Tambrey watched as Aulus moved to give Char a hug and smiled. She'd done similar with Ella before simply out of gratitude, but she'd never, before Franklin, or sometimes Asgard when Aulus had him about, had a chance to hear, in words, what Ella had really been expressing. She watched Aulus carefully, appreciatively, then nodded, holding up the stone to show, and then offer out to Ella.
Ella watched curiously. She was still fascinated that there were ways to /tell/... really /tell/ humans things. She was a little awkward about sharing, so far- it was such a fascinating thing and she wanted to get such things worded /exactly/ right when she told Tambrey. The steel type reached out gently, rumbling with interest, and as thanks, as she took the stone to look over. She could feel /something/ about it, but she still wasn't sure /what/ exactly it was she could feel.
"Okay. Ella. We don't have to try any of this until you're ready to go for it..."

Aulus nodded agreement and turned to Ella. "We can come back another day, no pressure, whatever you're comfortable with." There was no forcing Mega Evolution... or at least TR hadn't worked out how yet, he wouldn't be surprised if they did one day. He didn't like the idea of that but there was some things you just had to put up with for the sake of the place - the people - that belonged to you and that you belonged to in turn. It was no utopia but this was his place, he wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Ella held the stone and looked down at it. She stayed staring for a good few minutes, like she was trying to work out everything about the stone... But it just remained a stone. A strange stone that gave off a strange feeling. Of course, Tambrey wasn't focusing and trying to use her key stone yet, so perhaps that important factor would make all the difference... After all, she did feel /something/.
She tilted her head and raised the stone a little, looking from Aulus to Tambrey. She wanted to try it now.
"Oh! Uh. Okay. Um." Tambrey reached for her keystone- it hadn't been embedded in or attached to anything /yet/. "So... I need to think about, um, Ella?" She asked Aulus.

"Right," Aulus nodded, "and try to be... calm, centred, don't let anything bother you. I know it's a big ask when you're trying to get something to happen but that's what worked for me when I was first trying to get it to happen.... I feel like I should have a better explanation," he gave an apologetic shrug, "but it's a feeling... like a conversation that doesn't happen, but has happened and is happening? Uh... that didn't make a lot of sense. Sorry. Do you know what I mean though? Kinda?"

"... I think so." Technically what Aulus said should probably have made no sense whatsoever, however it wasn't an impossible concept for someone so into the realms of science fiction; a conversation that hadn't happened, doesn't happen, is happening? Time travel! To be calm was kind of awkward though, this was strange, new, and exciting... She could focus on Ella though, and she remembered techniques taught in training, some by Aulus, in fact.
Calm, centered, think of Ella... Thoughts darted through her head and slowed... Images of Ella training, evolving, in battle, as an Aron, playing among cupboards, waddling around... A Lairon testing her strenth... Ella's stone, and Tambrey's keystone started to glow... Ella seemed to feel something...
More images... The mission, Ella saving her, riding toward the jet, but... Not Kirk. Not KO. They hadn't been enough to help.
The stones started to flicker and dull once more...

Yes! It was working! - Aulus raised his camera and took a couple of shots of Tam with the stone and then of Ella - it was!....
It was not working. Aulus lowered the camera and slid it discreetly back into his pocket. "You nearly had it there!" he said encouragingly, "What happened? You lose focus?"

"Um..." The stones flickered once more then cooled. "Um, I uh... Yes. I think so. I thought about Ella. About everything... And then I remembered riding her to the jet and the mission..." Tambrey admitted, and bit on her lower lip. She'd messed that up. And Aulus had been able to tell.
Ella didn't seem too bothered, more concerned as she looked to Tambrey. <> Ella considered that her mind was definitely clearer than her human's on the subject. After all, by that point, Tam' was injured and exhausted. She nodded and urged Franklin to provide a translation, in much the way she had for Char. <>
Ella's thoughts were feelings, hunches, but she felt like it was a similar thing to what Char had been trying to explain, and she looked for his reaction as much as Tambrey's while Franklin was translating the message.

Ah. Ugh. Yeah that would be distracting. Aulus gave Tam's shoulder a light squeeze, nodding seriously as Franklin translated for Ella. "I think Ella's right," he said softly when the translation had finished. "It's not just a case of believing in Ella it's..." he frowned as he looked for the right word, "it's believing in you and her, as a unit. I think." Had he thought about that the first couple of times? He couldn't remember doing so but maybe he'd taken it as a given. "You can do it, you nearly did just then," Aulus continued squeezing Tam's shoulder again before releasing her. "If you couldn't then the stone wouldn't have reacted at all." It was all very well to say that, but much as it was true would it actually be any help to Tam? She still seemed to blame herself, and he probably would too in her situation.
Char nodded to Ella. <> he said, <>

<> Franklin piped up. She wasn't going to repeat everything, as it sounded kind of the same to her, but mega-Char was still kind of scary, and he'd wanted to be translated, and this was pretty much exactly what he'd said, she thought... Then she realised that, if pokémon were giving opinions, and she was a pokémon, perhaps she should too... <> She suggested.
Tambrey listened, and peered at her keystone, and thought about what Ella had said, and what Aulus had said. She nodded, slowly, understanding what Ella meant- each time a change had come, Tambrey had helped her to train, encouraged her and praised her successes... and soothed her failures, turning them into steps toward the goal instead of failures. Just something to try again. Part of the process. She'd been missing a component. Gotten distracted. /Of course/ Ella had gone out to try and help the team, and she'd made that suggestion even though, inside, she knew Ella would anyway. They hadn't even known where KO was when they were riding toward the jet, and what good would it be if -she- hadn't made it? There were friends, people and pokémon, here who needed her to come back... and Ella had made sure that happened. She felt a swell of pride and smiled, and was about to nod that she was ready to try again, that she felt clearer, when suddenly the stones began to glow once more. An orb of light, flashing like shining metal, was blinding, in much the way Char's change had been... Whether it was because it was the first time, because she was part of it, or because it was Ella, Tambrey wasn't sure, but as the rainbows danced, it seemed like the transformation was taking longer for Ella than it had for Char, whereas, it probably really wasn't...
Right as the first bright light occurred, Franklin squeaked and, again, hid behind Tambrey's back. This whole mega thing was actually kind of alarming.

Yessssssss!
Aulus grabbed his camera out of his pocket and started taking pictures again. How well would the setting he had it on cut through the glare? He hadn't taken pictures of Char doing this yes, which seemed like an oversight but the first few times he'd been wrapped up in the experience, and then he'd been down an arm and... well it didn't matter and hey, if the first pictures he took of a Mega Evolution happening were of one of Tam's then that was perfect so far as he was concerned. He just hoped something came out, he was sure she'd want to study the images if anything at all was visible.

Tambrey seemed... surprisingly unsurprised and yet still rather awed as Ella mega evolved. Ella, as she changed, seemed surprised too... but perhaps their thoughts had crossed into sync right at that moment, and there was no way Ella was going to fight it... She /really/ wanted this, and she could feel how much Tambrey believed she could do it... Being small... but tough... Hard-shelled; Ella remembered being an Aron, with the frustration she wasn't bigger, harder, more useful, but Tambrey'd never minded... She simply trained her to be tougher, always as much for herself as for Tambrey's goals; her trainer wanted her tough enough to be safe. Bigger, stronger... but not strong enough to break a door. A shock. Again, Tambrey hadn't minded. They'd worked hard until Ella was satisfied. They'd worked so hard, without complaint, that Ella had, after Tambrey'd been injured, evolved, and gained the move 'Protect'. She treasured that move. She needed Tambrey, not just now, but always, to help her get stronger and better at what she did, to reach her own goals... and she knew Tambrey needed her. There was proof of that all throughout their time together. And now she knew that Tambrey understood exactly this too... The thoughts raced and ran together until, with a final flash, Ella 'burst' out of the energy bubble that had formed around her, plates changed, an entire new form, brimming with strength. She felt unstoppable, and couldn't help but roar; a happy roar, simply an outlet for this sudden wealth of power she felt. "Wow..." Tambrey breathed, holding the mega stone to her chest as she gaped, and Franklin peeked from behind her, at Ella, as a Mega Aggron...

Aulus turned the camera on Tam to take some shots of her staring over at the newly Mega Evolved Ella, keystone clutched to her chest and Franklin peeking out from behind. With that captured he turned back to take pictures of Ella roaring, the noise kind of hurt his ears but her expression was wonderful!
Char joined Ella in the roar, a rare display from him outside of battle but he couldn't help sharing in her joy. <> he said with approval. <>

<> Franklin /did not/ think the roaring added any kind of appeal to the whole thing. It made them /even scarier/! The little psychic type sank further behind Tambrey, and then slowly bobbed up to peek over her other shoulder, still wide-eyed, at the two mega forms. Tambrey, however, began to move toward the mega pokémon, which led to an alarmed Franklin trying to zip over and hide behind Aulus instead. The scientist approached the Mega-Aggron, wonder still plastered over her face, and some puzzlement vaguely fighting for space on her features, holding her right hand out, seeking to touch Ella; to feel the new form. <> Ella agreed with Char <> Ella rumbled << this and yet different. A feeling I feel can never be truly described...>> She turned, as though feeling Tambrey get closer, and lowered her head with a smile, to allow Tambrey to touch the new steel upon her snout.

Aulus just about managed not to make any small squealing noises as he frantically took pictures of Tam's approach to and greeting with the new Ella. Aaaaaaaah! He was going to get big prints of some of these shots, big ones!
Char nodded again, giving a soft rumble. <> Every partnership required an understanding, and he believed required those involved to be worthy of each other. One might serve the other but that did not mean they were lesser.

While Tambrey and Ella were... doing some kind of bonding thing. And, it seemed, without words, except from Char... Franklin was busy peering over Aulus' shoulder.
<> The unusual energy, the transformation, the sheer non-logic and unscientific nature of the whole situation... It was all a bit unnerving for the young Jirachi. Plus megas just looked scary.
