Amusing how his first question was directed towards government rather than the location itself. It wasn’t California anymore like during his time. “We as an organization wouldn’t survive without one. Albania exists as a state underneath the Republic, just as the rest of the planet does. In contrast to your time, the Republic isn’t the Global Republic anymore; it’s been assimilated into the Galactic Republic, a multiplanetary government with dozens of civilizations as members. We are ruled by a single cell, composing of our members of the Senate, each senator presiding over select cities here on Earth.” It was odd enough sitting across the sole survivor of a time long past.

Henry WednesdayWednesday looked up at the doctor now. "Interplanetary? When the hell did that happen.. Never mind that. Are any of the old buildings still standing, is this place still using the same old sewer systems?"He was hoping the sewers were still standing, from there he could get to Caroline's old apartment, if it was still standing of course. He'd finished eating awhile ago, now just sitting for the conversation.

“No, the 400s was a time of intensive renovation, replacing almost all of the older buildings in the planet to accommodate for newer, more convenient architecture. People were simply no longer interested in preserving the old world beyond records.” He then proceeded to ask about the sewage system, something she hadn’t heard of in a long time. “I’m afraid not, the sewer systems worldwide were made inactive when we introduced nearly instantaneous water purification in the late 340s.” He may be disappointed to hear that, but things tend to happen after 200 years. It was amusing how most of the changes were brought about by the same organization he’d been investigating, even more so that the organization was still around and more powerful than ever. It survived the test of time, long after the world he knew vanished.

Henry WednesdayWednesday fumbled through the white pants for his lighter. "Do the systems still exist, or did they strip them when they became obsolete?"He said as he opened his pack of cigarettes, realizing now that he only had two left, much less than earlier when he'd first woken up. "They still make these right, or am I going to find something else to waste time?"

He seemed to be very interested in the sewage system, something she’d take note of. “No, they were cleared, renovated and used for resource transportation systems.” His next question was a bit disappointing, but she said she’d answer, so she would. “Yes, tobacco products are still flourishing, but they aren’t quite the same. We introduced an augmented version of tobacco leaves in 303 that reduced the effects of its most harmful carcinogens.” Later, they’d go on to cure cancer entirely and patent the cure, but that was a discussion for another day. Personally she didn’t like tobacco; its early affects on humanity were so dreadful.

Henry WednesdayWednesday was relieved to hear he could still buy cigarettes, now not even acknowledging his question about the sewer system. "That's good to hear, I'll have to buy some when I get out-" He paused, "Or I suppose If is more accurate. That is why we're sitting here."He was prepared for whatever the doctor had to say next. It was her turn to ask questions after all.

He was a definite smoker, but cigarettes were easy to provide. “We’ll provide them, though that’s after you pass your physical exam. We wouldn’t want to provide anything physically restraining until we know you are at optimum health. In two and a half hours, there’ll be a physical exam, just basic exercises to see if your body is functioning properly. Forgive my frequent directing, but I don’t suppose you really know where anything is at this point.” Evidently they couldn’t make him exercise directly after a meal; it wouldn’t be very effective for his bodily digestion.
Val stood up, opening the door and waiting for him to follow. “I’ll show you to your room. I’m sure a warm shower will do you good. I’ll make sure your clothes are cleaned and brought to your room before you finish showering.” If he truly preferred his older clothes, then at the very least she’d have wanted them cleaned for him, shoes included. “When you’re through, someone will be outside to escort you to the elevator, then to the rooftop garden. I think some sunlight would suit you well, don’t you agree?” After all, there was only so long until the lack of sun could drive someone mad. She then proceeded to lead him to his room, opening it, though she made no attempt to enter it, seeing as it wasn’t necessary.
It was also white, everything very sleek and organized. There were more of the clothes he’d been handed, though the other stack inside the cabinets were black. The cabinets simply needed to be tapped and they’d open. There was half sphere on the wall, a small holographic screen detailing the time, weather, moon phase, temperature, his vital signs, the option to change the appearance of the room’s color and pattern, the options to turns the lights on/off and their dimness, the option of activating/deactivating television screen, and the ability to call for assistance. The hologram itself could recognize touch. “It’ll memorize your voice. You can use it to contact us if you need anything.” And just like that, she was off. She likely intended for him to leave his clothes over the bed, someone likely to enter while he was showering—which was fine, since the bathroom had its own door—and a fresh pair would be brought in. He could easily ignore the other clothes.

Henry WednesdayWednesday entered the room, observing every single detail of it. He didn't see any cameras, which he appreciated. He dropped his old clothes on the bed, but only after taking some papers out of the inside pocket of his vest. Most of the ink was smeared from the de-thawing process, but he still didn't want anyone touching it. He took the papers with him in the bathroom. He dropped the white clothes, and tossed his shoes onto the bed before shutting the bathroom door. ~When you're working in intelligence, you'll need to hide things. An amateur would just place things in a desk, but sometimes you need somewhere more discreet.~Wednesday climbed onto the sink counter, and opened up the nearby light fixture. After a few seconds of tampering, he carefully lowered the fixture from the ceiling, and placed the papers inside, closing everything up without it looking like anything ever happened. He took his time during his shower, while smoking his last cigarette, a skill he'd learned while working in the agency to speed things up. When he got out, he searched the cabinets for anything flammable. After finding some rubbing alcohol, a bathroom essential for anyone who uses makeup, or just needs something to sterilize something with, he climbed back up onto the counter. After two minutes, he'd managed to use his nails to splice the wiring of the light, surround the papers with the alcohol, and add a few more things. This way, anyone who didn't disable his hard to find trap first would explode the light, and burn the papers before anyone could read them. He walked into the bedroom, put on his now clean clothing, and walked into the hall. He looked at his escort. "Lead the way."

As planned, he was escorted to the elevator and brought all the way to the top. The elevator had no visible buttons; it was commanded by voice. When they were up, his escort stayed inside, but urged him to go on ahead. It was actually dark, people in full body suits spraying mystery chemicals onto the plants. At the end of the central path was Dr. Nuada, though she was turned around and gazing at some seemingly plain bushes. There must have been a reason why it was so dark with only a few lights. It was, after all, intended to be a “rooftop garden”.

Henry WednesdayThe area put Wednesday on alert. For a rooftop garden, it was strangely dark, and everything was bizarre to him. ~Chances are, when something doesn't seem right, it isn't. Subtle things can give a situation away. Whether it's a gardener who watches you more than the roses, or a...~"An attractive, helpful doctor staring at a seemingly plain bush..."Wednesday muttered under his breathe quiet enough for no one around to hear him. He was checking every detail, making sure the guys with chemicals in their hands didn't also have guns. He eventually caught up with the doctor, now standing beside her. "Some place you've got here."

Fortunately for his paranoia, the gentleman spraying the plants weren’t armed, unless he had any reason to be intimidated by that sort of thing. When the doctor heard a familiar voice, she turned around and gave a subtle smile. “Indeed, though it isn’t quite what I promised yet. I apologize; I promised sunlight and you can see anything but.” She stepped onto a platform, and a holographic display opened around her. Val simply set her finger over a button, and the roof began to slide open, though there was glass in place of what was once a dark roof. She made sure to open it slowly so that it wouldn’t make his eyes uncomfortable. It provided a lovely view of the city, a world very different from his own. It looked very clean, a shining metropolis, the future that he alone lived to see.
If he was curious enough to look back at the seemingly plain bush, he’d discover that flowers sprung out, flowers with wide, white petals that had a bright, glowing light at the center of each individual flower. It was safe to assume that they were visibly gathering sunlight, and they likely only came out when the sun was present, descending into the soil and out of sight when it was dark, peculiar behavior from a plant. It was no wonder why she was so captivated by the bush.

Henry WednesdayWednesday was still on guard, alert to any changing detail. He was trained to, after all. He stared at the flowers for a moment, then at the city. It was so much different from what it had been. For a moment he missed what had been. The old bars, beach-side cafes, and Caroline. But he quickly pushed those feelings aside, his facial expression never changing once. "Like what you've done with the place, the decor looks lovely..."He said jokingly, a smile on his face. It was his false agency smile, but it would be impossible to tell it wasn't genuine. He wondered where else she was going to take him today, before she was unable to avoid further questioning of him.

He seemed so alert. While she was observant, it wasn’t out of some underlying fear that people were going to turn on her. He joke fully complimented the decor. “So I’ve been told,” she replied, returning the smile, despite its lack of authenticity. After a momentary pause, she spoke again, “Is there anything you’re curious about? You came to investigate, didn’t you? And though the years are lost to us, records remain, both of this organization and beyond that may provide answers. Aren’t you the least bit curious to what became of your friends and family?” He was particularly curious about certain things earlier, likely to look for something.

Henry WednesdayWednesday wasn't prepared to give anything away, especially clues to his identity. "I was working on multiple missing persons cases, each one pointed to Genesis. I looked into it, and I found out what happened to the people."He paused for a moment. That was all she needed, whether it kept him safe for long was debatable. "But, as I said, that clients been dead for almost 200 years. What I found is neither here nor there any longer. Anyways, I appreciate the gesture to let me see your records, but my family died before I was frozen, and I can assure you, you won't find files on any of my friends."His answer was honest, all of his assets lived off the grid, away from anything that could record them. Besides, if she found out someone he contacted, she may be able to find out who he really is, although highly unlikely.

Hmm, missing individuals, and he was investigating their old cryogenics program during the 300s. He had an interest in the sewers, and at the time, the city was so much smaller. Fortunately, those records belonged to the city, and what belonged to the city, may have very well belonged to their organization. He may have been correct about the information regarding his personal records, but some things didn’t add up. He was inside the pod when it was activated; there were no records of any damages at the time, meaning he was intentionally left inside. While they were currently unable to do the research, there was nothing stopping the scientists of the time.
“It’s a shame. At the least I would’ve wanted to see what they did in your absence. Perhaps looked for you, or memorialized you in some form? I’m sure you were missed.” As every good person ought to be. “I’m curious, how does it feel to be the last of a time that once was? I couldn’t empathize if I tried; it’s not exactly something one can easily relate to.” It wasn’t every day one could wake up in a new century.
