Tera soon found himself walking around over the warm sand, pushing it aside with his feet and hands, then gave a thoughtful sound. Maybe... maybe he could use some magic to just nudge the sand out of the water so that he could find the shells more easily? Would that be considered cheating at finding shells or merely using making to make the task a less arduous one? He couldn't really say for sure. He didn't want to misuse his powers after all but at the same time if it meant that he could find more shells at a faster rate that would be a good thing, right? It would also allow Gael and himself to get to making things out of said shells more quickly. After a long, thoughtful moment, and the voice in his head laughing over his indecision, Tera shuffled over to his pack, digging around in it. Once he found the tome he was looking for he opened up to the page on simple, first level earth magic, and he went back into the sand once more. With book in hand he set to work casting the spell, using it to move aside the sand in layers, gathering the shells that looked right to him as he went. It felt a bit like cheating but if it helped them to get to the part where Gael showed him how to make things out of shells then it would be worth it! Though the voice in his head was only to happy to point out that Tera was merely making excuses for his cheating now. A comment that was ignored for the sake of Gael. The last thing he wanted to do was argue the point and look foolish in front of the other Matori man. "Alright, I got us some shells!" He said after a moment, closing his tome, tucking it under his arm before walking over to Gael to see if he approved of the shells that Tera had found for them.

Something caught his attention and he paused in his own search for shells to look up. What Gael saw was nothing short of amazing to him. He was not a magic user in any way so when he got the chance to see others use it, it always left him stunned. His orange tinted eyes blinked several times in a mixture of amazement and disbelief before he reacted to Tera as he spoke up and headed over to him. "That... was amazing. I don't get to see magic used that often." The young matori stared at the other male for a moment longer then shook himself mentally. Gael looked at the shells that had been collected and gave a short nod. "Those look good. We can definitely use them." He motioned for Tera to bring them over as he walked to a shady spot and sat so that he could empty his pockets of the shells he had collected. With all of them in front of him he started to go through them all and look for the best ones to use for Kani's trinket. "Look through them and find which ones you think your friend would like best."

"I'm still learning, so I am not as good at it as some I've seen. My teacher especially." He said in instant response, not exactly confident in his powers yet. He felt that he had to put a lot more time and effort into his magic before it became anything special. Still, it was nice to hear someone say that it was amazing... and one day soon he hoped to show his powers off to his friends. A shame that he didn't have the power to make finances disappear the voice in his head taunted Tera, a thought that he did his best to ignore since he would never wish ill upon Kyruie's intended.
Once Gael had looked the shells over, giving them his approval, Tera gave a bit of a smile, "I'm glad that they are something we can use." He said in a happy voice, glad that he'd been able to help. Now, to turn the shells into something special, into a gift for Kyruie and Ashta he thought to himself. The tough part being what shells he should use to make the gifts out of, "Hmm... let's see..." He found himself looking through the shells thoughtfully, inspecting each of them down to the very minuet details, before deciding upon them. He picked the more flat, circular sort of shells for Kyruie since the an was training to wield a shield. Shields were a thing used to defend those behind them and the shells, once made into a necklace, he hoped would be a charm. He'd offer a prayer to any of the Gods and Goddesses listening that the necklace might protect Kyruie if Tera himself couldn't. Once he was married there was a chance he might not see him again after all.
As for Ashta he picked out tougher looking shells, those that were twisted or had somewhat spiny looking bits. Ashta was a lot tougher, as well as pricklier, harder to approach and talk to. The shells were a bit like the man himself. Here was to hoping that the gift would bless him as well. Here was to hoping that Tera might be able to use said gift to get closer to him since it might end up with just the two of them soon enough. Once Kyruie was too busy being a husband to join them then it meant they would have to talk to each other eventually. The meeting with Gael to make these was a true blessing, possible from the Queen of the Gods? Hard to say for certain though since the God of Fortune might have had a hand in it as well.

"Even if you are still learning, it was really good." Gael didn't see a point in down talking one's abilities. After all, he couldn't have done such a trick. There was no magical bone in his body what-so-ever. When Tera started to pick out shells that he was going to use he watched him. The selection was interesting. Especially when he started to pick out shells that had points. It made the young matorian wonder about the person those particular shells were going to. As the comfortable silence filled the space he made sure that he had all the shells that he wanted to use for Kani's gift. As he did so he made a final decision on what he was going to make for her. A bracelet. "When you have all the shells that you want to use it helps if you lay them out in the pattern or design that you want. So if you are making a necklace then figure out how you want the shells to be in order." Gael used that trick to visualize what he was going to make. It made it easier on his creative eye to see how it would look when it was all done. This way he could make changes to it before it was already on a string.

Tera couldn't help but to flush a little at Gael's kind words, his fin ears twitching a little bit, "Thank you." He murmured, finding the other Matori man to be quite kind. It would be nice to deal with more people like him he thought to himself idly before his attention went back to the shells that he'd picked out from the bunch that he'd helped to gather up. He wanted to make something nice out of them, a nice gift for his two body guards. "Lay them out in pattern I want." He echoed, nodding his head before he set to arranging and then rearranging the various shells, looking for just the right patterns for them. He wanted them to be just right after all, not wanting for them to look terrible when he wanted Kyruie and Ashta to enjoy them... or at least like them to a degree. As if people like Ashta and Kyruie need shell necklaces for anything. It's not really a thing that either would be into. Grumblings from the voice in the back of his head, something that he did his best to push aside as he arranged the shells again and again before he finally found a pattern for each necklace that he liked. Lifting his gaze he looked to Gael, giving him a smile and a nod before he said, "I think I've figured it out."

When Tera flushed and his ears twitched, Gael noticed. It made him grin. "Heh. That's adorable." While he wasn't attracted to the male gender he couldn't help but find this male to be cute. Reaching toward Tera he toyed with the male's fin to see if it would twitch again. Either way he'd give a bit of a chuckle. "Sorry, its just that I've never seen someone twitch their ears for such a reason." After playing with the boy's ear he'd lower his hand and give him a solid pat on the shoulder. Now focusing on the task at hand Gael started to lay out the shells in a pattern that he thought Kani would like. Tera was finished before him since he was so indecisive about how to lay the shells. "Oh hey, that looks nice." As he spoke he paused in his own layout to reach into his pocket. From there he pulled out a small ball of thin, but strong string. "Here, use this to put them together. If you need to make a hole then..." He took out a small pick from the other pocket. "Use this." Gael smiled at him then looked down at his craft project.

Tera's blush seemed to spread as Gael poked at one of his ears, something that got the man the reaction that he was looking for, making it twitch again. It seemed that he'd never seen someone twitch their ears like that before... though Tera couldn't say that he'd noticed. Them twitching was a bit of an unconscious reaction to things after all. Giving a bit of a laugh, his cheeks a bit hot, he said, "I... well, it's just something they do of their own accord." He explained as Gael patted him on the shoulder. Ah well, at least it was something that Gael saw as 'adorable' instead of anything else, so he really wasn't in anyway worried about it. The voice inside the back of his head might be complaining a bit about the manner in which Gael touched him with such familiarity when they barely knew each other but it was a complaint that Tera couldn't care less about. It felt as though he was making another friend, one outside of Kyruie and Ashta, and that was something he rather like. Turning back to his shells, his flush fading away slowly, he gave a bit of a smile as Gael complimented the pattern he'd finally come up with, "Oh, thank you! I just hope that Kyurie and Ashta like them. They have been very nice to me all things considered, so I want to make them something nice!" He chirped happily, hoping that the shell necklaces went over well. Turning his full attention back to Gael he watched as the young man produced first some string, then a pick, explaining that it was how they would put the necklaces togehter. First they would make holes in the shells with the pick, then string them together, "Ohhh, I see. Alright! Do you want to go first so I can watch and get the hang of it?" Being able to watch Gael as he went about making the holes and then imitating the way he did it after felt like the best way to go about it. He didn't want to risk ruining the shells after all.

He couldn't help chuckling again when Tera blushed at the contact. Not because he was laughing at him but rather that he found it adorable again. "I am curious to know if mine do that now.." Gael reached up to touch his own fins. Of course since he was the one that was doing the touching his ears did nothing more than simply exist there. "Hmn." The curiosity in him commented. When his current companion asked to watch him before attempting it himself, the young man nodded his head. Gael could see where someone would want to see how it was done before trying it on their own. So he finished placing shells in order the way he wanted them, nodded his approval, then picked up the shell on the end to demonstrate. "Just remember to be easy with them. Shells are fragile when they want to be." And with a gentleness that he had come to realize he had, Gael was able to puncture through the small shell just enough to create the hole he needed for the string. "If you want you can practice on the remaining shells just in case. I broke a lot when I first tried." The words were soft spoken as he handed over the pick.

Tera gave a smile, "I will let you know if I see them twitch." He offered the other man, wanting to help out since it didn't seem to be doing too much as Gael poked at his own ears. There was a moment where he wondered if he should do it for him, to poke one of Gael's ears to see if there was any reaction. Tempting to be sure, but he should probably just keep watch and see if they reacted on their own. For a moment he found himself starring, at least until he was reminded that starring was impolite and wasn't about to win him any friends. Something that caused him to drop his gaze to the shells instead, watching as Gael went about the demonstration. Go easy on them, shells were fragile he thought to himself, givng a little nod. They reminded him a little of Kyruie he thought to himself for an idle moment before he turned his attention back to Gael, "Practive on the remaining shells? That's a really good idea. I'd hate to waste one of the ones meant for one of the necklaces." He murmured, giving Gael a smile. He seemed to be quite knowledgable when it came to crafting things out of shells, huh? Tera was certainly impressed, though it wasn't hard to do at times. Taking the pick that Gael offered him, as well as one of the extra shells, he set to work trying to make a hole. The first one didn't go well as it ended up with the shell breaking, the next few attempts produced another break and a couple cracks, but the last one resulted in a perfect hole. He gave a smile as he held it up to inspect it then said, "Now, to try to duplicate that same result again."

A smile formed. Well at least he had someone to let him know if his ears ever did something without his knowing. When he noticed that Tera was staring he glanced at the man to see if there was something wrong but he had dropped his gaze just as Gael looked up. This made him tilt his head as a questioning look formed on his face. Then he was distracted as the conversation went right back to the shells. "My friend taught me that trick actually. I kept breaking all the good shells that she wanted to use." The matorian gave a rueful smile at the memory. While Tera worked Gael watched. He didn't discourage him or even comment but simply observed. When a shell was finally punctured without breaking he nodded his head. "Good. Took you less shells than me." He jested. He only hoped he was being encouraging. There were times when he didn't portray what he wanted in his words.

After a couple more attempts, and Gael's kind words about him doing 'good', he finally attempted to make the holes in the shells that he wanted to use for the necklaces. It was something that had the Matori sweating a bit as he set to work. After each one he gave pause, sighing in relief, before moving onto the next one, "This is rather stressful work, huh? I bet it's worth it though when you get to give the presents you make to others, huh?" Here was to hoping that the ones he was trying to make came out well or else Tera might end up too embarassed to give them to his friends. As it was he wasn't sure if it was right of him to give a present to Kyruie since the man was engaged to someone. Would it look weird? Would the woman think Tera wanted to be more then a friend to Kyruie? That would be quite embarrassing and Tera was certain that his mother would be most displeased with him if he caused any scandals. Shaking his head rapidly to clear his thoughts he forced himself to focus, finishing up with the final shell, before he hadned the pick back to Gael, "Thank you very much for letting me use that. It was very kind of you." He said, lifting an arm so that he could wipe the sweat from his brow that had been caused by a combination of the heat and the stress he'd been under while drilling each individual hole. Not something he looked forward to doing again, so he was glad that he was done for the time being. "So now all we do is thread the string through the holes and the necklaces are done?" He asked of Gael, once more looking to him for instruction. So long as he followed all of Gael's instructions then everything should go swimmingly. At least that was what he was hoping for. After that it was just a battle with himself and his uncertainties about whether or not the necklaces would actually end up with the two that he was making them for.

His curious eyes watched as Tera made each hole in the shells. Gael wanted to make sure that he didn't fail and think it was hopeless. When he managed to make a good amount of holes in practice shells Tera went on to the actual shells he wanted to use and that made Gael give a nod and a somewhat more relaxed posture. Distracting himself he looked down at his layout for the bracelet he wanted to make for Kani and studied it. After a few moments he moved one shell away and replaced it with a more colorful one. It was the centerpiece to the whole thing and he wanted it to stand out in contrast to the rest. When he heard the voice of the Matorian beside him be looked up and grinned. "It can be stressful at times." Though he found that having something to focus on relaxed the mind a bit better than having nothing. After Tera finished and handed the pick back to him the aspiring guard nodded his head. "No problem. And yea.. you just need to string them together and tie knots if you don't want the shells to move." For a moment he wondered if his words would be understood as he picked up one of his shells to begin the drilling process.

Tera was glad to hear that he wasn't the only one who was getting stressed out over something as simple and plentiful as shells. If that were the case he would be a bit on the embarrassed side, especially when they were still at the beach and could easily replace the shells if any of the ones that they were using were to break. He'd made it through the drilling of holes without incident though so he wouldn't need to go scouring through the sand for a shell that would match the pattern that he'd made for each of his two necklaces. Instead his focus would now turn to the tying of knots to keep the necklaces together. It seemed to be the final step, right before the one that required he gave the necklaces away, but that was something he'd think about later. Right now he examined the shells, as well as the pattern they were in, before he said, "I think I should tie them to keep them in place. I don't want them sliding around and knocking into each other too much." If they didn't go clinking together then surely they would last longer, right? That was his hope at least as he turned to Gael once more, "How much string do you suggest?" He wanted enough that he could do all the knot work and still have enough that it was easy for someone to slip the necklace on over their head, but not too much that he wasted some of Gael's string. He really was being nice about sharing things, wasn't he? Meaning that Tera really should do something in exchange for Gael, it was only right. Giving a thoughtful sound, one finger tapping against his lips. Yes, he'd definitely need to do that, though not straight away. He wanted to think on a good 'thank you' gift after all.

"Tying knots is a good idea" He nodded his head in agreement. If he'd had the supplies he would have offered wooden beads as a buffer between the shells, sadly he hadn't brought any with him. "Oh, that.. well you need enough for the length you want the piece to be and then add in extra for the knots. So it's up to you." After all Gael wouldn't know how long Tera wanted the jewelry to be. If it was for a female then it would be shorter since they were more delicate. Males would need more string since they often times had big heads. Then again, Gael thought to himself, didn't woman wear hair accessories that got in the way of things. That gave him pause as he studied the string with a pondering look. Females may be more complicated than he thought. "I wouldn't dare to give more advice than that since I seem to just come to the conclusion that I know very little about male and female needs for these things." The young Matorian looked as though he'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar as he slowly looked down at his own shell design. "Now I wonder if Kani will like these shells..." There went all of his confidence.

Tera gave a thoughtful sound in his throat as the other said that the desired length of string was up to him, meaning that he had to decide this part on his own. It was something that had him starring at the string long and hard, as though said string would tell him what it was that he had to do, how much he needed, and the like. He'd gotten this far and he didn't want to mess up, nore did he want to waste any of Gael's string on failed attempts. After what felt like an eternity of thought, but was really just a moment of two, he finally cut himself two equal lengths of string, one for each necklace, and set to work on the first of the necklaces. He took it slow and steady, tying each knot carefully and securely, and from time to time lifting it up to make sure that it all looked right. "I... can't say I know much about it either. I just want to make them some presents as thanks for all they've done for me." Tera explained as he tied the knots, "I think Kyruie especially could use the present since he kind of has a lonely look about him if you catch him when he thinks nobody is looking... though I guess he won't be lonely long, I mean he is getting married soon..." So surely Kyruie would be happy then, right? He sure hoped so at least. Glancing toward the piece that Gael was working on Tera gave a smile and said, "I think it looks very pretty, I'm sure she will love it. Especially since it's something you're making for her by hand!" Surely the fact that Gael was putting it together with his own two hands would make it that much more special? At least he assumed so... but what did he know about girls? Little to nothing the voice in his head so helpfully answered the Tera's question. An answer that Tera chose to ignore for now.
