess it's just a matter of waiting, now," she sounded rather resigned to this, though she kept shifting her weight from foot to foot, a rather blatant insight into how she was dealing with the wait. Which is to say, badly. But at least being able to discuss the situation with someone who was familiar with it did allow her mind to move on to something else for a moment.
"Oh, um, I'm sorry if this is a bit abrupt or rude, but since you two were out here running I'm gonna go out on a limb here! Would either of you happen to belong to a gym...?" Her voice trailed off with an almost hopeful note, and while she was still fidgeting it seemed to be a bit more excited than it had been earlier.

Henry could understand the impatience; Ethiriel had come to him as-is, and to be honest, he couldn’t imagine having to wait for her birth – he didn’t know how any of the to-be guardians could wait for what seemed like so long for the new light of their life. Personally, with his personality in question, it would have driven him insane with anticipation, so he had to commend Nell.
At the woman’s next question, Henry perked up with interest. ”I used to be part of one but with my switch to being strictly a pediatric nurse rather than an ER nurse, I dropped it for time at work. I’d love to start going to one again once I have time, for sure!”
Ethiriel, however, shook her head at the same time. She did none of the effort in this part of their relationship – then again, not having legs would make that difficult. She didn’t lift or work herself in any way, and Henry probably wouldn’t have allowed her to endanger herself in such a way anyway. She didn’t begrudge him for this as she honestly had no interest in anything other than accompanying Henry on his runs.
”I take it you’re a member somewhere? How is it? Any good?”

Well, she hadn't been waiting long at all, the true test would have to be when she has been waiting for months. She might end up camping in the Lab with how excited and anxious she was likely to become the longer the wait was. Hopefully (for the Lab's sake) it wouldn't come to that, but time would tell.
She nodded along with their answers, not too surprised at Etheriel's answer. She didn't seem like the sort to work out much, but it seemed like her guess about Henry was right. "W-ell..." she said slowly, drawing out the word. "Kind of, yeah? I actually not too far from here, towards the beach. Might be a bit biased but I think it's pretty great," she said with a laugh. "They just renovated everything before I got there, so everything's still nice and shiny." She glanced back over to Etheriel, feeling a slight pang of guilt that she couldn't think of something that would suit the Raevan, but she was still new here, and they likely already knew of most of the places around that she would enjoy.
"But yeah! If you ever feel like picking it back up just drop by and I can can get you settled in!"

”That sounds wonderful! I’d love to stop by one of these days! Only, it’ll have to wait until summer’s over – accident season for the kiddies being out and about without school. Hopefully soon after that, though!” Henry said, gently giving Nell’s shoulder a pat. ”Maybe one day we’ll bump into each other there!”
With Henry’s tendency to get sweaty with workouts, Ethiriel gave a hardly noticeable wince as she imagined being in a large room with several people working out. She’d have to pass on this one and spend more time with her flowers. While she watered them every day, she hadn’t spent actual time with them in about a week and it was taking a toll on her emotionally – being around the other plants seemed to calm her.
But still… all of those smelly people working out in one room; it didn’t sound appealing.
Passing a glance to his watch, Henry raised a brow. It was still early, thankfully, and he lowered his arm. However, with the sun beating down on Ethiriel and her without her sunhat, the nurse worried a little over her temperature. He didn’t want to leave Nell hanging, so instead he nodded toward the parking lot and signaled for her to follow if she pleased.
”Hopefully one of these days the Lab sets up another get together. Best place to meet guardians and potentials.”

"Oh, the gym isn't going anywhere. And if the kids I know are any indication, dealing with them is probably a better workout than what we can give you," she said with a laugh. Granted, she never had to treat any sick or injured kids aside from the token cold or skinned knee, but the sheer amount of energy that kids tended to have had to be exhausting at times.
And Etheriel did have quite the point, the place got a distinctly funky smell at the end of the day, but she had (unfortunately?) gotten used to it by now. She couldn't fault her for that, though, Nell would have difficulty picturing the elegant Raevan in such a setting.
Nell dutifullytagged along as Henry and Etheriel started to move, nodding along with a small frown. "Yeah, kind of wish I was able to stick around at the last one for a bit longer and meet some more people, but," there was a definite bounce in her step as she walked, her tone hopefully optimistic. "Plenty of time for that in the future, I hope!"

It was true; kids were a handful. However, with the sickly young ones that Henry often tended, a lot of them were too weak for extensive playtime or anything that involved them getting out of bed. It was heartbreaking and flashback inducing all at once, but it gave Henry the determination to keep helping them. He wanted nothing more in the world to help kids that needed him.
”I’m sure there’ll be another one soon! They generally do holidays and it shouldn’t be long before someone sets something up! It’s not just the staff that sets up events!”
Nodding, mostly in agreeance with himself, Henry pulled out Ethiriel’s large sun hat from the car and immediately closed the door. He rested his arms on the hood of his car staring back out toward the browning park, but his attention was still on Nell. ”You can also just… go meet people. Lab folk are generally pretty friendly and welcoming! So long as you catch them at the right time, anyway, but that’s most people. They gave you a list of Guardians, didn’t they?”

"They did," It had been something that she had spent longer than she should have simply staring at it, rather than actually using any of the information that was printed there. "Kinda feels weird calling up someone I don't know out of the blue, thought I guess it can't be too out of the ordinary in this situation!" If she thought about it, she hadn't really talked to anyone here that she wasn't working with for the most part since she had moved. Definitely needed to get out more.
"I'll try and give, ah, Vivette, Anita, and Duncan?" She hoped she remembered the names of the guardians that Ethiriel suggested right, at least. "A call when I get back. It would be nice to meet some more Raevans as well, so I could have someone to introduce them to when they get here/" Even the mention of her Raevan-to-be brought a rather dopey looking smile to her face and put a bounce in her step, her excitement clearly winning out over the worries she had been having about the Essence.
"Would it be alright if I called you when they get here, Etheriel? I don't know how long it'll take them to do their thing at the Lab, but would love for you two to meet when they do come home!"

Henry nodded with the biggest smile on his face. ”It’s kinda weird at first but from what I’ve experienced, they really don’t mind! All Raevans are eager to meet others!”
When Nell listed off Ethiriel’s suggestions, the Frei nodded. She was confident that they would be more than open to the guardian-to-be and offer any suggestions they had. Having noticed how everyone tended to flock to Henry for help, possibly due to his friendly appearance and demeanor, and he wasn’t able to give the best answers due to his little time taking care of her. She wished she could be of more help, but truly – as Henry had said – each Raevan is different and needs varied care.
”I would love to meet with your ward when they come to be. As Sir Henry said, we all do love one another.”
With a quick glance to the setting sun and his wrist watch, Henry gave the roof of the car another gentle tap before pushing himself away. ”I’m really sorry,” he started, giving Nell the biggest apologetic smile he could muster, ”But it’s getting late and we need to get home. You have my number – I’m pretty sure they’ve updated the list since before you got an essence. I’d love to meet up again one of these days!”

There was a small relieved sigh from her when Ethiriel nodded at the names, glad she was able to remember them all. Even if they weren't able to give any specifics as far as care goes, it would be good to know some people and Raevans ahead of time that she could introduce her future charge to once they arrived.
"Oh! Of course! Sorry if I kept you for too long, and thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! I'll definitely give you a call when they come home from the Lab!" She stepped back as Henry and Eth got into the car, giving them a small wave before turning back to the park and continuing on her run.
