Nightmare/Daydream: yami
Prompt:
Quote:
The teacher has tasked the class with mastering "Spell Mimic." In order to do so, he's set up the class in groups of two or three. One student will cast any spell they know, the other must mimic it. Spell Mimic uses the Casting method, so your student must be able to remember how to properly Cast the spell- this may be done verbally, or with a specific motion that the teacher has gone over with the class.
Write a 250 word minimum response from the perspective of your student's experience with the assignment. You do not have to actually team up with another person to do this - feel free to use NPCs.
NOTE: Roll 1 d100, if you roll 45 or above, you may add the spell "Spell Mimic" to your student's personal spell book! If you do not roll, it is assumed that your student did not learn the spell (they still pass the class). You may reroll until you learn the spell, but each roll must contain a roleplay response. Only the success roll must be 250 words.
Prompt Response:
He didn’t like to admit it but yami was letting the class get the better of him. Illusion just wasn’t for him. He liked to think he was a level headed person. He had to be vanna's advisor and foil in a way and make sure no rash decisions were made. Still eventually he too had limits and well no matter how hard he tried this spell never seemed to click with him. Maybe it was the different races that made up his physicology or what but it was getting extremely frustrating. It felt like every time he got close the spell would slip through his fingers. It was then that some one suggested he change partners and try one last time. Thinking nothing would come from it yami did so and watched as his new partner did a simplier spell that yami was in fact able to copy. Then they took it up a notch and using the formula from earlier yami copied it again. It went back and forth this way yami building upon what he had last did to mimic a more complicated spell. He knew it would never be as powerful as the original spell but it was about bluffing. He was getting the hang of it now and some of his temper trailed off now that he had accomplished the spell. He wasn’t quite yet sure the activation was worth it but to he had almost walked out. Then again he was pretty sure most people would have, magic could definitely be frustrating work.
