His cheeks burned lightly when he realized she'd caught on to that; his hand tapped idly at his thigh, and he fiddled with his piercing between his teeth. It wasn't like Hitch had any reason to be nervous or embarrassed or anything like that.
Maybe because the only person to really question it had really been Fritz, and he'd done that for Tolliver, not for him, obviously. Having someone kind of concerned on his account, even in her vaguely Jarias way, sort of threw him off. "It kinda just happened - his bro found out an' they sorta had a fight over me an' - it was gonna be temporary at first, but - "
He laughed, pushing his hair out of his face and shrugged his shoulders. "We fit. Really ********' well. Like I ain't been this happy in a real long time, y'know? - an' things are kinda rough for him right now, I mean, with his bro an' all, but - he feels the same way, so - yeah. Go figure, huh?"
If he was flustered before, it got about ten times worse at the praise; he blushed hard and mumbled something else that was bordering on intelligible, with the only real clear part of it being 'your face' as he crossed his arms over his chest and let a hot puff of air out of his nose.
Hitch snorted at the comment, trying to pull himself back together and get his composure to where it should be. "Only the ones that matter, " he bit back with a hint of a smirk, feeling better about himself - although seriously it wasn't fair that she got to be so damn good at this game.
And seriously Jarias, he knew she was taking it easy on him, b***h was going to regret that! - or so he planned. Really he just sort of struck the balls blindly and hoped for the best. Finesse wasn't exactly his strong point.

"Just making sure my best man isn't getting used." She said casually, still watching him. Hitch was her best friend, so Tolliver was still on the chopping block as far as she was concerned.
"I trust your judgement...sometimes." She bluntly said, "Sometimes, you go way off the ******** pasture. So time to come back. I wanna meet him. I won't go fighting with him..." But she laughed, "But I can't promise I won't be jealous that he's taking my friend away."
"Yeah yeah, my face. Things that like it. We discussed these things." She waved her hand.
"Oh my god, I really hope thats not how you get it in."

Hitch looked at her for a long moment, his eyes widening a little, and his cheeks burned again, more intensely this time. "Jari, I - " She said it all so bluntly like that, something so heavy - or heavy to him - that he hardly knew what to do it with.
His fingers twitched at his side, like he could decide whether he wanted to play the game or something else. 'Something else' won out. More than a little awkwardly, fumbling, like he was only half-sure how to even do it, he threw an arm around her side and squeezed, resting his head lightly against her shoulder - because she was entirely too ******** obnoxiously tall.
But still. The intent was clear.
Thank you.
"Course you can meet him," and he said it a little too roughly, deliberately allowing his hair to fall into his face as he eased away.
(Goddamn he ******** hated how stupidly sappy he got sometimes.)
Then that last bit, though - "Hey, shut the ******** up!! I handle my own ********' stick just fine!"

Oh...Oh dang. Jarias watched him struggle with something and then...She got a hug.
Wow was this real life? In all her years of friendship with Hitch, she had never gotten...a hug. A legitimate hug. She wrapped an arm around him and hugged him tightly
"Sure..yes you do." She laughed and then leaned back. "Can't wait to meet him. Wanna finish this game then, then we can drink and I'll send you home to your beau?" Plus, a pair of fantastically gorgeous women came in and either they were slumming or looking for a hot date. She sent a friendly smile to them, earning at least one of their considerations.

"Let's do it Wonder Woman."
(Y'know. Because Jarias was clearly an amazon. ******** look at her.)
One of the women was giving Jarias her considerations - and the other glanced in their direction and outright winked at Hitch. He gave her a glance, then pointedly ignored her, thinking idly to himself that if it had been a few months back, this might have been a completely different sort of night.
A smile lit his face at the thought - because really, he was glad things were different now. He was glad there was someone waiting for him at home.
