Vollerei had a sad smile on her face; what the other said was true... "Our culture does have some bad issues with it.. I wish my lil girl could just be a quiet chef or help out with something and not be forced to fight or hunt. Its just not in her. She's too sweet. But then I can see her being bullied for being 'weak' or 'lazy' or that she is acting like an earthling.. as if thats a bad thing." Vollerei ended in a mutter. She eyed the sprite as it flittered in. Cute! But if she had one Zweil would get jealous.

"Maybe times will change...I can only hope they do." Vollerei said as she held her hand out for the spear. "Mind if I move outside to test it? Don't want to hit anything in here when I test it out!"

Moving outside... very reasonable. ”Ah, yes. That's probably for the best.” Dyakida said, standing up, ”I'll follow you out.” That way, the conversation could continue.

Peyla heard her cue and, delighted as always to help her Alkidike, led the way outside.

”A chef, hmm?” Dyakida said, standing near the door to 'watch' Vollerai test out her spear. She could listen, at least. ”Many of our sisters are horrors in the kitchen, and me only slightly less so.” she quipped, ”A chef sounds like something our tribe desperately needs.” She laughed, a little regretfully. ”It sounds as though taking the path of a warrior would hurt her. But she will have to be able to defend herself... and the need always arises.” Dyakida herself had been forced to fight a few times with her daggers, against Obans, earthlings, beasts, and against the sisters who had decided that, well regarded weaponcrafter or not, she set a precedence for weakness. She had to be able to at least fend them off until help arrived, not an easy task. ”Sometimes, I wonder if we shouldn't incorporate some of the Earthling ways into our culture, make them our own. Not every Alkidike need be a fighter and a killer – there are enough of us that, if the young chose other paths, our tribe would not suffer... and perhaps be the stronger for it. That is, though, not a popular opinion. Such a thing, they say, would be a dilution of the Alkidike way...” she shook her head, ”Do they think that our traditions sprang from nothing, fully formed?”

Vollerei chuckled as she moved outside and begun some simple practice patterns. "Might wanna keep that quiet! Especially with the way things are sounding these days... too many people getting too vocal and uppity about alkidike superiority. Might be bad if one of them heard and decided to ...do something." She was blind after all.. but Vollerei doubted she was weak! But some idiot might not know that and get hurt...

She grunted with satisfaction at the feel of the weapon: swung nicely, no wobble in the shaft and the weight was unchanged. Blind she may be but she did good work! "Everything started out as a seed and grew.. problem is as it got bigger the tradition became harder to change. Very much like a tree. I feel as if something may break before change actually finds us."

”Mmm.” Dyakida nodded. She knew very well that she shouldn't speak of such things, but the Alkidike before her seemed to be on her side of things, if she had a side. ”True.” It was enough to give her frustrations voice, to hear her thoughts spoken and taken seriously without threat to her own skin. And those threats had come with increasing frequency.

”... Yes, very true. But even a tree bends and twists, or else it falls.” she said, ”... but enough of that. How is it?” she gestured, ”is the weighting and attachment to your satisfaction? I could perhaps add a few additional decorations, if you wished.” Beads came to mind – she had a few in boxes that she had heard were of exceptionally bright hues. If she could find – with the help of an assistant – some bright greens and blues... or oranges... that might work well. She wondered, idly, what the woman's spear's crystal color was...

post 10 for me! How much more do you wish to rp? It won't count towards my growth but if you want more I will continue however far you wish to go <3

Volle let the topic drop willingly; it was a rather depressing set of thoughts she'd rather not have to deal with!

"It weighs just right, nothing awkward or off about it! Could use decoration!" She laughed; she did love hr jewelry, colors and crystals! "Need some help in picking colors out? I really do like shiny things.. plus maybe it'll distract the opponent... but mostly I just want something bright!" She wondered how Dyakida decorated the weapons; perhaps she had a helper who did that? An apprentice maybe? But randomly selected colors and decorated by a blind person would be fun!

It can probably end soon but who knows.

Dyakida was pleased with the assessment of her work – she took great pride in what she did, after all. ”Your assistance would be a great help.” she said, returning inside to take out her meticulously organized containers of beads. They were like drawers, with many little compartments organized by color and labeled, it seemed, with little tags that had numeric etchings carved on them. Dyakida didn't do anything at random.

”Pick out what you like from these... please don't mix them.” she said, offering Vollerai the box as she took out some thin leather for threading. ”By the way, and I'm embarrassed to admit it, I never caught your name.” she said. It would be a shame if this woman left without Dyakida knowing who she was – she needed to know her allies in her tribe. There were so few...

”What is your name?”

Vollerei hummed happily as she looked over the leather and laughed when the woman asked her name. "Whoops! I never did introduce myself did i?"

She chuckled; "Must have been too into growling over kids! I'm Vollerei... And I know you are Dyakida since I asked around when looking for a weaponsmith." She chuckled again before handing over some leather strips.
"These ought to do. I must have thought forgot to introduce myself sine I knew who you were, my apologizes!"

I guess you're finishing

Dyakida felt the leather in her palm, nodding. "Thank you." She said, beginning to string on the beads, selecting them carefully from the marked containers. A few stray beads found their way into compartments not their own, but such was the way of beads. Dyakida trusted in her system, however. They were selected along with their fellows.

"Vollerei." she accepted the name as well. "No apologies." she assured the warrior, blushing slightly at the implication that she was recommended by name. It was quite an honor, and one she was proud of.

"I hope, though, that you will grace my door with your presence again sometime, with or without business." she said, hands moving quickly as she wove together a neat little beaded charm. Whether the pattern it had was the one she intended it to have was uncertain, but it wasn't ugly, and wouldn't unbalance all the hard work she had done to repair the spear. "I enjoyed our conversation. Greatly."

Vollerei chuckled. "If I'm in town I'll try to stop by and chat some more! I think I'll bring my daughter by when she decides upon a weapon... If she ever does!" Vollerei thanked Dyakida and headed out, glad today had something good about it after all the issues that had happened.
