Winta was admittedly entirely ignorant about what had occurred with the slaves of Oban other than knowing it had occurred. ”If you’re sure, then okay!” She agreed, not thinking to add more to the topic in regards to why he felt the shoes would work or the link to shoes and his past.
At his response she frowned, once more trying to imagine getting taken by strangers but failing to do so. It was far beyond what her mind could imagine. ”I’m so sorry. I agree though, maybe its better to not remember.” She nodded in response. Although, Winta couldn’t help but remember if there were certain things that should have been remembered but weren’t. It was a tough situation all around. At his next words Winta stopped walking and looked at him. In all honesty, she kind of wanted to cry for Dex which coming from her was unusual. Winta had lost her own parents when she was young so it was very easy for her to imagine the hole that was left in its wake, however, Dex didn’t seem to remember them. Winta didn’t notice his own tears but she sniffed. ”Dexurn, I’m so sorry. I lost my parents when I was younger and I know all to well how it feels.” Winta didn’t know that his loss extended to his aunt and master.
”Maybe some sturdy shoes just in case we have to walk over a rocky landscape. If there’s lots of water then no shoes or sandals should work.” Winta added, going easily along with the change of subject, her pace resuming. ”I usually wear these wraps but I don’t think they will work well with the landscape.” She paused. ”I could be completely wrong though.”

Dex squeezed his eyes shut a moment, though kept his legs moving. There was no crying except in private around the other slaves unless someone wanted him to cry... and that was never good. He briefly pondered the comparison of remembering and forgetting. ..He wouldn't mind losing a couple memories...
He faltered slightly when Winta spoke of her loss, hearing her steps pause. So, she remembered her parents? ..He probably sounded silly to her, talking about losing someone he didn't remember. To voice the losses of those he did remember would be too much for him to bear at the moment, though.
Instead, he smiled and turned to Winta with a nod. "Let's get the sandals just in case then. At the least, we can keep them safe and sell or trade them later."

Winta was oblivious to what was going on with Dexurn and just continued on her way. ”Yeah. Based on my experience walking through the Sauti mountains it's always better to be prepared.” She said with a shiver. If she ever went through those mountains again, it would be too soon.
”How's this shop look?” Winta asked as they reached the far end of a store that seemed to hold a variety of items, although she had no idea if any were what they needed. ”Seems like it might be a good place?” She asked, looking to Dexurn for agreement. Cornetified Maybe we can get this done tonight?

Letting out a slow breath, Dex focused on Winta speaking. The Sauti mountains? He'd hear travelers discuss their difficulties traversing the land. He wasn't so sure he'd ever want to head that way.
Brow rising, he looked over to the indicated store and smiled. "Looks like we can find anything in there," he said with a hopeful nod. They would have to be careful about what they bought though! Limited funds, after all. Walking to the door, he automatically pulled it open to let Winta walk through first; partially out of habit, and partially because she knew better than he did what they were looking for.

Winta didn't lift an eyebrow about the door opening part of the shopping trip but then again she tried really hard not to. Dexurn was a nice guy and while she might have otherwise said he didn't need to, she didn't. ”Okay. Then I'll go ahead and grab some shoes that fit and maybe you could look for a couple wraps?” She asked, pointing to the the right where the bandages were and then to the far back where the shoes were located. ”Meet back up here?”Cornetified You're post will finish it.

Walking in after Winta, Dex took a moment to orient himself with the store's layout. He was to pick out the wraps then. An easy enough task. "I can do that." Looking to Winta, he gave her an excited grin before heading to the wraps. Their adventure would be starting soon! ..Really, it already had.
