Pale, injured, and bleeding; that's what Pavo's magic painted in the mind's eye. She didn't blame Oort for not knowing what was going on, if he'd suddenly looked like he'd been shoved in front of a bus, she'd have been concerned as well. The bear was still coming, but dark eyes flicked from it to the kid as he called out, and brows arched, curiously, as he came 'round to stand in front of her and showed her a key. "What are you..." She didn't need to finish her question, the answer came a second later in the form of a very noticeable boost in strength and stamina. "Oh my." That was handy! A ball of dirt exploded against the bear youma and it gave an irritated howl, attention shifting from her to the chibi, and Pavo set into motion, trying to drag it back onto herself with a heavy right hook to it's snarling face. "You'll leave him be," she told it, uselessly, as it shook it's head and howled at her, bringing a massive paw back for a heavy swat of sharp claws.

Oort had been hoping to get the bear monster thing in the eyes, but at least he had managed to land a direct hit on it with the ball of dirt.
He had also managed to shift its attention firmly on him as with a howl it turned its malevolent black eyes on him...
But before it could do more than turn its head towards him, Pavo was there as she swung out at the monster in a jingle jangle of jewellery and chimes.
It seemed to like that even less than it had liked his dirt ball as it raised a claw-tipped paw and he yelled out at Pavo "Watch out!"
Throwing a second ball of dirt was kind of out because if he did that then he might hit Pavo and not the monster - but there was a bush not too far away and whilst it wasn't as good as a real stick, it would just have to do.
He ran over and pulled a nice long leafy bit from it and then ran back to where Pavo and the monster where and tried to hit the bear monster in the back with the bit of bush.

The warning, though appreciated, was unneeded. Pavo could see the rising claw. It was right there in front of her face. Luckily, the youma didn't appear to be terribly quick. It swung, and the nimble dancer had time to jerk back and away, slipping just out of reach long enough for the claws to pass, then zip forward again, this time swinging with her left fist. Knuckles connected, and the gross creature reeled back, saying on it's feet before lumbering forward with a furious snarl. It was hard to tell if she was hurting it, or just pissing it off. A shower of green leaves fluttered over the youma's shoulders as her young cohort assaulted the thing with a branch. Apparently he'd found the stick he'd wanted. "Good, Oort! But be careful please!" With two targets now, instead of one, the beast didn't know who to focus on. It howled, swiping back at the Chibi wildly, but Pavo was there to drive her heel into the thing's side.

The branch wasn't one that Oort would have personally chosen because it was too leafy with not enough stick - but it wasn't as if the monster had given him enough time to go and properly stick hunt because there was no way that he was going to let Pavo face the thing on her own.
Because good superheroes didn't do that sort of thing and Oort was doing his best to be the bestest superhero.
Fortunately the thing didn't manage to get Pavo, although it was hard to tell whether that was because of his warning or not.
The monster half-turned, just as Pavo called out for him to watch out, but Oort was able to move back enough out of reach of those wickedly sharp claws so that all that happened was that a few more leaves got shredded.
Stupid branch.
Pavo moved in and planted a heel of one of her shoes into the monster bear, setting the jewellery around her foot a-tinkling as the the thing howled.
Not to be outdone, Oort moved in to swing the branch at the monster again, causing it to howl again as the partially shredded top jabbed into its other side.
It sure was howling a lot and Oort was hoping that the howling meant that they were getting closer to making it do the dust-thing like the other monsters.

They were making it angry now, but it also seemed that perhaps they were getting the best of it as well. It was howling mad, but Pavo would swear the things was beginning t slow down. When it swiped, the claws did not come nearly a close as they had the first time. And of course, having two targets instead of one could only work in their favor. "A little more, Oort," she urged, bringing a delicate fist back to deliver another strike to the beast's howling maw. She wasn't a fighter--had never been, nor ever would be--but she was quick, and she had a certain desire to continue on living that made her rather resourceful. "Strike it again, Oort!"

In spite of the jingle-jangle stuff Pavo was really, really good at this Oort decided as he saw her dart in and swing at the monster again from the corner of his eye.
The monster bear retaliated by trying to lash out with a clawed paw, but it didn't seem to be as quick as before, even if the howling did seem to be getting louder.
Oort didn't really need Pavo's urging as he was already moving in again with the intention of swinging his branch at the the monster again - only swinging seemed to be kind of counter-productive with all the leafy stuff that had been cut off and so he tried poking the monster with the sharpened end as hard as he could.
It seemed to do the trick, one last attack on top of all the others from the senshi and the chibi as the monster let out one last howl and then it was doing the dust-thing that the other monsters had done leaving the two of them once again alone.

One more solid poke was all the bear beast needed before it was collapsing into a pile of ash, swirling around their ankles as the breeze caught and carried it. Pavo stepped away from it, hands balling into her skirt to keep the hem from dragging through it. "Disgusting alive, and disgusting dead. They are truly vile, are they not?" It was the first time Pavo had had any contact with a youma. A rather gentle introduction, all things considered. The fight hadn't been terribly difficult, even with neither her nor her new young friend possessing anything by way of offensive magic. Lips pursed, she looked down at Oort. "You're alright?" He looked unharmed, and she didn't recall him taking any damage as they fought with the youma, but she asked to be sure.

Oort considered it for a moment "It was pretty icky" he agreed. "I'm okay though."
He looked at Pavo "Are you okay?" Because there had been a point where she hadn't looked so good, although - and he gave her a considering look to make sure - she was looking much better now.
And then because he was impressed and he felt it needed acknowledging "By the way you were really, really good at making the youma do the dust thing."Beejoux Sorry this took so long Bee

She smiled sweetly down at him. "I'm alright. Only a few scratches, nothing serious." Her magic had made everything look so much worst, but it was nothing but illusion. Now that it'd faded she looked good as new again, if a bit disheveled from the fight. The compliment at Pavo grinning sheepishly, and she ducked her head. "Thank you, you did amazing as well. Very well handled." Especially for a child. The idea of youngsters fighting in this war still bothered her, but having seen Oort in action, she could honestly say she feared for him a touch less than she had prior. But only a touch. "It's probably quite late." She didn't have her watch or phone to look at, btu it seemed as though a significant amount of time had passed since she'd arrived at the park that evening. "Should probably be getting back home. I'm sure you've got school in the morning." She winked at him, smiling. litian No worries! I was eaten alive by a bunch of things

"Thanks" Oort said. It was about then that he realised that was still holding on to what was left of the branch and he let it fall slightly sheepishly.
He nodded at Pavo's comment about school in the morning, his nose wrinkling slightly "Yes" he admitted, "Although I guess I'd have had to get back either way" since she was right about it getting late and he didn't want to get caught out by his parents.
"Perhaps we can make the monsters do the dust thing again sometime though" he offered, adding "I come to the park a lot when I'm in superhero mode like this."
He turned on that note with a simple "Bye Pavo" and then he started walking, heading for home.Beejoux fin on Oort's end for this one
