Mercy did what he asked her, nodding her head slowly as he spoke. When he brought the kit over and started asking if she wanted anything to drink and eat, she rolled her eyes again and sighed, pushing the reward card back at him and tapping it with a frustrated sigh. "Mr. O'Ryan," she said the pitch of her voice going up a bit. "I insist that you use this card while we wait for my feet to dry to purchase us some coffee and some snacks. I am, like, two drinks away from maintaining my gold star status, so please, you're only helping me."

She huffed again, cheeks puffing up a bit before she released another sigh. "I want a venti white-chocolate mocha, with whip, please, and pound cake, marble preferably but I'll settle for vanilla or lemon."

She eyed the girls behind the counter with a VERY cold stare. "They think we're dating..." She said quietly, "They think I am too young for you, which is correct, and that I am probably trying to seduce you, which I am not..."

Looking away from the barristas she sighed... Then something clicked in the back of her mind, and all the color drained from her face. She covered her mouth with a hand and she said quietly.

"Oh. My. God." She looked up at Pat, eyes wide with mortification. "I... I am so sorry Mr. O'Ryan, I have... I have completely failed at manners completely... My name is Mercy... Mercy Haynes..." She looked down at her lap, her cheeks suddenly flushed bright red.

Pat chuckled softly, again holding his hands up in surrender. Apparently she had a thing for froofroo drinks as well and had no worries expressing her opinion. "Alright, alright. I'll use your card to get the funky coffee." He scooped up the little bit of plastic before adding, "but only if you stop calling me Mr. O'Ryan. That's my father's name, I'm Pat. Simple, easy to remember, Pat." He absently played with the card as he eyed the menu, mentally deciding on what he wanted as well as keeping the cost as low as possible. He had a feeling if he came back sans coffee of his own he would be wearing hers once she was done scolding him.

He was pulled from his contemplation by her observation about the baristas. "What? Now that is disturbing." He started slightly as he realized how insulting that was, "not that you aren't cute or dateable or anything but I'm like twice your age. You should be Dating someone from your school or something. Geeze why do people always assume the worst?" It was a hypothetical question Pat actually had an answer for. He always believed people thought the worst because they were then relieved and happy when the situation turned out to be not that bad, Or if it was as bad as they thought then they were at least prepared for it. 'Hope for the best, prepare for the worst' was a common saying for a reason and it was a saying he tended to abide by both in his personal life and his professional one.

He chuckled at 'Sarah's' horrified face when she realized she hadn't actually introduced herself. "Meh, it's ok." He waved off her worries with a flick of his hand and a bright smile. "Mercy is a much better name then Sarah anyway. It's got more character. Anyway let me get the drinks and I'll be right back." He was also going to explain the situation to the baristas just incase one of them got it in their heads to call the cops for what they believed was an improper meeting. He made his way to the counter, ordered, and while he was waiting he explained what was going on. One girl glanced over at Mercy and winced in sympathy while the other quickly made up the order.

Mercy sat and waited for Mr. O'Ryan to return. As much as he desired for her to call him Pat, she knew she wouldn't be able to. At least not immediately. He was - as he'd said - twice her age. He was an ADULT. Adults demanded respect. He was also an EMT, that too, commended much respect from her.

Her parents had raised her to think highly of all civil servants. Police, Firemen, EMTs. To be fair, they had extended this to everyone regardless of their social or economic status. She was to be polite at all times, and treat everyone the way she'd wanted to be treated. And since she was used to being treated like royalty by her family... well...

She tended to be overly polite and courteous to everyone.

When Pat finally returned she gave him a slightly wan smile and said. "Mr. O'Ryan, I am afraid I cannot call you... Pat. You are an adult and commend respect." She hoped that would make him understand.

Pat chuckled and once he put down the drinks he held his hands up in surrender. "Ok, ok sure. Can we try Mr. Pat at least?" It was worth a shot even though he didn't think the proper young lady sitting in front of him would go for it. It never hurts to ask anyway.

"Enjoy the coffee with your sugar." He said with a smile as he took a tentative sip of his own drink. He smothered his wince, it was not the stuff he liked. His simple black coffee sweetened with a dash or two of sugar was bitter and weak, at least as far as he was concerned. He placed the small cup down on the table and began to repack the still open med kit. "So once we get you patched up do you have a ride coming or would a cab be easer? Bus probably isn't a good idea." He glanced down at her feet, "standing on blisters, even ones that have busted, would not be a good idea." He wondered just how far along the blisters were because overall it would be best to leave them intact due to possible infection but if she was going to walk on them he would have to drain them, not something he was relishing doing.
