"A wonder is full of surprises. But the dead are dead darling, and unless you are super superstitious, then they remain that way." She looked up at him, "Bones are nothing more then bones. I hope you aren't scared of them..." She didn't want him to be afraid of his wonder, "Just respect them after this I suppose."
She rose an eyebrow.
"Well, We don't explore by standing here Handsome" She stopped and looked at him. "I've heard that in ancient cultures, they put the dead on the outside as guardians for tombs. If you think no dead are on the inside, then it's perhaps just to-" She hesitated, "Make a statement. or it was Saturn's culture." She would never really know.
But dwelling on it didn't get her anywhere. And neither did it open Monty to his wonder.
"One step onwards, handsome." She took his hand and pulled him past the guard dogs.

"Superstitious... well... " He thought back to the future with the dead lieutenant's vacant eyes staring up at him, and shivered. Funeral parlors and things like that always creeped him out; that whole thing hadn't really helped. "Not really, " was the easiest way to brush it off. That wasn't a road they had to travel down.
Make a statement. The words grated on him like nails on a chalkboard. He wondered if in the past, he'd been the one to leave the 'warnings' outside, their blood fresh on his hands.
Were they really - well, what else would they be? - an ancient battle field? A routine sacrifice? He didn't know, and he wasn't totally sure he wanted to. Either way, he allowed Methone to tug him along, grateful not for the first time that she was there - but also guilty. She shouldn't have to lead him along on his own Wonder that he'd dragged her to in the first place.
Mont Blonc tried to muster some of his enthusiasm back, but it was like trying to blow on the embers of a dying flame. Speaking of - as they stepped into the darkness, deeper still, abruptly, there was light. A torch, lit by itself beside them. It was followed by another, and another, until around a dozen of them illuminated the room. Some sputtered, others didn't light at all, but there was enough light to see by. The room was large, round, and clearly very old; there were words and images marked into the wall, but they were clearly worn with age. Some bits of the walls had begun to crumble, but it was nothing that rendered the place unstable.
Around the room, there were offshoots, several halls leading off into what were presumably several rooms. Mont Blonc opened his mouth to say something when he thought he saw - something. Like a flash of shadow down one of the halls, but more tangible than that.
They... were alone, weren't they?
"Stay close, " he whispered as he held tight to her hand, leading her further inside even though every rational instinct said it was probably time to leave. Then, hastily he added a bit more gently, "Please."

Torches lit up and they were outside of room with many others. She let go of his hand and then went over to the walls, touching the markings.
Unlike Monty, she saw nothing but fire and stone and ruins.
"I won't venture far handsome." She looked over at him, "Don't be scared of ruins. That's just what they are."
She casually added at the end...
"It's not like they are haunted?"

Mont Blonc shivered when she said it, although he tried to mask it with a soft peal of laughter. The sound echoed in an eerie way in these otherwise silent halls, warping it and ultimately doing nothing to soothe his nerves.
He was too busy pressing forward to notice, but this hall was visibly newer than the first room had been. Still old and decaying, of course, but it had clearly been made later than the entrance had. Several more crude hounds appeared in the markings, their fangs dripping with what one could only hope was slobber. More torch lights flared up as they passed them, although again, some failed to ignite.
Ultimately, it opened up into another wide room. This one, however, was lined from floor to ceiling in shelves, all covered in books. Not all the shelves were full, but a glance at their spines indicated they were in some specific order. In the center of the room sat something that toed the line between desk and pedestal, grand, ornate, and chiseled from the same sort of black stone - the stone they'd dug out of the mountain had been repurposed, Mont Blonc realized.
His eyes swept the room, but he saw no one. - which was good, because there should be no one there at all. "A... library?" he muttered to himself, releasing Methone's hand briefly as he stepped towards one of the shelves, slowly shaking his head. His lips pursed, his brows furrowing. "No, no..." That didn't feel right.
He plucked one of the books from the shelf, gently opening it to unveil yellowing, wrinkled pages. The book was delicate, and some of the edges of the paper just about crumbled, but - "Names?" He flipped through several of the pages, then put the book back in its place on the shelf and took another. "Names. These are full of names."

She didn't think much of her help, since Monty was still nervous. But nothing would happen to the page while she was around anyways, so she pressed on. Bright smile on her face.
She leaned over to whisper at him.
"If this was a movie, I'd be Lara Croft, Tomb Raider." She waited, "You can be my hella sexy sidekick as we discover the-" Another room opened up to them and she blinked.
This would be Belle's SECOND dream library if the princess ever made it as far as saturn. She felt odd reaching for books, though she wanted to know if they pulled out the right one, would a room open up?
"Names?" She came back to him and stood on her tiptoes to look at the one he had. "I wonder if your past self was a keeper?" She hesitated. "Do you want to keep looking?"

He blinked when she made the Tomb Raider reference, and even if it was fleeting, a disbelieving smile flashed across his face, or maybe more of a surprised delight.
Then, of course, the library. The names. "Keeper?" he murmured in an echo of her question, his brow furrowed. He lowered the book without even batting an eye, quick to allow her an easier look, before he glanced up at her. "Do you mean - ?"
His eyes went about as wide as saucers, showing the whites all around his yellow irises as he realized there was someone standing behind Methone. If he'd taken the time to look closer, he might have seen some familiar colors, even elements in what the stranger wore - but all he saw was the paleness of his skin, the whiteness of his hair, and the darkness of his eyes, staring directly at them - or through them. "How much time do you have?"
Mont Blonc didn't even make a sound. He just dropped the book and lurched forward, all but lifting Methone in his haste to draw her close and get her away - away from this place and away from who or whatever that was. Within the blink of an eye, they were back in the park, and he was shaking.
"Y-you okay?"

"Keeper? Well sometimes there is certain roles you know. Graveyard keeper, name keeper. I wouldn't really know because I don't feel anything with this wonder. But I am sure something might-"
She squeaked as she was suddenly lifted and in a head rush space travel thing, she looked at him with a dazed expression.
"Besides the space travel and speed of light, yeah sure." She patted his shoulder, "What happened there handsome?"

"Sorry, sorry, " he gasped out, placing a hand and his chest and feeling the hurried beating of his heart. "There was just - " He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself and pull it together, but the fear had frayed his nerves something awful.
"W-when I looked up, from the book, there was... there was someone there, " and he half-whispered it, almost like the page was worried it might have followed them. "A-and he was right behind you, and - and - staring at - there's not supposed to be anyone there, right?" His voice got maybe an octave or two higher at the end there.

"Someone?" Methone hesitated and then reached over. Usually to break Monty out of his feelings, she played with words and touched him a little.
But he was on the verge of a full breakdown.
"Hey. hey Handsome." She cupped his cheeks, leaning on her tiptoes to touch her lips on his.
"There could be." She whispered against his lips, "In my world, I saw a figment of a past self." She nodded, "Maybe...you should talk to more knights." She reached up again and kissed him. "It's not a ghost like you think. Not a monster. Perhaps, he just wants to give you guidance."

The feel of her hands on his face and her lips on his was enough to give him pause, and her words washed over him like a soothing current. He lost some of the wild fear that had darkened his eyes, and his heart stopped pounding - well, mostly. It was hard not to do a little when Methone was involved.
He put his hands loosely on her hips without really thinking, and a touch of surprise overtook his lingering nerves when she talked about what she had seen. "Y- you did?" he murmured quietly, savoring the closeness of her face even as the warmth began to take hold again. Mont Blonc closed the gap between them again when she finished, and he didn't pull away as quickly as he usually did on his own. "You're right, " he whispered when he'd finally pulled away, trying to coax a smile. "How are you always right?" he teased.
Then, the smile turned sheepish. "Some space date, huh? - sorry the end was so - uh - " What was even the word for that? "It wasn't really super, uhm, romantic, really... " He leaned down to rest his chin on her shoulder, staring out at the park bench behind her so maybe she'd miss this one blush as he playfully amended, "... except maybe the Lara Croft thing." He laughed, shutting his eyes and trying to will the image of the specter away.
In spite of what Methone said - in spite of what he was - Mont Blonc knew he didn't want to go back there. He'd gone this long without going at all, so why should it matter?

She could see the fear disappearing gradually from his eyes, and that made her relax a little more then she already had. She, remembering the night plou corrupted, didn't like seeing the expression in Lorne.
Not when she could tell he was changing, and changing, she hoped...to someone he wanted.
"I did! It was like..." She struggled for the word, "I could see her moving through the world, when it was her time. Like the last memories of my planet?" She laughed, "It sounds so silly, but it's really comforting to know?"
She brushed away his hair, even as he leaned on her and rested her head against his. She did, as she always would, as much to comfort the young man as she could.
"It was a wonderful date." She whispered in his ear, "Even if you don't think it went the way you wanted." She laughed and nuzzled him, "Dates aren't always super romantic. I don't want candles and wine and champagne. I don't want to be courted." She powered down, so it was Nadia holding him. It was important to tell him. It was Nadia who needed Lorne. It was Methone who wanted Mont Blanc.
"What I want is you. To be yourself. To show me yourself. Your wonder was one piece of Mont Blanc, of Lorne." She closed her eyes. "Don't think you have to impress me Handsome. You already have."

"It doesn't sound even a little silly, " he insisted, his brow furrowing a little in a disbelieving way. "That... sounds amazing, actually. - please promise you'll tell me more about that." Tell him more now, wait and tell him the whole story - he'd prefer former over the latter, but he'd just be happy to hear her past memories at all. Especially since he'd been Methone the planet for himself.
Mont Blonc wouldn't know, really - his only other dates had been with the French boy, and - even if he'd dated already, he couldn't shake the image of a traditional romance. Flowers, movies, diamonds, the whole package. (Not that they were anywhere near diamonds, but - ) But she challenged it. She pushed him. She said these amazing things about him that -- the gesture that was Methone's shift to Nadia, the words that went with it, they would have been enough to move a mountain, much less a knight of one.
Any words he could have said wouldn't have measured up to that - so he leaned down again, kissing her like he hoped she could feel all the things he'd love to say. 'No one's ever talked to me like you.'
'You amaze me every day.'
'I want to show you.'
'I'd like to see you, too.'

"I'm going back in a week or so.." She held his shirt. "We'll see what happens then, and perhaps, after I finish exploring a little, I'll take you back. And we can have a date." She hesitated. Was she falling too hard, a little deeper?
She had pretty words, but on the inside, she was terrified. She would mess this up, she would, one day. Not say the right thing. Not say anything.
But she couldn't dread the future, even between them and she didn't have to think about it long.
He kissed her, and she felt herself slipping deeper and deeper into him. It was like he was saying all he needed to her, in this kiss. So she responded back.
Show me, See me, Be with me.
Be mine.

He smiled in that toothy way he tended to around Methone. He never blushed so much around anyone as her, no, but he also never grinned so hard so often. "I'd love that."
If Mont Blonc had any insight as to how her true fears, he might have laughed. Not because her fears were silly, but because they echoed his own insecurities. He didn't want to cling too hard, or have her get sick of him, and wondered if she might find somebody better along the way. Someone bolder, and prouder, and most of all stronger. He wanted to be that person for his own sake - but he'd be lying if he said it wasn't at all for her, and Colin too. - if he knew how she felt, god - he would have laughed, maybe because they were more alike than they thought.
He wasn't completely sure when Mont Blonc dropped. But somewhere in the midst of their kiss he changed back into Lorne, jeans, t-shirt, and all, less flustered and flighty (no matter how his cheeks forever burned and his heart pounded) and more - he was taking what she gave him, savoring the emotions and the little intricacies of this moment. His hand on her hip. The taste of her lips. The warmth between them that was more inviting than ever.
When he broke away from her, finally - how did it keep getting harder to do? - Lorne looked at her through half-lidded eyes with a shy smile. "You know... Mont Blonc is a knight of Saturn, with a place and a princess to protect." He was choosing his words very carefully, very slowly. "But I'm Lorne, and so I... I'm not a knight, exactly, or anything, but, " he fidgeted, then laughed, his cheeks burning because he seemed to realize halfway through how ridiculous it would probably sound. "I, uh... Never mind. It's - it's silly."

"Good. I'd love it too." She hummed, a deep sound in the back of her throat. While he thought deeper as they kissed, she let it all fade away, savoring the feeling of him, with her.
Savoring that feelings were.
"He is-" She tried not to make a sound about any princess he was bound too, because to be fair, it sounded like Monty belonged to someone else that wasn't just hers. Which was also unfair because she knew this getting involved with him and she didn't need to be jealous of a long dead princess.
"Lorne...." She hesitated, looking deep into his eyes. "It is not silly. Please do not brush it aside handsome. Tell me what you are feeling?"
