Rutile growled and then let out a strangled noise as he got a shoulder to the solar plexus and had the literal wind knocked out of him. The lanky man skid back a bit at that, doing absolutely no fancy flips to try to get distance. No, he straight up turned tail and ran until he jumped up to a roof to get the air back into his lungs.

Woo boy, this was going to be a tough fight. He sucked in a breath or two and then debated. Did he bolt? Could he? Would he have the time? Welp, he was sure probably going to try.

"ARE YOU SHITTING ME?" Eurydike bellowed as the ******** straight up turned around and started running away from him, and he started running after him up until he jumped up onto the roof. "You p***y a** piece of s**t!! Get your a** back here an' fight like a man!"

He cast a glance back behind him at Tolliver, because he couldn't really leave his half-drained boyfriend behind and defenseless on a ******** city street. Pissed as he was, Tolliver always was and would be his top priority.

But.

It didn't stop him from jumping as high as he ******** could and hurling the ******** bottle at the ******** as hard as he ******** could. It didn't even matter if it hit him or not - but fuuuuuuck he sure hoped it did.

And hit him it did.

Right in the face as he turned to look to see if the stupid senshi with the salt ring protection was following him. The rest of the bottle shattered as it hit his face, cutting it up around his eyes, cheeks, nose, chin, even his ears and throat a bit.

He was pretty sure he got glass in his eye. (He wasn't sure, he'd closed his eyes, but pretty he knew at least his eyelids got hit)

"s**t." And down he fell, jumping from this building to a shorter one, he fell mid-way and landed in the alley between the buildings. The lieutenant hissed and screamed, howled in pain and writhed. ******** could feel bleeding. ARGH! He was going to get that ********, and his stupid boyfriend!

This was going to be hard to explain to Azurite. He had to contact her, when he thought he could see.

Even before he hit the ground, he heard the shatter of glass - and then he heard howling nearby and grinned rather viciously, pumping his fist in a show of victory. "Serves you right you stupid b***h!" he snarled at the top of his lungs, flipping off the general area where he'd heard the screaming even if he knew the a*****e wouldn't see it.

Still made him feel great though, because no one ******** deserved it more. Anyone who ******** with Tolliver -

Tolliver.

He turned and ran back to the circle of salt, and abruptly all traces of anger were gone as Eurydike kneeled down beside his lover - even if he didn't know it - with a flutter of his cape, a hand on his shoulder. Now, he was just worried, worried and soft and his voice was gruff but silky sweet as he asked him, "You okay Tolli - " Too late he remembered, secret identity or whatever, and he probably shouldn't know his name at all, <********>, " - ver? Tolliver?"

The entire time the fight was going on, Tolliver just sat there stupidly, mouth ajar, and tried to block out the sounds of smashing glass and footsteps, his shaking hands raised to press over his ears, eyes squeezed shut. It probably wasn't the best method, but he couldn't stop trembling

The touch to his shoulder made him jerk and gasp, and his head snapped up, eyes wide. There were tears glinting at the corners of his eyes, and Tolliver felt his chest constricting, his palms scraping the ground as he lowered them, trying to shift.

"What - what - how do you know my n-name?" he stammered out, and his mouth burned where he'd been kissed, tasting like acid. "What - who was that, who are you?"

Even if he knew the glamour or whatever it was would make it so Tolliver didn't recognize him, secret identities and all that magical bullshit - it was still kind of weird to have it in action, his boyfriend and by far the most important person in his life staring at him like he had no idea who he was. Because he doesn't dipshit. It's ********' better that way.

"I, uh - " Scenarios ran through his head, each progressively more stupid and ridiculous, until, "I've helped your stupid boyfriend out. You're all he ********' prattles on about." He made a face, and it wasn't a ... total lie, he guessed? Sort of? "I'm Eurydike, by the way - senshi of salt; I won't hurt you. We're the good guys here, promise, " and he wanted to hug him. He wanted to wrap his arms around Tolliver so ******** tight and kiss his tears away and tell him it was going to be alright.

He pursed his lips and tried to steel himself, brows furrowing. "That guy was part of the negaverse. Real assholes they are. Prone to drainin' people an' basically ********' all kinds of s**t up. Bad news, all of 'em." But on to more important business. "Are you okay? That ********, he drained you, took some of your energy. Did he hurt you?" He extended a gloved hand to his lover, although Tolliver wouldn't and couldn't know it, palm up - an unspoken offer to help him up.

Tolliver opened his mouth and shut it again, his face turning scarlet. This - whoever he was - had helped out Hitch? And Hitch had talked about him enough for his name to be remembered? He felt the flush decorating his face, Tolliver's expression a mixture of startled confusion and embarrassment, as well as, stupidly, warm pleasure.

He swallowed hard. "I..." Tolliver stammered, and then stopped. He didn't understand what was being told to him, but he did at least understand that this man, whoever he was, had just saved him from the other, the one who had - had kissed him -

The hand was given a wary, almost frightened look; but after a second, biting his lip, Tolliver accepted it, his palms stinging from where they'd scraped against concrete. He couldn't quite stop the wince that spread across his face at the gesture.

"N-no," he said, and it still felt rather hard to breathe. "He just - he just - "

He couldn't say it, disgust coiling in his stomach.

There was a part of him that was stupidly tempted just to drop the whole senshi thing when Tolliver looked at him like that, with fear in his eyes, because he knew if his lover knew who was behind the stupid headband all the fear would be washed away.

Fortunately, the fear faded - although less fortunately, it was replaced by a wince, and instantly Eurydike had gently flipped Tolliver's hand in his, frowning deeply at the scrapes he saw there and gritting his teeth. Maybe he should've gone after the ******** after all -

It'd become such a habit with Tolliver, such a common, easy thing, that he didn't really think much of the way his lips brushed lightly against the abused skin of his palms until it was too late and then there was no ******** taking it back. "Sorry; didn't mean to hurt you, " he murmured, trying to play it off as though it was nothing even if his cheeks burned red from shame.

Stupid. Stupid. Why am I so ********' bad at this?!

But then, Tolliver was getting caught up in his own words, and Eurydike knew - he knew what that guy had just done, and the anger in the pit of his stomach nearly bubbled over again. "It's ********' terrible, what he did - I been there, " and he thought back to the corrupt kissing him in the park that night with a shudder, "But it ain't your fault - an' we should get you home where it's safe an' you can guess your boyfriend all ********' night to make up for it."

He tried to flash his lover a smile. How well it went over, well... "You live far? - I can give you a lift? I'm stronger than I look, y'know."

The hand that held his was gentle, in spite of Tolliver being unable to hold back the second wince that went across his face. He could feel the warmth even through the gloves, and it was rather steadying, almost reassuring, and he started to feel himself relax -

- and then he was - he was kissing his palm, lips soft and gentle against the scrapes, and Tolliver froze where he stood, eyes wide, his heart beating a million miles a second. He seemed unable to even move, or even think, Tolliver staring at the man with utter shock and confusion, a deepening red flush creeping over him, and -

- why wasn't he pulling away? Tolliver shivered violently, a half strangled gasp for air as panic rose in his throat. He tugged at his hand until it was free, holding it against his chest and still staring, still trying to figure out what had just happened, why there had been such gentleness in that action at all.

It felt too intimate, too soft, too tender. Tolliver felt as though he was about to faint.

"I - I want to go home," he whispered, and it was almost desperate sounding, tears starting to glimmer in his eyes. "I just - I live o-over there, and I j-just want to get h-home - "

He needed to be home, needed to be away, needed to be anywhere but here.

God I'm such a ********' idiot.

Eurydike fiddled idly with his piercing between his teeth for a moment before clearing his throat, his hand dropping at his side, fingers curling and uncurling. It was a strange feeling, having Tolliver pull away from him - but it wasn't like it was his fault. He didn't know, he wasn't supposed to know. But he still kind of hated it; he was supposed to relieve Tolliver's anxiety, not accidentally set it off.

Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid.

There was a brightness in his eyes, and the senshi winced, more visibly than he wanted, fingers uncurling and then curling again, tight enough for nails to bite into his palm.

Oh ********, no, don't cry baby, please don't cry -

"Don't worry. I'll take you home, " and no matter how much Eurydike was beating himself up mentally, outwardly his voice was the same well of warmth and reassurance it always was. "Just, uh - " They weren't exactly close to home, and he couldn't exactly ask his lover to walk after all this. (What the hell was Tolliver even doing all the way out here?)

"Sorry, " he grunted simply, but softly and sincerely, before leaning down, catching Tolliver behind the knees and sweeping him gently, easily into his arms, bridal style. "This'll be over quick, promise."

There was something strangely reassuring about the sound of the man's voice, though Tolliver couldn't have said how or why. He still didn't trust any of it - any of the things that had happened over the course of the past twenty minutes, but this man had just saved him, hadn't he..? He owed him, somehow.

A soft, startled squeak escaped Tolliver as he was suddenly lifted, and his immediate reaction was to tense, his body trembling, hands shaking so violently that he had to twine them together to keep them from showing, his chest tight. His heart was beating a million miles a second, and all he wanted to do was go home, curl up with Hitch, and sleep for the next twenty-four hours.

Slowly, he leaned against the man, because Tolliver was exhausted, because his mind could not settle, because he still had no idea what was happening - but he'd been promised to be taken home, hadn't he? And here he was - hopefully - back to where he belonged.

"T...thank you," Tolliver mumbled, half asleep already.

His heart warmed as he felt Tolliver slowly relax in his arms, resting against him, trusting him even if he didn't seem like himself - even if he was Eurydike instead of Logan. He resisted the urge to hold his lover closer, to kiss his hair and reassure him.

"It's nothin'."

Well.

He stared down at Tolliver tucked in his arms, drifting off already, so drained - in every way, from the stress and from what the lieutenant had done to him.

Maybe a little reassurance wouldn't kill him.

"It's goin' to be alright. Soon this'll all be like some bad dream."

Eurydike didn't walk. That would've been too open, too exposed with Tolliver in his arms, and he really didn't need to ******** around with any other officers tonight. So instead he leapt, surprisingly smoothly, heading back up for the rooftops to make for an easier run home.
