Gregor gasped with great exaggeration and pulled his hoof to his heart, "You do not believe? You wound Gregor to the quick and damage his honor. And as you know, honor is most important thing to Gregor family," he nodded sagely. "Besides...." the stallion added on the sly. "Gregor is part fish so if he is telling fish tale it would not be too shocking, no?" A fangy grin flashed, "Now, you know of Gregor and all his life yet Gregor doesn't even know your name. Seems most unfair..."

Akis laughed at his antics. She wasn't certain she believed his tale, but the fool had the charm to pull it off. "You have me at a disadvantage, oh noble warrior," she teased. "You are far more interesting than me."

"Ah, Gregor is not one to tell beautiful lady that she is wrong, but in this case...you may nearly be mistaken." He gestured to her tail, "Your eyes watch all always and gracing your neck," he noted the chain. "Gregor might estimate you are quite the warrior as well."

"I don't know if I'm as fierce a warrior as you," she demurred, though her grin took away any humility that her words might hold. "But I do dabble. My sister and I take after our mother, who is a mighty protector in her own right." Even when Akis and Addy had grown to tower over their mother, Akis had continued to view Zahavah as larger than life. Leaving their home and exploring the world had not burst that illusion.

"HA HA!" the great water horse laughed. "You see! Gregor knew you had blood of warrior within you! It runs in your entire family I bet!"

Akis considered that for a moment then nodded. "Yeah... I suppose you could say it does. Both from my mother and my father." After all, she had watched Pavlov battle his demons every day, with help from Zahavah. "The little ones are still young, though."

"Little ones, eh?" Gregor inquired. "Well I'm sure with such models of role they will grow into warriors in their own right soon enough!"

"If that's were their passions lay, I'm certain Mum will be happy to encourage them," she said, pleased. "If not, she'll still encourage them with whatever they wish to do. She's like that. What of your family? They are descended from mighty warriors, but not a one of them is anything else?"

Gregor shrugged, "Eh, that is what Gregor must figure seeing as he has not seen any of family since he was very small. Must all be tough warriors - one does grow up strong when one grows up alone, yes." He spoke his words with cheer, long since embracing his solitary lifestyle. He was most capable of caring for himself, especially in difficult times.

Her smile faded a bit at that revelation. She knew that there were soqs who had grown without a family. Maybe she had even met a few of them and the topic just hadn't come up. Still, she couldn't imagine the loneliness of growing up without parents or siblings. He seemed happy... but that could have just been a mask. She came to a sudden decision. "You should come meet my mother."

She blinked, confused for the second it took her to realize what he was saying. When she did, she grinned impishly. "I'm not a nice and proper kinda gal," she teased. "I believe in testing a fella's mettle first."

"The you should know Gregor is solid like steel," he said thumping his chest for emphasis. "But if you would feel more comfortable with testing, please commence. Gregor love a challenge!"

"Awesome," Akis grinned. She could have fun with this. "The first challenge is to impress my mother... assuming, of course, that you'll be willing to go on a little trip."

"If being honest...." the horse paused. "Gregor have little experience with impressing mothers. Eh, but he is not one to shrink from challenge." He shrugged and flashed a fang filled grin, "Lead on, lady fair!"
