Horace plucked up a flower with golden leaves and opal-looking petals. He pocketed it without a second thought. Finders keepers. "Still ******** itchy. I'll probably have to take five showers." He frowned. "You're fine?" +$150Horace stepped forward, out of the glittering room, and looked between two hallways. "C'mon, we have covered enough ground to head out, soon." He stepped into the left hallway, freezing as he heard a soft click. Suddenly, a wall slid down behind him. Horace stood silent for a moment, shocked. Then his hands slammed on the wall. "Oliver? Oliver, can you hear me?!" Quote: As you step forward, you hear an ominous click, followed by a thud. A wall has slid down between you and your teammates. The next prompt you roll must be acted out alone. Likewise, for the next full round, the next prompts your teammates do will not include you. Afterwards, you follow the curve of the hall and run into your team there.

"Y-yeah, um... I'm not itchy at all," Oliver replied, nervously poking Horace's arm with a cotton swab that had suddenly appeared in his hand. It was dropped into a small vial procured just as mysteriously, and then sealed and shoved in his bag. He didn't waste any time with the action, but Horace had longer legs, and when the wall clicked and slid closed, it was too sudden for Oliver to follow. He darted forward, and pressed his hands against the wall. "Y-yeah, I'm okay... b-but I can't t see anything to open the wall, p-please tell me you are okay?" He stammered, taking a step backwards. As he scanned the nearby area looking for some switch or something to reverse the shifting passage, he felt a sense of deja vu wash over him. It was like he had been in that situation before, trapped and alone. The freckled boy wasn't surprised, being trapped and alone was a recurring theme in his nightmares. 6, 16, 20, 9 20. Nothing in particular happens, but you feel a strange, unsettling sense of deja vu. But you've never been here before...

Quote: 17 - Suddenly, a flock of birds rushes at you, their jewel-toned wings beating at your face and eyes. If you are able to look closely, you might notice extra wings, extra eyes, extra heads. If you wish, roll 1d20 to capture one as a sample. You must roll 15+ to succeed. "Yeah, I'm alright - just keep going Oliver. I'll find a way to meet up." As he spoke, Horace moved away from the wall. He strode down the hall, poking his head in through doors to see if they held anything of interest. He rubbed his hand over his face and opened another door. fwooshA flock of birds, underground. flew at him, their many wings flapping wildly around him.

Horace reached up, trying to capture one. He could see their unnatural eyes and toothy beaks (and that was ******** weird, by the way - like evil crow/geese hybrids... Could you call a bird hybrid a hybird?), and thought capturing one would be useful for study. But he was not quick enough; they pecked at his fingers and flew away, leaving nothing behind, not even a stray feather. It was as though they had never existed in the first place. Horace swore loudly.

Just... keep going? Wasn't this how everyone died in horror movies, getting separated and then picked off one by one? Oliver was definitely not okay with this course of action. "O-okay... I g-guess..." He muttered, slowly and carefully trying another path. He was reluctant to leave the blocked passageway, but at least the next room over was a small one. It reminded him of the decorated room, except simple, an ornate little table with a bowl of fruit. Oliver was not for a second tempted to even touch the fruit let alone eat it. Even if he appreciated fruit prior to being rendered into conveniently packaged fruit snacks, his stomach was too tied up in knots, and his suspicions were too high. He tiptoed past the display, and peeked nervously into the next hallway. 6, 16, 20, 9 9. There is a finely-wrought iron table of glistening, appealing fruit propped up against one wall. However, if you choose to bite into a piece, you find the fruit is nothing more than wax mixed with dust. Still, it tastes and smells faintly like the fruit it is modeled after.

Oliver may have tiptoed nervously about, but Horace strode forward, eyes on his SPECTRE watch. He was debating furiously if this was enough. He was itchy and cold and one of the birds had left a scratch on his cheek. Which also itched. Maybe Oliver would just portal out and leave him here. Horace shook his head. Nah. He was so engrossed in his watch's display that when the two hallways merged seamlessly, Horace barreled right into Oliver. "Ow."

Oliver yelped as he was "ambushed" and staggered back, immediately clapping both hands across his own mouth to stifle the surprised noise. His eyes began to water slightly, though not from being bumped into. "H-Horace... I-I'm s-so glad... y-you..." The young man trailed off, impossibly relieved that they had found each other after such a brief absence. He really was awful on missions, wasn't he? Getting so nervous after being split up for only a short time... Suddenly he froze, another possibility coming to mind. "H-Horace... um... who t-took the bed... that one night...?" Oliver stared with nervous determination, he had to be sure.

Horace backed up slightly, hands flying up into a defensive position, before realizing it was Oliver. He dropped his hands exhaling slowly. Oliver's question made him pause, a frown crossing his face. He immediately realized the why of Oliver asking, and it was damn smart. There were clones around every corner it seemed. But Horace couldn't quite remember. Although he had a photographic memory for read text and maps, remembering actual events was harder. Horace stumbled over his words. "Uh.... uh, I... I think you were adamant about me sleeping on the bed.. and.... Jesus, Oliver, couldn't you have picked an easier question? I think we mighta ended up sharing, but ******** if I know for sure."

"What would an easier question prove!" Oliver yelped in reply, keeping that intense focus up if only for a moment before his gaze dropped down to his hands, fingers nervously entwined in each other. The answer was close enough, although the boy remembered that night for other reasons than who slept in the bed. He really should have chosen something more specific than one night Horace stayed over, but it was the first thing that had come to mind. With the stress of the situation, he was lucky anything had come to mind at all. Oliver rubbed his eyes quickly to keep the tears from spilling. "A-are we ready t-to leave now?" he asked quietly, the hiccup in his voice completely giving away his struggles to keep all his emotions under control. His independence and quick thinking might have lived up to his rank, but his nervous temperament completely unravelled his competence. Being separated, being reunited, being potentially fooled by a lookalike, it was too tense for the lab geek who rarely left the island.

"Next time just ask me to summon real quick," Horace said, reaching up to ruffle Oliver's hair briefly. "Even if this is all stealth, you gotta check and a weapon check is good as any." The hand slid to Oliver's shoulder and stayed there in what Horace hoped was some sort of reassuring comfort for his friend. He looked at his watch. It tracked the distance covered, mapping out the edges in what Horace guessed was some fancy form of radar. He frowned for a second - they hadn't really traveled far enough, but... It was acceptable. He pressed a button on his watch using his nose, turning the display off. "Yeah, this is fine. Let's head back, Oliver. Wanna get food on the way?"

Oliver nodded, not even protesting the hair ruffle in his current emotional state. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and after a moment of bundling all the feelings back up, he felt a little more ready to move on. He looked a bit more ready as well, there was no wibbling or quivering, and his expression was calm. "I-I don't know about any food between here and the island..." he replied, with no more than his usual doubt regarding unfamiliar food. "I have some starburst candies in my bag though..."

He frowned at the mention of candy. Horace wanted to talk to Oliver before he was back in Belgium and Oliver all the way on the island. "Nope. We're going to a diner or some equivalent." They could make a pitstop somewhere in Europe.

Oliver began looking even more uncertain. "They have... diners in China?" He asked, doubt written all over his face. He was all for simple, conventional diner fare, but if he couldn't order a cheeseburger he would be in trouble ordering anything at all.

"We're going to Europe, Oliver." He tugged on the strap of Oliver's bag and grinned. "Don't worry; I'm not taking you anywhere weird."
