In her mind something made her think of him again. He of the easy smiles that had left her in shattered pieces, just like her father and her mother. She had loved this kelpie and he had walked onto the earth and became a stranger to her. She had waited longer than she cared to admit to see if he would come back. But he never did, no one ever did.
But he is not him, her heart pushed against her. It's only talking. Whereas, he had made his interest obvious from the beginning swept her right off her fins. She should have known better. And this stallion, would he become her friend then leave her?
You have to take a chance, her heart prodded even though her mind stayed doubtful. Friends are worth it.
"My paints and dyes," she said finally meeting his eyes directly. Don't hide yourself, don't. You have to take chances sometimes to make friends, you don't want to be alone, do you?
She felt heat flush her face as she stammered, "Tell me more about yourself, your fam-family?" .

For just a second, Lazuli saw a flicker in Earyende's expression that made him falter in asking his question, an astonished paints and dyes? Judgment like that would not be welcome, not here. Obviously, whatever her craft was, however she made it work, she was dedicated to it, and his ignorance would not do any kind of job to make her feel more comfortable. With a sigh of little bubbles, Lazuli gave her a smile and nodded at her question. "My family is a bit different from the conventional. My mother is a mer, like us, and my father is a seathi. The wishing star gave me to them, along with my sister. My other two sisters were adopted when my parents found their shells... We think something might have happened to their parents, since they left every clue they could to send their parents back to where they took them - to the Grail, that is. I'm from the reef. Are you familiar with it?" His expression turned from slightly bemused to curious again, his hesitation at the conversation lost as he spoke about his family.
