He shook his head and laughed a little.
"Melvin, I doubt you could be 'another America' unless Jan was obsessed with you or you wanted to take him. I think we're good." Horace shrugged. He was all for making America look bad, but he doubted that anything would make her look bad aside from changing her character entirely. Even then, he didn't know - maybe Jan would be just as fascinated by the change. There seemed to be no clear cut way to succeed in any of this.
"I'm not sure making her look bad will work, still. I would like Jan to become strong enough to resist any weird urges - but he's not like normal people, so I dont know what would work for him." Horace sighed.
"Poking and prodding her is going to lead to a fight, Melvin, so I dunno. There will always be a way to make it seem like my fault, even if it technically isn't. " He winced as Melvin pulled the banages tight. It was reassuring, though, to have Jannisari in hismind, giving him various estimates on healing. Melvin's words bordered on dangerous, and unfair, and Horace remained - as always - confused.
He reached up and gently laid his freshly banaged hand on Melvin's shoulder.
"Thanks, Melvin. You're a good friend. I'm sorry to putthis kinda burden on you."
