Username: Geyser Eelborn Nightmare: Eidil Prompt Answer: Eidil was excited to be taking a Care of Magical Creatures class. Their first assignment sounded easy--Eidil had always loved animals, and her family had plenty of pets. She herself had quite a few nezubats! But today was not looking like an easy day for her. The flitterrat spent the entire night in its den--it wouldn't come out for food or for water. She checked on it constantly, but she couldn't tell any more than the fact that its chest was still rising and falling. All throughout the next day, before the next time the class met, the young demoness fretted about how to take care of the little creature. How could she? It just wouldn't come out! She was in danger of failing, and she hated that...
She took the cage to Mr. Sirius and summoned all of her courage. "Sir, I would like another chance to make the flitterrat happy. I failed last night, but I think I know what I did wrong. May I have another chance?"

Username: Geyser Eelborn Nightmare: Eidil Prompt Answer: The next evening went better. This time, Eidil spent as much of the next day socializing with the little flitterrat as possible. She fed it treats, held it to her chest to warm it up, and played with it. She offered it twigs and pieces of cardboard to chew. This time, it seemed much happier! She was actually sad to turn it back in to the teacher, but she knew this was for the best. She smiled at Siris and thanked him again for giving her another chance.

Username: Geyser Eelborn Nightmare: Callessa Prompt Answer: Animals were not normally Cal's thing, but spending time with her best friend (and crush) Eidil? Definitely Cal's thing. So she signed up for Care of Magical Creatures at the same time Eidil did, and luckily managed to land in her friend's same class. Their assignment was to take a flitterrat home and take care of it for the night. Great. Just what Cal needed. Another class in which she took care of her teacher's precious boo! But she went at it with the same determination she had given to the second plant in herbology, spending time with the flitterrat and keeping it fed and entertained. She didn't do as well as Eidil's second go with the rat, but she was pretty sure she'd done a decent job. She turned in her rat and waited for the grade.

Username: Tangled Puppet Nightmare: Decran
Prompt Answer: Decran stared at the small cage sitting on the table in his dorm room. The flitterat inside stretched it’s wings out and made a small chirrup sound, as if asking to be let out. Tilting his head, Decran frowned. He had never been a fan of the creatures — a small nuisance, if you asked him — but his assignment for the class was to care for just such a creature. At the sound of a small mew Decran glanced down, eyebrow raising. “Hello there.” He bent down and scooped Ceri, his fennekit, up. Scratching between her ears, Decran turned back to the cage and the flitterat sitting inside. Another mew made him snort out a laugh. “No, you can’t eat it.” He gave his fennekit another pet before sitting her back down onto the floor and moving to open the cage. Reaching in, he pulled the flitterat out and examined it.
What did one do with such a familiar? Decran blinked when the creature flit its wings and lifted up out of his hands. He watched as it plopped back down into his hand and couldn’t help but let another small chuckle escape his lips. He knew the creatures could fly — sort of — but had never actually seen one do so in person. Curious, he sat the flitterat down on the table and moved backwards some and sank down to the floor. Instantly, Ceri was rubbing against him and attacking his tail. He absently flicked it back and forth, keeping her distracted as he held up his hands and encouraged the flitterat to come to him.
It took some coaxing but finally the creature pushed off, flapped its wings, and glided over to him. Decran’s grin spread across his face as the flitterat landed in his hands and a curious Ceri peeked around his side and sniffed the air. They spent the rest of the evening playing and by the time it was time to put the thing back into it’s cage, Decran had taught it a new trick — sitting on command.
Ceri and him settled down for the night and the next day Decran was happy to report back to Sirius and tell him about what all had happened with the flitterat the evening prior, and was even more proud to show off the trick to his teacher. The experience, it seemed, had changed Decran’s opinion on the small creatures.

Username: itsie bitsie spider Nightmare: Malachi
Entry: Oh this class was so exciting! Not only did he get to learn about caring for creatures, now he was going to get to share his Chester with his teacher. Goodness... he sure hoped he wasn't going to have to show the class his picture. Malachi never felt confident in his drawing skills. Humming quietly to himself, he drew with his markers as he worked to capture his little rat buddy.
Finally finishing his drawing, he got up, eyes peering down at it as he went to turn it in. Surprisingly enough Malachi actually found himself proud of this one. He couldn't wait to show it to Chester later.

Username: SpuddyZombie Nightmare: Eileen Prompt Answer:Eileen grabbed her first assignment and scanned the paper, while a smile ran across her face. I know just the familiar, she thought to herself.
Main facts about the flitterat is that you have to give them attention, or at least give them another playmate so they wont get bored. Another fact is you can train flitterats to perform tricks with treats. And lastly, they are known to chew through everything. You must have a cage where they can't just chew through.
Feeling confident of her answers, she quietly got up and place her paper on the teachers desk.

Username: Natsuko-neko Nightmare: Shannon Prompt Answer:She would get to take home a familiar for the night? Shannon was so very excited for that. When it was her turn she collected the little Flitterat and carefully took it home with her. She set it up in a nice area where it could be by the window and went to her text book to reread the information on the familiar. All throughout the night, up until the time she had to go to bed, she continued to play with it off an on. When she brought it back to the class room the next day she had a grin on her face and a promise in her heart that one day soon she would get a familiar or two of her own.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Nightmare: Maeva Prompt Answer: Well, Maeva certainly wasn't going to get a good grade from this assignment with the way things had gone. Shannon had brought home one of the flitterrats as well and had done a great job taking care of it. With her two pumpka's, Maeva wasn't able to dedicate as much time to taking care of her 'rat. In fact, between the two of them, they'd kept her running around all night and she'd barely had enough time to feed and water the rat. It was no wonder it didn't look very happy with her. Hopefully she could have another chance at this.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Nightmare: Maeva Prompt Answer: The second night trying to make this flitterrat happy went no better than the first. She managed to get Shannon to help her keep the pumpkas out of trouble, but she got caught up doing her homework that she barely played at all with the little critter. Hopefully Sirius wouldn't get mad at her. She had two familiars, she knew how to take care of them! With a sigh her shoulders drooped. She would just have to try again.

Username: Random Nobody 13 Nightmare: Maeva Prompt Answer: The third night Maeva set it up so she would have plenty of time to take care of the flitterrat. Her roommates were set to watch Kaii and Kou and she'd done her best to finish all her homework before classes were over. All she had to do was keep the flitterrat happy for the one night. She could do this!
Thankfully this night went off without a hitch. Maeva made sure he familiar had treats and food and had fun playing with it. It was kind of. . cute. By the end of the night, while it wasn't as happy as Shannon's, it seemed much better than the last couple nights. Perhaps flitterrats just weren't the pet for her. She didn't have any trouble with pumpkas thankfully. Turning in her now happy pet let a sigh of relief slip out her lips.

Username: Ember-babe Nightmare: Aten
Prompt Answer: Aten had spent some time trying to decide on which familiar to write his facts on. There was, quite frankly, too many to choose from. In the end, he decided on the Salamander.
The Salamanders are good for low maintenance owners. They don't require a lot of attention and are fairly laid back in their behaviors. These creatures come from dark swamps. Even with their fiery tails they are not opposed to being touched and held by their owners. It is said that salamanders are rather ambivalent towards their owners, but when feeling threatened their naturally cool and magically ornate tails will suddenly grow hot, causing potential burns to owners if mistreated.
Aten walked up to the teacher, and with a small smile handed in his assignment.

Username: Delicate Rose Bud Nightmare: Joseth
Prompt Answer: Joseth picked up his prompt and immediately thought of the little Jackalope pet, Jack. He racked his brain, thinking about the small booklet of facts he was given after inquiring about the race when he found his tiny companion. What he could remember off the top of his head was that Jackalopes ate dried grasses and food pellets, loved fresh veggies as treats, and are very hard to train because of their unfortunate status on the food chain causing them to act skittish. Joseth jotted these points down and handed his paper in, wondering what other familiars his classmates wrote about.
