<< Does flying make you stronger?>> Millicent asked with a tilt of her head.

<< If you were sufficiently cooled you would become a Glaceon. I do not believe Steel typing has much to do with temperature though they do have a fire weakness.>> Franklin responded, thoughtfully, to the Eevee.

Ella grunted in amusement.

"Hm... I have to admit, um, the lack of a poison type intrigues me though I guess I haven't been -so- surprised by a lack of some of the others? I have been more surprised by things like Espeon and, um, Sylveon but I have some theories regarding those in mind... Um. I think a lot of it is of course that we simply haven't found the right genes to tweak as much as just not having them. Eevee aren't -super- common in the wild, not really, so wild evolutionary occurrences are rarer than one might think anyway... Um, short answer? We haven't been lucky enough to stumble across them yet. Probably."

<> Char looked thoughtful. <> If he hadn't evolved when he had he wouldn't have been able to save Aulus when he fell from that platform inside Galatic's Machine, and they certainly gave him more tactical options. <> he added, feeling it only fair to give the balanced view.

<> Artemis said to Franklin with a confused blink.

"I wonder if you could make one," Aulus mused. "I mean, you know the sequences for all the ones we have.... I suppose it can't be as simple as replacing those sections with a bit from a pokemon of the type you want that's vaguely similar though. Probably wouldn't end well."

"Yeeeah.. Um... In theory, yes, it should be possible? But Eevee's genetic code is a /mess/..." Tambrey grinned almost apologetically. "You know how all the text says it evolves into different types because it's genetic code is unstable? It's -really- not kidding. Um, so... You take, let's say, a poison type, right? and you find the sequences that relate to evolution into Vaporeon... It should almost be a copy and paste job? Except, in Eevee, those sequences are all over the place. Honestly, it's a miracle that, um, Linnaeus and Artemis are functional creatures; their DNA suggests their about to rapidly mutate out of control at any moment just about all the time... Um, have you ever seen that Simpsons episode with Mr. Burns and he sees the doctor? And he's told he had 'every disease ever'? Well, um, Eevee's genetic code -looks- like it's -always- on the point of collapse or some sort of... cellular explosion, and, uh, well, it kind of is, but we just happen to know a lot about how to control it... It's all pretty complex. It'd take luck as much as skill to manage to, um, make something like that..."

<< What weaknesses? Would I be stronger with wings?>>

<>
Ella piped up reassuringly, apparently, she'd decided that Milli's questions regarding strength related to some worry.

<< I do not understand why you are sorry. A lack of perception upon my meaning is not the fault of your own. I believe I must find a way to express myself with more clarity. I was simply referring to your statement that you would be a 'cool' steel type.>>

"Ha!" Aulus grinned and nodded. "Wow, okay, good analogy. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see if any new forms come to light then. D'you know what you'll evolve Linnaeus into yet? I think I'm going to go Jolteon with Artemis - she seems happy with the idea and I need one - but I'm not really sure yet."

<> Char replied. <>

<> Artemis replied, <> she flicked her tail in a shrug, <>

When Rose translated for Char Aulus made a thoughtful noise. "Well over all you'd gain a weakness, a resistance, and an immunity. Electric type attacks are quite common though, and usually quite accurate, so having a weakness to that isn't brilliant. Immunity to ground is helpful but a lot of the powerful ground moves aren't used lightly so they're less common. Most people don't want to set off an earthquake in their vicinity, even a small one."

"It'll be interesting to see if any do. I do hope so. Every new form brings a wealth of new information, um, even if the sequencing's a mess... I've... Um. I'm torn between Vaporeon, Umbreon, and Espeon..." Tambrey admitted after a moment.
"I know my team is lacking water types and dark types, but I also, for purely selfish reasons, really like the idea of being able to understand what he's, uh, saying..." She unclipped and held up both Pakhet's, and the Eevee's ball, about ready to let them out.
"But also... I'm sort of intrigued by the idea of these two working together; fire and water..."

<> The dinosaur turned her head to regard Aulus with interest. <>

<< I like to explain!>> Franklin insisted brightly and swooped down closer to the Eevee << Explaining things I have learned is fun!>>

<> Rose said helpfully, <>

"Yes," Aulus replied, having read up on them once Tam had Millicent. He then turned to Tam to explain; "Millicent wants to learn Earthquake now... to be approached with caution, I feel. Mmh, it's a difficult choice isn't it? It's not often you have a choice." He waved a greeting to the pair of pokemon as they appeared. "I think they're all good choices, and now I'm fully functional again," he waggled his metal hand, "with luck when you're on a mission next I will be too, and I've got plenty of water and dark so just go with whatever feels right to the two of you."

<> Artemis replied, leaning up to try to rub her face against Franklin. When she spotted Pakhet and Linnaeus she chirped a greeting. <>

Cranidos could learn Earthquake.
This information was now information that Millicent knew; she immediately swiveled her head toward Tambrey, looking expectant.
Millicent definitely wanted to learn that...

"Ah." The scientist frowned, clearly concerned, and caught the look that Millicent was giving her.
"Yes... That's something we'll talk about at some point later..."
She was much more prepared to deal with the other topic 'at hand' (she kept a straight face, though, even as she thought of it when Aulus waggled his prosthetic).
"I've had a talk with him, uh, through Franklin about it, but he doesn't really know what he wants to be yet, and I kind of feel like Franklin was trying to steer his decision a bit..."
Apparently the Jirachi had been listening; she popped up after letting Artemis rub her face against her, and swooped around the humans.
<< We need more psychic types! It will mean more useful data because Tarana will not talk much and you can understand me anyway! Plus, I do not want to be weak against Linnaeus; that would be very embarrassing!>>
"That's not an argument against Vaporeon though."
<>

Ella watched Millicent silently. She liked the fossil's work ethic and desire to be stronger, but perhaps, she mused to herself, she should talk with her about patience.

Linnaeus peeked shyly from behind Pakhet, then toppled forward when Pakhet wuffed and raced off to run a ring around Artemis and then barrel toward Aulus, yipping in happy greeting.
The Eevee offered a shy yip of greeting too, then shyly looked around before brightening up at the sight of Artemis, and trotting immediately toward his sister.

"Hey, hey!" Aulus frowned at Franklin. "I wasn't providing you with an argument so that you could try to steer a decision that has nothing to do with you. What I was saying was that between our two teams we can make a balanced squad for missions and so the choice should be what feels right to Linnaeus and Tam." Still frowning Aulus turned back to Tam. "If you'd like an unbiased translation Rose will be happy to provide, it means filtering it through me too of course but the offer's there."

He doubted that Franklin meant any harm but her self-centred viewpoint on the matter annoyed him greatly. Pakhet's approach however brought a smile back to his face and he knelt down to greet the Growlithe with scratches. "Hey there, how're you doing Pakhet?"

Artemis wriggled in delight and made a mock pounce at Pakhet as the fire type passed by her, but when the Growlithe moved on she turned to trot over to her brother. <>

Franklin gave an eep as Aulus frowned at her; it was still not a pleasant expression to have sent your way, and she swooped and ducked behind Tambrey's back, peeking out silently, much like she had during the training session where Char and Ella had mega-evolved.

"Mhm. That might be useful, thank you... Though, um, I do understand her point," Franklin started to bob back up "But I agree, and, um, I'm not so sure it's even as much my decision as it is Linnaeus'..." Franklin bobbed back down again, but cast an interested glance toward the Eevee... Hm...

Pakhet's tail wagged happily and she whined and then turned over, awkwardly rolling onto her back to show her belly. There was likely no need of a translation to know what she wanted.

<> Linnaeus replied quietly.

"Heh, well yeah," Aulus agreed with a lopsided smile, scratching Pakhet's belly as appeared to be required. "Just like, in a tie-break situation. It's not like there's a rush anyway, they're young yet."

<> Artemis grinned and went down into a crouch, wiggling her butt as though about to pounce. <>

<< I am getting stronger too! But, um, I don't think I like truly fighting like tackling and wrestling... I am very good at hiding though!>> Linnaeus brightened up. << I would like to be able to hide better and battle without having to tackle someone... Franklin wants me to be an Espeon but I do not know if I like that idea...>>

Pakhet wriggled and bobbed happily under Aulus' touch, then tried to playfully n** at his fingers.

"Mhm. We, um, have managed to veto Jolteon though. I have to admit I'm not so unhappy about the fact but that was Linnaeus' idea. I did managed to learn that he doesn't want to be 'flashy'..."

Franklin chose the moment to drift off toward the two Eevees.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:37 am

"Well that's fair enough, and good too as you've got plenty of electric types," Aulus replied with a nod, carefully whipping his fingers out of Pakhet's reach. "Careful, you could hurt your teeth on these!" he informed the Growlithe, giving more scratches along with the warning.

Pakhet growled playfully and rolled back, dropping into a play-pounce stance and trying to go after the fingers again anyway.

"Yep, um, including this new one..." Tambrey tapped her last un-opened pokéball, and surveyed the others who were out.
"I never thought I'd, um, ever have so many electric types..."

<> Franklin piped up, above the two Eevee's and startling Linnaeus out of whatever he was about to say, causing him to try and skitter behind his sister to peek out at the psychic type.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 19, 2015 9:58 am

<and Umbreons can see in the dark!>> Artemis replied, giving her brother an encouraging nudge. <>

"Me either," Aulus replied. He paused and then clarified; "That you would I mean, I don't have any yet.... I wonder if I could teach an electric type to charge my arm? They'd have to be careful not to fry it, but it could be useful in a pinch."

<< Umbreons have glowing markings though. Espeons have a lot more options and can be very strong! A white /Espeon/ could look good though! Would you both not want to be strong Espeons? And then Tambrey could understand you too...>>

Linnaeus pawed at the ground shyly, but smiled.
<< I think your colours would look good on any of them... Consistency might be nice as well... Not to change...>>

<> Millicent still didn't really -get- how Eevees worked...

"Hmm... I don't see why not... Um. They can modulate their output, most of them, I think... It would just take care and practice... Maybe, um, have tech set up like.. a dummy circuit to test on before you try on the arm itself?"
