Ime met his lips without hesitation, forgetting for the moment that they were in public and surrounded by so many who could see. For now they didn't matter. Her Thorn had been hurt, but he had survived. Others had not been so lucky. His smile was so charming, his face so bright--
An interruption. Ime blushed violet and turned away, lifting a hand over her face. Oh my. How embarrassing. She could only turn up to see the man after a short while, and that was when she heard it. Thorn had fought for her homeland, for everyone, but had she heard him right? A thief? When the young stranger left Ime was staring up at Thorn, mouth slightly open.
Thief? "Thorn?"

"Ime." Thorn looked back to the stunned look on her face. Ah so the news of his profession had not gone over well. "My mother is a shawoman, my father is a thief. I never steal food." he bit his tongue not knowing what else he could tell her. "I was raised different from you. We er, looked at things differently, I don't know how to explain this. We never had very much we never stole more then we needed." "My family are kind of like edge drifters we usually don't stay in any one place long enough to build up much of anything so we don't put a material value on much except for a few precious items."

Thieving for food was one thing. If a family couldn't afford to eat, what else were they supposed to do? She couldn't hold that against him. He had also said that his father was a thief, however. Career thieves didn't make a living taking only as much as their family needed.
"You steal from people?" Ime pushed herself up on her forearms, still exhausted but feeling a certain horror creeping into her chest. How could he not have told her this? She knew he was a good person, knew he fought for good causes and helped others... but a thief? When they had first met, had that been an injury due to his profession? Had she really been so blind?

"Well yes, I do." He chewed on his lip. She had to know eventually and well it was best to be now before they ripped each others hearts out properly right? Then why did he feel so sick. "Ime I should have told you, I know that but I didn't want what I did to change what you felt about me, because I feel an awful lot about you." He should probably keep talking but with almost nothing coming from her end, which may or may not be good, he just wasn't sure what he could do.

Ime's face was fairly readable. Her brow was furrowed, her lips slightly parted, and she was looking down and out, more through the world than at anything in particular. He hadn't lied, per se, but he had definitely omitted personal information. He was right, he should have told her. He could say he loved her but he couldn't tell her he stole for a living?
Words were hard to come by. Her lips would begin to form a word and decide against it, relaxing and waiting for another. Finally she was able to look Thorn in the eye again.
"Food I can understand," she said. Food was required for survival. "But... when I found you. You'd taken that all, hadn't you?" He had paid for food and for lodgings, their first date of sorts, and she'd be willing to bet he hadn't earned it doing mercenary work.

"Nope I paid for all of that with my own funds, I gather food and fruit to sell too. There is a type of pear type fruit that mostly funded my personal monies. Stolen stuff gets traded or packed home so that it benefits the family first." It wasn't much but he had never spent stolen stuff on Ime. "And I never will if that is your wish, I can work ligitly, I have a strong enough back for it. Probably harder to be a thief. What I can do is be more selective..help people get their things back target other theives type of thing."

Ah, yes. She could remember Thorn's skills in fruit-gathering. That sort of made him part merchant too, didn't it? And his family was clearly his top priority. She could respect that in him, even if she didn't necessarily agree with his methods. To accept that her love was a thief was hard, but what really go therez was his sudden offer.
She hadn't had to ask. She hadn't had to suggest. Thorn had noted her disappointment on the subject and made his own offer. She smiled and caressed the side of his face, her tired eyes welling up with tears again. She laughed at herself and ignored the salty trails on her cheeks.
"I'd prefer that," she admitted. There was a brief pause, and then: "I can help support us, Thorn. I can help support your family back home too. Okay?" She sighed and snuggled back in again against Thorn's chest. "Is there anything else you want to tell me?" Because, boy, they'd might as well get it over with now.

"They take pretty good care of themselves for the most part, especially once those three young ones grow up. I'm not that worried about them." He was a little but nothing could really put his father out. The man was unstoppable. It felt wonderful to have her close again and he had only been deprived of the touch for a few minutes as they talked. He was worried she would get up and leave his lonely butt in the healing bed forever. "No my profession is the only shady part about me." He shrugged and settled back down to hold her. Now he was whole he could live easily with stealing from other thieves for the good of more. He wanted to know where they would go from here but he was too exhausted at the moment to ask. Probably home to her mother? Eh, he would go wherever she went. A large, conspicuous protector that really needed to brush up on his skills.

"That's good," Ime agreed with a nod. They would definitely be a bit low on the financial rung if she was expected to share her earnings with Thorn's family, but she would gladly have done it. She knew they likely survived by stealing but that was still a much more noble theft than stealing just because you felt like it.
One of Ime's hands remained by Thorn's face, stroking his cheek affectionately. While they lay there she felt her eyes growing heavier. What could a nap hurt? Just a little one. She'd been up so early in the morning for preparations and the need for healers was only just slowing down...
