I lived in Israel for nearly two years. It was GREAT (Of course, it was a hunk more peaceful then... it was 96-9 cool . I loved Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem, and the Dead Sea and Masada were also worth it. It was ALL great!

Id like to add a bit to my post:
Some people arent comfortable leaving home, no matter how spiritual or special that place is to them or their religion/culture/or whatever
I feel safe in my country, I like the security, I could barely function in Tijuana, which is just a bus ride across the border

I want to kind of try it out before I consider going there for a year like my rabbi wants me to after I finish my conversion. sweatdrop birthright, maybe? I applied, waiting to hear about it. If not, I'm considering a study abroad program in my college. I'm a sociology major and there's a sociology class offered on the Israel trip. It's a little expensive, and the last time I did a study abroad (Japan) I was miserable. I'd prefer to do Birthright because it's 10 days as opposed to a month and a half. There's one person I can't stand to be away from for that long.

I went for Pesach/Spring Break in fifth grade- and let me tell you, kosher l'Pesach McDonalds is the coolest thing ever. I went again last October. I flew out on the third day of Sukkot, so I got to celebrate Simchat Torah in the streets of Givatayim, a suburb of Tel Aviv where my family lives. Because I've never been on a peer tour, I still qualify for Birthright, and plan to take advantage of that. I am also considering studying abroad in Israel if possible in college, probably for a semester.

I have to say, I absolutely hate airplanes. Any time I go on an airplane, something bad always happens to me. (ex: I get sick, I already was sick and getter sicker on plane, ear won't pop and starts bleeding....)
*shudders* I don't like airplanes
I would deal with it, though, as long as I go there when it's safe. 3nodding

Airplanes don't bother me... Which is good because I love to travel. Our flight to Japan was 14 hours, and I read, watched movies, and used my laptop the entire time, and it was just like any normal day for me. xD;; How long is a flight from New York to Israel? I'm sure it must be shorter.
Have you ever seen a doctor about your ears bleeding on planes? o_o That doesn't sound like it should happen.
