The groceries were loaded onto Glitch in no time (due significantly more to Leeroi's involvement than Didero's). The whole shopping endeavor had taken less time than Didero had spent waffling outside of the building. It left Didero wondering what he'd been so afraid of. Before he could remember his misfortunes, Leeroi distracted Didero. He'd taken the other boy's hand and started leading their group in a direction that was only coincidentally the correct route towards Didero's hive. Didero quickly fell into step with Leeroi and their swinging arms so as to make sure they stayed on the proper roads. It was nice. It was nice in an easy sort of way Didero hadn't had much experience with. Leeroi caught Didero's attention again with a squeeze of his hand. He looked over in time to receive the compliment. Didero's face immediately filled with green. Compliments on his appearance were one thing. Didero knew he was pretty after all. Compliments on his character were rare and unexpected. His lusus had only ever really emphasized the importance of being magnificently fluffy and well-preened. Being pleasant to others was always treated as more of a means to an end. Didero decided the "end" of being praised by Leeroi was more than worth it. After a brief second of surprise, Didero recovered enough to smile, though the green in his face remained. "You are too!" He laughed, swinging their joined hands between them. Didero grew quiet for a moment as he let their hands return to a more peaceful rhythm. If anything. his blush had only gotten darker. "I know I already said it, like, a bunch... But thank you. You really helped me out," he spoke earnestly. He couldn't properly stress how dire his straits had been before Leeroi had shown up. At least, he couldn't without being a major buzzkill. Not wanting to sacrifice the happy atmosphere, Didero laughed again to lighten the mood. Leeroi's face flushed bright, Didero's words shooting through his blood-pusher with an intensity that Leeroi physically could not fathom. Instinctively, he shielded his chest with his snack box, concentrating on making sure his motor skills wouldn't fail him as he walked. He knew he was doing something heroic, but hearing those words recited to him provided an entirely different sensation. For once, there was a touch of embarrassment to his pride, and he laughed it off nervously before turning back to Didero, his blush still incredibly plain on his face. How could he respond to something like that? Leeroi thought hard, slowly regaining his ability to speak after hearing Didero's words. What was he supposed to say after something like that? Leeroi searched through the databases of his thinkpan, trying to think of what might happen next in his games. Suddenly remembering, he bit his lip, flush deepening as he glanced back to Didero. Laughing to lighten his mood, Leeroi raised Didero's hand to his lips. "My Prince," he finally replied, planting a light kiss on Didero's knuckles, desperately fighting to keep eye contact through his embarrassment. seekingCylem sirens blaring: too much cute everyone take cover

Didero couldn't help but be a little self-satisfied at the effect his words had on Leeroi. The embarrassment behind his blush tapered off as he was no longer the only one turning his blood hue. However, Didero had underestimated Leeroi's rebound time. He only registered that his hand had been kissed approximately two seconds after the fact. A tiny "Eep," of surprise chirped from the back of Didero's throat. When was the last time a greenblood was referred to as royalty by anyone, much less a blueblood? Didero tried not to jitter in place while his hand was still being held by Leeroi. In looking for something, anything to comment on that wasn't the heat in his face or the twisty feeling in his stomach, Didero noticed a familiar building come into view. "M-My hive!" He announced, voice a little shrill and uneven. He cleared his throat. "That's my hive right over there. Th-the tall, narrow one with all the windows."Didero turn his full attention towards the walk home, though he never once let go of Leeroi's hand. If anything, he gripped a little bit tighter.

Leeroi's bloodpusher fluttered rapidly watching Didero's flustered reaction. It didn't feel like the intended result, but Leeroi adored it all the same. He smiled, lips pressed into a thin line in embarrassment. When he finally broke, he let out a small laugh, turning his attention to the sidewalk's concrete as he walked. Didero's hive. They were almost there, at the end of the quest. Leeroi felt pride but was overwhelmed by an empty pain in his chest that he was once again unfamiliar with. He glanced back at Didero, a worried frown turning the corners of his mouth. He would have to say goodbye soon, and Leeroi wasn't prepared for it. He wasn't prepared to have Didero be some random NPC he'd never talk to again. Leeroi's hand tightened around his companion's, blush creeping back onto his face when he realized Didero was doing the same. Once outside Didero's hive, Leeroi quickly reached out for the greenblood's other hand, turning him so that they faced each other. Leeroi fluctuated between pride, embarrassment, and worry, but he gave Didero one last big, toothy smile because the greenblood deserved it for making it all this way. "Didero," Leeroi said, instinctively pulling their hands closer so he could be nearer to him. "Can I... Can I send you letters? I don't want to say goodbye just yet," He explained, voice squeaking with his nervousness. His hands tightened around Didero's, eagerly waiting a response.

Didero's modest tower of a hive loomed up around its neighbors. It appeared far more foreboding under the moonslight without its usual traffic of birds. The filthy windows and scratched siding was all the more apparent, and lacking in visible excuses. Didero was now twice as sad for their walk to be coming to an end. As though reading his mind, Leeroi pulled Didero around to face him. It was a startling, but not unwelcome distraction. Not unwelcome, indeed. Didero's eyes nearly visibly sparkled at Leeroi's proposal. "Y-Yes! Of course! I love letters!" Didero gushed without even trying to play it off. "This has been the most fun I've had in weeks. Please... Please don't be a stranger." Didero trailed off into a voice that was small, but no less warm. He couldn't maintain eye-contact with Leeroi the same way he couldn't help the smile exposing his teeth.

"Yes! Awesome! I'll send one the second I get home! A-and next time I'm in town, I'll let you know!" Leeroi nodded his head, whole body bouncing in similar excitement. He held onto Didero's hands for a decent pause, not wanting to let go, but incapable of coming up with a reason to continue holding them. Shyly, he finally retracted them, taking a step towards his lusus. "I'll, uh, unload everything for you!" He offered, guiding his lusus to sit so he could gather up Didero's bags.
Running back and forth, he placed all the bags at the greenblood's doorstep, wholeheartedly focused on the task. Finishing up, he clapped his hands and turned his attention back to Didero so they could politely part ways.
"I think that's everything," Leeroi said, picking his snack box back up and stuffing it under his arm. "Say bye, Glitch!" Leeroi yelled to his lusus, who offered a kind scream the greenblood's way. "Take care, Didero Salons," Leeroi smirked, holding his snack box tight.

For a moment, the two children bounced in tandem, only to slow as they disengaged. Didero was unsure what to do with his hands now. He settled for clasping them behind his back as he rocked on his heels, beaming brightly. Leeroi was practically a blur as he unloaded all of the grocery bags. "Please do! I can give you a proper tour of the city."Didero did his best not to look too disappointed at Leeroi's departure. Glitch's unexpectedly loud shriek helped. Didero laughed at his own startled reaction and waved Leeroi and Glitch off. "Same to you, Leeroi Furore!"For the first time in a while, Didero felt like things were going to turn out okay.
