Oliver handed the letter to him without a word, still blushing brightly. What had started off as a love letter somehow written in English, quickly turned into something much more... descriptive. The writer had been remarkably explicit in expressing their love.

Horace read with interest at first, intrigued by the blush on Oliver's face. It became quickly clear that the letter was a love letter, an explicit one, and he felt his face drop. Normally, he would have gleefully read bits aloud, just to watch his friend squirm, but not now. Maybe not again. For a while, at least. He forced himself to read it all, trying to find humor within it, but all he felt was his stomach sink and sink and sink.

"Ah, I see," he said. Horace refolded the letter, placed it on a shelf, and left, not turning to see if Oliver followed. This time when a tourist came, he shot them such a baleful glare that they backed off, turning elsewhere for help.

The one good thing about the letter was how quickly it had gotten rid of Oliver's sickly pale complexion. However, he wasn't lost on Horace's reaction. He knew the other young man would usually poke fun at him for a discovery like this, and that stale reply was a sign something was very wrong.

"H-Horace, um, sorry... A-are you okay?"

"I... I'm fine. Just not in the mood for romance, I guess," he said, a sad note creeping into his voice. It was not something he wanted to discuss here, if at all. Boo hoo, Horace the stupid got dumped and ousted by a clone. He clenched his teeth and took a deep breath. Finally, Horace shook his head and poked into the next tomb. Nothing of note - just a weird bird's nest. He made a face; it looked as though it were made of hair. He backed out of the tomb, running stumbling into Oliver.

"Are you feeling any better? You look a little better."

In the end, it didn’t matter who found it.

Everyone would get the same message:

text from Sherry
Please join me at the south side of the hill.

Sherry was there, practically bouncing up and down as she tried to get everyone’s attention, waving her scarf next to a small little tomb. Rubble, newly disturbed, had been pushed to just outside of it. She was almost bouncing with excitement.

Once everyone seemed to have converged, Sherry spoke, a wide smile on her face. “OK! This is it, I think. Flashlights out, because we are going in. Stay together, and note anything of interest.”

Eyes all but glittering in the afternoon sun, Sherry waved her group towards the tomb.

It was small, the first part could fit two people at a time, maybe. Anyone shorter than Sherry (5 foot 7 inches) would not HAVE to stoop to step into this part, but they might feel like they want to. It was old, weather worn stone… spider webs hung in the corners, and dust was kicked up underfoot.

The back wall had a large hole in, near the floor. “That’s right. Through the hole,” Sherry said in a bit of a sing-song voice.

It was going to be one at a time, and probably easiest to crawl.

On the other side, it was black, darkness seemed to grow out from the walls. The little bit of light seeping in from the newly formed entrance hinted at rock walls and a tunnel before giving up and letting the darkness win.

The ceiling was tall enough to stand, but roots and webs and slime hung down from above. The floor beneath was sandy, more dust billowing up with every step. The air was stale and smelled of moldy dirt.

A very happy voice came from the entrance. “Ok! Just follow this path a bit. Be careful! It starts to slope down after about ten feet or so. It seems to go on like that for a ways.”

HI EVERYONE ILU ALL

OK. Time for the next transition stage, sorry about the wait. (Bad timing on my part with RL. So sorry for the slowness.)
BUT seriously, feel free to rp as much as you want.

One little transition post – and a headcount!
If your hunter is still with us, feel free to just do a quick post about going into the darkness. : D Yay darkness!

It’s a tunnel, there is dirt and rocks and roots. Also some worms and spiders. And maybe some slime! RP as much as you want, or as little.

Just over a 30 hours and the next section will be posted. There will be much to explore!

Feel free to pm or quote me for anything, too. ;;

Arorangi had fallen a little behind from the rest of the group as he searched around, eagerly trying to figure out what there was to explore. Eventually, however, Sherry's voice could be heard above the din, her yellow scarf visible some distance away, and he followed along to catch up with Clyde and the rest of the group.

His bulk made squeezing through the tunnel a little bit of a thing, and he had to go through on his own; but by the time Arorangi made it through, he was still beaming and glancing around curiously, giving Sherry a nod as he looked at the gaping hole.

This time he found crawling a little easier - Arorangi was not afraid of the dark, nor did he have any issues with small spaces, considering all of the cliffs and caves he had explored while in New Zealand - and on the other side it was stale and dim, and he brushed his dreadlocks out of his face.

He looked around for Clyde and Oliver, just to make sure they were doing all right, before continuing after Sherry, down the path.

Chance's only experience in exploring dark, cramped spaces had been going through the cave with Otto. This was not exactly the same; he had to stoop quite low to get into the tomb, Chance's six foot three frame bending awkwardly to accommodate. He arrived on the other side just as calm as he had before, however, brushing dust and spider webs from his shoulders.

Down on the path, in the moldy smelling cavern, he let out a soft whistle.

"Are we looking for anything in particular?" Chane asked Sherry, sliding to catch up with her.

The Mist trainee hadn't wandered far from where Sherry was. So once she got the message it was easy to just pop back on over.

Luckily for Momo she was quite short. 5'1 short so stooping like the rest of the bean poles around here was something she didn't have to do. Although the tunnel was a bit of a squeeze for her hips and boobs. She had, a couple of times, though she had gotten stuck and almost panicked.

Caves were ok. Confined spaces like in this tunnel was not and she had to fight back the urge to flail and kick when she finally managed to pop out of the tunnel. Dirt covered her clothes as she placed her hand on her knees, panting lightly.

That was close. But she wasn't going to let that horrible experience deter her.

Clyde poked about really spending his time looking at all the cool old ruins. they were beautiful and nicely build to be standing this much after all this time. Then Sherry called them over to... a hole in the ground, not as impressive as the ruins. He brought out his flashlight anyway.

At first Clyde was a little unhappy that he had to stoop to get in this hole but he did so, without complaint. He might have been too tall for this particular endeavor. But as they walked along he realized they would have to crawl. "Oh I didn't know we were going spelunking. Good this should be fun." He waved to Arorangi when he looked at him a cheerful smile back on his face. This would be fun.

"Hmm? A-a little," Oliver admitted, steadying Horace so they both didn't fall over. "I still feel kinda nervous, not ready to eat yet..." It might not have been time for those sandwiches, but the kid wasn't referring to lunch. He had completely skipped breakfast over his unsteady stomach.

"Ah, look!" He exclaimed, tugging Horace over to where Sherry was trying to grab their attention.

Oliver was not keen on the idea of heading into the darkness, and the crawling through the tiny hole was even worse. He tried to reassure himself that with Aro ahead of him, and Horace behind, there was no way he was going to get lost or stuck. How Sherry could stay cheerful was a complete mystery. Now that he thought about it, Arorangi was probably just as chipper up ahead in the darkness.

While waiting for the others to get through, Oliver clicked on a small light attached to one wrist, and took a moment for data collection. He quite busily pulled devices out of the messenger bag, used them to take a variety of different measurements, and matched them against similar measurements taken using a small, very unpolished device and probe connected to his Spectre watch. Slime and dirt samples went into containers and were labelled with a sharpie before being stored in his bag. The freckled kid was so quick and efficient, it was hard to notice his hands were shaking slightly.

Hopefully all his mission companions could resist throwing a jump scare his way while he was so on edge.

"We are looking for, more or less, some kind of huge tomb. Or temple," Sherry said in reply to Chance. "I'm not really sure which it is, actually."

In front of them, it was black.

Very black. Except for where the flashlights were, of course, but the deeper they went, the darker it seemed to be. Almost like the cave was swallowing the light and keeping it all to itself.

Surely everyone would notice the sound of rushing water and the dampness in the air. Other than, there was little change as they walked.

Someone might notice the walls opening up, or the ground leveling out. Maybe they would stumble. Or maybe not.

But they would eventually reach the end of the trail.

To the left were some strange structures, they almost seemed to give off a light sheen.

Directly ahead was a flash of color and the glint of glass in the lights.

To the right, water. The sound of it falling and turning was not so loud anyone had to yell, but did drown out other noises in the cave.

Hi Everyone

Thank you guys for being so patient with me. ;; There will not be anymore days between responses. I am making this promise and keeping it. <3

OK. This place is dark, it's damp, and feel free to touch stuff. Some of it might DO things. (feel free to quote me if you mess with things.)
Remember! Everyone is here to research and take samples and stuff.
